Glad your out of hospital Lily! That fab!

Iron seems to be working! Huzzah! Smile

hgleslie89 · 03/01/2016 15:42

I think I spotted a comment about this a while back, but does anyone have any experience buying maternity bras? I'm pretty big to begin with (32FF), so think my options may be limited Sad

Christinedonna · 03/01/2016 16:18

I got my 36E from primark and it was so comfy!!

AlfieTheRailwayCat · 03/01/2016 16:24

Wah, I'm pretending I don't go back to work tomorrow. Although yesterday I had to go into town and buy some trousers in a bigger size to hide my massive bloated stomach. It'll be carefully arranged scarves until the end of Jan I think!
I'm still in my normal bras but they are becoming a little more uncomfortable.
Any other tips for surviving work from those who've done it before? I'm most stressed about not being able to eat all the time as I'm a teacher.

Flybynight1 · 03/01/2016 16:53

Alfie isn't is a bank holiday for you tomorrow? I know what you mean about the eating... I work in a open plan office and eating at your desk is frowned upon, so I am anticipating that between the frequent loo breaks and trips to the kitchen for snacks, my manager is going to notice that I haven't spent much time at my desk!!

So, when we go back to work it's appraisal time and making work plans for the year ahead. Hopefully I'll only be spending half a year in work. Do I mention this to my manager at my appraisal (he's got kids, is family friendly) at the risk of upsetting my friends at work (wasn't planning on telling anyone before the 13 week 'safety net') or do I go along with planning and agreeing to work post-August at the risk of upsetting him when a few weeks later I announce my pregnancy... It's a fairly small department, we're quite close knit and very much understaffed (thanks low oil price!).

hgleslie I'm currently living out of 2 sports bras in rotation but am getting close to outgrowing those. I think that I will try and make a trip to M&S or Debs and try some on as I'm definitely not a 34E anymore-your ribs will expand and your cup size so it would be worth either getting measured (I'm too scared to!) or just grabbing a load of different sized and seeing what works! I believe it is recommended to stop wearing underwired bras, so I think the option I will end up going with is sports bras as the normal non-underwired ones just won't provide enough support (although they are pretty rock hard just now!! Haha)

Glad you made your escape lily and glad you're feeling a lot better!! Are you taking anything going forward? I hope that's you on the path to second trimester wonderfulness!!!

Jw glad you're feeling better too! Maybe a nice big (well cooked) steak to celebrate..?? Grin

AlfieTheRailwayCat · 03/01/2016 17:35

fly it's an inservice day for me tomorrow so I can snack all day but after that it's back to pupils wanting to be taught things! The cheek of it all. I'm going to tell my department tomorrow too, I have a midwife appointment the following week in school time so I want to let him know so it's not a problem to get out. It hard to decide in your position but I wouldn't worry about upsetting people - it's your news to share with people when you see fit. It's hard to decide what's best though.

lily I'm glad you are out and hopefully feeling better! Did they put you on anything? Hope you are able to eat a good dinner tonight.

quitecrunchy · 03/01/2016 17:37

Glad to hear you're feeling yourself again lily!

Flybynight1 · 03/01/2016 17:51

Alfie I've got my blood/urine appt the week after too-mines the 12th. Good point re telling someone due to needing the time off actually, didn't think of that. I am so tempted to go for another scan! I'm a scanaholic!!! Haha there's another place in Aberdeen who do them for £40... Have you had your 12 week scan appt letter yet?

OP posts:
FourForYouGlenCoco · 03/01/2016 18:21

Snap fly my 1st appt is the 12th too! We can compare notes afterwards Grin I can't bloody wait now, here you don't get your scan date til after first mw appt and I'm sooo ready to have it to look forward to! Am also very tempted by a private scan - even though I'm 10 weeks and have had 2 already so clearly just being greedy.
lily so glad you're feeling human again, hopefully it's lasted through today (and beyond of course)! And jw that you're feeling better too, good news all round.

Wrt telling work I would just do what you feel comfortable with. Alfie I worked in a school when I was pg with DD (just a TA though) and told the class teacher quite early on - just after Xmas hols in fact (she was an August baby too). I was in SEN so a bit different but it meant people cut me a bit of slack if I needed to hide in the cupboard with a handful of breadsticks, have a few mins sit down during PE, etc etc. Totally personal choice of course but it might make these early stages a bit easier for you.
Nausea ramped up here again today, am 10+2 and feeling worse than ever! Have been a total bitch to poor DH as well.
Was thinking earlier it's funny how quickly your priorities change when pg - I'd give quite a lot right now for a satisfactory poo and a meal that doesn't make me feel sick Confused

SharyBobbins · 03/01/2016 18:57

Glad you're feeling better Lily Smile

So...erm...is there anyone on this thread who isn't really experiencing pregnancy symptoms still or is that just me?

I don't want morning sickness, I really don't, but other than sore boobs (which aren't really that sore now) and a bit of cramping I'm not really feeling...anything Blush. It's making me anxious...

LeoLemur · 03/01/2016 19:10

I'm not experiencing any symptoms Shary except occasional cramping. Nothing boob-wise. But judging by how tough it is for those experiencing symptoms, I'm pushing aside doubts and enjoying it - it would be bad not to for those struggling - ref four dreaming of a meal without feeling sick. We're lucky but you never know- it may come to us too yet!!

racheljayne777 · 03/01/2016 19:17

Hi everyone, apart from introducing myself I've been lurking for a while, so hello!!
So sorry for all of you having issues, must be awful waiting for those scans, best of luck. Been lurking as I've got HG again (second time round) so doing much at all is a struggle! Lily, I'm so glad they were able to sort you out in hospital Smile
What is everyone else managing to eat? Any tips are welcome!!

SharyBobbins · 03/01/2016 19:21

I know Leo I felt awful posting that message when there are so many others on here who have been so poorly. Just needed a little reassurance I think. I'm going to try and follow your lead and push aside the doubts!

Pipo1704 · 03/01/2016 19:37

Lily glad you're feeling better :)

Ditto Rachaeljayne how are you all eating? I'm really off food the last few days. Starving but off food! Still eating bits like pastas / home smoothies but it's an effort. Fancying coco pops at the min or chips! Haha.

I hope all of you manage who are teachers to get your snacks in.

Small chested here so no bra issues (yet!!) but very very sore and definitely growing Grin Hmm

Hubbys just gone back to work (Christmas leave works away) so I'm an extra grump tonight !

Pipo1704 · 03/01/2016 19:38

Shary I would try not to worry & just enjoy feeling ok while you can :)

Is anyone else's skin awful!?! Came out in spots, thought you weren't meant to glow Wink

MrsSantaClause · 03/01/2016 19:50

Pleased you're out lily! I wonder if I'm a bit anaemia, I'm so breathless and tired and get quite dizzy when I stand up/walk upstairs. 1st mw appt on tues, so will discuss with the mw.

Jw35 · 03/01/2016 19:57

Fly no meat! I can't face anything like steak lol. Feeling sick after a jacket potato how is that possible? Shary how far are you? I didn't suffer until 6+ weeks but everyone's different (lucky you)! GlenCo you having poo problems? After my last pregnancy I could tell you stories that would make your eyes water! Eat loads of fruit! Constipation is the worst! Can't believe there are still new people joining! Stop lurking and join in the fun haha! Welcome!

Trying to imagine ironing a basket of washing..

LeoLemur · 03/01/2016 20:04

So glad you're feeling better and are out lily and have moved up the calorific scale from ice cubes haha! Welcome rachel!

Yeah pipo I've got a couple of aggressive spots on my forehead - I actually thought I'd banged my head and forgotten at first it was so tender lol.

I'm on the spatone as my iron stores were low before I even got pg, hoping it'll be enough as I hate the iron tablets.

Pipo1704 · 03/01/2016 20:12

Mrssanta I keep going dizzy it's more when I've been lying down & get up quick. Defo preg related as never happened before, just need to be more aware when I get up.

QuCee78 · 03/01/2016 20:15

I'm usually into spicy foods, curries, pasta etc but the thought of it turns my stomach atm, so living off jacket potatoes, beans on toast, actually managed some fruit today! I struggle with drinks as usually like a beer in the evening, don't mind water but only so much you can drink!! Any tips for nice soft drinks, that aren't too sweet?

Anyone else having the odd bit of brown stringy mucus when they wipe? Assuming it's normal? Confused

SharyBobbins · 03/01/2016 20:16

7+3 JW (going off conception date not lmp).

My skin was awful when ttc but it's actually much better since my BFP!

racheljayne777 · 03/01/2016 20:26

Shary totally understand you worrying, my SIL was exactly the same, no symptoms are a blessing and a curse! Pipo- coco pops have just gone on my shopping list!! Good shout.
Haven't had spots, just really dry skin.

PickleBot · 03/01/2016 20:32

My skin is awful, loads of zits all over my chin. Worse than when I was a teen!

I'm 9+3 today and my symptoms have dropped off a lot, not really much feeling sick or sore boobs anymore.

bras I went to bravissimo to get mine. I'm normally a 38E I was up to a 40FF by week 3! The measuring lady said I didn't need a he extra back room yet, but by going up a back size and wearing it on the tightest hook you can usually get away with the same bra all the way through as you jare st let it out as your ribs spread out.

lilygirl81 · 03/01/2016 20:35

QuCee I've found the J2O spritzer drinks to be not overly sweet, you get them beside the appletiser etc.

I've managed so much food today I'm delighted, though am in bed already. I'm now taking an anti-emetic every 2 hours so really could sleep forever as I alternate between 2 (Stemitil & ondansetron). Seeing my GP on Thursday so will discuss cutting down on them with him, as well as the dreaded conversation about coming off my morphine for my pre-pregnancy chronic pain.

For those looking for bras, it's a real struggle. I'm sadly busting out of my 38HH so think I'll need some sort of industrial built things!! Bravissimo are good but expensive and not a huge soft cup range, mothercare are comfy but they seem to have a supply issue with larger cups just now, debenhams are a really odd fit, it's the Mirriam Stoppard brand I got, seem to fit ok, but the back is practically up between my shoulder blades so actually not that good.
