Ha ha laPh I'm pretty rotund already too- maybe our gravitational fields will set up an orbit!
I'm at Kings, but might have a home birth- I'm lucky enough to be on the books of a caseload midwifery practice so I can literally make my mind up in labour. Last time I was in already with preeclampsia, but my midwives came to do the induction in hospital and were super amazing. How about you?

AmIseeingRight · 22/01/2016 08:34

congrats on all the scans - just catching up on last week - wow loads of post but since i cant sleep its been good reading all the good news.

emma i,m 21+3 with 1st baby and flutters have only just started in the last 2 days, very low, mainly on the right but little man doesn't seem very chilled & hard a difficult time getting him to move during 20wk scan. He just likes sleeping on his tummy Hmm.

OH is responsible for pram/carseat purchase and he not in a rush while i've been slowly shopping away at the sales Blush from baby clothes to nursery stuff, I want to start doing his room in a few week and have everything ready by 32 wks as i figure it will be hard to get much done in the last few weeks. youtube is full of ideas lol. Anyone else starts on nursery shopping/decorating?

AmIseeingRight · 22/01/2016 08:37

"does seem very chilled & had a difficult" - too early to type any proper sentence - miss my caffeine Brew just over 4 months to go lol

17caterpillars1mouse · 22/01/2016 09:05

Finally told work i'm pregnant. They were shocked as I've hidden my bump well, but was getting to the stage where I've been really struggling with some of my work tasks (its a physical job) and they've immediately put me on lighter, easier work so all good :)

Started the baby clothes shopping and tried to buy our silver cross pioneer in the mothercare sale but they had run out of the colour we want. Going to watch for other sales. Haven't started nursery but the room has two pink walls and we don't really want to repaint as it was expensive paint and not done that long ago (currently our study), we're team yellow so need to come up with ideas to make it gender neutral. Any ideas?

bikingintherain · 22/01/2016 09:13

We were hoping to move house before the baby, and I would quite like to get a 'fixer upper' so no our nursery is no way near ready! We're in the process of selling our UK house which should hopefully complete soonish, and then start house hunting here.

I'm not sure we're going to have moved house by the time the baby is born so there might be 5 of us squeezing into a two bed flat. That is most definitely not sounding like a wonderful plan.

nehagarg · 22/01/2016 09:22

Havent bought anything yet and done nothing except measure the nursery to see how big a cot we can fit in (going to keep the double bed in there so DH or I can sleep in with the baby instead of him with us). I should start soon but DH wants to wait for Easter sales.

I think I may have felt the baby move last night when I was sitting down reading a book, it happened several times low down on the right in the same spot, but I was also a bit bloated so it could have been gas Blush do they feel quite similar? Excited to see if it happens again!

I know some ladies were talking about maternity sportswear a while ago but I can't find it, can anyone recommend somewhere to me? My 3/4 length leggingd are getting rather tight!!

nehagarg · 22/01/2016 10:37

Rose they do feel quite similar. I still keep confusing anything but the strongest pokes as gas. But you'll feel them more and more and eventually realise you cant be that gassy. Grin

Got an extremely strong kick the other day when the pilot announced our landing time in super high volume. I think bubs was asleep and woke up in a fright at the loud noise.

Has anyone else started thinking about decorating babies room yet? We've swapped the big two round into their new rooms and I'm now doing the mural in DSs new room ready to move him so I can do babies. I've pretty much got it all planned but just lacking time.

LaPharisienne · 22/01/2016 12:00

GrubbyWindows I'm in Lewisham and it's my first so hedging my bets and intending to go to the birth centre but pretty laid back about it tbh. Quite tempted to take all the drugs and trip happily through the whole thing!

Rose2806 I started a maternity sportswear thread - I ordered leggings from Seraphine which are pretty thin and I can't really see that they differ from normal footless tights, but which I've kept for yoga etc. (they slip down a lot). I also ordered the FittaMamma leggings which are thick as, good quality and seem to stay up whatever you're up to. Strongly recommended. Think I have a discount code if you want to pm me?

LaPharisienne · 22/01/2016 12:00

Oh and BiffleRoo our flat is so tiny "decorating the baby's room" would consist of an afternoon craftily slopping poster paint onto a cardboard box.

1Sunnydays · 22/01/2016 13:47

Hi everyone. This is only my second post so I hope I'm doing it right! First DC due 06/06. 20 week scan yesterday and all was well SmileWe had a private scan the week before to find out gender (NHS don't tell you here) and we're having a girl.

laughingGnomette · 22/01/2016 14:03

Biffle Angry I'm still trying to get DP to agree to moving his office out of our third bedroom. He doesn't seem to realise that even though the baby will be in with us for the first six or so months, we'll need somewhere to put its clothes, bedding, changing things etc. (it's a tiny room)

Congratulations Sunnydays!

Violet88 · 22/01/2016 16:38

I have reached my 20 week milestone today!! Yay!! Got my 20 week scan on Monday so a bit nervous for that, luckily I'm working tomorrow, so only got Sunday to dwell on it!! We already know he's a boy though as we had a private scan a few weeks back.

Laughing I've got DH to agree to move his stuff out of the third bedroom, and he has made a bit of a start, but theres still quite a lot of stuff he has yet to move. The second biggest bedroom is already his office room to contain his multitude of possessions so he's not taking up our babies space as well!!!

Violet88 · 22/01/2016 16:42

In terms of where to have the baby, I can choose between home but it's my first so maybe I will be advised not to , a midwife led unit for the straightforward pregnancies and main delivery suite, where you can have an epidural if wanted, but it says that's for the more higher risk ladies. So as long as no problems arrise to make me high risk I guess I should choose the midwife led unit, although I would probably prefer a home birth for subsequent pregnancies.

GrubbyWindows · 22/01/2016 20:08

Violet we are due date AND scan date buddies!! I'm 20 weeks today, and scan on Monday too.
If you want a home birth you should push to have one (ho ho), there is no extra risk compared to being in hospital, even for first timers. For second time onwards it is actually slightly safer to be at home. If they get worried they will have you in an ambulance and on your way, so unless you live very far from the nearest hospital you will be safe as houses. And obvs if you develop risk factors in the later months that's a different story anyway.

BabySocks · 22/01/2016 21:16

Hello all, I have been missing but nice to catch up, so exciting with all the scans , we had our 20 week last week but are staying team yellow :)
Am sat feeling baby thudding away, it is such a pleasure as I had an anterior placenta last time and didn't feel anything until 24 weeks. I need to enjoy it as my placenta is covering the cervix at the moment so a c-section is looking likely at the moment - will be scanned at 28 weeks so am teeing to keep an open mind Chocolate
Do I message jelly about the Facebook group? Thank you

Belvedere · 22/01/2016 21:39

Yes it's jelly, baby I messaged her earlier :)

Belvedere · 22/01/2016 21:39

Yes it's jelly, babysocks I messaged her earlier :)

MollieRos · 22/01/2016 22:18

Congratulations on more lovely scans!

babysocks I've been enjoying mine thudding away loads over the last week too- pretty distracting during the day when I'm concentrating on other things, but seems like every time I sit down and stop moving about he's doing somersaults/practising his karate kicks in there, which is lovely Smile It's a bit strange though because I have an anterior placenta so I wasn't expecting to be able to feel so much. Not complaining though!

We're just in the middle of having our bedroom converted into two rooms so there'll be space for the baby when he eventually goes into his own room. It's created a double for us and teeny tiny little room (literally big enough for a cot and a chest of drawers with a changing mat on top) for the baby so I really hope it's big enough!

Potkettleblack2 · 22/01/2016 22:53

Babysocks I've the same issue with my placenta-and there is another poster too with it. I've done some research and apparently up to 15% of women have some form of placenta pravia (spelling?) at 20 weeks. But of those, about 90% will right themselves. So I am very much hoping that we're all in that 90. My re-scan is at 32 weeks

emma85x · 23/01/2016 07:18

Does anyone know if paracetamol ibuprofen are safe? I have a horrible sore throat.

Mrspopper · 23/01/2016 07:20

Paracetamol is completely safe in pregnancy. I had to take regularly for awful headaches.
Lemon and honey also nice and soothing for your throat. Hope you feel better soon.

BabySocks · 23/01/2016 08:12

Thanks potkettle I am just keeping my fingers crossed things move. .. and if it doesn't there is nothing I can do about it anyway! Nice to know i am not alone :) Hope you all have a fun Saturday, off to a 3 year old party in a bit although they promised bacon sandwiches which should improve matters :)

JellyBaby26 · 23/01/2016 08:43

Violet they encourage people to have home births even if it is your first.
I got the pool etc had it all ready but thankfully we went into hospital.
Would love to try it again but I wouldn't be allowed now.
The thought of it at home is lovely though and you can always change your mind at the 11th hour if you have planned to birth at home !
