In the end I got jeans from Red herring in debenhams. I couldn't get the H&M ones over my thighs!!! I got a few tops in H&M and some in the sale in jojo and some tights in mothercare. I begrudge buying too much as I'll only be wearing in for a couple of months!

Jem01 · 03/02/2016 14:30

Hello ladies! It's been a while since I was on here. Will catch up with everyone's posts later. Hope everyone is well and 2nd trimester is a bit more relaxing/less feeling sick/more exciting?! Can't believe we're heading to 20 week scans! As I sit here at my desk I can feel baby moving!! Feels a bit like a spasm or actually a twitch you'd get in your eye...weird but absolutely loving it Smile

The next time Im put on a break too early I will voice my opinion! I am eligible for another break, but I feel like I cannot take it because we get sooo busy and Im leaving them with a person down so I feel bad.. I did sit down yesterday but I got ridiculed for it, I was called lazy and a manager said "if you're like this now, imagine further on" it made me so angry, she was the one who put me on a break too early and expected me to be okay for the rest of my shift. I have never been pregnant before so this is all new to me, new weight being added which I am not used too so its really straining my legs, I have bad knees as it is and its making them worse :/ you would think them being a big company they would treat their staff better .. -.- thanks for all the advice ladies :) much appreciated

Cheery1 · 03/02/2016 16:41

scase - that manager sounds really out of order and it's so unprofessional/illegal that you're being called lazy!! Can you go above manager's head? I'd be tempted to contact your Citizen's Advice Bureau so yo've armed with all the legal facts about breaks at work and what your rights are as a pregnant lady in the workplace. I reckon big company like Maccie D's would want to look after you, it would look really bad on them if you're not getting appropriate breaks and not getting any support from your managers. Anyway, sure you'll work it out. x

Cheery1 · 03/02/2016 16:52

Hey mini - glad all good with you Smile - not long til your scan! I've got 20 sleeps til mine, seems so far away!!!!

Beautician - that's rubbish of your employer too! It's so hard when you're self employed and you need the work, but agree with cookies - can you talk to her?

Bluebell and becks - gap do some lovely pants, very comfy, shorty style, fit nicely just under bump and no vpl. They seem to be doing me fine through pregnancy so far in my usual size (and my bottom is definitely expanding with my belly, must be to balance it all out Confused)

Pulpi and cookies - hope you manage to shift those colds soon - the two I've had seemed to linger around, maybe because you can't take anything for them!

I'm sticking to Topshop jeans, love them! I've got Baxter under bump in my usual size 10 and then Joni over bump in size 12 (bit of expansion room seemed like a plan) Also finding loads of great (v cheap) options on Ebay, got some New look boyfriend jeans for £3!

So lovely that some of you are getting movement - I'm steeling myself for a wait because of where my placenta is and it being my first. Can't wait to feel something though!

Cheery1 · 03/02/2016 16:55

Culture and Cookies - just read you'd already given same advice to scase - apologies for repeating myself! Scase - defo go above the unpleasant manager. Good luck x

mascaraisamust · 03/02/2016 18:23

I so want to feel something Sad trying to go to bed early so I can lay still to see if I can feel baby but I can't. Since that one time popping sensation nothing. I doubt I'd notice in the day I'm so busy. Maybe next week is might be more prominent...

Sorry some of you are having rubbish times with work.

I've just been really lazy and had fish and chips, I'm so tired! Followed by a crunchie for dessert Grin

AnnaT45 · 03/02/2016 18:37

I want fish and chips!!!! I'm having chicken salad. May do sweet pot wedges to jazz it up. Crazy night here! Trying to be good. Not gained anything yet and trying to keep it that way as I had half a stone extra I wanted to shift when I fell pregnant. What's everyone else having? I love talking about food.

My first movement I think I was well past 20 weeks with my first. I remember worrying but the midwife told me everyone is different. Depends on placenta position, how strong your stomach muscles are etc. Try not to stress. I promise when it starts there will be times you want it to stop like 3 a.m Grin

Scase and beautician I'm so upset got you both. Please can you try get it sorted. Being pregnant is not lazy! You're at work you just need a break to eat and have a rest. X

Woodsy81 · 03/02/2016 18:38

Hi All
Hope everyone is ok. Scase & Beautician, sounds like you are both having a hard time. I hope your managers see sense. I am especially shocked at a large company acting in such a way re.breaks. Not that, that excuses the way you are being treated Beautician. Its really very unfair. Thanks

Been feeling great recently. Tiredness has lifted as has the sinus problem at night and I am sleeping through the night again (I will enjoy the sleeping while it lasts). Also been feeling baby move most days. Seems to be at night when I go to bed that I'll get all these little bubbles in my lower tummy. Its just so amazing to feel and makes me feel so so happy. SmileSmileSmile
19 weeks today.

mascaraisamust · 03/02/2016 18:43

Anna well done! I've only gained 2 pounds, I'm not sure how as it eaten loads and my belly is sticking out (I think my scales must be wrong) Confused I had soup for lunch though!

AnnaT45 · 03/02/2016 20:13

Oh that's good too mascara! I had my healthy dinner then caved and had some vanilla ice cream! Whoops!

mascaraisamust · 03/02/2016 20:28

DH had a Chinese instead as he got home later than me and it was so hard to not have any! I've stayed away from Chinese so far as I know that once I start I won't stop!

You deserve that vanilla ice cream, you've got to make up the extra calories somehow!

Ellizardo · 04/02/2016 08:24

Morning all - still no news on the glucose test so am treating this as 'no news is good news' ... i have to say our Friday night food discussions will become a lot less pleasant if I do have diabetes!

Off to preg pilates today after yoga on Tuesday, feel very virtuous!

Hope everyone has good days.

Cheery1 · 04/02/2016 09:03

Fingers crossed Elizardo, I can only imagine how hard pregnancy is without cake!!!

Vickie360 · 04/02/2016 10:54

Hi everyone just had my 16 wk app the mw wouldn't check for the heartbeat and she doesn't need to see me again till 28 wks! Does anyone else have to wait that long? But because my dd was a bit smaller then she should have been I get to extra scans which is good.
Beautician and scase I hope you get work sorted you really don't need the extra stress right now

Bluebell20 · 04/02/2016 10:58

Crikey you lot, I've gone from about 8 stone 4 or 5lbs in my gym kit (the only place I ever weigh myself) to about 8 stone 12 lbs!!! Eek!

I went to try maternity bras yesterday (figured if I was going to buy a new bra, I'd better make sure it would do me for nursing as well), and OH LORD they were so frumpy. Stood in Marks & Sparks fitting room feeling about as unattractive as I ever have. Sod that, I thought. So I'm now on a mission for pretty bras. Recommendations, anyone?!

Thanks for the knickers recommendation Cheery. I shall be visitating Gap on my next in-the-city lunchbreak!

Scase, it sounds like you are being shamed into not taking the breaks you are entitled to, which is absolutely shocking. Firstly, TAKE THE BREAKS. And sod everyone else, it's your right. Secondly, as Culture said, make a note of the times you are allocated breaks, and also the comments you receive from other colleagues, especially your manager.

Beautician, any chance you can speak to the owner about the timings - she may not understand about the extra time needed for changing etc - and make sure she schedules you in a lunchbreak? It sounds truly ridiculous.

Baby was quiet all day yesterday, and then this morning (lying in bed after waking up) I managed to get DH to feel it moving, which was loooovely for him. Although at first I thought it was him messing about and poking me with his finger! It's a lot harder to distinguish the movement when someone else's hand is on your bump!

Hey all sorry not posted for a long time !
Iv been following still though and checking up on u all !

I feel so bad for all that have been having to power in with work over the past few months ! I have bn so tired and don't think I could have done it ! X
Ellizardo- fx is good news on the diabetes front for u !
My sister has type one diabetes and I have to get tests done aswell to check for that X

Vicky - that doesn't seem fair u didn't get to hear babies heartbeat at ur 16 wk app ...
I have mine tomorrow and am pretty nervous that they don't check or can't hear anything , think I might go buy a Doppler today and try find it myself !
Iv been stressing out a bit because i suddenly feel amazing , no symptoms at all but also can't feel movement yet so think I need one for peice of mind X

So happy for all those feeling movement ! Must b wonderful ! Can't wait for those first flutters ! X

YouAndMeAreGoingToFallOut · 04/02/2016 12:08

My midwife didn't listen for a heartbeat at the 16 week appointment either. I'm seeing her again at 22 weeks, but I think they do see you less often with second babies. I've been "lucky" as I've been having weekly scans for my cervix so have had lots of opportunity for reassurance that the baby is OK.

Cookiesandcoffee · 04/02/2016 12:36

vickie and youandme in my area we see a midwife at 15 weeks and then 24. Even that Seemed ages even for a 2nd/3rd timer if you ask me.
bluebell I'm very lucky my scales are broken. I dread to think what I have gained. I'm reckoning on nearer a stone here so don't worry. Last few weeks I just want to eat Blush I thought the same about the bras. Last time I tried to hold out as long as possible because they looked so unattractive. Have you tried the M&S website? I always think the better ones are online
elliz I always think no news is good news with these things. Fingers crossed. Keep eating the Haribo... Your halo is shining from all the exercise! Smile

felinewonderful · 04/02/2016 12:45

Vicky, I had my midwife appointment Tuesday (17 weeks) and she said they don't check for heartbeat anymore at this stage as it causes much anxiety if they can't find it! I don't have my next appointment until 28 weeks too. It seems ages away!

Vikkijayne2507 · 04/02/2016 13:27

Falling behind a bit, when i heard heartbeat at 16 weeks it did take quite awhile to find the heartbeat, but im in portugal and i see dr every month for general check up, baby was still quite low but i can understand why they dont always do the hb as i was starting to worry a bit he was just a bit low tho

17 + 5

Gx91 · 04/02/2016 13:50

I had no idea some had stopped checking heartbeat , I get it causes anxiety but still would b nice to hear X
As for all those who have jumped on the scales I had guessed that I'd mibi put on a stone and was surprised to see i was only 2lbs heavier ! Weird as def looks a lot more ! Just been eating anything that takes my fancy ! Lol
I would worry too much about weight gain we r all going to b huge in a few months anyway Grin I say worry about that post baby lol X
Shame it's such a wait in between appointments with 2 nd 3rd 4 th children , I remember being seen a lot first time round

Seems a lot of u guys r close to ur 20 wk scans ! Can't wait to see more pics x

Cheery1 · 04/02/2016 14:11

Gosh bluebell don't worry! I've put on about 3-4kg Blush which is quite a lot on a 5 foot lady. Cookies - wish the scales were broken on my hospital visits! Midwife didn't seem to think it was too much so I'm not worried, just trying to eat well - I include cake in this Smile

Again I think Gap do less awful maternity bras - I went to get measured at John Lewis, which was a bit of a shock, and the maternity bras were soooo ugly but at least I know what size I am.

Sorry that you didn't get to hear the heartbeat Vicky and Feline. I did have to ask at my 16 wk, I think I was lucky. Midwife did warn me that it's often tricky to find so early so they don't routinely do it.

Hi G - glad all ok with Smile

Vickie360 · 04/02/2016 15:35

That's good to know at least I'm not the only 1 I should be having my glucose test at 26 wks so I'll see what happens after that

YouAndMeAreGoingToFallOut · 04/02/2016 16:49

Another cervical scan today - all good and cervix is 3.1cm which I think is now into the normal range. Had a bit of a run in with the arsey on call obstetrician, who was really patronising and was all "why are you coming for weekly scan? That's really unecessary". Umm...because the consultant ordered them?

In any case I am booked for an appointment with the consultant next Friday to discuss what happens from here. I think I will probably be signed off as everything is looking good. I've got another month worth of progesterone pessaries, so I guess I will carry on with them. I don't think even if things did deteriorate from here (and fingers crossed they won't!) that a stitch would be an option now.

Got my 20 week scan on Tuesday - can't believe it already! I've had four scans already since 12 weeks, but obviously they haven't checked baby for anomalies so will be a relief to hopefully get that out of the way OK. We aren't going to find out the sex, but I have convinced myself it's a boy. No idea why!
