Ah Sunny - that's so gorgeous! A future BFer! DS1 tried to stick on a nipple shield and feed Postman pat, they're so funny aren't they?

I want to start introducing the occasional bottle of expressed milk - DS1 was a total refuser - but feel a bit nervous about it all.

Fraggleyourock · 17/04/2016 17:37

Sunny and LOD, that's too cute! Shirking, poo or no poo sounds like such a fun game!
DD has had the occasional bottle of expressed milk and she has taken them wonderfully, and had no problem going back to breast. I was really scared that she'd never feed from me again but she's been fine! I have never given her a bottle myself though.

SunnyL · 17/04/2016 19:58

Hmm we're not having great success feeding her from a bottle yet. DD1 had no issue and took to them immediately. This one is very reticent then finally takes a bottle, throws up and demands boob. Think DH is getting a bit demoralised.

The bugger is I want to go to a sewing workshop in a months time so she needs to take a bottle soon!

Brindler · 17/04/2016 20:11

Dd was a total bottle refuser. I ended up bfing her for longer that I would like to admit to! Was a nightmare. Gave DS a bottle of expressed when he was about a week old and he's been great so far. I try and give him a bottle once a day to make sure he doesn't forget!! Trouble I have is trying to get enough milk out as he does feed a lot!!! He was a month old yesterday, where has that time gone??!

Shirkingfromhome · 17/04/2016 20:33

Evening! Time is going by so quickly; dh goes back to work this week and I'm dreading it. Ds is being really good for a two year old but it's hard juggling two of them.

Bottles are not a problem for me, I'm ff ds2 due to a couple of issues. I really beat myself up about it with ds1 but I feel ok with my decision with ds2. Just as well really, ds has out on an ounce a day since he was born.

DH and I are looking for a new bed; minishirks is still coming in our bed and microshirks is following in his footsteps. It's erm... cosy!

Holy smokes - HV just been round to weigh my chunky monkey. She's gone from 8 lbs 2 to 9 lbs 7 in just 3 and a half weeks. That explains all the nightly feeds! Took us weeks to put on that kind of weight with her sister.

Is everyone else thriving?

LastOneDancing · 21/04/2016 16:03

Well.done miniSunny that's good growing! We had the 6 week weigh yesterday, DS2 has gone from 8'3 at birth to 11'2 so following his line beautifully. DS1 had some issues with dropping weight - I never found feeding straightforward - so it's been a pleasant change.

DS2 is 6 weeks today and we went to get him registered this morning so he is now all official! I called 2 days after he was born but this was the earliest app they had! Birmingham is having a baby boom apparently Confused

Fraggleyourock · 23/04/2016 12:10

I'm glad all tiny ones are gaining weight nicely! Dd isn4 months old now, and she is just in her 0-3 month clothing, so she's getting to wear all the beautiful dresses family got her when she was born! Hoping everyone is amazing!

Brindler · 23/04/2016 20:43

Hi everyone! I also have a chunky monkey here! He's put on nearly 5lb since birth - my sister has suggested I'm producing lard rather than milk! He also has massive feet which has meant sleep suits are a bit of an issue as his toes end up all scrunched up so he skipped a lot of the newborn clothes. I'm actually having to pack some clothes away already as he's too big for them - so sad! (And still feeling broody for another ...)

SunnyL · 24/04/2016 18:48

Yes we're out of the 1 month closes because of bog feet issues. I'm looking into making a memory bear out of her babygros as this is definitely my last baby. Which makes me a bit weepy and hormonal (until 3 am when I just feel tired)

Shirkingfromhome · 25/04/2016 14:04

We're still in 1 month size clothes (just) but I think we're getting our last wears out of them. I forgot what a pita poppers were though!

We're going on holiday in 5 wks and I'm not sure what to take for ds2.

Also haven't had him weighed since midwife weighed him on day 10. Oops!

Pleased all the babies are thriving. Is anyone going to any baby classes this time round?

OP posts:
LastOneDancing · 25/04/2016 21:57

Oh man, the poppers drive me insane.

I have been to a BF support group (because they promised coffee) and I'm thinking of doing a baby sensory class but that's it so far for groups here. Oh and I'm hoping to start a circuits class for mums ASAP but that's not very social, I'm too sweaty after to chat.

Well I broached the subject of baby 3 yesterday while pondering what to do with the tiny baby gros Ds2 has grown out of & encountered a wall of NO.

To be fair, DH made some very sane valid points and I agreed that for us 2 is probably the magic number. But it makes me sad to think I'll never feel a baby kick again. Then again, at 3am when he was actually trying to batter his way out through my stomach it was less appealing so... our family is complete. I am a mum of boys.

Shirkingfromhome · 29/04/2016 21:32

I broached the topic of dh getting the snip but it wasn't received very well! I'm a mum of boys too LOD , I like having two the same.

I didn't enjoy this pregnancy as much as the first one. I found it quite hard with a toddler and if had a mmc before this one so I had a bit of anxiety all the way through. In a way I'm relieved I won't have that worry again.

How are all the babies doing? Microshirks is doing really well. Haven't had him weighed yet ( it he's eating really well). I'm sure I was there religiously with ds1!

OP posts:
SunnyL · 30/04/2016 09:01

That reminds me DH was going to look into snip options but doesn't appear to have done anything about it. Of course we have the best contraception possible at the moment - a clingy baby that won't go to anyone except me

SunnyL · 03/05/2016 12:32

My little girl is falling apart.

Her kidney needs another scan as the last scan suggests she has reflux.

Her hips are being checked out on monday because they're concerned.

And now she's showing signs of reflux like her sister so I'm thinking of going dairy free again. I'm going to ask the HV on monday about gaviscon.

Otherwise everything is rosy Grin

Shirkingfromhome · 03/05/2016 12:47

Sad Sunny hope they're just being cautious about the hip thing. We've got to go for one too as my dm had hip problems from birth.

No experience of reflux though. Poor thing. What does reflux do to her kidneys? Are you ok?

Microshirks has a cold (thanks for minishirks nursery bugs). Just had a massive growth spurt too so all the NB / 1mth old clothes are being packed away. I feel a tiny bit sad that it's the last time we'll need them.

OP posts:
Brindler · 03/05/2016 21:19

Oh Sunny your poor baby girl!! Must be really stressful for you too. We tried gaviscon for a couple of days with DS as he was showing signs of reflux early on, but found it too difficult to administer as I'm breastfeeding and it also constipated him. So I have a couple of boxes here if you want them!

My poor little man is just getting over a nasty ear infection which perforated his little ear drum! All better now though, just suffering with major wind issues!

Injections in a couple of weeks - dreading the after effects of the meningitis one, it sounds nasty! How were everyone's dc's after theirs??

SunnyL · 04/05/2016 12:23

Brindler did you go dairy free? Do you think it helped? I've actually got some gaviscon in the cupboard left over from DD1but thought I'd wait til the 6 week appointment with the GP - this baby won't take a bottle so getting gaviscon into her could be challenging

Brindler · 04/05/2016 22:39

Yes tried dairy free but didn't make any difference. It seemed to settle down after a couple of weeks and just turn into horrendous trapped wind instead. Looks like I also have a bottle refuser again. He took one early on, as I was determined not to get caught out again like I did with Dd but didn't give him one for a few days and when I did, it was like he'd forgotten what to do! So thats me glued to the sofa for the next year!

SunnyL · 10/05/2016 13:40

Hips are all clear!!!! Apparently she's just quite flexible. Phew! Really pleased with that result.

Now we've ticked that off we just need to worry about her kidneys and her reflux.

Brindler · 11/05/2016 22:42

That's great news Sunny! Must be such a relief for you.

Have you got any further tests/appts coming up for the kidney and reflux issues?

Hope everyone else is doing ok?

Shirkingfromhome · 12/05/2016 21:28

Great news Sunny hope the good news continues.

We're good thanks Brindler' it's a bit full on sometimes with a toddler and new born but the sunshine has been great as we can all sit in the garden and ds1 can around. Can't believe ds2 is a month old already. We go away next week too!

How's everyone else?

OP posts:
Shirkingfromhome · 13/05/2016 13:43

Just had our hip scan - microshirks has immature hips and he's been referred to physio. Sounds like a minor thing though so hopefully it'll sort itself out with a bit of work.

OP posts:
SunnyL · 13/05/2016 13:51

Hi shirks - so just physio and no brace? That sounds like it's an ok scenario and hope you're not too worried about it?

Baby sunny got her 6 week check yesterday and we've got a gaviscon prescription and I can already see a difference. Last night there was no screaming and puking 2 hour fest like there has been every other evening. The GP also read our kidney letter from the hospital and thinks from the language used they aren't overly concerned about her kidneys which has calmed me down too.

Shirkingfromhome · 13/05/2016 14:18

Not too worried about it, the Dr didn't seem bothered so I'll just see what happens.

Pleased you've got the reflux sorted SunnyL , and you found a way to get the gaviscon down. That sounds like a huge improvement already. Great that you're little bit reassured by your GP for the kidney scan too. Hope it's nothing to worry about.

We've got our 6 wk check next week. Forgot what they do!
