Welcome primary, sounds like you've had a tough road. I hope it all goes smoothly for you now.

Ah congrats bird! Sounds like call the midwife where you live. Grin

I thought I felt movement last night but I'm sure it was wind! With my first I think I was around 21/22 weeks before I felt a definite movement then she didn't stop! so I think it's way too early!

I'm off to Oxford st topshop to get some jeans today... Finally decided at 14 weeks I need to get some mat jeans. My last pairs are way too big which is a win! DH is having DD for the day so meeting my good friends for lunch. Can't wait! Hope you all have great Saturdays!

redstrawberries101 · 30/01/2016 11:29

Thanks for all the lovely words girls. I'm feeling much more optimistic about next time and beginning to accept that it wasn't the right time for whatever reason. It just wasn't meant to be x I'll pop in if I get any good news during the life of this thread! Xx

Bluebell20 · 30/01/2016 11:44

Thanks Culture, Fuzzy and Elli for the breastfeeding reassurance.

Beautician, I am quite astounded that you don't have more say over the groupon situation - how awful for you. I would be really cheesed off if I were you.

Wanting and bird, congratulations on your little girls!

Youandme, I am doing a victory dance for your magical cervix. Hooray!

Mel, delighted that you are feeling a bit better. Cake

primarynoodle, welcome, and I'm so glad everything is finally going well for you!

I saw a bunch of friends last night, including a friend of mine who is 13 weeks pregnant with her second child. She's a similar size to me non-pregnant, but holy heck, she has a significantly bigger bump at just 13 weeks than I do at 18 + 4! It was quite a surprise to me. It's nuts how quickly the bump takes shape on second and subsequent pregnancies!

Comedy moment from one of my children in school yesterday:

Child: Is your baby a boy or a girl?
Me: I will tell you in a couple of weeks after I've had my scan.
Child: Oh! I thought it had come out already.

If only, small child, if only...

AprilShowers16 · 30/01/2016 12:12

Hello, sorry I haven't posted much. Congratulations wanting and bird on little girls! How exciting. I can't wait to find out the sex but have to wait until March for 20 week scan :( Last night DH said he was really excited about finding out the sex and didn't mind whether it was a boy or a girl which is a bit of a relief because he'd been quite stubborn up until now about wanting it to be a boy - although I think he was mostly doing that to wind me up.

I'm 14+5 and struggling a little bit this week after feeling great last week. Just feeling like everything getting on top of me (housework, work, finances, life stuff in general) and feeling really unattractive which isn't helping but no energy to tackle any of these things. Anyone feeling similar?

primarynoodle · 30/01/2016 12:54

bird what a lovely photo!

bluebell i am also a teacher - how did you tell the kids? Think im just going to wait til they cotton on in (hopefully) a couple of months! So far only the head and office manager know but my stomach is starting to prove difficult to hide!

april i feel the same - i think its a clever lie that the second trimester is lovely so that we make it through the first trimester without commiting stress related murder!

For those who are wanting to find out the sex, i could have done yesterday with the amnio results but we've decided not to find out this time! (So hopefully sonographer wont give it away at the scan!). Ill post a photo of my 16 weeker though - i think its a boy anyway but my friend thinks it looks more like her daughters scan

noodle yes I think you're right, lots of people I've spoken to said they didn't start to feel better until 16 weeks so maybe will get better then. Have basically spent the day in bed feeling like a useless lump :(

Cookiesandcoffee · 30/01/2016 18:56

Congratulations on your girl bird!!
Welcome primary and lovely scan picture. My vote is that it looks like a blue one haha.
scase my Doppler came today and OMG it's amazing. Found the heart beat ok and 150. So nice as DH couldn't make the appointment.
elliz when will you find out your results? Have been wishing you luck but no time to post today.
anna hope you managed to find some good jeans and Oxford St wasn't too manic. I have the Topshop Joni over-the-bump ones and I'm liking them so far. What ones did you go for? Open to some recommendations as I feel ill need another pair at some point.
Definite movements today I'm sure, and they co-insided with movements on the Doppler Smile

Scase1firsttimemum · 30/01/2016 20:25

Ahh Cookies Im jealous!! Just want mine to arrive already! My OH couldnt make it but hes heard the heart beat using his sisters doppler, however it was so much louder and clearer at midwife so hopefully this one does the same and he can properly hear it Smile

AnnaT45 · 30/01/2016 21:21

Cookies I got Joni under the bump as I worried I'll get too hot with over or do you not? I hear gap is good apparently too. I've got a few hen dos coming up and got a nice smart crepe top in there for £16 bargain! Just need dresses for the weddings but will cross that bridge when forced!

Topshop was strangely quiet! Was lovely. Went and had a lovely Indian after. I couldn't stop eating the chicken curry. Really want more of it now... Going to have to make one this week to binge on!

My DD is better today and she was only awake an hour last night so I'm hoping for the same tonight! I really hope the next one is a sleeper! Hope you've all had lovely evenings.

Scase1firsttimemum · 30/01/2016 22:00

Anna- i have over the bump maternity trousers, they are so comfortable :) but I guess its down to preference Smile

birchybaby2 · 30/01/2016 22:02

Hiya. We've been looking for baby things and wondering what other are doing for sleeping - Moses basket? Crib? Etc. Sure you where discussing them weeks ago!! I like the look of the chicco next to u but wondering if worth the expense. Just had a Moses basket last time then moved her to cot bed when bigger. Have to confess the cot bed was in our room till bout 7-8 months as could bear her in her own room and was feeding constantly.
Lovely to hear how everyone's getting on. Xx

Ellizardo · 30/01/2016 22:46

Birchy - we inherited a massive heirloom Moses basket which we used with a Sleepyhead inside for first five months at foot of our bed then cot bed next door. Worked v well for us. I think those chicco things supposed to be v convenient and reassuring...

Anna - gap are good but online only, sounds like a good trip (empty top shop on a sat in central London?!)..and I'm now craving curry (even from bed!)

Cookies - should get results by Wed, thanks for thinking of me. More tangfastics were consumed tonight!

allthegoodnamesalreadytaken · 31/01/2016 07:06

birch we're thinking of getting the snuzpod. We wanted to get a chicco next 2 me but because we have a Super King sized bed the straps won't work on it (gutted!). I saw a nice swinging crib in mothercare recently as well that was small enough for bedside. We're waiting until we go to the baby show to "try everything out" then will make a decision after that

allthegoodnamesalreadytaken · 31/01/2016 07:08

After 6 months we plan to switch to this cot bed (pic attached) that we picked up in the mothercare January sales

mascaraisamust · 31/01/2016 07:10

Aldi have got their baby weekend so we picked up a Moses basket for £20! Think it's a kinder one. Suitable from birth and with matress. We got the stand for £20 too. Our plan is to use this one for downstairs and when we go away for the first few months (we do quite a bit of travelling). Upstairs in our bedroom I'm thinking a snuzpod as it will last longer than a Moses basket. Was intending to just take the top part of the snuzpod downstairs but it's way too heavy! This should last until their 6 months too. Resale value is good too. Also got some cellular blankets (2.80 each). Asda have got some great stuff too at the moment. Bargains!

mascaraisamust · 31/01/2016 07:13

Allthegoodnames, we are also ordering the cot bed (in white) from mothercare with the 20% off deal. The cot bed should last until their at least three! It's huge!

birchybaby2 · 31/01/2016 07:37

Cot beds are great. My daughter used hers till she was 5!! Planning on reusing hers with a new mattress for bump. So it is only Moses basket/cot we need. Loved grobags too so will be using them too once baby big enough. Xx

allthegoodnamesalreadytaken · 31/01/2016 07:55

mascara I loved the white as well. Had a tough time choosing. Planning to assemble it next week once wallpaper is up in the nursery. Thanks for the aldi tip I didn't even realise they did baby stuff. The Tommy Tippee bottles on there are a bargain so might pick some up today.

primarynoodle · 31/01/2016 09:23

Is anybody else getting a pressure type pain around their mid stomach/belly button? Feel like my belly is going to burst open!!! It was worse at the end of the day but now its happening in the morning too..

Thinking its growing pains? God knows!

Bluebell20 · 31/01/2016 11:15

primary I asked the Head to announced it on the school bulletin when I was 17 weeks. I was quite conscious that I was starting to show, and also all of my colleagues already knew, including the dinner ladies - and one of the dinner ladies is also the mum of a boy in my class! I didn't want it become playground gossip.

So, bulletin came out, the parents read the bulletin and told their kids (I teach Year One), many of whom came into school the next day asking me about it. So I sat them all down on the carpet and we had a chat about babies and the fact that I am having one, and that was that!

It's totally personal preference, though. The Head would have been happy for me to keep it quiet for much longer if I had wanted to.

AnnaT45 · 31/01/2016 11:23

Ha ha Elizardo. I know it was strangely quiet. It was quiet cold yesterday so maybe everyone stayed indoors? I can't stop thinking about curry but DH doing roast lamb tonight! Woe is me Smile

In terms of sleeping we had a Moses basket that my sister gave us. DD hated it! We were also given a sleepyhead which was the best thing ever! She slept in it and it was easy to have on the bed next to us. We then bought a swinging crib from John Lewis and put it in there next to me. She has a cotbed now which is white with a bit of wood at the top. It's gorgeous. I could get her used to the cotbed by placing the sleepyhead in here. When I think about it she had a lot of beds!!!

AnnaT45 · 31/01/2016 11:25

This is the cotbed we have

Cheery1 · 31/01/2016 11:56

primary that pressure feeling sounds familiar. Worse if I need the loo! Bump seems bigger at the end of the day sometimes too.

Loving the crib/cotbed thoughts. We're looking at snuzpod. We're inheriting a Moses basket but think as I'm a worrier I'd be better with the reassurance of bedside sleeping. Good to hear other options though from experienced mums Smile

ValerieTheHorse · 31/01/2016 12:35

We had a cot, then a cot bed last time and I'd now go for a cosleeper/bedside thing because I got so fed up with getting up, taking two steps, picking up baby, two steps back to the bed, sitting to feed, winding, back to cot, back into bed, baby cries, back up etc. We ended up cosleeping a lot as I was unlucky and had a really bad sleeper and it was the only way to get some sleep. I love co sleeping now, we still do it most of the time and are rearranging our bedroom so we can put two double beds side by side so all four of us can sleep comfortably together! Initially I will sleep on one bed with the baby between me and the wall (no gap) and then ds and DP on the other side of me. Longer term I'd like both kids to sleep on one bed and dp and I on the other, so we can still settle them without having to get out of bed (I'm very lazy! And it's cold in our house) but they (hopefully) won't have their feet in our faces all night. Cosleeping longer term isn't for everyone, I fully appreciate that, but it's so much easier in those early few months and then if you're lucky and get a sleeper you can just shift them into a cot bed with no trouble. Or you can do sleep training, but as this isn't recommended until at least six months you may as well co sleep / have them in a bedside cot initially.

Moses baskets are quite good as you Canmore them in the daytime and then put them right next to your bed and hang an arm in in the night so they can smell/feel you right there, but my ds outgrew his really fast.
