Definitely can't see myself going into labour before 40 weeks. Reckon I'll be a good week overdue at least.

I sympathise magpie, as also feel massive and can't stop eating , but there's not a lot we can do at this point. My sister put on 5 stone with her first and lost it all within 6 months.

QforCucumber · 05/02/2016 18:57

magpie open the chocolate - 8 hours of healthy eating a day is more than enough for anyone in these situations!

35+1 today, finish work next Friday. Then new bed getting delivered the Tuesday after and kitchen floor getting fitted same day - baby can come anytime from 37 weeks onwards, but I have no idea if that's likely or not!

Checked pretty much everything off our lists now so physically prepared - mentally, nope I'm not ready at all!

dobbythedoggy · 05/02/2016 18:59

36+2 here and a hormonal mess! I had a full snotty sobbing hysterics last night which poor dh had to deal with because I was yawning so much as I lay in bed driffiting off my eyes were watering... Then woke up an hour later to be very sick and had a very justified cry in the shower while I washed sick out of my hair. Dh tucked me back up and other than strugling out of bed for a 2 am wee slept very soundly. I did dream very vivdly I was in early labour and have felt quite huffy and stroppy that clearly wasn't the case. Although I'm driving myself crazzy trying to symptom spot now! Not that we're at all ready for bump to arrive, need to finish putting stuff back where it belongs and put up the cot.

Dd is now sat playing nicely with her cars and garage. But has been in full on threenager mode this afternoon. Cooked her fishfingers, potatos and peas for tea at her request, she then spent the better part of half and hour lying on the floor crying over the fact there were potatos on her plate. Granny popped in with a pink donut, normally the best treat ever, so she decided to eat her tea, then restart antics over pink donut having sprinkles on, as it normal does.

magpie hope you get home soon, I'd cry and eat the chocolate...

IndomitabIe · 05/02/2016 19:11

TheM: "I am so impressed at everyone working past 36 weeks. I know I could do it if I had to, but it would be a struggle and I'd be worried that the quality of my work would suffer."

Yeah, my work probably will. But they haven't managed to recruit anyone at all to cover yet, so rubbish-me is better than an unqualified non-specialist! (There really is a teacher crisis - we're an ace school in a beautiful and desirable part of the country, I'm amazed that no one wants the position).

Yes, magpie, eat the chocolate. It won't "undo" your good diet so far today. Diet should be looked at over a longer period of time. You've done better than if you hadn't bothered to eat well all day and had the choc anyway!

Sorry for dipping in & out but a little update from me:

My consultant team (for T1 diabetes) were concerned last week about my blood sugar levels/insulin requirement possibly indicating the placenta was starting to deteriorate so I was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday for monitoring and to get the steroid injections to speed up baby's lung development in case he needed to be born extra early. I was always going to be induced by 38 weeks, but things have now been moved forward a couple of weeks.

All monitoring showed baby happy & active and growing fine - a little too fine in fact, as at 35 weeks yesterday his tummy measurement was that of a 39+4'er! And estimated weight of 6lbs 3.

I have to go in for monitoring on Mon, Wed & Fri next week and may be kept in & induced at any point, but if all ok, they'll be inducing me first thing Saturday morning (13th). I'll be 36+2 then, so only just under 'term' and they're happy that's a good compromise between him hopefully not needing to go to NICU (especially as he's had the steroids) but not risking anything deteriorating or going wrong leaving it later.

Knowing how long inductions can take, looks like I may be due a Valentines Day baby!

Fortunately was planning to more or less stop working today anyway (own business, handover to temp mainly done) so at 5.30 tonight I set my out of office email which is a great feeling!

Now for a weekend of washing the last few bits of bedding/blankets, buying nursing bras and trying to express some colostrum so we have extra as he'll likely need to get his blood sugar up.

Will let you know when he's here Smile

MrsBenWyatt · 05/02/2016 20:08

Good luck, ThePug. Keep us posted.

Me624 · 05/02/2016 20:20

Eek good luck Pug. Hope baby stays out as long as possible but at least he's a good size and will have had the benefit of steroids.

magpie I give zero fucks about my diet at this stage! Eat the chocolate.

MyNameIsSuz · 05/02/2016 20:30

Oh wow Pug, good luck!

Paperblank · 05/02/2016 21:02

Fingers crossed for you! Hope all goes well and your little boy arrives safe and well

Good luck Pug; hope you make it to the 13th ok. A Valentine's baby sounds great! Gosh, it's all getting a bit real isn't it!

Had to laugh at ds2 (nearly 3yrs) today; he was saying "oh blast" when dominos kept toppling and he didn't want them to (probably my fault that phrase), then changed to "oh cannon bullets". Intrigued, I asked where this came from and was mystified when he replied "Wallace and Gromit". Eventually I twigged, he was referring to Camembert!

neh (think it was you suggested liquid iron), I went to the gp yesterday and was prescribed liquid iron, which so far has been much better. Fx it continues to be ok and I can get my iron levels back to normal.

Suz, I think you can take Rennies/ Gaviscon with iron supplements, just wait 2 hrs after the iron tablets then take indigestion remedies. My liquid iron says not to take with milk, which has scuppered one of my better ways of trying to reduce indigestion.

Magpie please eat the chocolate, then the rest of us can feel better at how much bad stuff we've eaten today (well, me anyway!)

Ohwoolballs · 05/02/2016 21:27

I will be 33 weeks tomorrow! The baby has been kicking up a storm doing what I'm fondly calling "the synchronised frog" which as he is head down, is just as comfortable as you can imagine.....

trinpy what a bugger about the chest infection! Rest up love 🍰

paperblank Messing up online orders is what I'm brill at, DP won't let me do it again without him checking I'm buying the right things - I somehow bought 12 bottles of tonic water and forgot fabric softener last time 😬

magpie I hope you read this whilst the kids are in bed, you've got your feet up and under a soft blanket with a brew and a massive fruit and nut bar. 🍫 You deserve it! Healthy eating is all about balance (and there's enough raisins to be one of your five a day in the bar..... Right?)

Indomitable Ooh! The book was The Seveneves - I'll be dead embarrassed if you think it's terrible!

dobby massive love to you. You should write down a few of the daugters antics just to remind her of what an adorable loon she was - perfect for getting out at big moments in her life graduation/wedding etc. I hope remember to do something like that with this pfb, ill probably forget though!

pug Wow! All action stations soon then! Fingers crossed everything goes smoothly and is timed to just when you want it to be!

shieldbug I smiled reading about your DS 🙂 Very cute and congrats on keeping him on top form wth classic British culture 😉

hayleycookie · 05/02/2016 21:30

Wow good luck Pug! Look forward to hearing all about the birth!
Shield your ds2 sounds so adorably cute!
Suz I take Rennies but make sure to leave it a while after my iron. You can take milk but apparently it slows the absorption of the iron and so does caffeine.
Magpie eat the chocolate. There was an article saying chocolate is good for the baby the other day ;) I hope you have a better day tomorrow Flowers
35+1 today. 2 weeks til term eek!! Really don't want to go overdue this time! Will be getting some raspberry leaf tea tomorrow and as of 2 weeks will start trying the long walks/curry/pineapple lol

magpiedreams · 05/02/2016 22:13

Oooh, got luck pug! Keep us all posted, you're frontrunner to have baby #2 but I guess someone could still pip you to the post.

Thanks all for the support and encouragement to eat the fruit and nut! I got home and got DC into bed without too much shenanigans and actually DS read to me beautifully which cheered me up and reminded me being a parent is a real pleasure at times (ignoring the fact DD is apparently in cahoots with dobby's DD in the category of 'random histrionics' - we have also had donut-sprinkle related disagreement in recent weeks. Sympathy.).

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend with appropriate amounts of relaxing, nesting, chocolate-eating and, maybe even labouring!! I'm only 33 weeks so looking forward to cheering you on from the sidelines while I'm waiting in line x

Trinpy · 05/02/2016 22:40

Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy and the birth Pug (in case you don't have time to update until after your baby arrives!).

IndomitabIe · 06/02/2016 08:10

Morning all,

Good luck Pug.

I've had hip-cramp on and off this morning (every time I roll over that hip joint cramps - there's no escaping it), now left with a persistent ache in my right hip.

And I had the most bizarre dreams: I dreamt I gave birth, but to this tiny palm-sized thing (that, in the dream, was full term), in a spa-hospital, that I'd got to by escaping a flood by body-surfing the floodwaters. Confused

BeautifulLiar · 06/02/2016 08:29

Good luck Pug!

magpiedreams · 06/02/2016 08:35

Great dream indom, I think...! Hope your baby is not Borrower sized in real life! Bonkers. Gotta love birth dreams.
Last night I dreamt I woke up with the baby between my legs after no labour! But the placenta didn't deliver so I ended up in the Greys Anatomy hospital with the cast trying to work out what to do about the missing placenta.

1frenchfoodie · 06/02/2016 08:44

I was quite looking forward to vivid dreams (memories of a year on antmalarials that gave crazy dreams). The only one I can remember so far was the moost boring tale of having overpaid my rail travelcard. Thanks all for tips on rennies/iron.

docmcstuffins1 · 06/02/2016 08:59

Morning all!

How very exciting that we could soon have another baby. Good luck Pug. I'm 36+1 today so approaching the "could be any time" camp. It's all getting scarily real now.

DH and I are going to start getting the baby stuff moved into the nursery today as the weather is rubbish - a lovely day of nesting is on the cards. Smile Hope everyone has a lovely Saturday.

IndomitabIe · 06/02/2016 09:29

magpie, I'm absolutely certain octobaby is fucking massive normal sized!

Glad it's not just me with the bizarre dreams!

I'm feeling so vague today. Can't quite follow a conversation, can't think how to respond for a good few minutes. I remember this feeling from when I was overdue with DS. 33 weeks is a bit early for it!

MyNameIsSuz · 06/02/2016 09:50

I've been having odd dreams too. I remember them getting so much worse after the birth, and they were always about losing the baby somewhere peculiar!

I've got ds to myself today as dh is working, and I feel horrendous! So tired, headachey and a bit sicky. So far he's still in pyjamas and I'm only halfway dressed, not sure we're going to make the craft session at the library... which might be a good thing as the library sends him mad and I spend all my time chasing after him as quietly as I can while he gads about.

IndomitabIe · 06/02/2016 10:01

Suz, if I were you, and if the weather there is anything like it is here, I'd batten the hatches and get a free month of Netflix/NowTV and get some films on.

We're used to storms here, and maybe it's just cos we haven't dried out in weeks, but it's getting alarmingly wet out there! (I'm in the west, so I'm sure you'll all get this delight eventually!)

When I was pg with DS I used to dream about losing the cat in odd buildings, etc. I think my brain couldn't imagine a baby, so replaced it with the cat instead!

MyNameIsSuz · 06/02/2016 10:09

That's what we've been doing so far indomitable, and yeah it's pretty miserable, but we need to get something for lunch anyway and the library is behind waitrose so it kind of makes sense... Will definitely spend the afternoon sneakily snoozing on the sofa while he watches tv!

MyNameIsSuz · 06/02/2016 11:04

You were right, we're still at home!

IndomitabIe · 06/02/2016 15:33

I've had absolutely no energy today. We were out this morning but since then I've mainly dozed on the sofa, staggering to the kitchen occasionally.

I've been fine all week. It feels like a physical exhaustion, but maybe it's just psychological because it's Saturday!
