Congrats Cookies, welcome to team blue!!! :)

wantingno2 · 17/01/2016 22:14

Congrats cookies I'm hoping for team pink this time would be nice to have one of each will happy either way but will have to plan for a 3rd baby if it's team blue this time x

Ellizardo · 18/01/2016 07:46

Phone lost my earlier message, grrrr.

Cookies - what a legend your kid is already! Are we even now? 2 of each?

I suppose the great clothes bundle swop will happen later this year but I have a load of lovely boys clothes (and I'm sure I'm not the only one) that I will be getting rid of in anticipation of DD. I couldn't resist buying a couple of things for her in the John Lewis sale yesterday!

Cheery - had to buy a carnet of 5x lessons so that is motivation enough to definitely go!

Cheery1 · 18/01/2016 09:30

elizardo - now that is a good plan. Think I'll book a few classes once we're out of the loooong poor month of January. Definitely worth going regularly. I felt so much better after the class.

Pinseyboo38 · 18/01/2016 10:19

Just to let you ladies know, results are back and everything is fine with little one. Also found out I'm team pinkSmileSmileSmile
I might actually be able to start enjoying this pregnancy now xx

Lucia82 · 18/01/2016 10:23

I bought a set of DVDs for pre and ante pilates/fitness etc but only had a go once of the pilates before morning sickness took hold....

I really hated her style. Too fast, bit sloppy. And quite difficult movements which if you were new to the exercise it would be easy to pull a muscle.

I have been going to a class locally for about 2 years, and love it. The teacher is great, makes us work hard, and the other people who go are lovely. I am by far the youngest, but each class is like an episode of Dinner Ladies. I think it is as much laughing therapy as strengthening! Due to being pregnant she asked if I might attend the earlier class, the beginner.... With a Swiss ball.

Well. I was ready to hate it before I went. New people. No joking. A relax time at the end... But I felt the exercises she set me were very good, and I am still aching days after as it obviously used different muscles. Also it was sooooooo relaxing.

I strongly recommend finding a class if anyone has time etc and I will be signing up to a prenatal yoga class later on. Healthy mum, healthy birth, healthy baby. Well, that's the hope anyway!!

Hope you all have a lovely Monday,

Pinsey, That is great news. Delighted for you. It must be such a relief, and congrats on team pink.
Feeling so tired recently. Much more tired than first trimester. I asked the midwife about my iron levels last week (as I have been anaemic in the recent past) and she had said that the bloods had come back fine. Hopefully it will pass. I am fine when I wake up (if I have slept) but about 2 hours later I could go back to my bed and sleep for another few hours. Also I am feeling uncomfortably full really fast when I eat a meal and my belly gets huge after I eat too. I can barely finish my dinner most nights and I don't eat big helpings. Anyone else like this? Concerned for when it gets to 3rd tri and you are supposed to up your calorie intake. I don't think I am getting near the 2000 calories I require at the moment.
On a positive note went shopping for baby's going home outfit yesterday. Just browsed really. There are so many pretty dresses and bright colourful outfits. Really had to stop myself from buying everything I saw.

YouAndMeAreGoingToFallOut · 18/01/2016 10:46

Congratulations to everyone who has had successful scans over the weekend.

I'm not in a great place at the moment. As well as my cervical length worries, over the weekend my dad had a stroke and is in hospital.

Obviously very worried, but I can't get down south to see him, at least partly because I need to be here to see my midwife and follow up on the cervix issues. My mum has told me it's best if I stay up here and wait for things to become clearer - he sees a doctor again today and we should then know more about what will happen next.

Cheery1 · 18/01/2016 11:42

great news pinsey! Hope you can relax today Smile

Cheery1 · 18/01/2016 11:45

youandme so sorry about your Dad. That's so worrying for you. Can you speed up process with midwife about your cervix or go see your GP just so if you do want to travel to see your Dad you can? Sending hugs to you x

Cheery1 · 18/01/2016 11:47

woodsy - yep, same with eating big portions, feel dreadful if I eat a big meal. Having said that I'm hungry more frequently so I reckon I'm getting the calories with eating little and often. That might be the way forward...can you take healthy tasty snacks with you to work maybe?

Cheery1 · 18/01/2016 11:48

Agree lucia - healthy mum = healthy bubba!

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 18/01/2016 11:52

Hi to all the newbies.

Crazy lovely scan photo. So pleased that everything is well.

Hopes I was shocked at the cost of pushchairs now that's why we got second hand in the end. I just couldn't justify it.

To all those feeling the cold. It could be worse our rental house is freezing. We just cannot get warm. The heating bills are ridiculous. We may have to move. This will be our 8th house together. We just want to settle somewhere. We are looking at a house this week but the rent is even higher. We will never afford to buy at this rate.

Lucia what makes you think baby is a girl. Just out of interest. I can't believe they are making you go back for your bloods. I had mine at scan and I was 13 weeks.

Thistle what a lovely bump. It's nice and high.

Cookies there's nothing of you. My bum is about 3 times the size. You are lovely and slim. Huge congratulations on a boy. Will that be your family complete now? It makes me want to find out but I won't I'm too scared.

Mini lovely bump. Again you aren't big in any way at all.

Pulpi I can hardly see anything in your picture. You are lovely and slim. I'm so jealous.

Kent that's a nice neat bump.

Jem I'm self employed so I'm going to try and hold out until 38 weeks before I take maternity. However, I work upstairs in the salon and going up and down the stairs towards the end doesn't sound fun plus I might be really affected by the heat so I may change my mind and leave earlier.

Bel good luck with the car hunting. We have a ford Galaxy. I absolutely love it. Obviously we are on our fourth so need a 7 seater but we leave one seat down in the back so there is loads of boot space. Do you have a link for the Jojo pillow it sounds fab. I had a dream genii last time but wasn't keen.

When looking at car seats different ones go with different pushchairs. For example our bugaboo has about four options of car seat. I personally like the maxi cosi car seat as it fits most travel systems and is one of the lighter seats. We are going to get an isofix as well as its just easier to clip the seat onto it rather than faffing with a seat belt every time you put the baby in the car. You can get lots of offers at certain times of year where the car seat is free so worth shopping around.

Pinsey I'm so happy that everything is ok for you. Congratulations on a little girl.

I had my midwife appt today. It was very disappointing. They didn't listen for the heartbeat or check my tummy and I won't be seen again until 28 weeks Sad they did ask if I have any pain on urinating as my urine has traces of protein. Am I right in thinking others have had this? My sample has been sent to the doctors and they will call me if any problems.

minieggaddict · 18/01/2016 13:28

Thanks beautician 😊 rather like my bump too altho it's still flabby but I'll miss it after the birth! Annoying that you had a rubbish appt. Hope time flies til the next scan.x

Woodsy - yep get full really quick too. When I've eaten out it's been child portions lol and my bump is always bigger and firmer at night. I think I was like it with dd right up til the last 4 weeks when I suddenly ate like a horse and mostly cakes which was great for my milk but baby came out 9lb 3oz so hoping this time to restrain myself a bit and not go so over due!

Can't advise re car seats...ideally isofix is the safest I believe but not all older cars have the bars they go on (mils ford focus doesn't).

Well done on all the scans.x

Scase1firsttimemum · 18/01/2016 13:43

My bump is hardening round the sides but the middle is still a bit squishy, is that normal at all or anyone else have this?

I dont know whether Im getting a UTI or not :( I have had cystitis before and it was HORRIBLE and I cant go through that again! I keep getting what seems like the onset of the symptoms but then they just stop and Im fine.. I go to midwife next week so Ill have to wait till then as Im a busy bee this week!

Cookiesandcoffee · 18/01/2016 13:46

pinsey so glad everything is ok. Congratulations on joining team pink Smile
So sorry to hear about you dad youandme like someone said maybe if you speak to your midwife things can be hurried along? Play the stress card. I hope there is some good news. A family member recently had a stroke and made a great recovery. Hope you hear some good news.
lucia agree on the healthy happy mama! Determined to keep my exercise up for this very reason. I haven't done yoga since BFP but due to work commitments. :(
woodsy I agree on the it meals. I pay for it for hours. I'm still managing to eat lots though. Luckily my scales are broken.
beautician really sad to hear you feel so sad following your app. Did you ask to hear heartbeat? I've always had mine done at 15/6 week app. I think my next app is 24 weeks where I am. To get Mat1b or whatever it's called. As I guess is a process as you're self employed? Oh and we are definitely done. #3 was my idea rather than DH. He's booking his vasectomy very soon! Would have been the last regardless of sex tbh. So is really great news. As much as a boy is unknown Wink

I second beautician with a Maxi Cosi. They are light and fit most travel systems. I had the clip on isofix base and worth every penny. Two friends have also borrowed it and now I'm stealing it back Smile i have a Phil and Teds for DD2 ATM but after reading reviews I'm not going to bother with making it into a double. The combinations don't seem to work for us ? Dd2 is just 3 but still goes in pushchair lots. I have a Mutsy Evo (would recommend) which I think I'll plan to use with a buggy board and reviews also said a buggy board didn't work well with the P&Teds. If anyone has any advice to offer that would be fab! I might post in pushchairs later down the line

pulpi · 18/01/2016 13:56

Beautician, there's definitely a wee bump there, but it is very wee. And mostly pasta. I can't do up my trousers anymore so I'm using a bump band I picked up in Canada.

I haven't gained any weight through the first trimester at all. Actually lost a few kilos. I expect that is about to change... Especially as I bought a bag of M&Ms and Malteasers at lunch! Also sweetclems, but it's a safe bet I won't break into those midafternoon.

photographerlady · 18/01/2016 15:03

Soo jealous of the gender scans. I have another month till mine.

Went mad at the john lewis sale, cot, new crib, mattresses etc. Walked away with hundreds off. So glad I gave our DD1 the master bedroom as I like them to room together. Well.. new baby will be with us the first 6 months or so.. who am I kidding my 2 year old still wakes up at night and sneaks in my bed. So yeah my husband is going to have to find a new place to sleep.

Congrats Cookies and Pinseyboo38 on the scans

Youandme, I'm so sorry to hear the news about your dad. Fingers very much crossed for him and for you - your appointment is tomorrow isn't it?

Pinsey, delighted about your results, congratulations! It's such a relief, isn't it?

Scase, my bumpiest bit is still squishy; it's underneath the bump that's started to harden off.

Actually, my bump seems to have not grown at all in the last week or so; not sure what's going on there. I wish it wasn't so long until the 20 week scan. DH keeps putting his ear on it to have a listen, but I think all he's hearing is my digestive system!!!

I have been bored out of my mind trying to do a freelance job I should never have taken on because it's so badly paid. I'm making it worse paid though, by dragging it out! Finally got a good few things done on it this afternoon so hopefully I'll feel able to crack on now.

I'm starting my new (temporary) job tomorrow, and I'm quite nervous. It's the first time in years that I'll have worked in an actual office with other adults. And I haven't seen anyone in person yet - mostly have been dealing with them via email - so I haven't yet told them that I'm pregnant. I'm really hoping that they won't mind, as the job is only guaranteed for three months, with only the vaguest possibility of playing out longer than that, so my pregnancy in all likelihood won't affect anything.

About to go and make myself ten tons of packed lunch and snacks, as I'm a bit scared of being out of the house all day in a new environment where I don't know where I can go to get emergency food!!!

Youandme sorry you're having a roughy time of it, call your midwife and explain, the circumstances are rather different. Hope all is ok with your dad x

So I've had a letter from the consultant at the hospital who's told me to continue with the cyclogest for a few weeks and advised me to still take vitamin d3 supplements. I'm now confused, I stopped the d3 supplement as they are in the pregnacare but only half the dosage of what I was prescribed (they found I had low levels when TTC). Not sure if I take both?! Not sure who to ask?! Can you speak to a consultant?

Feeling much better today and seen as I've only put on 1lb so far I'm glad the appetite is back!

mascaraisamust · 18/01/2016 16:22

And worryingly my love of cheese (calcium which helps absorb vitamin d) so maybe I am lacking in it still?! Maybe I should wait for my blood results as they checked my vitamin d too. Just tried the doctors and no results in as yet. Did you call the doctors or were the results in the post? And also did it just tell you nuchal or include other info? Sorry to bombard with questions!!

Jem01 · 18/01/2016 16:39

youandme I'm sorry to hear about your dad hope he gets better soon

Congrats pinsey and cookie! Will people start adding what team they are with their stats?

No gender scan for me, we want a surprise. Plus I already know we're having a boy, call it mother's intuition Wink

Today I booked on to pregnancy yoga and think I'll do Pilates too, just need to find a class nearby.

Hope everyone has had a good day so far.

Thanks everyone - my midwife appointment is tomorrow morning so I will update you all afterwards on what comes of that. Feel exhausted today - too many worries on my worry list!

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 18/01/2016 17:30

I've updated the stats a bit. Hope you don't mind Bluebell Cookies but I've added what you are having. I can't remember who else has found out. Also Pinsey I can't see you on the stats. I've added Surprise for me as we aren't finding out.
