Hi all, sorry haven't posted for a while, been really knackered and very headachey. Since it's Friday I thought I would finally spend some time catching up on all your news and say hello Smile. Congrats to all who've had recent scans and happy news! Scase I am so happy to hear you have managed to improve things at work regarding shifts, etc. That did not sound good, or legal. Well done.

So much for second trimester bloom here, got about ten days of energy before flagging again. Trying to avoid screens where possible to try and help headaches and sleep, but not sure anything is helping, am drinking lots of water so it's probably hormones.

I also have what I think is pregnancy rhinitis - my nose and throat are so allergic! Different from a cold, it comes on mainly in the evenings and briefly first thing in the morning. I sneeze loads and my eyes and nose run. The worst is the scratchy throat and soft palate, it drives me crazy.

Had 16 week midwife appoint last week (at 17 weeks), and for me it was much better than the booking in. Much nicer midwife, friendly and chatty, really put me at ease. Took about 35 mins. She found the heartbeat with the Doppler, I was so chuffed! Didn't think to record it for DH unfortunately. She said the midwives don't all routinely offer it, but that she always did, and I should always feel free to ask for it if I want. She thinks I may have an anterior placenta (I think because she could hear a strong secondary heartbeat at the front where she was listening).

Anterior placenta or not, I still haven't felt the baby move yet, but it is my first so not too unusual I suppose.

Scan is 2 weeks today, am hoping I will start to feel less anxious then if all goes well, and more motivated to start buying stuff - need to make some room in the flat first though! 20 weeks left doesn't sound very much, does it? Especially since I could be fit for nothing by the last 10, judging by some of the more pregnant women I have encountered at my yoga classes.

Finding that pregnancy yoga and pregnancy Pilates are really helping with aches and stiffness as well as relaxation. Can definitely recommend. I am definitely starting to show now, am starting to wear some maternity clothes as well as those of my own that will still fit.

Have a lovely weekend everyone. We are heading to London tomorrow for a 40th birthday party, staying overnight. Really cannot be bothered choosing outfits and packing a bag!

Also - I've just updated my entry on the stats list, as my due date changed from 7th to 6th July at scan last month and I never got around to changing it! Only one day, and it didn't even affect my place on the list. AND it's only an estimate. But still feels better to have changed it Wink

Gnatt I'm still getting headaches, I think you're right about the hormones.

Hopesandreams good luck for today! As you can tell I can't sleep either! Going to try keep busy this morning.

Eugh ridiculously thirsty again this morning!

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 06/02/2016 08:01

Hopes good luck at the scan today. Exciting.

Gnat I still get headaches too. I find I have to drink loads to prevent them.

I think baby must be in a funny position. My lower right side feels really tender. It pulls if I cough of sneeze and feels like there is pressure there. Hoping baby moves soon.

minieggaddict · 06/02/2016 08:31

I had a dream this morning that I gave birth to a human baby size elephant Confused made me realise I might be worrying about the birth part lol!

Gnat - I keep getting a blocked/runny nose it's driving me nuts. Also get headaches and I see an osteopath who really helped last time (and so far so good this time too).

I also woke up on my back with really bad back ache and I felt quite ill so think lying on my back isn't such a good idea now.

HopesAndDreams15 · 06/02/2016 08:34

Thanks ladies.

I've been up since 6 Mascara, what time is your scan? Good luck!

Gnat, sorry you're feeling rubbish. Hope you feel better soon.

primarynoodle · 06/02/2016 09:18

Im glad its not just me! Im also:

  • suddenly waking up on my back (never done this before)
  • having headaches
  • constant stuffy nose (but not snotty)
  • having the most bizarre dreams (mainly about dp being horrible/feckless Confused)

Still waiting for my doppler... think itll be monday now Sad
Lovely scan pictures everyone :)

Beautician I've been having the same feeling - occasionally in different places but mostly on the right. I asked the midwife about it when I saw her yesterday and she said it's the ligaments stretching as your uterus grows (which tallies with some internet-based research I'd done). It's completely normal and a good sign. It doesn't signify where/how the baby is lying.

The midwife also told me that, at this stage, it's good to start talking to the baby, playing it music and pressing your tummy to interact with it. So I'm desperately prodding and poking (gently!) in the hope of feeling it move, but no luck yet! (Just making me need the loo!)

I'm feeling much more positive and less exhausted today than the last couple of weekends when I've been a bit of a wreck. (It directly related to work - there are "problems" in my team which has resulted in long hours and added stress for me and others, but I think I've made good progress in resolving some of those problems this week so am feeling much more positive now.) Am looking forward to pregnancy yoga and some relaxation this weekend Smile Definitely time to start focusing on the pregnant lady!

Scase well done for standing up for yourself and your legal entitlements. Don't be afraid to do the same again (or raise the issue higher up the management chain) if your manager starts slipping back into bad habits. Hopefully not though, now that you've stood up for yourself.

Sympathies to those here who are still having a tough time.

And congrats to those who've had lovely scan photos and had exciting news re gender!

Happy Saturday! Weather here is awful. Got a toddler birthday party this afternoon to look forward to... Confused hope you're all having nice days.

Congrats on all the scans and good luck to all those having then this weekend. Very exciting! You'll have to buy a little something after for baby to celebrate.

Mascara I'm really thirsty at the moment too. Can't stop drinking water! Don't want anything else which I guess is good.

After being happy I hadn't gained any weight I've just jumped on and put a lb. Damn. This is the start of a slippery slope WinkLast time I was soooo hungry and put on 3.5 stone!!! Trying not to do that this time round but I can't help it when I'm hungry! I just can't stop!!! The good news is for anyone worrying I lost most of that within five months of giving birth.

I'm a bit rubbish on mumsnet could someone kindly tell me where the stats are?

mascaraisamust · 06/02/2016 09:38

Hopesandreams, midday. You?

Anna I only want water too, squash tastes eugh! Fizzy is hard to drink and everything tastes sooo sweet.

Already had a blueberry muffin, want scrambled eggs on toast with mushrooms Confused

AnnaT45 · 06/02/2016 09:56

Mascara I think we are pregnancy soul mates... Currently eating scrambled eggs Grin

HopesAndDreams15 · 06/02/2016 10:26

I'm 12.30 Mascara :)

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 06/02/2016 10:28

Those that have a Doppler from Amazon which one would you recommend. I want to see the heart rate too Smile

minieggaddict · 06/02/2016 10:39

Beautician, dh got the angel sounds one for me which doesn't show the heart rate but was a good price.

mascaraisamust · 06/02/2016 11:00

Ah Anna! I haven't managed to have mine yet Sad having no eggs in the house and having to go out in the rain is putting me off!

Ellizardo · 06/02/2016 17:18

Anna - one lb?! Jeez that's nothing, I am wel jel. I had such a shock around Christmas when was weighed for all the Harmony stuff that I have, like a fairytale witch, banned all scales within the vicinity.

I am determined that this time next year I will get properly fit and have already downloaded the Couch to 5k app in preparation (she says, lying on the sofa). PLus I did the 5:2 before Ted and lost 1.5 stone so feel it's all possible (after breastfeeding that is!).

Mascara et al - how did the scans go?!
We got a £5 M&S voucher after sending some of Ted's clothes to Oxfam as part of Schwop and so tootled off to our local M&S to buy stuff only for me to lose the voucher at the checkout. DH's face was, erm, not really a picture.

HopesAndDreams15 · 06/02/2016 17:40

All looking good at our gender scan and delighted to find out we're team blue!

How did you get on Mascara?

Congratulations hopes how did your dcs react to the exciting news Smile

mascaraisamust · 06/02/2016 18:09

Ahh congrats!! Also team blue hopes Grin everything looked good too. Loved seeing 'him' again! I knew it was a boy!! My love of cheese had me convinced!

Pinseyboo38 · 06/02/2016 18:15

Lovely scan pic hope.
I feel like a right heffer here, I'm 10 weeks tomorrow and exactly one stone heavier 😓. I blame the bread, I hardly ate it before and now I'm eating it twice a day but only a particular one from tescos lol. I really hope it slows down otherwise I dread to think my end result. Don't think I'll be able to breastfeed as I had a breast reduction 15 years ago but midwife thinks I should still give it a go.
Hope everyone's enjoying their weekend xx

Pinseyboo38 · 06/02/2016 18:16

Not 10 weeks 19 weeks lol X

Beaut the dc's are really pleased and very excited!

Congrats Mascara, great news!!
