Welcome Laura hope all a well Thanks
I can't remember who said what so
Boobs-well my right is slightly bigger but it always has been and I have 2 girls! As for the size, they go up each pregnancy! I was a D before my first, went up to an F in pregnancy then dropped to an E and stayed there. 2nd pregnancy I went to a G then dropped back to an F. So this one I expect I'll go up to an H and drop to a G! Tbh though I'm planning a massive diet after this baby as I will have had 2 in 2 years so want my figure back!

Scan date is the 25th Smilebooking appointment got messed up so is now on the 14th.

I'm 9+6 today and feeling ok just a bit sick and lethargic. Sickness is worse as the day wears on.

Right anyone who feels fatigued beyond what is normal take IRON! It has changed everything! Feeling so much better now

Jw35 · 05/01/2016 12:23

Oh yes and here's the food I can eat at the mo:

Marmite on toast
Pizza bread (tomato purée and melted cheese)
Fruit
Carrots (raw)
Greek yoghurt & honey
Ice lollies

I can drink weak squash and tropical fruit juice.

I absolutely can't stomach anything else I can think of! Sometimes I can eat peanut butter on toast but not always! Cooked food, cooked veg and meat make me sick! Cereal makes me sick, tea and coffee too!

Pipo1704 · 05/01/2016 12:24

Christine definitely not! Some days I've just fancied really plain tasting basic things.

prettyflowers111 · 05/01/2016 12:38

Hi all, finally dragged my behind to the gp to 'announce' my pregnancy to them. My doctor was lovely and she even went and grabbed a flu vac from the nurse and did it there and then for me to save me having to get another appointment. I'm feeling very far behind you guys, only 6+3! 13 more sleeps before my early scan so I'm nervous and excited for that! Still no real syptoms, sore boobs and a bit of a crampy tummy but that's all for now. Let's hope it stays like that so I can keep it under wraps from work until the end of the month at least :)

SharyBobbins · 05/01/2016 15:20

OMG just nearly has a panic attack!! Chatting away to a colleague who then casually drops in to conversation that his son is covered in chickenpox Shock Just checked the NHS website which said if you've already had them (which I have) "there's no need to worry about it". Phew!!

MrsSantaClause · 05/01/2016 15:26

Shady, my ds#1 got shingles last time I was pregnant! Had to stay away from him til it had gone! Dh had to take the time off work to look after him Wink

MrsSantaClause · 05/01/2016 15:26

Shary I mean! Damn autocorrect Grin

SharyBobbins · 05/01/2016 15:59

Oh no Mrs! Hope he made a quick recovery!
Just spoke to my mum (who doesn't know I'm pregnant) & casually mentioned it. She thinks I've had it (how can she not remember!). I do have what I think is a chicken pox scar on my stomach though so hopefully I have!

Biscuitswithtea · 05/01/2016 16:10

If you're not sure about your chickenpox immunity, and you come into contact with it, your midwife should be able to do a bloodtest to check for you. At least, that's what was offered to me last time. I only had 1 poc apparently when I had chickenpox so my immunity was always in question.

DS has since had it and I didn't get it so I assume I'm fine!

Am on day 2 of improved energy. Which is good as back to work tomorrow but trying not to worry about the alleviating symptoms!!

AlfieTheRailwayCat · 05/01/2016 16:55

fly I think it's the early morning shock making you feel ill as I've felt totally fine over the holidays in the mornings and nauseous at night but yesterday and today I felt absolutely floored with it. I think it's the getting up at 6am rather than 9am!

Anybody else started on nightly trips to the loo? I had to go today at 3am and then for the life of me could not drop back off. I hope that's not a sign of things to come!

My big right boob makes me team blue, I dreamt last I had a girl though so no idea!

Christinedonna · 05/01/2016 17:10

I may be playing the pregnancy card too soon here but if I feel sick and could just do with a cuddle and chilling, is it too much to ask for the OH to give the gym a rest for one night?

squigglepants · 05/01/2016 17:25

Had a trip to the GP this afternoon, spotting and cramps on one side. He has referred me to EPU for a scan tomorrow. This is definitely the most stressful pregnancy I have had early on, the other two gave me stress much further down the line.

MrsSantaClause · 05/01/2016 17:41

Alfie I've been going to the loo in the night since really early on, sometimes twice!

Had my booking appt today, am I the only person on the planet who actually quite liked having blood taken? I like seeing it coming out!

I mentioned about possibly wanting a home birth, she was quite excited as she said not many people want home births! Sounds like they wait until about 28 weeks to say if you're too high risk or not though, so will have to wait and see...

AlfieTheRailwayCat · 05/01/2016 17:44

I've been going just before bed and then just before I fall asleep after reading but last night was the first time I had to go in the night. I don't know where all this liquid is coming from?!

Jw35 · 05/01/2016 17:49

Hope everything is ok squiggle Thanks I'm not even peeing more often let alone going at night yet! Wait until your in the 3rd trimester!
Taking the piss leaving my 12 year old with my one year old while I go to the loo. Been hiding in the bathroom for 30 mins in my phone Blush bad mother!

FourForYouGlenCoco · 05/01/2016 17:50

Alfie yes to the being up in the night! It started really early with my last (MC) pg so thought I'd gotten away with it this time, but nope! If I don't get up in the night I wake up so desperate it's painful.
MrsSanta no I quite like it too! I've got veins like ropes though so no prodding and poking, they could prob chuck the needle at my arm like a dart and still get plenty of blood. I liked tattoo pain as well though so think I'm a bit weird Wink
And YAY for homebirths!! I won't go on but I had one with DD and would so, so recommend them if it's an option. Will def have another with this baby, all being well. I had such an incredible experience and absolutely loved giving birth.

AlfieTheRailwayCat · 05/01/2016 17:59

four was that for your first baby? Did you have much trouble convincing them? I know we have the right to whatever we choose but I'm worried I'm going to come up against opposition. But with my anxiety and phobia of vomit I don't feel comfortable in hospitals and know I would have a better labour at home.

SharyBobbins · 05/01/2016 18:54

Hope everything is okay Squiggle.

I called my GP surgery as I don't have a midwife yet. The doctor called back and asked me to come in for a blood test tomorrow morning to see if I have the antibody for chicken pox. It's not on my records that I've had them before but I'm not sure my mum would have taken me to the doctors as she said earlier if I did have them it was only a mild case from what she can recall...but then she wasn't sure if it was me or my brother!

Where I work it's likely that I could be put in the same situation again so he thought the test was for best. Unfortunately I'm not someone who likes having bloods taken! At first (before he found out where I worked) he asked me to find out from my colleague if he's had it before. At least now I'm having the test I won't need to ask him as I've not even told my parents yet! Avoiding telling work for as long as possible!

FourForYouGlenCoco · 05/01/2016 19:05

Alfie yes it was, I was going back and forth on the idea and then at 20 weeks met up with my friends and their newborn - she had been in latent labour for 3 days and still had a homebirth, and I figured if she could do it, I could too! So I told my mw at 25ish weeks that I wanted a homebirth. She refused to even discuss it or engage with me about it til I was 36 weeks and still low risk - literally every time I tried to bring it up before then it was "let's wait and see what happens". Because I am a stubborn cow my midwife's lack of enthusiasm made me more determined to do it so I could show her Grin so I did and my labour was perfect. Luckily I had different midwives in labour who were amazing. I was actually really cross with how little support I got from my usual mw, I pushed for my birth by myself the whole time! It was so worth it though.

FourForYouGlenCoco · 05/01/2016 19:06

squiggle sorry, meant to say earlier - good luck for tomorrow! How far along are you now? Hopefully all this early stress means a lovely smooth pregnancy for the remainder Smile

Mummystar123 · 05/01/2016 19:41

I have a scan tomorrow- I am so nervous! I think I'm six weeks but been spotting loads, what shall I expect to see, never had a scan this early before.

Christinedonna · 05/01/2016 19:45

I saw a yolk sac at 6 weeks..and the baby and a heartbeat at 7

Flybynight1 · 05/01/2016 19:54

pea and pipo hope you guys survived your day ok!!! The nausea subsided by the time I had my first tea of the day (I literally only drink tea in work-never at home or anywhere else!) although it's back again now. pea no I'm in Aberdeenshire, luckily we've not been affected directly but friends have-it's been awful. Have you been affected directly?

Alfie I do suspect the early morning was to blame! I woke up at 6:15 and was soooo hungry, I had toast at like 7am and I think it was just too much for my stomach, who hasn't normally been seeing food before 11am the last 2 weeks! Got some shred dies for breakfast tomorrow so hopefully it'll be nice and bland for ol' stomach to handle. But YES on the weeing-although it's been happening to me for weeks now-some nights I am up about 4 times. It's fine enough when you can lie in but during the working week it is a PAIN! The idea is to not drink too much before bed, but that's easier said than done (also I'm thirsty through the night).

Hope you're all OK squiggle fingers crossed Smile

What's the deal with home births and it being your first? Is that a definite no-go? My mw has ticked CMU in my notes-she never even asked me if I had an opinion...

lily hope your scan letter comes through in the next few days! But I think it's not unreasonable to chase them up either

Well that's the last time I am wearing my normal work trousers. I have spent the day in absolutely uncomfortable hell! They were tight when I out them on this morning but by this afternoon, my bloated belly is back and all I could do was head to the toilet for regular 'breathing' breaks for a bit of light relief. Never again. But when I got home my orders of maternity clothes have arrived Smile I may be jumping he gun a bit but mother care and new look have some decent sales which I couldn't resist so I have a shed load of new clothes! Some of them I can start wearing now, most are spring/ summer wear, but I am going to hold off the jeans with the special bump cover, although they are sooooo comfy! I now know how Joey felt with his special turkey trousers in FRIENDS!

fly work wasn't too bad actually. Hardest part was holding back on the snacking so that my colleagues didn't guess! Nearly let the cat out of the bag though by mentioning that I am no longer doing the triathlon in early September that i previously told them about. Got a few confused looks and had to quickly make up a reason for why I have pulled out!

My house is dry thankfully but we were totally trapped on Boxing Day cos all the roads around us were closed due to flooding.

Very interesting to hear about those of you considering a home birth for your first baby. I'm a first timer but had assumed it wasn't an option, now wondering if I should reconsider? I'm certainly in the less-interventions camp and my preference would otherwise be for a midwife led birth centre

FourForYouGlenCoco · 05/01/2016 20:32

It is definitely, definitely an option to home birth your first baby. Please don't let any crappy midwives tell you it isn't because they will be misleading, if not outright lying to you. They can make recommendations but at the end of the day it is YOUR CHOICE where and how you give birth, whether it be in your lounge, in a hospital bed, or in theatre.
As far as I know, the reason they are a bit iffy about homebirths for first babies is that at that point birth is an 'unknown quantity' for the mother. Someone on their second or subsequent baby who has already had a normal vaginal birth has 'proved' themselves, if that makes sense. But that is still NOT a good enough reason (in my opinion) to suggest that FTMs should avoid homebirth, given that it is proven to be safer/as safe as hospital birth for low risk women.
Obviously there are things to take into account - distance from hospital, things like that. I knew when I had DD that worst-case scenario, I was 10 mins from hospital by ambulance, 20 by car, and it takes that long to prep for an emergency section anyway - so I had nothing to lose by at least trying at home. The way I see it is, provided you're not hours from hospital or anything like that, maternity units will generally tell you to stay at home for as long as possible anyway, so why not stay there and see how you get on?
I can also vouch 100% for the fact that the standard and quality of care is better at a homebirth than a hospital birth. Hospital midwives are insanely overstretched and will be in and out, doing other things even while they're in the room, and often as not relying on a CTG rather than listening to the woman and reading her cues. Conversely, there has to be 2 midwives at a homebirth who are yours and only yours - they might come and go in the early stages, but once they're there, they're there for the duration and you are their sole focus. They will also come with you even if you do transfer into hospital.
I could honestly go on and on (and on!) about this - my birth experience and then hearing about other people's after I had DD was a massive part of why I went into midwifery (no longer in it!) and the subject of pregnancy & birth choices is really close to my heart.
I'm not pushing anything on anyone - some people LOVE their epidurals, absolutely swear by them, and that works for them, and that's amazing!! But it's really important that they have the CHOICE.
I will stop now as this is an essay already!!!
