sorry to disappoint - I am still here and still blimmin pg!
was trying not to get too excited yesterday with all the cramps and stuff, but today there is nothing. Not a sausage. No show, no backache, no cramps. Am in a good mood and I haven't had any annoying texts from friends wanting to know whether I've had it yet.

It. Is. BEYOND. Annoying!

Went for a lovely muddy walk this afternoon, hoping that might help a little, but no, still nothing.
And I've already eaten all the christmas chocolate so there's nothing left for me to comfort-munch on. Gah!

Indith, Spina - are we the last ones??

Indith · 01/01/2007 17:01

I think we are Stokey.....

I've not had the slightest hint today either.

weirdbird · 01/01/2007 17:21

Theres me as well "waves"

Am feeling quite upset as I see the Consultant tomorrow at the Hosp and I really didnt think it would come to this. I really didnt want to end up labouring in Hospital, have tried everything except castor oil, having spent most of my pregnancy worrying me and everyone else that it was coming out early it has decided never to arrive

Had some contx last night but nothing came of them and then bump is so quiet and I spend all day panicking that everything is ok still, just want to have the baby and have the tests and find out that baby is ok "sob"

Indith · 01/01/2007 17:49

Hello WB!

Hope it goes well for you tomorrow. Guess when it comes down to it all that matters is the LO coming out even if it doesn't quite happen the way you wanted it to.

castlesintheair · 02/01/2007 10:46

Good luck you final ones. I feel for you all. Waiting is NO fun. Hope something happens (or has happened) for you soon and look forward to seeing you on the other side

Indith · 02/01/2007 13:32

Still pg! Bump feels so ready, went really really low yesterday the whole top section of my bump is empty and he seems to be staying pretty central instead of wrapping around my side. Whenever he moves I right down feel it right down low but still nothing is happening!

stokeymonkey · 02/01/2007 14:18

hello all,

still here too!
had a sweep this morning, mw said my cervix was soft-ish, so maybe things will start to happen soon. I feel sicky and bump feels very low. Not much happening after the sweep though, still no cramps or really much of anything more than a low-down ache.

sweep was really horrible, like the worst period pain - if that's what labour feels like I'm in trouble - am booked into a birthing centre because my local hospital is scary & horrible, and I don't want drugs or intervention.
They have nevertheless booked my induction for the evening of the 9th, so I have a week to get Beastie out before I get hooked up to a drip and will be forced to lie on my back strapped to a monitor in a ward with 20 other women and curtains that don't close.
And all on my own because DH will have been sent home because it's an evening appointment.

Gulp. Feeling a little bit scared...

any sign of Spina???

Indith · 02/01/2007 14:28

No fair you had a sweep already!

I don't get one until 7 days over so Thursday. Then have another week after that until they induce. Lke you that is my worst nightmare (although pretty sure most hospitals will allow your DH to stay until baby actually out!). I've got a homebirth booked so the thought of bing hooked up to computers and unable to walk around fills me with terror. Mind you I just want it out now so in a wek and a half I might not care quite so much about that!

stokeymonkey · 02/01/2007 14:42

nope, checked with the mw - if you're not in active labour by 11pm all the men get sent home and are not allowed back in again till 7am the following morning. How cruel is that???
Honestly, it's my idea of utter, terrifying hell, potentially having to go through an induction and the start of labour all by myself, all the way through a long night with no-one to talk to and rub my back!

REALLY hope you get your home birth Indith, and that your hospital doesn't have such nightmarish rules!

Am trying not to think about it too much, it gets the adrenaline going and that's not a good thing...

Indith · 02/01/2007 14:50

What! That is positively evil! Keeping everything crossed for you to get going before next week! (except legs.....)
Pretty sure men can stay with us....they can't stay overnight after baby out of course. My hospital has all private rooms though for labour and as long as it is not too busy I would be induced, deliver and recover in the same room (I think)

accessorizechristmas · 02/01/2007 19:53

Indith & stokey, hope things start moving for both of you SOON! Induction can take quite some time, it may not necessarily kickstart labour as soon as you are given pessary. Does it depend how ripe cervix is?
Spina, oh spina where are you?? Hospital, methinks?!

weirdbird · 02/01/2007 22:22

Also had a sweep today

Owww is all I can say!

Am booked in for induction on Sat, they wanted to make it Thursday but luckily for me they where fully booked up (as this is my DD first day back at school so would have been a bit of a nightmare!!) and he then decided to make it Sat, not sure why....

After having the sweep I thought I would try and do everything I could so went for a long walk, then came home and had a hot bath with Clary Sage and huge load of fresh pineapple, just the sex and breast pump to go and I have exhausted every option in one day, and so far havn't had a twinge

Indith · 03/01/2007 09:59

Went to bed, slept, woke up, still pg

Good going WB!I just can't be bothered with all that stuff anymore I've not had a twinge in days!

Sweep tomorrow. Anyone want to go trampolining?

jabberwocky · 03/01/2007 12:42

Hi all, just checking in. We'll be glad to see everyone on the other thread.

Don't forget about nipple stimulation!

stokeymonkey · 03/01/2007 15:26

hey all,

still here, going stark staring mad with frustration!
sweep was yesterday, apart from a tiny bit of bleeding i feel no different!
How is that possible???
DH has gone back to work, so being home alone with nothing happening is horrible, even though I know I don't really want to talk to anyone else anyway!
Urgh. Would sacrifice limbs to make something happen at this point. As it is I have been on all fours scrubbing at the grout on my kitchen floor tiles..

Any news from Spina? She must have had it by now..

Indith · 03/01/2007 15:36

Oh I know it just drives you nuts!

I keep making sure I have a reason to go to the shops every day (today was for tissues that I 'forgot' yesterday!) but otherwise I'm just getting cabin fever from sitting at home waiting! No motivation to do anything at all, not touched my sewing in ages. Only thing I was happily doing was hemming old terries to use for baby wipes but then my mum decided to help out and do them for me!

Oh well. DP not left the house all day..been glued to his computer writting many hundreds of words n German so I may persuade him to take a walk. Think he would walk to Tesco with me? That is a good 30 mins away...sods law by the time we got there and pushed a trolly around something would happen!

spina · 03/01/2007 22:29

NEWS!

Thomas Evan born New Years Day. More gorey detail on the birth announcment i will write once I've changed yet another mecconium nappy!!!!!!!!

Indith · 03/01/2007 22:40

Congratulations Spina! We thought you must have popped!

Indith · 04/01/2007 12:04

Had my sweep today. Feel a bit crampy, just hoping it gets moving!

Induction booked for 11th, hospital wanted me in on Tuesday but my wonderful MW insisted on exactly 42 weeks over.

stokeymonkey · 04/01/2007 17:57

hurrah! well done spina!

just had email from my nct teacher and she said something interesting about sweeps - if I can reach it, I could do one on myself. Must admit the thought hadn't occurred to me, so I might have a go. Perhaps after a bath later.
If you think about it, not much could go wrong, as long as you were all clean, right??
Feels a bit icky though. Though maybe marginally better than having some strange midwife shove her hand right up your fangita...

Anyway, just the three of us left then.
I hope your sweep is more effective than mine Indith!

And where's Weirdbird gone?

Indith · 04/01/2007 18:07

Hmmm interesting.....You shall have to let me know if you manage it! Must be better than the way my MW was thrusting up there to reach! Good practice for breathing and relaxing down there though! And yes where is WB? You don't think she has left us and had a baby has she? Hope so!

I realised that if it comes to induction for the lot of us I'm going to be last.

Calmriver · 04/01/2007 18:10

BIRTH ANNOUNCEMENT!!!!

WEIRDBIRD had 9lbs9oz Hannah yesterday lunchtime! She said she will post pics later!
.......
Sounds like all the 'measures' worked!!??

Indith · 04/01/2007 18:13

That is that one answered then! Great news

Right...the battle is on between Stokey and me! Judging by the lack of effort being made by my Bump I would put my money on Stokey being next!

Calmriver · 04/01/2007 19:17

Aww Indith...as long as you promise to join us on Dec post natal group though! ...after all, I am really a November!xx

Indith · 04/01/2007 19:33

Oh I will!

I took a little peek at the due in Jan thread and it was full of scary names I didn't know......
