Hello everyone - Just starting a new thread for this... Will send a message in a mo.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
catstar · 29/01/2007 10:51

Thanks Twoplusone. Bit worried about a "pin cushion" comment made earlier, but I expect you get used to having needles stuck in you - and worse!!!!

twoplusone · 29/01/2007 11:15

They will also do bloods, I should think.

I had my bloods taken this morning for the triple test.

Myfairone · 29/01/2007 11:37

Hi all,

I had the weekend away from the pc and have missed tons on here!

Glad to hear that your DD is better Typhoonsmum and that all those that were without heating now have oil etc. Luckily the weather seems to be a little milder today so maybe abgirl can remove a layer!

Chooster- You are not being neurotic or unreasonable. My guess is that your DH got it into his head that he wanted to go and deep down he knows that he is being unreasonable (which is the reason why he hasn't discussed it with you!!!!)....
Typhoonsmum - it seems that your DP has also reacted like a spoilt child over your lack of 'baby bouncing'....of course you have done the right thing by refraining as you had a bleed...

My DH cannot understand why I don't want him to go to a 3 day concert around the due date. His comment is that this will be the 'last possible opportunity he will ever get to go'! I have no idea why he feels the need for such dramatics!!!!

I guess that we have to remember that our men do not know what its like to be pregnant or how to deal with hormones...that of course is no excuse for the 'spoilt brat' unreasonable behaviour.

How is everyone feeling today? I am a little sickie again and feel exhausted but nothing I cant handle!

Have a great day all
x

abgirl · 29/01/2007 13:16

Myfairone, am back at work today and it seems positively tropical! Have been removing layers all morning while my colleagues complain about how cold it is!

abgirl · 29/01/2007 13:24

To all who've been having problems with DHs - my DH was out for a 'last night' with his rugby pals when I was 29 weeks pregnant with DS and objected to being hauled out of the pub (and came out eating pizza) so I could be checked out at the hospital - I got told I was 'making a fuss' - DH started to take things seriously when the doc said I'd be staying in for the night and he was offered coffee by one of the midwives. DS arrived less than 48hrs later, this time DH's already turned down a stag do and a golfing weekend. Actually wouldn't mind him being away in this country before 35w as long as there was a firm plan of how he would get back in an emergency - wouldn't be happy about him going abroad though!

Myfairone · 29/01/2007 13:31

Abgirl - that is so funny! you are tough as old boots now and could probably survive out in the wilds! hehehehehee...
You are finishing up soon anyway arnt you?

All I can say is that its a damn good job that these men are not capable of having babies! But imagine the fun we could have if they could! Oh how I would laugh!

I just went to 3 different stores trying to find something for lunch and ended up with something I didnt enjoy! The sickness and nausea have eased up but been replaced with a real inability to know what I want!

Have a great afternoon everyone

Myfairone · 29/01/2007 13:37

Anyone mind if we discuss knickers for a minute?

I usually wear g string style and have found that they are starting to ride down at the front now that my bump has started to grow. Does this mean I have to resort to 'big pants'?

How is everyone else coping in the underwear department?

typhoonsmum · 29/01/2007 13:39

DP has been at the hospital with his dad since 1am this morning. It is a long story but they don't think he will make it thru the day. Makes the argument yesterday stupid and pathetic. Have took the week off work to help MIL and DP. (walking and feeding the dog, which seems to be bothering MIL a lot)
Sorry to put a downer on everyone. May not be on for a while.

justbeme · 29/01/2007 13:56

So sorry to hear that Typhoonsmum - Lets hope you can all help each other out through this difficult time - it does put things into perspective doesnt it?

mmm - getting all emotional just thinking about it...

justbeme · 29/01/2007 13:58

So to stop my hormones getting the better me , I'll reply to the Knickers debate!
im afraid i gave up wearing G Strings once I found out I was pregnant - and do you know - I dont miss them now!!
Got some nice ones in TKMaxx Clearance - cheaper than Primark and good makes!

Miaou · 29/01/2007 14:03

typhoonsmum - (((hugs))) - will be thinking of you

Re knickers - when I was pg with ds I bought some under-the-bump ones from Mothercare online and couldn't believe just how much more comfortable they are! (I think you can get g-string versions too)

Jennster · 29/01/2007 14:05

Catstar don't worry about my pincushion comment. I was being facetious. It's one needle and about 6 vials of blood, so only one prick.

Myfairone. Don't you know g-strings are so last season darling. It's all about boy shorts now sweetie. And what's more you don't have to worry about your bikini line. M&S do some good low rise shorts that look quite funky (but in nice comfortable hygienic cotton).

twoplusone · 29/01/2007 14:32

Myfaione- I wear maternity thongs from Next as I hate the htought of wearing full knickers (although them or shorts will have to be used after...i do know some one who tried fitting a maternity pad to ther Thong after having her DS, much to the midwives delight they [i//ed themselves laughing at her...

Typhoonsmum-[[[[[[hugs]]]]]] you know where we are if you need sme one for you.

On DH in pg when I was expecting DS it was the Euro cup, the week I was due he said can I go and watch the match at the pub, I said fine but please only have a few drinks incase anything happens ( Iwas 39+5days) ..... Well he came backl from the pub.his mate carrying him as he couldnt walk or talk I was fuming.... Luckily we were staying at mums.. so if anything had of happened she was there for me, but itold him next day oif anything had happened i was going to tell security not to let you in at all even after the birth.... Hi sreply
"I am in touch with my son and I knew he wasnt coming, if he had told me he was I wouldnt have gone out!!!!!!!!!!!!" WTF... LOL now though..

Typhoonsmum - I am so sorry to hear about your DP's Dad. Sending you lots of love and hugs. You know where we are if you need a hug!

Okay, back to the knicker debate...I have to admit that I bought some g string panty liners but have had endless amounts of trouble with them! Won't go into details but it involves a very sticky butt!

So looks like the g's have to go (Jennster, I am still laughing out loud at your 'how last season g's are!!!)

Twoplusone - So glad to hear your DH was in touch with his son! men! puh!

And Kyte, sounds like your DH knows how to behave! excellent training

Myfairone · 29/01/2007 16:36

Kyte - I don't think that sounds smug at all. It just proves that he is an understanding and considerate person who is taking his role as a Dad seriously. Thats not to say that the other DH's are not taking it seriously, its just that sometimes they forget!
I'm pleased you caught yourself a good one Kyte! And a great way to get your bathroom's painted!

I just had a call from a midwife wanting to make an appointment to come round to my house to discuss my history and 'go over stuff'! She's coming on Saturday! I can't say I was expecting this and am rather surprised that they work at the weekends...DOH! silly me, babies are born at any time!

justbeme · 29/01/2007 17:13

can i ask

  1. Am I the only one to have not heart littles ones heartbeat?
  2. Am I the only one to not have regular Midwife appointments? Saw mine at 14 week booking in and then not again until 20th week Scan. Then because im being seen only at the hospital at the moment (not at Gps) it probably wont be the same one.
earlyriser · 29/01/2007 18:53

Sorry to hear about all your probs with DHs. My DP was hopeless when my dd was born, he just didn't know what to do and i expected him to mind read. Turns out he just wanted to be told in easy to understand instructions exactly what i wanted him to do. I was more than happy to oblige He has been great ever since.
I had my 16 MW appointment today, it was a student midwife taking my bloods and it took her 5 mins of prodding to get the blood out of me . Just as well i was lying down at the time. i suppose we all have to learn somehow. Got to hear baby's heartbeat , forgotten just how fast it goes! so that made me forget all about the needle.

Chooster · 29/01/2007 19:29

Hi all - Thanks for the words of encouragement ladies and sorry for those who are experiencing DH / DP issues. After a ridiculous (almost laughable) round of him apologising (and me not liking the way he said sorry ) and then me apologising and him not thinking I was sincere - we finally made up... Aaah. I've got to say he really is a lovely DH and he is well and truly back in my good books. I dont think he'll end up going to Copenhagen, mainly because he would be too scared to bring it up again!

Typhoonsmum - I hope your DP is coping. It must be an awful time for him - and you all.

Catstar - wow, a 10 day mountain biking holiday in August? And he was surprised you didn't want him to go? Men eh...

Kyte - Your DH sounds lovely and it sounds like he'll be a really hands on Dad - Hopefully you'll get some much needed sleep once Little Kyte is here.

Justbeme - I haven't heard the baby's heartbeat either and have only had my booking appt so far with MW. I have another appt on Thursday but thats one I made myslef to get my bloods taken for triple test.

Re: pants, I can't wear my g-strings anymore - I just find them too uncomfortable - so I've gone big pants

Hope you are all doing well...

MelissaM · 29/01/2007 19:35

Typhoonsmum - so sorry to hear about dp's dad. Thinking of you all.

Chooster - I would be p'd off with dh too in your position, for not discussing it mainly rather than he was going. Definitely something in the air though as dh & I have been bickering all weekend - apparently I am being snappy

re knicker debate - I bought some underbump knickers and they are hideous - really saggy at the back. I can't bare the thought of over bump ones (yuck). I normally wear g-strings too, so have just bought a size bigger hipster ones, so that they fit under my bump. I'm also wearing some of the shorts too, which are really comfy, but you have to be careful with some of them as they roll down and up!!!!!

Catstar - hope your appointment went well today.

justbeme - I am sure you will get to hear the lo's heartbeat soon. Isn't your next scan in a couple of wks? My midwife app's aren't as frequent as I was told they would be. last one was at 15 wks, & next is at 25wks. I haven't seen same mw either.

earlyriser - ouch!

MelissaM · 29/01/2007 19:36

chooster - glad you and dh sorted things out

Cakehead · 29/01/2007 19:39

EEEk! I've just weighed myself and I've put on 1 stone four pounds already. Am not a weight-obsessed person at all (in fact, had to dig the scales out from a dusty boiler cupboard) but slightly alarmred now. Think I only put on 2 stone with DD and am well on the way to topping that at this rate.

Anyone else gaining rapidly?

lynnec · 29/01/2007 20:10

Typhoonsmum.thinking of you x
Ladies as for the pants debate, please dont tell me i'll have to wear granny pants the thought of this is a no no, im going for the the bigger size in the thong, the thought of the V.P.L is a def no,no for me, ive never wore these granny pants, i know i'll have to after the birth (thats enough)

I hope you are all well and got things sorted with dh,mines decided he'd go to New York for a long weekend in April with some friends since this would be his last holiday,
when i turned round and said me and ds would just settle for Lanzarote on our own he soon changed his mind

Hope you are all having a nice week!

lynnec · 29/01/2007 20:16

Justbeme, i have heard heartbeat, but will only see mw once in the 38/40weeks of pg, saw her for 12 week scan after that i see my gp the rest of my pg, although im not happy about this so i am looking into this as i have been told this is the nhs just trying to save money, so taking this further, as i have prev mc and not prepared to accept one scan whilst other mums to be can get 2-3, sorry for moaning, just that i need some questions answered about the birth etc and dont want to get answers the day before my edd which is my next app with mw.
