Hi ladies,

I've been TTC2 for 1.5 years and I've just found out I'm pregnant Smile 1 day before Xmas eve! Best present ever! Anyone else celebrating a bfp this Christmas? I've already had to dodge chocolate mousse, champagne and Stilton...all worth it though!! Grin

Nope I wasn't on the Feb 2014 one. I've been on mn since 2014 but I only started looking at it after my dd was born and mostly lurked! I'm in Kent too! Smile

You're right pear positive thoughts. Fingernails is a new one on me!

Has everyone seen their gps yet or made first appointments? I haven't done anything yet I think I'm just waiting for January but maybe I should do something!

ohanami · 29/12/2015 21:58

Definitely with you on the positive thoughts - it's such a frustrating time though just waiting...

That's a coincidence foxes!

I've got a gp appointment next week to get the ball rolling. Things didn't go too smoothly last time round so need to get a consultant referral ticking over soonish.

Apologies, mc is a very real possibility for me given my age and I thought that it was a common concern at this stage, but will bow out and find a more appropriate thread to discuss anxiety.

Best of luck to all.

peardrop2 · 30/12/2015 04:57

Jessie - I'm so sorry! Don't go! On reflection it's actually me who should be keeping quiet and sitting in a corner! You're absolutely right and mc is a real thing for probably most of us on here! I'm 33 and I have a lot of close friends who have recently mc no2 at the same age so it's something that goes through my mind every time I take a visit to the loo! With my first pregnancy I was an absolute anxious wreck and I am desperately trying not to be that person again now that I've experienced pregnancy once. I want to have a much more positive approach and try desperately to enjoy each day now that I've come this far. I remember disappearing from threads last time until the 12 week wait was over and that's probably what I should be doing again because personally I find it quite upsetting to read about mc but that's for me to deal with and please all continue sharing your anxiety because that's what mn is for after all xx I hope you accept my apology Thanks

Foxes - in my area you see a midwife at 8 weeks and then she books you in for the 12 week scan. I haven't booked the midwife appointment yet. Feels ages away.

I get very anxious about mc was awful all through pregnancy last time hoping to get to 12 week scan this time and might try and relax a bit then. I've got a gp appointment tomorrow but only because this sickness is so bad again already. Thrown up twice so far this morning, meant to be taking ds swimming this morning... 😥

JessieMcJessie · 30/12/2015 10:27

Peardrops your apology is accepted and I appreciate your explanation. I really wasn't trying to be negative but, personally, I just don't deal with risk by closing my eyes to it. Posting about my own fears was really me looking for reassurance and positive advice from others. However I can see how it could just escalate everyone's anxiety.

It's clear from some other posts that there are plenty of other Mumsnetters who are looking for a place to concentrate on the positive too, and it's your thread, so I think I'll move on anyway. The great thing about MN is that there are places for everyone and we can all find our niche.

All the very best for a happy and healthy nine months and hopefully see you in "birth announcements" next August!

peardrop2 · 30/12/2015 10:56

Jessie - it's not my thread and of coars everyone is worried about mc and should share their emotion. I think mn isn't the place for me to be when I'm anxious already. Wishing you all so much luck in the next 9 months Thanks

Congratulations ladies! Can I join too? I had my BFP on Christmas day. Definitely the best present ever. Did 2 tests just to make sure!

According to the NHS website, my EDD is 3rd September. It will be our first :)

And don't worry Nevlet, I don't have any symptoms either. I am sure the sickness will come soon but, in the meantime, at least we can enjoy eating as normal?

Nevlet · 30/12/2015 15:39

Congratulations shopaholic!
I don't think I am as symptom free as I like to think - cried 4 times watching Cars (the kids film) and twice at Chalet Girl! What on earth!?

Yes I am eating beyond normal....anything in site!

shopaholic85 · 30/12/2015 16:09

Thank you! I'm the same on both the crying and the eating front! My MIL had Surprise Surprise on the other day and I was sobbing, whilst stuffing my face with Christmas goodies. At this rate, I'll be showing soon!

Are you feeling tired? I just want to sleep all the time!

Btw, I'm 31 and based in London but will be moving to Wiltshire in the summer.

Nevlet · 30/12/2015 16:18

I can't tell if I am extra tired my body clock always goes haywire in school holidays (teacher!) so will only tell really when we go back next week. Which I am dreading over the next couple of months... I am 25 based on the coast border between Suffolk and Essex!

shopaholic85 · 30/12/2015 16:35

I'm a teacher too! Not looking forward to the 4th...

Nevlet · 30/12/2015 16:38

Coincidence! We have a CPD day on the 4th which helps a tiny bit...What subject are you in?

shopaholic85 · 30/12/2015 17:27

No such luck for me, but do have a fairly light teaching day on the Monday back. I'm a deputy Head of English, so no pressure! What subject are you? Not a practical subject I hope.

Nevlet · 30/12/2015 17:34

I'm Maths/HLP coordinator ... Hopefully not outed myself on here! I have 4 lessons everyday and am moving classroom on monday- wish I had moved at the end of last year haha

shopaholic85 · 30/12/2015 17:40

Don't worry. I doubt the people we work with would stumble upon this thread; it is really only of interest to those due in September.

And isn't it great that we will be off for 6 weeks before baby is due?? I'm a little worried about managing workload and moving house whilst pregnant, so the 6 weeks off will be a godsend.

Nevlet · 30/12/2015 17:45

I know means matleave can start beginning of September and have the summer holiday paid still! I am quite worried about the workload generally at school... And when to tell them!

icklekid · 30/12/2015 18:00

Waves at nevlet and shopaholic fellow teacher here although primary! Also feel this baby was better timed school holiday wise where as ds1 was July so went on mat leave mid June! We've not got kids until Wednesday and as I work mon-wed can't really complain! Last time I didn't tell until after 12 week scan except to those who needed to know as I couldn't restrain children and those I worked closely with who guessed (but never said anything ) because I was being sick daily...

foxessocks · 30/12/2015 18:19

I work from home a few days a week and am self employed so need to keep working for as long as possible but a least I have flexibility if I'm feeling really tired or sick! However with a 2 year old there isn't much resting possible! Dd had me playing "mummy goes to bed" today though which is a great game where I just have to pretend to sleep until she shouts MORNING!

foxessocks · 30/12/2015 18:20

Tbh though I haven't been feeling too tired yet. Mostly I have been cleaning like crazy. The house has never been this tidy! I even tackled the spare room of doom yesterday.

sparklystars20 · 30/12/2015 18:26

Hello ickle , nevlet and shopaholic - fellow teacher here too! (Primary) As per previous post I'm now sooo relieved I'm going back part time next week as I definitely wouldn't have coped full time til summer and preggers! - woo hoo for being off for last 5 weeks of pregnancy!
I've been rubbish at the whole secret thing - only told mum (who spookily was told by a woman in the sea in Barbados on Xmas eve that I was preg - the day we found out!) and a couple of close colleagues as I'll need their support on the emotional journey that the next few weeks is going to be! Confused

Nevlet · 30/12/2015 18:27

So many teachers! We haven't told anyone yet as I am so scared of MC!

foxessocks · 30/12/2015 18:32

I'm feeling a little left out with all you teachers! I haven't told anyone yet either (apart from dh obviously!) We told our immediate family at 8 weeks last time because I had an early scan and also I couldn't eat much at all and it was just quite obvious something was up. I'm going to try and hold out for 12 weeks and first scan if I can. I just want it to be our secret for a while.

sparklystars20 · 30/12/2015 18:33

I'm super scared of mc too but decided I need people I can trust and turn to on this journey whatever happens...
Thanks trying to think positively Thanks
