felinewonderful · 23/01/2016 12:31

Thanks Ellizardo for your reply and thanks to youandme for the pm. Hope everyone is ok today, I'm fed up of constant headaches and paracetamol not doing a thing! Anyway have good Saturdays, I'm off to work soon, urgghh!!

Bluebell20 · 23/01/2016 13:09

Oh dear, I was already hungry and now reading about all those delicious foods has not helped at all!

So my pregnancy was announced on the newsletter at school this week. My class (Year One) were freaking hilarious about it. The first thing that happened as I walked in the classroom was one of the little girls launched herself at me, poked my tummy, and said, "Alex says you have a baby in your tummy, is that true?"

After I'd taken the register and settled them all down, I then let them ask any questions or make any comments that they wanted to. Got some absolute gems:

"I think your baby will be a girl because you're a girl."

"How does the baby get out?"

"I know how the baby gets in. It's a bit gross. First the daddy puts his willy in..." (I cut her off quite quickly at this point!!!)

"I feel sorry for you. I don't want you to have a baby." "But I want a baby - you don't need to feel sorry for me." "I don't want you to have one. You'll change." "I won't change! I'll still be me!" "No you won't, you'll get a BIG TUMMY."

Classic.

FuzzyDucker · 23/01/2016 14:20

Bluebell, hilarious! I love what kids come out with!

I'm so sorry I'm rubbish at keeping up with this, I've just read 8 pages and can't remember who I wanted to say what to, but Flowers to those who need them and welcome to newbies!

16 weeks today.

Scase1firsttimemum · 23/01/2016 15:18

It was a very lovely dinner!!

Oh kids are great with what they come up with! They're brilliant! Haha

Im thinking about baby wearing.. Has anyone done this? Wheres the best place to get one or best brand to get? And how long can you baby wear for? I really want to baby wear to get the bond I want with my baby :)

Ellizardo · 23/01/2016 15:43

Scase - what is baby wearing? Sorry I should look it up but dashing between comp and DS in high chair chucking stuff around

minieggaddict · 23/01/2016 16:42

Hi all

Just back from picking up my bargain maternity swim suit but ruined the saving by buying some maternity jeggings in H&M. Oh well my old leggings are a bit stretched from last time and really cold. Had to also go get a tin of peaches and wine gums. Baby seems to want these suddenly! Got a bit envious of you first timers able to go shopping for baby stuff altho exhausted from what little shopping I did today.

Nachos and corn on the cob for tea later!

Hope everyone is doing ok today x

AnnaT45 · 23/01/2016 16:52

Oh I love the uppababy Elizardo but not sure I convince DH to splash out again so soon after the last one! Working on it!

Thanks for all the dungaree love showed my DH and he was so unimpressed with them, said they weren't his style... But I buy all his clothes mainly which he loves. I proceeded to have a strop about mat jeans being too big and normal ones to small so need an in between!

Is anyone else looking to move before baby comes? Our home is lovely but too small for four so trying to find something before summer, just so little out there so may go for a new build which appeals to me more and more! Saw one home today and they hadn't even cleaned... What is wrong with people!

I want nachos now!!!

mascaraisamust · 23/01/2016 16:56

Minie I'm stuffing my face with wine gums here too!

It's a homemade curry, onion bhargi, vegetable samosa, peshwari Nan sort of night tonight Confused

allthegoodnamesalreadytaken · 23/01/2016 17:04

Happy Saturday all hope you're all having a relaxing day. Spent the day playing room jenga. We're turning the guest room into the nursery and turning DH's beloved "games room" into the guest room (cue lots of moaning from DH about having to give up his man cave) The way I see it he won't have much time for gaming when baby arrives anyway and he can still play his games in the guest room once in a while so dunno what all the moaning is about. Anyhoo any recommendations for a decent baby monitor? I've heard the ones with sensors can be really annoying - is it worth getting one? Thoughts on audio vs video?

wantingno2 · 23/01/2016 17:34

I'm moving house on Monday anna I'd get it done as soon as possible if I were you as it's very stressful and the further along you get in you pregnancy the more stressful it will be in have a toddler to contend with also I've not even packed a thing he's going to his nanny's tomorrow for 2 nights so I'm going to start tonight and get all the rest done tomorrow it doesn't help that I'm suffering with terrible pains from my ovaries ow how the Lord knows I can't wait to get these bloody ovaries out after the baby is born it's like period pain 10 times over hoping to freeze some eggs and donate the rest sorry everyone I'm waffling on again lol x

AnnaT45 · 23/01/2016 18:32

Quick wanting get some stuff into boxes! Yeah I agree think we just need to pull the trigger on the new build. It should be ready late April. We've decided to get a removal company to help if it is that late. Do you have far to move? How old is your DS? I hope you get it all done.

I didn't do baby wearing last time but my DD had a lot of tummy problems and had to be held always so I would put her in the baby bjorn which was a life saver! This time round I'm getting a sling that I can feed in whilst playing tea party with DD GrinBrew

HopesAndDreams15 · 23/01/2016 20:07

Mascara yes the apple definitely makes up for the dominoes...a perfectly balanced diet!

Bluebell that's hilarious, kids are so funny.

Scase I fancy a sling this time round, I thought it would be good for the school run.

I'm going to look at a new car tomorrow, swapping my 4x4 for a more practical 7 seater...a bit sad about it as I love my car but need the extra seats with number 3 on the way Sad

14 + 2

Scase1firsttimemum · 23/01/2016 20:35

Ellizardo- baby wearing is when you put a sling on and put the baby in that so she/he is against your body great for bonding and also practical as you still have both hands! Ive attached a photo to show what I mean :)

wantingno2 · 23/01/2016 22:18

So I've just ordered a gender prediction test from a website called gendermaker I no its probably a crock of st but I was curiouse to see if it was accurate or not lol have a look at it if you have time. anna I no I'm so terrible I haven't done a thing I've been feeling so rubbish I keep saying I will get the boxes out in a minute then an hour pages buy Shock

wantingno2 · 23/01/2016 22:19

Passes* stupid auto correct

mascaraisamust · 24/01/2016 07:40

Eugh nighttime dehydration is back! A litre of water consumed and I've still got a headache and dry mouth. Gasping!

15 weeks tomorrow and gender scan in 13 days, eek!! Also picking up my pram today Grin (sale bargain, oops).

Plan: (DH doesn't know this yet) is to pick up the pram and stop off somewhere lush and consume Sunday lunch with lots of veg!! Is it made that I'm thinking this at 7:30am??

mascaraisamust · 24/01/2016 07:42

Scase baby wearing looks cool, but I'd be awful at getting the sling on/putting baby in. Is it easier than it looks?!

Ellizardo · 24/01/2016 08:03

Scase - that does look cosy. I have Baby Bjorn and liked that but my dodgy back means I can't be too big on sling stuff.

Mascara - your Sunday plans sound perfect: bit of retail therapy, bit of nosh!

Anna - We bought our house in August 2014 and we're still not in...I know! Builders in at the moment, total refit - replumb/rewire/new floor/kitchen etc. I'm exhausted just thinking about it. But I've been assured it'll be ready by July....

BUT

Saw midwife for 16 week appointment on Sat and she said as I'm likely to go for ELCS this time, it'll probably happen around 39 weeks so more time pressure on the house being ready. Great!

allthegoodnamesalreadytaken · 24/01/2016 08:47

scase I'm planning to get the Ergobaby 4 position carrier as a sling. It's got really good reviews. I don't think I would be very good at the wrap ones they look too complicated to me

Scase1firsttimemum · 24/01/2016 09:34

There are videos you can watch on youtube that shows you how to wrap them, its not too hard to do (so sorry Im so bad with remembering, this was for the person who said is wrapping them easier than it looks haha)

I have been looking at carriers also, but loving the look of the wraps at the moment, just because of how close baby will beSmile

MrsRolly · 24/01/2016 09:34

I am also planning to get a sling (or maybe two) had a wear of my friends ergo on Friday and it's lovely. She also has a babasling which I managed to get her lovely baby off to sleep in 10 minutes max with fairly limited effort after she was hugely overtired and grizzly! Was magical!

Fourormore · 24/01/2016 09:49

Wrapping is a bit like tying shoes laces or tying a tie - tricky the first few times but once you've got the hang of it it's really easy. There are lots of sling libraries that you can go along to for help too. Something like a close caboo would be good if you're not too confident or want something easy to put on quickly as it's mostly pre-wrapped with just a bit around the waist to tie.
The good thing is that the weight is distributed over your body so you don't have the same strain on your back as you do with the usual baby bjorn type carriers.

Lucia82 · 24/01/2016 11:17

You have all been so busy! Welcome new people, and interesting to read everyone's plans and purchases... We have bought nothing. And as a first timer I have no idea what we really need. However, my SIL was a nanny, so we sort of joke she can just tell us, and will be on hand to do everything for us, get baby in a routine. You know, in a sort of Victorian/downton type dream life where we are are all practically perfect.
In reality, I know she will help out and give advice but is also a lovely person who will not get in the way, and is going on holiday in July, so plenty of time for me to get on with it and work it out for myself!
Went to a party last night and spent most of the evening being told other people's birthing/naming/pregnancy stories... I was driver, obviously, and yet this morning I've woken up with a 'hangover'. Must have been all that fizzy water I knocked back! Seems rather unfair :)
I have been craving tuna mayonnaise. Time to read up how much tuna a week I'm allowed...
Please keep all your funny stories, advice and rants coming. Even the typing errors are making me chuckle-particularly 'leaky books'....Smile

pulpi · 24/01/2016 11:45

A pregnancy constipation victory: Just had the most amazing poop. Blush Oh, the relief. I resisted the urge to drag my DH into the bathroom and proudly show him what I've clearly spent the last week making, but that didn't stop me from describing it in detail! Luckily DH is a patient man.

Honestly, if I accomplish nothing else today I will still feel as though I have won the day. Because I have, ladies. I have. Grin
