elizardo - do it! Taut and twangy all the way!

Cookiesandcoffee · 16/01/2016 22:10

Joining you all on the indigestion. Or just acid reflux of some sort? Ate too much pasta and cheese too quickly Hmm
Impressive kentnurse indeed.
Yes bluebell they are really comfy. For reference these are the Topshop ones. I would recommend going a size down than you normally would in their jeans if anyone is thinking about them

Kentnurse2015 · 16/01/2016 22:10

I know elizardo! I think (hope) it's just because I've been pretty sick (vomiting every day) so have lost weight and that's made it more obvious! Grin

whizzbang03 · 17/01/2016 06:49

Lovely bump pics everyone! I made my first foray into the world of maternity wear shopping yesterday. If anyone's got a branch near them, JojoMamanBebe still seem to have lots of lovely things in the sale, some really heavily discounted now. I had ordered some stuff online from them post-Christmas in my usual size 16 but it all came up quite big (and not just in the stomach area) so was pleased to note I'm a mere (ahem) size 14 in Jojo clothes. Then I went to h&m and illusions were shattered when only the size 20 maternity jeans would fit! Blush Damn those svelte Swedes!
Anyway, feeling a bit more confident about work-wear this week now I have bottoms that fit.
Enjoy the rest of your weekends! I'm doing my usual awake-at-6am thing unfortunately, but at least I know I can take a much needed nap (or two) later!

mascaraisamust · 17/01/2016 07:43

What does indigestion feel like?! I had sore tummy after I ate. Only had my starter, couldn't eat my pizza Sad not doing too great on the eating front here. Headaches are back as is the dehydration too. Right, time to get up and get some water.

Cheery and Ellizardo I've reserved a place for antenatal yoga. Very popular round here it seems!

Jem01 · 17/01/2016 08:39

Morning everyone! Welcome to all the newbies! Lovely seeing all the bump pics, i don't have much of a bump so nothing to see..yet!

Been having really bad headaches recently-is it safe to take paracetamol? Seeing conflicting messages on Dr Google...

Whose having the private gender scan today? So exciting, good luck! :-)

For those who are working, have you thought about when you will finish for mat leave? Ideally would like to finish at 36 weeks, if my manager agrees. Interested to hear from those who worked before too and when u finished for mat leave.

Have a lovely Sunday!
Ps my boobs have suddenly gone HUGE over the last few days, loving it!! Smile

pulpi · 17/01/2016 08:47

Hey Jem, I told my manager that I'd like to work until at least 2 weeks before my due date. He looked at me like I was crazy (he has three kids) and suggested I might want to take some of my annual leave prior to 38 weeks to give myself a bit more of a break.

My sister, a RN in Canada (so on her feet all day) went on mat leave 2 weeks before her due date with both kids, but I think it all depends on how your pregnancy goes and how you're feeling.

13+3

birchybaby2 · 17/01/2016 08:54

Not that much of a bump here either. Have abandoned my jeans as couldn't do them up and now on maternity ones and leggings but my tops are ok.how long did it take from having nuchal measurements and bloods to getting the results?? Only had bloods last time and came back higher risk so trying to prepare that even more risk 7 years on!!! Xx

Kentnurse2015 · 17/01/2016 09:02

Paracetamol is absolutely fine Jem

Jem01 · 17/01/2016 09:12

Thanks Kentnurse2015 really helpful. I'm assuming from your name you are a real nurse? :-)

pulpi that's a really good idea about adding annual leave too, hadn't thought of that. So much to think about!

Cookiesandcoffee · 17/01/2016 09:14

jem paracetamol is absolutely fine! It's my gender scan today! I feel almost sick with nerves?! Don't know quite why, I think I'm still worried. Also I've been a bit naughty I'm actually only 15+6 but I'm hoping that a day won't be the difference between a willy and girlie bits?! (DH is working all next weekend)
With regards to starting maternity leave it depends on your job and how your pregnancy is. A full time on my feet job whilst suffering sciatica meant I left at 30 weeks BlushI did take my whole annual leave holiday entitlement following it but was 100% right thing to do!

mascaraisamust · 17/01/2016 09:16

Sorry I'm whinging away, now I think I've got a bug. Being sick Sad sorry for the pity posts but drinking and eating is so hard. Feeling increasingly dehydrated too. Day in bed for me I think.

Good luck whoever said they are having the gender scan, so exciting.

Pulpi I plan to work as late as I can! My leave date will be my due date, if I go off before then I will x

mascaraisamust · 17/01/2016 09:17

Cookies, God luck! I'm sure they will be able to tell!

Bluebell20 · 17/01/2016 09:19

Thanks for the tip on maternity jeans, Cookies!

Jem, because I am mostly self-employed, I'm lucky in that I'm going to be able to see how it goes regarding when to stop work. Except for my one day per week teaching, of course! But because it's only one day, I'm hoping that I'll be able to keep the teaching going as long as possible - and my last day of work before my due date happens to be an INSET, which is very handy. I'm putting my official leaving date for when I'll be 39.5 weeks - as my Head said, I can always start my leave earlier if I get to that point and find that I just can't manage it.

Today I really need to sit down and look at finances - what I will get paid on maternity leave, and when it will be worth me coming back to work. I was originally going to go back to the teaching quite quickly, but I have a feeling that actually I won't get much less on SMP, and therefore I may as well take my full maternity leave... I need to work it out!

16 + 5

Bluebell20 · 17/01/2016 09:20

Ooo Cookies good luck with the scan!

pulpi · 17/01/2016 09:33

Another thing to think about Jem is how very long the last month can be and how work can be a useful distraction. Well, provided that you're not too uncomfortable, etc. I have about 5 weeks leave left and if I took it all before mat leave, I think I'd go completely stir crazy in my house!

minieggaddict · 17/01/2016 09:36

Morning all!

Re mat leave: With dd I wanted to work til 38 weeks but just couldn't manage it. Left at 36 weeks and it was lovely to have a month at home before baby arrivedSmile...do no underestimate just how knackering late pregnancy is!

wantingno2 · 17/01/2016 09:38

Morning ladies good luck today with your scan cookies sorry to hear your feeling rubbish mascara hope you feel better soon. I'm 14+0 weeks today and my bump is nowhere near as big as it was with my son everyone sess your usually bigger second time around but that doesn't seem to be the case for me although I am in maternity wear I've not been able to button my pants up since about 6 weeks but that would of been bloating someone said about jojo maman bebe I couldn't buy anything from there as even there size 6 was to big so I went to h&m and had to buy a size 10 and 12 from there can never find anything true to size in maternity wear although when I was pregnant with my son primark did the best maternity jeans but they've stopped doing maternity wear now I was gutted when I went to town last week xx

pulpi · 17/01/2016 09:50

That's a good point, minie. I can't imagine how exhausted I'll be at 36 weeks. I've been power napping through the weekends since I was 8 weeks! Maybe taking the last month off isn't such a bad idea..

Jem01 · 17/01/2016 09:58

mascaraisamust sorry to hear you'll feeling under the weather

cookies can't wait to find out what you're having - good luck!

Hating all maternity wear at the moment. Everything makes me look bigger than I am (and don't even have much of a bump!) plus I'm tall too (5'10) so there are limited tall maternity ranges out there and the few that are, not very stylish. I'm resorting to a trick my sister showed me, using my hairband as a button extender. So I can still wear my old jeans but much more comfy with a gap by the button - hooray for small victories!

bluebell have been trying to work out my finances all weekend - definitely the least exciting part of pregnancy but probably most important. Working out what I'll get on mat leave, how much to save etc, is such a mind field.

15+2

Jem01 · 17/01/2016 10:01

minie good point, which is why I'm also planning on finish by 36 weeks! I'm so tired these days the idea of working beyond that date makes me feel even more exhausted.

mascaraisamust · 17/01/2016 10:09

Thanks Jem. Day in bed for me.

Bluebell I also need to do some number crunching as baby would need to be in nursery 4 days a week so I'd have to work out the difference! Maths is not my forte! Hmm

BelOfTheBall79 · 17/01/2016 11:07

Hi all, I've not posted for ages as I work away in the week quite a bit and have had a pretty rough week at work. At least the week is over though!

Me and DH went car shopping yesterday. I've got a two seater at the moment so need to get something more practical that will fit baby and baby gubbins in it! Also we live in the middle of nowhere and probably should get a 4x4. But anything semi-new is so expensive. Also most 4x4s are quite big and I don't think I'll cope very well with that. Saw one make I really liked but a bit on the pricey side unfortunately. Might wait a few months and hope it comes down in price.

So after no car buying disappointment we went to Jojo Maman Bebe and bought a pregnancy pillow. I LOVE it! So comfy. Am sitting in bed propped up with it now! Plus after birth you can use it for breast feeding and also for a cushion for the baby as it zips up. When DH got it out of the box he said it looks like a "massive cream turd"! Lovely. Think he's jealous now though. I saw the maternity clothes but was too exhausted to start trying stuff on!

Finally starting to feel a bit more normal now too, at long last. Now I'm just waiting for the 'pregnancy glow' that everyone tells me will come...

allthegoodnamesalreadytaken · 17/01/2016 12:15

jem my due date is 12th July and I'm finishing work at the end of May so roughly 6 weeks before. Taking the 6 weeks as annual leave so not really losing out financially. I might get bored at home but I commute from outside London into central London everyday so just didn't fancy doing that in the heat of summer with a huge baby bump when probably none of my clothes fit me any more. I plan to spend the 6 weeks sitting in the garden, reading books, eating ice cream Grin catching up on Netflix shows and maybe batch cooking lots of dishes and freezing them for the busy month after baby is born.

bel have you thought about a crossover instead of a 4x4? I was a bit worried about moving to a bigger car because I drove a Mini Cooper before, but we went for a crossover and it honestly doesn't feel that much bigger. The driving position is closer to the road than a 4x4 so it feels like a normal car size. Have a look at the Nissan Qashqai, Kia Sportage and Audi Q3/ Q5

minieggaddict · 17/01/2016 12:31

Batch cooking is an excellent idea..we lived of crappy frozen meals for a week as cooking is the last thing you want to do when you've just had a baby!

Today dh is sorting out the loft so we thought he might as well get the baby stuff down. Apparently there's a huge pile of stuff that now needs cleaning and cramming in to any available corner. Will we to get rid of it all after this one unless mil offers to store it just in case Wink
