Wow. The scan went so well. We saw the baby for a good half hour, waving and kicking. I burst into tears when I first saw the baby. I had not realized how worried I was until just then.

I'm measuring 13 weeks, not 12 like I had thought, so my new due date is 21 July.

Ah Pulpi, wonderful scan! Very similar to mine! Only 3 days behind me Wink

Question for you all: At the booking in, midwife didn't take urine/blood (said the hospital would), at 12 week scan only blood was taken, I asked about urine but was told the midwife will do it at some point? I thought this was standard? I've got no reason to be worried but thought it'd be worth checking up on? Has everyone had a urine test?

pulpi · 14/01/2016 19:34

Mascara I had bloods (so many bloods) and urine at my booking appointment, and then another blood test today with the scan. I, like you, assumed this was standard.

mascaraisamust · 14/01/2016 19:43

Hmm I had one blood test and no urine test at all...

Cookiesandcoffee · 14/01/2016 20:04

Lovey scan pulpi Smile
mascara I have had urine taken at every midwife app, never the hospital.
Welcome whizz . Would the hospital not invite you back for another scan to try again?
Glad your appointment went well mini Smile

mascaraisamust · 14/01/2016 20:09

Hmm, I will call the midwife tomorrow as I need to book in for the 16 week appointment and I'll mention that no one has checked it then. Got to take progesterone for another couple of weeks too.

Welcome to the new people!

HopesAndDreams15 · 14/01/2016 20:17

Congrats Pulpi, same due date as me!

Welcome Whizz and birchybaby!

Well done on the new job Beaut, don't push yourself though! I only had 6 months on with my other but I'm planning on taking 9-12 months this time...that's the dream however realistically I'm sure finances will force be back a lot sooner Confused

Youandme hope your midwife can put your mind at ease, it must be a worry for you.

Thanks for the sling tips Fuzzy, I've joined the FB group as I'm keen to try this time.

Sorry those who I've missed...I can't tell you how sick and tired I feel today...help! Sad

13 + 0 (my body obviously hasn't had the memo)

mascaraisamust · 14/01/2016 20:46

Ah no hopes! I'm pretty symptomless now. Apart from my expanding belly and slight tenderness I'm feeling fab again! Apart from I'm gone back to being ice cold!! Soo cold! Always night, can't warm up.

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 14/01/2016 20:47

Ahh Alan Rickman was sad news. However, I have to say I was more upset about David Bowie. In fact devastated. I cried my eyes out on Monday although probably my hormones too. I was a massive fan. When I was growing up my best friend & I were obsessed with him. I've been playing his songs ever since. Sorry completely off topic.

Whizz welcome. I would be inclined to just wait for the results from your bloods. I always told everyone after my 12 week scan. I'm not sure if you are aware but the nuchal fold scan only came in a few years ago. I had it done with ds3 but with ds1 and ds2 it didn't exist. You just had the bloods at 16 weeks. Hopefully that has put your mind at ease.

Pulpi fab scan.

Hopes thank you. I think our finances may be worse if I go back sooner. Due to my childcare costs pretty much wiping out my wages.

Scase1firsttimemum · 14/01/2016 21:57

Dont worry Beautician I was off topic ahaa, to be honest I never really listened to David but grew up watching Harry Potter so am devastated about Alan!

My worst symptom now is round ligament pain! It hurts quite a bit! Not nice

I used my boyfriends sisters heart doppler thing again and found it hard to keep it on the babies heart beat as it kept moving away! I heard it properly for all of 10 seconds and the baby shied away again! Reassuring to hear it though SmileGrin

Also I got my 20 week scan date through.. 23rd of Feb cant come quick enough! May have to book that private gender scan Wink

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 14/01/2016 22:10

Scase I'm just showing my age haha. Some of the younger people at work didn't even know who David Bowie was Sad. I have my 20 week scan on the 24th I got the date at my 12 week scan so I've been on countdown ever since.

Cheery1 · 14/01/2016 22:15

Great pic Pulpi!

scase so sad about Alan Rickman - can't quite believe it. I thought he'd be around for ages yet. I thought he was much younger than Bowie. A world without both is unreal.

My 20 wk is on 23rd Feb too, on count down as well bluebell!

Cheery1 · 14/01/2016 22:25

Ooops didn't mean to put Bowie in capitals - he was a legend though so I suppose it's warrented

julfin · 15/01/2016 00:04

AllTheGood - do you know that 26 January is the next strike day? I mention it because I pointlessly missed an entire morning of work this Tuesday when I went to the hospital for an appointment with a doctor who turned out to be away on strike - they only told me that after I'd got there and they told me to wait for another doctor to fit me in, and then after a couple of hours they told me that actually there were no other doctors there with the relevant specialism (pregnancy and epilepsy). So I've had to book more time off work - and guess which day my rescheduled appointment is on? 26 Jan! I'm probably going to rearrange it pre-emptively because otherwise if the strike goes ahead it'll be another fortnight before I can get another appointment... Anyway (with apologies for the long rant - I'm still annoyed!) I just thought I'd mention it so you don't fall into the same trap!

RoseInWonderland - I love that your photo was taken through the looking glass! Made me giggle.

Here's a weird symptom: I find I sweat less when I exercise, now that I'm pregnant. Strange but true...

Welcome to the new ladies!

13+2

allthegoodnamesalreadytaken · 15/01/2016 05:16

julfin thanks for the heads up I didn't know that at all aaargh! I think I will give the midwife a call today and see if I can reschedule now instead of waiting to see what happens

YouAndMeAreGoingToFallOut · 15/01/2016 08:38

To be honest ladies I'm in a bit of a state.

Everything I'm seeing on the Internet (including elsewhere on MN, and in the NICE guidelines) points to intervention of some sort (usually a stitch) if cervix is shorter than 2.5cm. Mine is 2.4cm, and I'm only 16 weeks. When I see the midwife on Tuesday I am definitely going to push for a rescan as soon as possible - I'm not at all happy with the prospect of just waiting to see what happens by 20 weeks.

Cheery1 · 15/01/2016 09:04

youandme - so sorry you're having such a stressful time. I definitely think talk to the midwife and maybe your GP to get a second opinion if you're really worried. I think sometimes the internet can be a dangerous place as everyone is different. Be helpful to talk it through with medical profs tho eh? You can't just be waiting and worrying, that can't be good for you or baby.

I would stay that my friend has had two healthy babies with a shortened cervix (post surgery for cervical cancer scare). Don't know if that offers any comfort. Sending hugs xxxx

Scase1firsttimemum · 15/01/2016 10:53

Ohh got a few scan date buddies then!! How excitingGrinGrin

With regards to 26th.. Does that mean midwives for appointments wont be there? I have my 16 week appt that day and I have to go to the doctors for it to see my midwife but will she be on strike too?

Scase1firsttimemum · 15/01/2016 11:20

Heres my bumpie.. Mainly bloated and its probably all the carbs I cant help but eat right now.. But yeah :L

14+3 taken just now

Hello!

New to the group / mumsnet i'm due 10th July so currently 14 weeks + 5 days Grin.

Had my scan last week and everything looked great! Sickness is wearing me down though can't stand it hoping it eases soon!

Kentnurse2015 · 15/01/2016 14:32

Hello! Another newbie here! I'm 12+4 with DC2. I have a little girl who has just turned 17 months. Wanted to wait for the scan before joining. My due date is 25th July and have the joy of vomiting every single day and also being up 3/4 times a night for a wee! Last pregnancy was exactly the same so I was expecting it but it's exhausting!! Lovely to read about you all!!

crazycatlady39 · 15/01/2016 14:33

Hey all, finally had my booking in appt and combined test scan today and am 13+4, due 18 July. Had a good 30 mins of scanning and everything seems normal, bloods due soon but we're going to start telling close family and friends now. So happy to be sharing the news! The midwife took a urine sample plus I had blood taken for her and the scan as well. I had become very nervous so was so happy to see things going according to plan. I have a bump which is carb based but my boyfriend said he can see a definite baby bump!

jemimahpuddleduck · 15/01/2016 15:31

Thanks Becks I think we are 1 day apart, I'm due 20 June, 17+4 today. I was also quite small with DD, there was always a definite bump but it stayed pretty compact right until the end really.

Lovely to see more scan pics this afternoon, also scase you have a very cute bump developing there Smile

pulpi · 15/01/2016 16:08

Told my boss today and he's very supportive. Also, I have 23 days of annual leave left! Babymoon!

13+1

Scase1firsttimemum · 15/01/2016 16:14

Ahh thank you Jemimah!
