Okay, just tried to add a link from the old one to this one and it won't let me, it's too big to accept new messages!! Hope you all find me here and I'm not hanging around on my own!

Still no action for me. Got through my birthday today without even a twinge so that's one significant date out of the way. Think my encouragement of sod's law to come into play by going to PILs for Christmas isn't going to work either. Still, I'll be spoiled rotten by them and the dcs will be occupied!

Congratulations Softymum!

Oli, I found you! Just a quick note to say that Eloise was delivered by CS (spinal block story for another day)at 38 weeks on 20/12 weighing 7lb12oz. She's obviously gorgeous, the image of her big sister.

Congratulations to everyone, commiserations to those still waiting!

TheOlihantheIvy · 24/12/2006 00:10

Congratulations babypowder, am very of your 38 weeks, about to hit 40 and no signs! Here's the list with Eloise added. I knew you must have had her which is why I added you to Babies, not bumps!

I wonder how many will have babies on Christmas Day

stokeymonkey · 24/12/2006 15:40

DON'T TEMPT FATE!!!
Giving birth on Xmas day is my worst nightmare!!

MardyBum · 24/12/2006 21:18

Baby is moving loads tonight, hope she is not gearing up to something. Just need to get through to tomorrow evening so we can have a peaceful day with dd1, then baby can come!

Being induced on Fri 29th at 42 weeks+3 if nothing has happened before then, still hoping for my home birth. Hope everyone has a great Christmas x

Baconbaps · 24/12/2006 22:38

Hello all

Just a quick one to let you know I had a little boy at 2.53 am Friday 22 December weighing 71b 12oz.

I was doing fine and just thinking 'Hmm, can't take too many more of these contractions before I call my sister to come over' when my waters broke and everything started to happen very quickly! Ended up going to hospital in an ambulance and managed not to push til we got there!

Anyway he is absolutely gorgeous although we are still deciding on a name that suits him. Will post pics when I get a chance. He is the best Xmas present I ever had!

Merry Xmas to all, congrats to those who have new arrivals and good luck to those still waiting.

Indith · 26/12/2006 17:27

New thread a couple more new babies.

Congrats for babypowder and baconbaps

Still pg, 2 days til d-day and starting to gt nightmares about going overdue!

kiskidee · 27/12/2006 06:27

congratulations on your christmas bundles everyone. just being nosy myself.

loulou000, just let your baby sleep on you, on dp, in your bed etc, etc. that is the way everyone will get more sleep. your baby just came out of the only home he knows and being alone is not something they know.

if your are bf this is also a handy link which if i had followed earlier would have been a lifesaver in the early days.

sorry for double posting. just wanted my note to get out.

a great book on how to live with newborns is this one

also, i think the piercing pain doesn't sound like a correct latch. post under 'breast and bottlefeeding' with more details if you feel like you need more advice.

Devongirl · 27/12/2006 09:27

Hey everyone, glad I found you - I thought there was no movement over Christmas on our old thread, and only realised it was full when I went to have a moan!

Anyway, I am now 41+1, fed up, realising that the birth is probably not going to be the relaxed, mid-wife unit, natural thing that I thought it was going to be and is more likely to be at the maternity unit at a different hospital, induced, loads of horrible medical intervention etc. I know the most important thing is that lo is delivered and is well but because of a family tragedy 13 years ago I just wanted everything to be in my control a bit (which I know is impossible, I was never in control to start with but at least I felt I was). Midwife is coming today so maybe she'll do a sweep and get things started. I have until next Tuesday to go into labour naturally and then the plan can go ahead, but I think I am going to be booked in for an induction anyway. I am very weepy when I think about it, it is just bringing back too many memories. I don't want to scare DH but I can't help crying. I just thought baby would be early, and now I feel like I've been pregnant for several years and it's not a good feeling. I am so fed up with everyone asking the obvious questions and all trying to work out possible outcomes and scenarios and second-guessing what the midwife will say. I just want to be left alone with DH, and let the baby come naturally, but it's not going to happen like that.

Sorry to moan , congratulations and envy to all those who have already had their babes - you are so lucky.

Dingdongdebbsyandbibbyonhigh · 27/12/2006 10:07

Still checking in on you Spina

santamum · 27/12/2006 14:30

Hi all,
Sorry to completely crash your thread but I just wanted to say congrats to all of you-I had my first baby on Boxing day last year and it was such a magical time to have a baby-we had her first birthday party yesterday, and a combination of that and your thread (and being pg again), have made me really emotional I think...

Enjoy all of your Christmas babies anyway!!
x

Hi All

Just to let you know Baby Jasmine arrived by emergency c section on 23/12/06, I have posted on the birth annoucemnets!!!

xx

satinshoes · 28/12/2006 10:48

Congrats Shell

Itsazoo's DD. Just let her get loads of rest now. the fact that you are asking how to help her shows you are probably already doing lots for her

pedilia · 28/12/2006 10:55

Amber was born at 11am yesterday morning, weighing 7.7 delivered by a male spanish midwife, now if the circumstances had been different

Quick labour, no time for any pain relief at the hospital and thankfully no tears or stiches.

stokeymonkey · 28/12/2006 19:09

well, today was my due date - it's come & gone with nothing much to report - Beastie is still really high up and my cervix is apparently 'rock hard', closed up tight and not at all ripe.

sigh

Is this EVER going to end??

TheOlihantheIvy · 28/12/2006 21:03

Well I wasn't expecting to be posting this today! Had a mw appointment yesterday afternoon and was told I couldn't have a sweep because baby wasn't engaged at all. So I came away very fed up and with a date for induction of 7th Jan. Was so fed up dh went out and bought me some castor oil!! Decided to have a go at nipple stimulation instead of the castor oil. Did it for 45 mins before the squeaking drove me mad and went to bed. 5 minutes later had a big twinge, within half an hour was puffing through contractions. Went to hospital at 12.30am, Benjamin James arrived an hour later weighing....

10lbs 2.5 oz on nothing but gas and air. Am now running on adrenaline and about to go to bed, just can't believe he was only a day late, how big he is and how quick and sudden it was.

Would definitely recommend nipple stimulation as a way of bringing on labour!! Either that or a Burger King Bacon Double Cheeseburger Meal - I had one yesterday and the night I went into labour with ds1, so maybe that's a secret induction method!

Not long to go now for everyone still waiting.

Indith · 28/12/2006 21:24

Olihant you bring hope for us all!

Stokey I am emitting sighs right along with you.

Today was D-day. Had MW appointment and a combination of her always being extra careful, Bump having measured at 37 for 3 weeks on the trot and reduced movements this week led to me being packed off for a trace. Bump of course put on a stellar performance and moved more in the 20 mins of being hooked up to the monitor than in the past 2 or 3 days!

So I'm just waiting..........

May have to try nipple stimulation now though!

Gem13 · 28/12/2006 21:43

(Am a lurker - due tomorrow)

Congratulations olihan - that sounds fantastic and what a big baby!

weirdbird · 28/12/2006 23:09

Hi all,

Congratulations to all you new mummies

Am still around and still PG, just feeling like I will be this way forever now, havn't even had a contraction for over a week now.

Generally feeling just a tad fed up with it all now and feel like I am in limbo land.

Can't even seem to muster up the motivation to bring on labour....

Devongirl · 29/12/2006 01:07

Hi, I am up with strong contractions - after midwife did a sweep on Wednesday afternoon, I started having a show that evening and contractions Wednesday night but they all stopped again, but these ones feel very different now. I have just started to time them so might wake DH up in a bit and ring the midwife unit... I feel very calm, I think being 10 days overdue is helping in a weird way because I am so focused on wanting him/her to come now.

Congratulations to all the little ones born lately - wow Olihan that is amazing, I hope mine isn't that big!!!!!!

Ouch, here's another one...

MardyBum · 29/12/2006 19:07

Hi, I gave birth to Hester Poppy on Boxing Day, she was born v quickly in hopsital, weighing 7 lb 14 oz. Unfortunately, although she seemed fine at birth she started having seizures later in the day, and is now in full intensive care while they try to bring them under control. It seems that she has had some kind of stroke soon after birth, but it is too early to say what level of brain damage we are looking at (the possibilities range from none to devastating). We are obviously extremely upset, and also quite numb at the moment. Have come out of hopsital myself today, as my dd1 needs me, and we are just trying to take a day at a time and adjust to the new situation.

Indith · 29/12/2006 19:46

My thoughts are all with you and your family Mardy.
