P.S. Vikki - hope you're looking after yourself this eve. Sounds like you needed a good cry. Hope blood pressure sorts itself out too.x

Wanting - hope move ok and that you're resting up now.

Cookies - can't recommend yoga enough - also there's a great exercise DVD from Erin O'Brien. I'm finding any exercise is good at the mo

Cheery1 · 26/01/2016 21:53

P.p.s. Cookies - feeling sick at work is no fun! Sounds like you don't need that exercise DVD though of you're teaching classes!

wantingno2 · 27/01/2016 07:19

Thanks everyone the move went well was so stressful glad it's done now I love the new place just a few things to buy. Can't wait for my scan tomorrow x

BelOfTheBall79 · 27/01/2016 08:26

Midwife appt went well yesterday, all good with blood pressure etc. I heard the heart beat which was very exciting (!), agree it's just so reassuring to know everything seems to be ok in there. Wish I'd read that idea about recording it on my phone, DH was gutted not to have heard the heart beat as he couldn't come to the appt.

Scase I think if you want a scan you should go for it! It will help reassure you. I've basically let my hair go of late (got some pretty bad greys going on, DH occasionally calls me 'the badger') but I don't care. I think sometimes older generations, who might not have had all these scans, think it's unnecessary but I think take advantage of what's there!

Wanting glad the move is going well, don't overdo it though!

Cheery your MIL does sound pretty full on. Mine lives 5 hours away although to be fair I think she's pretty chilled thank goodness!

Vikki so sorry you got upset at the doctor's, although it does sound like you need to let it out. Sending you Thanks

And welcome Thom. I had IVF too although thankfully it was pretty straightforward. There are lots of mums on the thread who are having second, third, fourth etc with lots of brilliant advice and tips!

Me and DH did a big research session on prams last night. Think we have narrowed down to the Silver Cross Surf 2 or the iCandy Peach. Any views from anyone on those?

AnnaT45 · 27/01/2016 08:44

Hello all, finally had chance to catch up properly! My DD has been unwell all weekend and then Monday we discovered she had tonsillitis! I've had very little sleep but she's not a great sleeper anyway!

Wanting in glad the move went well. Make sure you take it easy when you can.

Scase I really think it's up to you. How long would you have to wait till you had the private scan till your 20 week? All I would consider is doing it later as its a long time from 20 weeks till you give birth.

I think I'm going to do baby wearing because I'll have an 18 month old and I'm planning to breastfeed again so I can do it hands free hopefully! Has anyone successfully feed in a sling?

Re routines I'm a bit of control freak and read Gina ford, baby whisperer and loads of other stuff on the Internet. I was determined to have a structure from very early on! However, I had a hard birth and was unwell afterwards. My DD had awful reflux and allergies and as a result was / is a very poor sleeper! I wish I had been more open minded and realised its the baby not the parent that dictates how things go! I got my knickers in a right twist over it but in the end accepted she didn't want a routine. It actually worked out better for me. I had friends who were rigid and would rush home for naps etc. Where as DD went with the flow and I could do as I wanted! My point is go with the flow and try not to put pressure on it especially for the first few months. All babies are different and you just learn to go with their needs. X

AnnaT45 · 27/01/2016 08:46

Bell I remember looking at the icandy and really liked it. We ended up going for a bugaboo in the end as DH is tall and it was great for him!

wantingno2 · 27/01/2016 08:48

The to guys we got to help us were my partners friends they kept shouting at me to stop moving things Confused they were so lovley though they put loads of stuff in the attic for me and plumbed my washing machine in and showed me how to work the heating xx

bet9d · 27/01/2016 10:14

Had my 16 week midwife appointment today, I asked to check heartbeat as it wasn't offered so she did and was super clear Grin. Really glad I asked because I've felt a bit deflated this week so was lovely to know everything sounds okay in there!

Thom80 · 27/01/2016 10:22

Bet9d - really pleased that the appointment went well today, and you got to hear the heartbeat.

I am stuck at home today doing a 24 hr urine collection for the hospital. I have my in-laws over for dinner tonight and it is going to be interesting explaining why there is a container with my urine in the bathroom!

Scase1firsttimemum · 27/01/2016 16:44

Ive been eating mayonnaise most of my pregnancy only to be told I shouldnt eat it coz it contains raw egg ConfusedSadSad now Im scared!!

mascaraisamust · 27/01/2016 17:06

Scase Mayo like hellmans is fine, it's only homemade Mayo that you need to be careful with! X

mascaraisamust · 27/01/2016 17:07

I'm addicted to chicken mayo sandwiches, had three this week alone!

mascaraisamust · 27/01/2016 17:09

Glad the 16 week appointments are going well! Can't wait for mine on Monday.

Currently a bit nervous as I should be stopping the progesterone tonight after weaning myself off for two weeks, taking it every other night. Terrified after my early mc, it really has been a security blanket for me. Got a few left, tempted to keep going Confused

Scase1firsttimemum · 27/01/2016 17:29

Ive been having it in sandwhiches that are shop bought not thinking about reading ingredients.. Didnt even realise we werent allowed it..

Mascara Im sure you will be fine! If you have been weaning yourself off them and baby is still okay then Im sure baby will still be okay when you stop taking them Smile dont stress yourself out by panicking as that isnt good for either of you, keep calm and think positively!

On another note, Im getting pain in my lower abdomen when I pee :( proper hurts, think I need a trip to the doctorsSad

Ellizardo · 27/01/2016 17:32

Mascara - good luck with the weaning off, totally understandable nerves. Think of the mayo sandwiches as hormone replacement! Will continuing a little longer be a prob?

Cookies - good luck with yoga search..Pilates a good alternative too if that helps to spread the net so to speak

Cheery - feel your freelance frustration...it's an awkward limbo period right now isn't it? 'Stuck' between Ted and July makes it difficult to put yourself forward for things. So I'm focusing on buying radiators...

mascaraisamust · 27/01/2016 17:39

Don't think it can do any harm Elizardo, I've got 6 left. Last took it Sunday, so I've gone Monday/Tuesday without it... This is the longest I've gone. Maybe I should just cut ties now.

I've had shop bought sandwiches too Scase they are fine, mine said pasteurised egg from the coop X

mascaraisamust · 27/01/2016 17:40

And Tesco, and sainsburys Hmm think I'll give chicken mayo sampling a miss now...

Bluebell20 · 27/01/2016 17:42

Cheery - oh LORD, sounds like you have a tricky mil. Now, my dad sometimes gets in the habit of calling Every. Single. Day. to chat to me for 45 minutes about nothing. I have a really hard time not picking up the phone in case it's something important. However, enough really was enough, and a couple of weeks ago I just... unplugged the landline permanently for a couple of days. And unplugged it during the daytime and dinnertime for about a week. Broke the habit beautifully, and now we're back to twice-weekly calls.

Of course, if she's calling a mobile, this may not help...

Wanting, glad the move went well.

Scase, don't worry about mayo in a shop-bought sandwich - the egg will have been pasteurised (although it is worth checking the label just to be sure). As mascara said, it's really only home-made mayo that you need to worry about.

In poo news (I know you all love a bit of poo news), I did have a slight panic at my new place of work today when I thought I might be having a constipated moment on the toilet... Images flashed through my head of me sitting on the toilet for the next fifteen minutes, and then having to do the walk of shame back to my desk!

However, thankfully, the poo got its skates on and saved my blushes. Whew.

18 + 1

mascaraisamust · 27/01/2016 17:45

I've not read back yet, don't mean to ignore you cheery!

Scase sounds like you've got a uti Hmm

Scase1firsttimemum · 27/01/2016 17:49

Thanks for the reassurance!! Another bad thing is Im really craving prawns!!! My sister had them throughout her pregnancy with my nephew as that was her craving and I really want some! Being treated to a chinese tonight and seriously wanna order some might do it by phone so I can say especially to properly cook them for me:)

If you feel comfortable not taking them then go for it, if not carry on until you run out :)

pulpi · 27/01/2016 20:43

Bluebell, congrats on the work poop success AKA the dump and run!

Bluebell20 · 27/01/2016 21:12

Ta pulpi, I did feel a real sense of achievement.

By the way, Ellizardo and Cheery, I am also wobbling a bit with freelance work. I'm finding the difficulty is knowing what to take on - it's the balance between wanting to get as much money tucked away as possible before the summer, but also not wanting to accept too many crap or knackering jobs.

I had a really WEIRD job offer today, from a company I've freelanced for before, but offering me only half the rate they normally pay! What is that all about?! It's a different contact, so maybe there are some crossed wires somewhere, but I am just building up the courage to respond and ask for double the money. Eek!

Ellizardo · 27/01/2016 22:27

Bluebell - that is weird, I hope they're not implying / being cheeky knowing you're pregnant and that its just a miscommunication. If so I suggest you dump and run at their HQ!! Xx

Cheery1 · 27/01/2016 22:29

bluebell and elizardo - the trials of freelancing eh?! I've got a lead on another better job so things looking up slightly but it is stressful knowing that I won't be able to work for a while. Oh well, guess I'll just start looking at prams and nursery colour schemes instead Smile

Feeling less uptight about MIL since I had a good chat with DH. He's very aware of his Mum and all her clingyness so I feel better that we're one the same page, phew!

mascara don't you worry a jot. We're a chatty lot in here and it's hard to keep up!

scase you're making me want a chinese with prawn dumplings....mmmmmmmm!!!! Also NHS reckon they're fine as long as they're cooked and from a place you trust....might be worth telling them you're pregnant so they're extra careful?

Cheery1 · 27/01/2016 22:32

thom hope you got away with the wee in a pot in your bathroom! Ah the glamour of pregnancy!

Eliz run and dump!! Hahaha! Love it!
