Yikes magpie, hopefully it's nothing serious!

marmiteandcheeseplease · 18/02/2016 17:16

Fingers crossed its just a bad cold magpie, hope all ok.

Sorry to hear about your crap day suz

Just been to visit a colleague of mine in hospital with some of my other work colleagues. Really made me sure I want a home birth! Nothing wrong with the hospital itself, its very clean etc and I had no issues when I had DD there but he was complaining about lack of privacy and just wanting to get home now and I remembered how desperate I was to just get home after DD was born and I was only in for one night!

Off out with DP tonight for a nice meal, we figured once the baby is here it'll be a while before we can go out for dinner anywhere nice so squeezing in some quality grown up time with good food before then!

vroc81 · 18/02/2016 17:33

Have been dispatched to maternity... Blood pressure up and went higher during appointment.. If this is because I power walked to the surgery I mean pregnancy power walk obvs she's all fine have been on the trace and now off and my blood pressure was back down by the time they rechecked but now waiting on the doctor...

Saw lots of knackered looking women and very new babies walking down to triage, had a shit I might have one of those soon moments!!

vroc81 · 18/02/2016 17:37

suz sorry you had a crap day and their lunch efforts were pants, my place are doing nothing precisely nothing for me!

magpie hope all is ok, and it's just a bad cold.. Sorry started my post and then couldn't reach my phone until released and didn't see yours!

Me624 · 18/02/2016 17:59

Oh no hope you're ok doc and vroc.

It's my last day at work tomorrow, I'm really looking forward to being off! But expect I'll be a bit sad tomorrow too to be leaving my lovely team. I've been telling all my clients this week and I've had some lovely messages from them and one even sent me a gift (a toy you hang on the car seat) which was so sweet.

marmite I am having a hospital birth as it's my first but I feel exactly the same about hospitals (in fact I seem to remember we're even the same hospital - RBH) and am really hoping I don't have to stay in long at all. My DH had a minor operation there in October which he was supposed to be in and out the same day but had some complications so was kept in overnight in the end and I spent almost 36 hours straight there and I just hate it! Everything was clean and all the staff were kind but they're not nice environments to be in.

Rosieblossom123 · 18/02/2016 18:18

Me I bet you're looking forward to relaxing though since being on maternity I've been so relaxed but it's making me focus more on baby which is annoying as I'm getting impatient now. Reg hospitals have you not got the option to be in basingstoke? Who knows we might be there at the same time haha Grin

BeautifulLiar · 18/02/2016 18:43

Happy birthday Rhubarb!

Rosieblossom123 · 18/02/2016 18:45

I've got a question, ftm so haven't got a clue! I've been having really strong belly tightening braxton hicks contractions for the last 3 hours and it feels like it's every 15 mins and baby doesn't feel like she's moving as much shall I be worried. Shall I phone labour line?

Paperblank · 18/02/2016 19:10

Happy Birthday Rhubarb FlowersCakeBrew

Rosie I would phone, I don't think I've had any B-H (guessing I'd know if I had?) At the least they'll be able to put your mind at rest. Let us know what they say x

Me Enjoy your last day at work. I can't believe I've had two weeks off already - the time has flown.

Doc That cake is seriously impressive, some people are so clever! It's such a lovely gift.

Suz Sorry you had a crappy day FlowersChocolate (Hug)

Marmite enjoy your meal, quality grown up time sounds good. I might nick your idea and suggest the same to DH Grin

Vroc hope you're okay lovey?

Well I am all tidy downstairs Grin My beauty therapist was brilliant, I barely flinched. I was sooo tempted to have a facial while I was there...the couch was heated and very comfy and when she told me she'd got someone in for a head massage after me I was unbelievably jealous.

DH and I have also finished off all our little jobs at home. The house looks gorgeous just needs it's newest and littlest occupant to arrive now!

Enjoy your evening all!!

TheMshipIsBack · 18/02/2016 19:49

Hope all the ladies in for monitoring are doing ok!

Rosie you should certainly phone in for reduced movements. I've been borderline about calling a few times and given it thirty minutes with a cold drink, but you're into 4 hours by now.

Happy birthday rhubarb!

TheMshipIsBack · 18/02/2016 19:55

suz you can dye your own plain cheap white muslins really easily with dylon hand dyes. I did mine for DS bright purple and yellow, they're gorgeous. One sachet dyes about 6 regular muslins. Use washing up gloves, rinse well, and give them a regular machine wash before using.

Trinpy · 18/02/2016 20:24

This is probably a couple of hours too late for you Rosie but wrt the braxton hicks, did you try moving around a bit and drinking a glass of water? If that doesn't get rid of them or at least calm them down then I would second getting some advice from a mw. I find it harder to feel movements when I'm getting lots of braxton hicks too.

Trinpy · 18/02/2016 20:55

Happy Birthday Rhubarb!

Shock at those of you having waxes at this stage. Some very brave ladies on this thread! I hope the mws appreciate it Grin. I'm doing the same as others and just going to do a quick trim nearer to my due date. I will probably shave my legs when I go into labour even though, as you say, no one else will care - but I care, so I'm doing it.

Amazing nappy cake doc. What a lovely present.

Sorry to hear today was such a let down Suz, hopefully your last day will go much better.

Hope everything is OK with you both magpie and vroc Flowers.

Ds is teething, which explains why he's been a bit...challenging recently. I've texted dh to pick up some calpol on his way home, so fx we will all get a decent nights sleep tonight. How likely do you think it is that all 4 teeth will have appeared within the next 4 weeks? I've completely forgotten how long these things take!

I got my tunic top for giving birth in in the post today and its far too small around my bump Sad. So I'm back to searching for something to wear.

Rosieblossom123 · 18/02/2016 20:56

Thanks girls I phoned up and they asked me to go to the hospital to monitor baby. On the monitor it's picking up my contractions and it's every 10 mins so they reckon it might be the start of labour but as its early they might send me home until they get closer and more frequent. Waiting to see doctor now. Will keep you girls updated.

RhubarbAndMustard · 18/02/2016 21:18

Thanks everyone Grin. Just back from a yummy meal and cheeky 'small' glass of Prosecco. Hope you had a fab meal too marmite.

Wow Rosie! You could be next!!. Please keep us updated if you can. Bound to be in CSC tonight so will keep checking in for any updates and support if needed.

Vroc, Magpie hope all ok.

Rosieblossom123 · 18/02/2016 21:28

Thank you Rhubarb and happy birthday glad you had a lovely evening. I'm off the monitors now they said baby's happy just waiting to see the doctor but apprently gotta see how the next few hours go at home, so if my contractions get stronger I'd have to come back.

vroc81 · 18/02/2016 21:55

Happy birthday rhubarb

We're OK, finally home, they did a trace and checked my BP when got there but then had to wait for blood then doctor in which time my pee had gone from protein free to a possible trace so wee is off for proper check and I'm back on Monday for a BP check if I hear nothing before then..

Rosie hope the doctor doesn't take too long and you can get some rest at home, did not realise how uncomfortable hospital beds were until this afternoon..

IndomitabIe · 18/02/2016 22:07

Evening all.

A dramatic day in some quarters?!

vroc, glad you're home.

marmite, hope you haven't got swine flu and you're on the way home too.

Exciting times, Rosie! (Now that we know baby's all fine). How many weeks are you? Given we haven't heard from ThePug still (have we?) you could be #3!

We've had a day out today, I was fine till the hour long drive down which did something to my pelvis, so I've had loads of pain in a sacro-ileac joint (spelling-schmelling), as well as cervix-grinding Octo-baby. Really noticeable BHs this evening too (having had next to none this pg, to have had enough that I started looking at the clock is quite significant. Pretty sure they're only BHs though, which is good as I'm only 35 weeks).

I've got very mixed feelings about being pregnant at the moment. This is most definitely the last time I'm doing it. And I've felt pretty good/normal (until this huge, ungainly section), and being pregnant does change the way people behave around you - make you feel special, you know? And then there's the whole thing of my littlest baby being all tucked up in there, safe, nourished, quiet etc. Feeling the lovely albeit painful kicks and squirms. But man, I'm so over being this shape. I saw so many people with small children in carriers (and posh prams) today, I'm so envious of their intact pelvises and lack of acid reflux! I shouldn't be wishing the next 5 weeks away, it's the last time I'll be able to have these feelings & sensations, but I'm so over it!

Rosieblossom123 · 18/02/2016 22:19

vroc I completely agree my back is absolutely killing me now glad I'm not stating the night there. They were happy for me to go home, baby's happy they said to keep an eye on the contractions and to let them know when they get stronger, they reckon she might be here any day so scary Shock

Indom I'm 37+4 so the mw said I'm basically full term and allowed to give birth anytime now so fx!! I'm on the same boat completely over being pregnant I just want her here. My belly is always in the way I know it sounds horrible but I'm fed up now!!

ffauxlivia · 18/02/2016 22:21

Hi all, wow so much to catch up on in just one day.

wow rosie sounds potentially exciting! So glad you went in!

I've been having loads of BH for a few weeks, but didn't even realize what they were, only just dawned on me yesterday - thought it was just wind or baby balling up, how embarrassing Blush they have been quite frequent today but I assume it doesn't mean much this early? (35 weeks)

Happy Birthday rhubarb! Aw the nappy cake looks awesome!

vroc glad you're okay. Hope you got seen about the UTI maybe (shocking treatment), and magpie hope it was just a cold? How scary everything gets at this stage.

Sorry for all the crappy midwife stories too, sounds so stressful. We don't really have midwives here but I see the OB or a nurse every week now, and if I want to see them or have a question it always gets sorted instantly. Care really has been excellent, benefits of paying for it I guess - my health insurance is only about £30 a month so feels worth it right now. Wouldn't trade it for the NHS ever though - I just happen to be lucky as my employer pays out for excellent insurance.

Anyway, missi so happy to hear little Zach is getting better, are you all home again now?

No indom today? She's been conspicuously absent! Hope all is okay :)

beautiful ah sorry about the home birth - they really are up and down with you aren;t they? Don't feel guilty about calling an ambulance though, they seem to genuinely believe that's the safest option for you and baby and that's what ambulances are for!

You ladies getting waxed are ever so brave!

ffauxlivia · 18/02/2016 22:26

Ooh I took so long to post I missed yours indom haha, I thought it was strange to hear nothing :) Weirdly I had the pelvic pain you mentioned yesterday and also felt like I pulled a muscle in my vagina? I could just about hobble to the bus stop, but it improved with some gentle yoga later....and had lots of BH too.

Feeling exactly the same way as you about being pregnant right now - maybe it's a 35 week thing, the first time I've felt like having a proper moan, but still part of me loves being pregnant and want her in there for a while longer yet.

IndomitabIe · 18/02/2016 22:28

Here I am ffaux. Been out yesterday and today, and generally vague when home! Been following but then got way behind the action.

I've got exam papers out to mark so am onto avoidance tactics (hence paying attention to the BHs too, I suspect!)

docmcstuffins1 · 19/02/2016 04:34

I too am fully over being pregnant. Third night in a row of CSC. Awake at 03:30, and just been randomly sick as well. Fed up of being uncomfortable! 38 weeks today though so hopefully not too much longer, can't beat the thought that going over could mean another 4 weeks of this!

Rosie how exciting, keep us posted! now where are those werthers

Happy Birthday for yesterday Rhubarb

Suz sorry you had such an emotional day.

Magpie I saw about the swine flu cases on the news. Hope yours is just a bad cold and you feel better soon.

CharleytheFrenchPoodle · 19/02/2016 04:52

Ugh, I'll join you with csc doc Sad Been up once because of DD and twice for the loo and now up again as DD thinks it's time to get up for the day. Currently stood at her door shushing her in a battle of wills which I'm trying not to let her win Hmm Thank God it's my last day at work, I don't have the energy for pregnancy, a toddler and full time work!
Good luck rosie I hope everything is going well and you get to meet your little girl soon!
Happy birthday for yesterday rhubard hope you had a lovely day Flowers

Missikat · 19/02/2016 05:05

Morning Charley and Doc! I'm also in the CS/NAN (nursing a newborn)C!

Zach's spell in hospital has made him feed every 1.5-2 hours now, typically only overnight tho, in the day he's still having 3-3.5 hours between.

How exciting Rosie they your baby may be on the way soon!

Will do a proper catch up tomoz. Enjoying being back at home in my own bed, the hospital room on the children's ward we've been in for last 2.5 days has been seriously grim. So glad to be out.
