MyFairOne - Are you me!!! Lemonade, I should have taken out shares in Schweppes. Can not stop drinking the stuff, I think the fizzyness helps nausea. And lemon is just a good flavour at the mo anyway.

I have stopped trying to drink so much in the evening too, in hope that I last a bit longer without needing to wee. I think my pelvic floor muscles are pretty useless having had two babies already, god knows what it will be like after number three. Perhaps I will be able to do an advert for Tena Lady!!

FirstStar - The dreams are weird aren't they, I think they cause me to wake up, usually because they are so bizarre.

xx

Once I go to sleep on anight i dont wake until ds does normally between 5.30 and 6am, If he isnt awake by 6.30 7ish I generally have to get up then to go for a wee, I am drinking squash like there is no tommorrow, I am going through nearly a litre fo squah a day, dont even know how much water that will be.....
If I could I could quite easily fall back to sleep, normally have a doze on the sofa when dd gets up at 7.30 till 8am.. she really is a good girl for me..

Well of to walk the dog now... we are going to get very very wet....lol..

Hi everyone, just gatecrashing from the June thread to invite anyone who's interested to join the all-new, cross-thread ante-natal fitness club. Quick intro:

Some of us on the June thread wanted to get together and give each other some support and motivation for a bit of exercise in pregnancy, and, not wanting to disturb others on our thread who just wanted to chill out in peace, thanks, thought it'd be a good idea to set up a new thread for everyone on the ante-natal threads, all welcome.

We're not talking marathon training or anything here, but it would be great to have a place where we could share our experiences of exercise in all stages of pregnancy, swap tips and links, and gently motivate each other when we might be flagging a bit. I for one am in serious need of it, having spent xmas doing nothing more strenuous than chewing on quality streets.

So, who's up for it? Step right this way!

chooster- how did the scan go..

I have just booked dd flight home for half term so she can go and see her dad I hate her going away.. especially as he doesnt make the effort to come and see her..... he makes me [mad] sometimes.. never mind she is happy and that is what counts..

weddingcake · 10/01/2007 19:47

Evening all!

Bring on the lemonade...I'm so addicted that I start getting nervous once there's less than a litre in the house. Thank god for the sainsbury's local 3 minutes away!

Am in awe of all these people with good exercise intentions, I'm finding that just a normal day feels like a workout at the moment but I'm hoping once that mythical 'blooming' phase I keep reading about hits then maybe I'll feel differently.

I did contemplate cancelling my gym memebership until it was pointed out to me that it has a creche which might be useful post birth. I suspect the friend who pointed this out envisages me working hard to get back my pre baby figure (although even that could've done with being a good 20lbs less!) but in my head I'm thinking of maybe a baby free hour while I sit in the spa followed by a nice hot chocolate in the cafe reading the paper in peace....

Anyway, am off to see if there's any food my ms can cope with this evening...we live in hope!

Hope everyone's scans are going ok...and the haircut myfairone! xx

I have an non pregnancy related question.

The other day a company called Choose Travel phoned me and told me I had won a seven day holiday for two to a european destination.( I filled in a form from one of those market researchers on the high street and it stems from that) I was sceptical and didn't think much of it. DP and I would love a paid holiday but you don't just get given them. Anyway i told my MIL and she said her friend had lost about £50 due to a holiday offer so I thought no more of it.
The thing is they keep phoning asking me to phone and accept the holiday. I've asked them what the catch is and they don't seem to have one.
Has anyone else heard of these people and what are their experiences of them.
I was going to ignore them but DP wants me to enquire further as if we really have won a holiday I'd be an idiot to ignore it.

marchbunny · 10/01/2007 20:26

Personally I would err on the side of caution, in my opinion you don't get something for nothing.

In my dim and distant memory, I remember taking a few phone calls saying I had won a holiday. Obviously, I looked into it further and to accept the holiday my husband and I would have had to attend and hours meeting along with all the other 'lucky' people about the chance to buy into time share, with 'no obligation' of course. All sounded a bit dodgy to me, and there would probably have been a hard sell.

I would not turn it down straight away as it may quite legit and I would hate to miss out on a freebie holiday, but definitely look into to it further.

Just my opinion, but hope it helps.

abgirl · 10/01/2007 20:31

Typhoonsmum, sounds like a classic timeshare type thing. You normally can get a cheap holiday but you have to agree to view properties, and then extra charges are made for taxes, administration, flight charges etc. Would be very suspicious of any company you can't find on the internet and would ask for their ABTA number next time they ring.

Miaou · 10/01/2007 20:32

Hi everyone - well I had my scan today and all is fine. Best news of all for me is that the consultant is happy for me to deliver at my local hospital rather than going up to the city hospital (40 miles away as opposed to 80 miles away!). There was a query over whether or not I would have to go up to the main hospital as I had a "retained placenta" when ds was born (technically not a retained one as it didn't need surgically removing, but I still had to go from the local to the main hospital just in case there were further complications). Anyway the consultant has said as long as I'm happy to have a managed third stage rather than physiological (which I am), then he is fine with that. I also saw one of the midwives who I saw when pg with ds - she was thrilled to see me back again!!

The radiographer - also a lovely chap - gave us four pics of the baby. It was lovely to watch its little arms and legs waving about. The dds were thrilled to see the pictures - it has suddenly made it me more real to them I think!

JenumGeranium - hello and welcome to the July club! I think I knitted you a bear last year didn't I? (Hope he's still behaving himself )

typhoonsmum · 10/01/2007 20:37

Good idea abgirl I never thought of that. The ABTA number. If they are genuine then they must have one of them. I have found a website for them but it is very basic. Here\link[http://www.choose-travel.co.uk]

If you are have to go and see properties how can they prove you went.

twoplusone · 10/01/2007 20:39

typhoonsmum- I would be the same as you abit wary.. no advice really sorry..

Miaou- Glad the scan went well and you were told you could have db in the nearest hospital.. It does make it all so real..

I am looking forward to my 16week check on the 29th Jan so I can hear db heart beat.. then I will only have 3weeks till my scan on the 20th Feb.. and inbetween that DH WILL BE HOME YEAHHHHH ..

MissusC · 10/01/2007 21:15

Right, that's it - there's no way I can leave the house again for the remainder of this pregnancy... too much goes on with you lot whilst I'm away and it takes me AGES to catch up with it all! Now I can't remember what I first read about, what I read in between and what twoplusone said in her very last post... I do remember a newbie - jenumgeranium, so welcome to you - something about lemonade and chocolate and waking up to pee in the night. Oh the waking up in the night thing to pee - guilty as charged, I'm so bored of it (although my Mum told me, quite wisely I thought, that the reason your body is built so that the baby rests on your bladder is that then you get used to only-being-half-awake-but-able-to-function for when the baby arrives and destroys your nights!) Wise words indeed.... My wise words/painful discovery is that it teaches you to move the wrought-iron doorstopper right under the bed so that you don't ram your foot into it at two thrity in the morning and have to hop around the room, holding your throbbing toes, cursing hard and trying not to wake your DH up. You only do that once, I can tell you. I am now practised in clearing the path to the loo! Bless him though, my poor DH is all of a fluster... he's always been good at putting the seat down on the loo - only minor lapses now and then - so I thought I'd introduce putting the lid down too. He just started getting it about two weeks ago which is very impressive I think. However... I have now sat down in the dark twice or more, practically already peeing when I hit the loo...ONLY TO FIND THE FREAKING LID DOWN!!! Yikes it's cold when your bottom hits it and yikes it's nearly been wee'd on more than once!!! Oh I tell you, we get some classic silent movie type night-time comedy in this house!

Jennster · 10/01/2007 21:54

Hi Jennum, I'm Jenn not Jenny. Welcome and hope you get over your migraines. I got one on Friday. I didn't get the headache bit, just the aura, but then I went straight home to bed and slept 3 hours straight, just 2 hours after getting up. It's def. a hormonal thing with me. Last migraine I got was last pregnancy, and all the times before when I was taking the pill with Oestrogen in. Swiched to a Progesterone only one and didn't get one again.

Firststar thanks for that link to the pelvic floor exercise thing. It doesn't mention the accessory muscles you need to exercise too. (Don't ask me what they are called) Imagine having to walk around with your tummy pulled in all day, well it helps if you pull it in before doing your pelvic floors. The muscles really really low just above the pubis.

I cut my toe last night on the way to the loo in the dark.....

twoplusone · 11/01/2007 07:35

missusc- lol..at your comedy moments, hope your toe is ok though..

My big mouth yesterday!!, I joined the midnight weers last night...at 1.30am I it was like Niagra falls!!! lol...
DS slept ij this morning till 7.10am, itwas my alarm that woke him up!! I was was a bit pi**ed off as if I hadnt set it I could have had a longer lie in....

Morning everyone! I dont have the energy to reply to each one of you today so just going to ramble. I slept in 2 hour slots last night (restricting my intake of fluids did nothing to curb my constant desire to pee).
On one of my sleeping slots I had a very weird dream about trying to balance on a boat (rocky waters) whilst wearing no clothes (ewww, not a pretty sight!) whilst being stared at by every single one of my work collegues!
I was actually embarrassed when I walked into work this morning!

DH asked me today why I am trying to hide my pregnancy by walking around with unbuttoned suit trousers and covering it with a shirt thats hanging out because it doesn't look like me! I want to wait until after my scan on Tuesday but I doubt I can leave it much longer than that!

Miaou - Congratulations on your scan results. Enjoy your pictures and good news on the hospital situation too.

ANyone heard from Chooster?

Okay, I have to go pee again!

Big hugs everyone.

twoplusone · 11/01/2007 12:05

firststar- he was supposed to be coming this weekend but as usual has said he cant come... I know we live over seas and have done since 2004 but you would think he would make the effort to see his daughter..!! he came to Cyprus ONCE to see her the rest of the time it is down to her to get to him.. And it is always down to me to arrange and pay for the flights....then wait for him to give me 50% back.... INfact I paid for her to go back in the summer and he was paying my x amount to cover the xtra money to fly in to manchester... I am still waiting for that...

Sorry Rant over... sore subject..aaaaggghhhh

Chooster · 11/01/2007 13:16

Hello all! Sorry for not being in touch. My In-laws popped round last night and I thought they'd never go (I do like them really, but they love to chat!) Then work has just been really really busy... Anyway, the scan went really well and the baby is jumping about with no signs of anything wrong - so we're thrilled again. I think this is us in the clear now but I have another scan in 2 weeks to check again.

The only slightly annoying thing the sonographer did was drop questions in that sounded like there was a problem. Like - "In any of your earlier scans has anyone mentioned Downs Syndrome" when I said no and is there any concern, she said no and that she was just wondering. Then she said "In any of your earlier scans has anyone mentioned anything about the placenta" . Again when I said no she said that is was a bit low but that was common at this stage. Each time she spoke after that I was holding my breath for the next worry...

But all is well - sorry to waffle on...

Miao - Thats good news from you about hospitals - I see to remember you are up past Fort William aren't you?

Twoplusone - Thats such a shame for your DD but good for you for making every effort to keep arranging for her to go to the UK. And you sounded so accomadating of them if they had come this weekend. Hope she's not too upset. The roast sounds lovely!!! Does your DS eat a lot of meat - I only ask because mine doesn't unless he's at nursery (where he seems to eat anything put in front of him )

Myfairone - I had to laught at your description of the way you dress. The last couple of weeks I've had to undo the button on my work trousers and hide it with my shirt - but then I'd forget to check it was all hidden when I stode up Am in maternity work trousers today (bought in New Look sale yesterday) and they are fab!!!

Actually speaking of embarrassing - in a meeting today with my boss he said something I couldn't hear and I said "Sorry darling?" Oh my God - I was so embarrassed. He just carried on so I dont know whether he actually heard or whether he just didn't see the funny side

Anyway enough from me!!! By the way Abgirl my scan said I am 12wks and 4 days today but am not sure what that does to my due date...

hi ladies, sorry this one will be all about me as in the middle of a bit of a strange day. will write later when i have had time to go through all the threads.

had my 12 week scan this morning which apparently showed the baby is 1 in 55 risk of downs/genetic problem ( not sure how they term it.) anyway, had blood tests which i will get back tomorrow but it was all a bit upsetting. saw the little baby who looked fine and vaguely moving around when it fancied... any comforting words, i know girls on our thread have had much worse situations to go through than this by the way.. x
