thread #2 - TTC#1 Grads, sick bags at the ready!

We've finally got our BFPs and have started on the long winding road of pregnancy.

Most of us are starting, within, or just leaving the first trimester where bloating, unexplained discharge and constant nausea are watchwords of the day!

We're battling NHS inconsistencies, trying not to kill our midwives and desperately looking for a magic morning sickness cure... It's TTC#1 grads!!!

Oh lauren that's awful. Hope you feel better soon.

LittleBelle90 · 02/02/2016 07:33

Hello everyone I've been a bit quiet lately so checking in now. Good to see some new similar faces on here. I'm 7+2. Had my booking in appointment last Wednesday. My BMI is borderline for being too low and got a letter in the post yesterday to say I'm rheus negative which I thought I might be because my mum is too. I have my flu vaccine this Thursday, my midwife said she advised I get it asap. I also have an early scan this Saturday. Nausea is in full swing, all day every day! Don't know how long I can cope with it.

Runner05 · 02/02/2016 07:38

Miley I would definitely tell your boss. They'll want to do a risk assessment etc. to make sure you and your baby aren't put in any danger.

Bunch I think it depends on the hospital. At mine you definitely feed the photo money into a machine.

Lauren I hope you're feeling better now. Hopefully it was a one off.

OH has decided that he's up therefore I should be awake too Hmm

Hi ladies!
Confirmed bfp this morning on an FRER!
Currently storing a little poppy seed in my tum. No major symptoms yet, sore boobs/tender nipples and bloating.
Looking forward to hearing all your stories and being able to moan when the real pregnancy symptoms kick in!
Just a quick question, anyone else get really scared when they got their bfp? I'm a bit in shock that I'm actually going to have a human babyBlush

IrregularCommentary · 02/02/2016 08:19

Indi we've had a few more days to try and get our heads around it, but still reeling! I swing between excited, terrified and feeling like it's not real.

Dh said only last night, 'babe, you know that baby you've got growing in you?'
Me: 'yes?'
Dh: 'fucking hell'

DrWhy · 02/02/2016 08:42

So, my booking in appointment was even more underwhelming than I expected. No blood or urine samples, I have to come back for all that. I'll start off in consultant led care apparently because my mum had an unexplained DVT 12 years ago Confused and she's ticked the box that I want to have my baby in a hospital when actually I have a very strong preference for the community maternity unit! Oh and no mention of the flu jab at all - she basically went through the notes and ticked boxes, gave me a bunch of leaflets and told me she wouldn't see me again as the surgery currently has a vacancy for a midwife so I'll see a variety of people until it's filled - oh joy! She's also not filled in any of the contact numbers on the notes (midwife, hospital, maternity unit etc) I am unimpressed!
As I suspected they don't think I'll get my scan in week 11 before DH goes away so we've booked one privately.
We've also for a house which is going to closing (sealed bids) tomorrow and DH wants to put a higher offer in than I'm happy with which involves borrowing money off his dad until the sale of his current flat goes through and would mean we couldn't do any of the extension or redecoration that we wanted to on it...
The nausea is kicking in and I'm so tired... Combined with the constant looming fear of redundancy (company announced another round of losses recently) I'm just exhausted and worried.
Then of course I get a bunch of leaflets telling me how stress is bad for baby...!
Sorry for the long whinge Blush
Runner how are things going with your mum? Have you found accommodation for her yet?

Runner05 · 02/02/2016 09:10

Oh Dr that's terrible but it seems to be par for the course with midwives. I'm now fairly certain the ones who do the appointments are just glorified admin assistants who are incapable of anything but ticking boxes and aren't very good at that Sad

Hopefully your next appointment will be better.

Thanks for asking about my mum. Yes, we've found a care home Smileshe should have moved in yesterday but they had a flood at the weekend so they're just drying out the room. Hopefully she'll be in by the end of the week and we can get her settled. I really need to get round to her flat to pack her clothes but she's just going to have to make do until I can pull myself together a bit.

Ok, I'm telling my boss today. Wish me luck! Think I'll be ok saying "mate, I'm upduffed"? Why am I so nervous?!

I'm sure your mum will understand runner

Mileymoocow · 02/02/2016 09:20

Is it normal to feel very nauseous and crampy in the 4th week?

BunchOfBobs · 02/02/2016 10:42

Congrats Indi. The dead is definitely normal. I'm mostly excited now but still have bouts of terror ha!

Miley most of us here had cramps at the beginning. They're like AF cramps so don't be suprised to be doing a knicker check every 5 mins. Mine peaked at week 6/7 and fooked off after week 7 thank god. Now I just have pain in my nethers (still) which is apparently tendon stretching.

Pinklily1 · 02/02/2016 10:58

Bunch, I am so pleased you mentioned be nethers pain - I've had that all morning and was worrying, but stretching makes sense.

Miley, hope it goes well with your boss. "mate I'm upduffed" sounds perfect to me Grin.

Dr, I know it's easy to say but try not to stress too much. Put your foot down with OH re the house if needs be.

Mileymoocow · 02/02/2016 11:18

bunch I've definitely been doing the knicker check as i'm erm... damp too. So glad to hear it's normal.

pink thanks! How else do you tell a male that wants you to be as productive as possible?! I've just told our on site nurse (who used to be a midwife) and she was sooo happy for me (see her a lot as her daughter is a friend of mine)

Laurenrl · 02/02/2016 11:26

I also a weird pain/cramp in my pelvis but only if I stand up quickly or turn over sharply in the night, have put it down to stretching as its only on those 2 occasions!

Nevlet · 02/02/2016 12:17

Been sent home from work with another blinding headache/dizziness with this time the added joy of dry heaving too. Think I will need to see the Gp about the headaches as I have a history of them which is normally treated with a cocktail of painkillers and now I cant have anything! Sorry for the selfish whinge girls but had such an awful time trying to teach with it this morning that ended in crying/gagging in assistant head's office. How embarrassing!

IndiX · 02/02/2016 16:00

Thanks for the nice messages ladies, still doesn't feel real. I don't think I can hold it in from my mum much longer tbh!
Hope all you lovely mummies are well, the wind has definitely arrived here! I sound like a trumpet Blush

shelbTa · 02/02/2016 17:45

Hi everyone,

Glad you made it though pink, well done!

Nev - that sounds awful! I empathise with you as I suffered really badly with blinding migraines whilst on pill, and had one last night combined with mega bad nausea - luckily fell asleep and slept it off. Let me know what your doc says.

X

iPatches · 02/02/2016 19:10

indi - Congratulations! Grin I am also still in shock about my BFP too. You and I must only be a few days apart. It feels like such a long journey and there's so many worries along the way. I'm anxious but trying to take one day at a time.

Newmrs22 · 02/02/2016 19:27

Ooh hi newbies! Congrats! There's loads of us now. How exciting!

I think I'm turning a corner and starting to feel better (11+2 today), although last times said that I felt dreadful the next day.

Interestingly at my scan the doctor (it's a fetal med unit so doctors instead of sonographers) let us have our pics for free. They just said don't tell reception! It was only 9 weeks so they said there's not loads to see, have it!

IndiX · 02/02/2016 19:42

Ipatches yes I'm a bit anxious too, it's such early days. We actually told our immediate family this evening, we explained it is VERY early but we are such a close family (especially me and my mum) I couldn't imagine keeping quiet for 3 months and I want to share every part of the journey.
I keep worrying that AF is going to arrive, I'm going to take another pg test tomorrow just to make sure haha!

iPatches · 02/02/2016 19:46

Keeping ours quiet for as long as we can. Worried that if I talk or even think about it being "real", something will go horribly wrong. Sad

IndiX · 02/02/2016 20:36

I know it's hard not to think of the scary things that could go wrong ipatches. I'm sure if we keep positive, healthy and fit we'll have a smooth ride except for the farts, sickness and tight clothes. Have you got any other symptoms? How far are you?

Runner05 · 02/02/2016 20:44

Evening ladies Smile

Miley how did it go telling work?

Nev I hope you're feeling a little better now?

Indi don't worry, you'll get used to it. I find it's easier on days when you have really strong symptoms.
The wind will be here to stay. I've honestly farted so many times so loudly today that Even my OH has started raising an eyebrow.

Ipatch I know it's scary but try not to worry about all the things that could go wrong. At this point there's nothing that you can do other than follow the do's and don'ts advice and hope for the best.

New I really hope you're right and you're getting better. It's about the right timing for the placenta to take over. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

I'm feeling so bloated this evening. I can hardly lean forward to pick up my drink. It's like someone's blown up one of those massive extra strong balloons in my stomach Confused
I'm just about to buy one of those body length pillows to lean on while I sleep. I've been finding it harder and harder to lay on my side without something to lean on... I think the curse of my family's tendency to show early has hit in earnest Confused

iPatches · 02/02/2016 21:26

I know Runner - it's absolutely out of my hands as long as I follow all of the new rules (which I was pretty much following whilst TTC anyway). I just want everything to be okay Sad.

Been having some cramps and sharp twinges. The twinges are quite painful but don't last long. From what I've read, this is normal? Also they seem to be on both sides of my uterus (I don't know what I was expecting here - just one side?!?!?) Confused

iPatches · 02/02/2016 21:30

Indi - I am only 4+1 so REALLY early days. Haven't had many symptoms - huge painful boobs, twinges as mentioned above and mild indigestion whenever I eat anything! Otherwise feeling perfectly normal - exhausted, but that is normal for me because I work a lot of hours. How are you?

IndiX · 02/02/2016 21:39

Oh ipatches I'm 4 weeks on the dot! Super early days but I couldn't help but tell my mum, I think it has sunk in now I've told a real person. Yeah I'm the same, feel fine. Boobs feel huge, heavy and tender to touch plus I'm pretty tired but apart from that I feel fine.
I know I sound mad but I think I may keep poas with cheap asda tests for a little while. Just to make sure...want to poas on a daily basis until my midwife appt in 3 weeks Blush
