Thanks all! My day did gets loads better thankfully and was rounded off with a lovely yoga session (I did fall asleep in the meditation part though so I can totally relate Madrigal!). Generally a 30-45 min sleep in the evening does the trick!

laughingGnomette · 24/02/2016 21:48

belle - I've bought from that website before (matress for a travel cot and bugaboo cameleon) and was pleased with what I received.

emma85x · 24/02/2016 21:56

Madrigal I am with you on this one! I have a sleep between 5-6:30pm after work and then go to sleep at about 10. I need so much sleep!!

I'm 24 weeks tomorrow and I feel one or two kicks when I'm lying down in bed but that's all. So wish I could feel him more. Other ladies with anterior placentas... How are you getting on? How much/often are you feeling your baby move? Thanks in advance.

Grapefruitforever · 24/02/2016 22:14

Emma I'm only 22+3 but anterior placenta and only feeling v occasional what I think are kicks, and only on the inside, there's nothing to feel on the outside yet. They seem to be mostly in the evening - maybe 1 or 2 a night? I do worry I should feel more but I know it's early days with baby number 1 and an anterior placenta.

jellybelly85 · 24/02/2016 22:16

I've got an AP too emma although it's high so won't prevent a natural birth. Baby seems to quite enjoy kicking me in the cervix. I'm less of a fan! Kicks seem to be getting a little more regular but tend to focus around my pelvis or sides, rather than belly button area. Mine is most active in the evenings when I've collapsed on the sofa after work. Glad to hear you're feeling a few more kicks Smile

mrsmugoo · 25/02/2016 07:28

Emma - anterior here and still lighter kicks than my first. I had a day or two of movement right at the top of the bump but everything is back down right at the bottom now so I can't help feeling anxious about having another breech :(

Belleboo23 · 25/02/2016 07:29

That's good to know laughing, did you go for the foam one and was it comfy, they do the waterproof mattress protector for no extra charge and a quilted mattress cover is only an extra £3 which I though was good.
I have a high ap aswell and feel kicks mainly to the right and in the cervix which Is not pleasant!! 😂

MadrigalElectromotive · 25/02/2016 07:33

My placenta is anterior too, and I am now feeling regular kicks and have been since about week 23-24. (I am 26+3 today.)

Thanks for the website for the mattresses Belle - I'll check it out.

Am I mad to be considering booking a holiday for early September?! We would get the ferry to n France and stay in a little cottage so it wouldn't be wild in any way, but the baby will only be about 3 months old and so I don't know if this would be folly or not. Any seasoned Mums with any advice for me? Grin

strawberrypenguin · 25/02/2016 07:49

DH and I were talking about holidays last night madrigal we were wondering about end of August (DS starts school in September) we think it should be doable with a 3 month old but decided to leave it and maybe book something last minute.

jbiscuits · 25/02/2016 08:01

We're going on holiday in early September, and am really looking forward to it. We're staying in the UK though. The worst thing will be the travelling, but as long as you organise lots of stops (if driving) you'll be fine. To be honest though, it's DS who I'm more worried about with travelling, at least baby will just sleep in the car!

mrsmugoo · 25/02/2016 08:29

I think a holiday in September would be nice. I'd like to go somewhere within a couple of hours drive and take my toddler DS to the seaside. Baby DD will be quite portable and out of the really newborn stage so think it could be fun.

jellybelly85 · 25/02/2016 08:35

We're going back to my childhood home in Sept for a wedding. Was one of the reasons why I bought the Chicco next to me as it is a travel cot! It'll be a great opportunity to see friends and family, so couldn't say no.

mrsmugoo · 25/02/2016 08:37

We've got a travel cot but it's so rock hard you either need to buy a much better mattress which defeats the purpose or DS has just ended up in with us whenever we've gone away.

GenevaJoey · 25/02/2016 08:38

We live in France and are driving back to the UK in august, as soon as baby's passport arrives, as parents in law can't travel, and its the first grandchild. It's a long drive:7 hours from our house to Calais without stops so goodness knows how long it will take. We'll be travelling throughout the UK for a few weeks: up to Liverpool, Midlands and a week on a holiday cottage in Dorset. I think we might be mad but it's such a bitter sweet time for in laws as fil had a stroke a couple of years ago and they're so sad they can't come out, we feel we really want to do it. Really looking forward to the week spent at seaside in august though. Will be with my parents and in laws, so might be a bit stressful, but nice to have a family holiday!

Think it will be really special to have a first family holiday while you can.

mrsmugoo · 25/02/2016 08:42

It's not too bad with a newborn as you just stop for feeds and they sleep in between. It's my toddler I'm worried about! After 45 minutes of toy story on the iPad he's having a meltdown to get out!

jbiscuits · 25/02/2016 08:43

Mrsmugoo our travel cot is really hard too. We've just always put a blanket under the sheet when using it, which seems to work fairly well.

Eastend2015 · 25/02/2016 09:02

UK holiday planned for sept here too up in the Laks, although it will be a long drive it will be so worth it, then Madeira in Oct with some family. Can't wait!

JellyBaby26 · 25/02/2016 09:10

UK holiday closed home planned as well - will see how it all pans out!

Just want to talk buggys- I had my heart set on a peach blossom but I'm not mad keen on how dd will have to face the world while ds is facing me in the car seat (not going to get carry cot), and this could be for up to six months. I've looked at configurations of the uppababy vista and you can with this.
Does anyone have it ? Especially as a duo? Is it any good on rough ish terrain?

MadrigalElectromotive · 25/02/2016 09:18

OK, I'm going to go for it! It isn't too much driving - about an hour to the ferry port, and then two hours the other side, and it won't matter if we have to stop lots of times. Grin

GrubbyWindows · 25/02/2016 09:36

We took DS to Poland on the train when he was 4 months, it was great! A really easy age to travel. He always hated cars though- we train and ferried to Ireland too, which was fine, but he hated the driving around once we were there.
This time we will be off to Italy for a month or so from late August, I'm debating training it, but we will have a lot of luggage...
(We have far flung family and a tiny London flat with no room for anyone to stay...)

sambababy · 25/02/2016 09:37

We went from Brazil to the UK & back when DD was 3.5 months. It was the easiest time we've travelled with her.

I've got AP too but feeling lots of kicks, sometimes I can see them. 2nd baby though. I'm guessing there's more to it than just whether the placenta is at the front. Never heard about it stopping natural birth though. Isn't that just if it covers the cervix?

laughingGnomette · 25/02/2016 10:05

belle - sorry, it was the cotbed mattress and the cameleon mattress from there. We got the waterproofing for the cameleon one which was just a foam mattress. The cotbed one was quite a high-spec one and it's very good quality. DS loves his bed Smile. We didn't get sheets with them.

We bought our travel cot mattress from kiddicare. It actually folds in half so we haven't found it a problem to take with us when we go away. The one that came with the cot was just dreadful!

We took DS to Sardinia when he was 4 months, it was brilliant! They are so portable at that age. The old italian ladies loved him! I breast fed so organising bottles and formula wasn't an issue. Baby passports are so cute!

Is anyone going for a 'babymoon' before baby arrives? We've booked a long weekend in Vienna in March. (Grandparents are having DS). Can't.wait!!!

nehagarg · 25/02/2016 13:06

I have been on one Laughing ... Went to La Palma for some sun last month.

Vienna will be beautiful in March. I am jealous. No more holidays for us.

We are off to the seaside on July 15th just a long weekend but thought it be nice for the older two kiddies to get away for a few days after all the baby mayhem!! It's only 2.5 hours drive so shouldn't be too bad!!

AltCarbon · 25/02/2016 14:47

We're doing the Loire Valley in August in a tent with the new baby and DS who will be 18 months by then. Didn't go last year as was worried about travelling abroad with a baby but feel more confident as second time parents. Plus we survived the UK in a tiny camper van last year when he was the same age as the new baby will be. Maybe we're kidding ourselves on but we're really looking forward to it Smile
