Ooh lovely wool eastend what are you going to make?

Coldest · 07/02/2016 14:21

Wow lovely clothes and wool. Love the yellow colour

MollieRos · 07/02/2016 16:51

Lovely Eastend what will the wool be made into?

And congratulations Billi!

I've been having loads of braxton hicks contractions all day today, they're driving me mad. Not so many to be worried about, but enough to make me feel uncomfy- a couple an hour I think. They just feel so unpleasant. I've been drinking lots of water as I heard that dehydration can make them worse, but of course that means I've been backwards and forwards to the toilet all day!

MadrigalElectromotive · 07/02/2016 17:51

Cute little outfits Eastend. What are you planning to make with the wool?

MadrigalElectromotive · 07/02/2016 17:52

Oh and Mollie, I've been having Brixton hicks too - annoying aren't they?!

nehagarg · 07/02/2016 18:08

Lovely clothes and wool Eastend. What's the wool going to become?

Just got given a bucket load of clothes by a friend, ranging from early baby to 6 months. Will still buy some white babygros once the man is out and I know how big he is, but its lovely to have a box ready that I can dip into if and when I need the next size up.

24 week growth scan day tomorrow. I really hope I can sleep tonight.

Good luck nehagarg!!! I'm sure it will all be fine, and just really reassuring!

Also dragged home masses of hand-me-downs today, as well as getting DS's newborn stuff back from the friend who borrowed it (plus a load of bits...). I think we are sorted up to 12 months already!!

Eastend2015 · 07/02/2016 18:49

Thanks all! I'm hoping to make a couple of little cardies/ jumpers. Not sure how unisex the colours are though, especially the purpley/ green one!

Wow braxton hicks sounds awful- I had no idea you could get them this early.

Ooh those clothes look cute too Nehagarg! You are lucky to get lots of hand me downs. Good luck for your growth scan, I'll be thinking of you xxx

emma85x · 07/02/2016 19:03

Good luck for tomorrow nehagarg I hope all goes well. What time is your scan? Will be thinking of you. Get a photo if you can!

We bought our nursery furniture on EBay today! Absolutely chuffed we paid £500 for a wardrobe, changing unit with drawers and a cot bed. The changing unit alone retails for £855. (mamas and papas ocean furniture range) In total if bought new it would be £2,500. Absolute Bargain!!! Very exciting!

strawberrypenguin · 07/02/2016 19:31

Good luck for tomorrow nehagarg

Sounds like a good deal emma :)

nehagarg · 07/02/2016 20:44

Thanks everyone. Smile

Emma thats a great deal. What cot bed did you buy? I am looking at them and like prams there are soooo many choices

Good luck tomorrow nehagarg, I'm sure you'll be fine. And lovely clothes Smile

emma bargain!

Eastend they're not painful or anything, I just find the sensation really unpleasant, and it's very distracting when I'm at work. I started getting them at around 18 weeks- I had no idea you could get them that early either, but apparently they can start at 16 weeks! They've just got far more frequent the last few days, and they're driving me mad. Madrigal do you know of anything which will stop them? Changing position doesn't seem to help, I just have to wait a minute or so till they fade off by themselves.

LouLou030783 · 07/02/2016 20:52

Totally lost this thread along the way congrats on most recent scans mine is eventually on Tuesday can't wait it's totally dragged in.

Pram shopping on Wednesday aswell so many choices same with car seats X how's everyone on this thread keeping?

MadrigalElectromotive · 07/02/2016 22:56

Unfortunately not Mollie - I've just waited for them to pass each time. I think I've been a bit dehydrated the last few days so I've been trying to work on that but I'll let you know if anything works! Smile

MadrigalElectromotive · 08/02/2016 06:17

Best of luck today nehagarg. Will be thinking of you.

Belleboo23 · 08/02/2016 07:58

Good luck with the scan!! Xx

I'm back to the maternity hospital this afternoon for my premature prevention appointment, be interesting to see what happens with that.

I think I've had some Braxton hicks already my tummy goes hard and tight for 20-30 seconds not painful but unpleasant...does that sound like Braxton hicks!!

laughingGnomette · 08/02/2016 10:27

emma - we got the ocean cot bed off eBay for DS, it's been great, as solid as a rock, the drawer at the bottom is big enough to store all of his bedding, nappies and wipes. This baby will inherit it when he is six months old :).

Best of luck nehagarg and anyone else with scans today! Belle, I hope your appointment goes well.

eastend - gorgeous wool! Love the little outfit too.

Eastend2015 · 08/02/2016 11:33

Thanks! Smile just had my first nursery show around (although no guarantee of a place- sigh!). It felt very strange but lovely to see lots of little tots wobbling around playing with paints and blocks! They can just go from one activity area to another as they want to. The nursery only feeds the children vegetarian food as they prepare it all there and it's easier with so many dietary restrictions, no cake or sugar allowed even on birthdays and they grow some of their food in the garden which is always open for the children to play in. It sounds amazing but not what I was expecting at all!

mrsmugoo · 08/02/2016 13:04

Been in for my VBAC appointment today - all v straightforward. I'm happy they have the portable monitoring there, I'm ok with continuous monitoring as long as I can be mobile. Not so happy about having a canular in the whole time - might see if I can negotiate on that!

Now just a waiting game to see if she's head down!!

Eastend2015 · 08/02/2016 13:24

Arghh just need a rant! Rang my mum to tell her about the nursery hoping to make her smile and have a nice bonding chat about babies and instead got told she thinks it is very sad that the baby will be in childcare from 6 months full time and I should think about taking 5 years out of my career?! It makes me mad that our thoughts and views on the matter are not respected. I will only just have started a new job when I go on mat leave so don't want to be off for too long, I am the main breadwinner and my DH has also just started his career properly and is in a new job too. At least we can both work flexibly and do relatively short hours so can manage care of the baby equally. Why is that worse than my childhood where she didn't have a proper job until much later but I hardly saw my dad because he was working all the time?!

CheersMrSunfresh · 08/02/2016 13:28

mrsmugoo you sound very similar to me. I had a VBAC with ds2 but the hospital's three portable monitors were being used. I was coping well with contractions whilst I could move and bounce, as soon as I was strapped to the bed for baby to have the continuous monitoring I lost control. Apparently the hospital I'll deliver in now have seven portable monitors, if I could guarantee getting one I think that would be a huge positive for labour. Fingers crossed for a head down baby for you!

Good luck today belle and nehagarg and anyone else with scans or appointments.

Agree with loving white babygros, we've got lots from both our boys, need to get them down from the loft and start sorting through them Smile

Emma, love a bargain, sounds like a brilliant deal.

GrubbyWindows · 08/02/2016 13:32

Ouf Eastend that's such a pain!!!! I think it can be quite hard for our mums when we make very different decisions to them- as we are basically saying we think they did it wrong!
I only twigged that quite recently though...
(PS going back full time at 6 months can be hard!! Your mum needs to be supporting you!!)
