Hello everyone - Just starting a new thread for this... Will send a message in a mo.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Blimey Bread and Roses, that must have been quite a shock, but congratulations. Our first twins in July! Wonder if there'll be any others...

DD much better today, over the worst of the pox. It's lovely to have her old mischievous cheeky self back! Might even get some sleep tonight!!!!

Still managing to squeeze into my normal clothes, bump only makes it's appearance after I've had my tea, and even then I just undo my belt buckle a bit. I was quite lucky with DD that I didn't show for ages. People at the ante-natal classed thought I was just some non-pregnant nutter who had turned up! Think it's due to having wide hips (I knew I'd be glad of them one day) so plenty of room down there.

Myfairone · 08/01/2007 16:25

Twoplusone ? So glad to hear you got the adult interaction you were craving last week.

So hopefully then you are 4 phone calls (although I hope it can be more) away from seeing DH!

I can see why you are upset about your brothers (possible) baby, but at least you know now and hopefully you can have contact with the little thing as soon as things are sorted out. Hey congrats if you are an aunt!

Breadandroses ? I am at the ?its all really tight? stage and still only playing around wearing my maternity clothes. I will feel better once I have told work so I can really let it all hang out!
I have been the same with food too. Nothing really tastes that good but some things are more manageable than others. I am taking a vitamin pill and hoping that I am getting whats required.

Swift1 ? I am sure that your bump is more baby than celebrations at this stage! So sorry to hear you have a cold, its just awful having one and not being able to take anything isn?t it!
Justbemet ? Not sure how good those predictors are?my friend was convinced she was having a boy and everything pointed to it. When she went for a scan it was a girl! Total shock?.I was all for finding out but DH is adamant he doesn?t want to know. Seeing as how I am so shocking at keeping secrets I have decided to keep it a surprise.

Abgirl ? I am sure you are not a control freak!
Congrats on your official maternity wearing phase! Its not going to be long for me because its all rather tight and uncomfortable right now but my mat clothes are all rather big!
Hope work is going okay. It does stink having to come back but you will have some time off soon enough!

Well I have felt really good today?I have no idea if this is me turning a corner or just a result of a weekend of rest. I have taken full advantage of it by working hard (NOT!) and cutting down on my usual amount of ginger biscuits!

Big hugs to all.

MissusC · 08/01/2007 17:02

Just went out to try and find a pair of maternity trousers as totally failing to do up top button and most of zip on all mine, but just nothing out there - January sales nearly drove me nuts as so badly organised in most shops and for some reason the 'maternity wear' areas of the shops I tried were the size of a sixpence and only did super skinny. Grrrrrr. Just want to let it all out and feel more comfortable. Have a niggling thought that I might be going your way breadandroses... nothing I've read so far says that I would start showing at 12+3 - when did you start showing?? Although I did eat very well over Christmas too....

Totally love this forum btw - so great to find others in the same boat. Must practice writing to people individually, although not sure I'll manage it!

lynnec · 08/01/2007 18:48

Hi ladies, hope you are all well, havent been on since way before xmas, so hope you all had a nice one and happy new year!!

Welcome to the newbies!

Congrats to bread and roses.

Justbeme id like to find out the sex, however i did read in my maternity records our hospital wont tell you the sex not sure if thats the same with all,or do you have to go private to find out????

Myfairone glad your feeling brilliant, with me it seems to be every second day i feel sick, just looking forward to my scan on the 18th,then i can sleep better at nights.

I hope you are all well! x

Cakehead · 08/01/2007 19:19

Hi there,
Lynneclynne - my NHS hospital will tell you if you ask, some do, some don't, I think. I didn't find out with DD and was pleased in the end that I hadn't. I got so bored in the last couple of months that the 'what ifs' were all that kept me entertained.

However, if you DO want to find out the sex, my friends in California did it in a really nice way. Rather than being told at the scan, they got the nurse to write the sex on a card in an envelope they'd taken along, and then they went out for dinner that night, ordered a glass of bubbly each, and opened the envelope over dinner. They said it felt a lot more intimate than just being told in a doctor's room. And the nurse had cheekily stuck in a photo from the scan to prove that yes, they were definitely having a boy...

lynnec · 08/01/2007 19:43

Cakehead, thats brilliant what your friend did, i have my scan on the 18th so i will double check with my mid-wife then. May well be taking an envolope along with me at the next scan if they will tell us!!

abgirl · 08/01/2007 19:47

Well got through my first day back and have agreed with them that I'll finish on 27th April, so really not that long to go, and am sure thedays will go quicker once I'm back in the swing of things.

Myfairone - DH may have a small point about me being a bit of a control freak - I do like to know what's going to happen when and previous experience says that babies don't always agree with this!

MissusC - last time I was pregnant I bought black trousers from Topshop, which were OK for earlier pregnancy but just didn't strech enough later on, and same fab really stretchy comfy ones from Next, in a jersey material I think - they're like wearing pyjamas as they're so comfy but smart enough to get away with for work.

Miaou · 08/01/2007 19:57

Where I am, neither my local hospital or the main city hospital will tell you the sex of your baby, but I don't want to find out anyway. Dh says it's a bit like peeking at your Christmas present early and I tend to agree! Plus like Cakehead I found it much more interesting to speculate.

When I was pg with dd1 I was threatened with an elective section (she was breech but turned at the last minute) - and at that point I was so glad I didn't know what she was going to be as I felt that every surprise would have been taken away!

I also quite like the fact that the baby won't actually receive its name until it is born. But these are all my personal feelings and no criticism of those who want to know!

Groveregg · 08/01/2007 20:33

I agree with you Miaou, I won't be finding out and quite enjoy the not knowing, and trying to get a feel for it by instinct. Few enough surprises in this life. Though having said that, second time round it tempts me more to find out so I can chuck out old blue things and buy some pink things (they are so much more exciting than boys clothes!)... but I won't succumb; plenty of neutral things for the first few weeks!

And whoever it was who was talking about leaking wee, I'm so glad that has been mentioned! I've had a cough since Christmas that I just can't shift and it really is getting me down that I can't keep everything in unless I went to the loo less than half an hour before... I hate to think how it will be when my belly gets bigger and more of a weight!

lynnec · 08/01/2007 20:38

Miaou,i do tend to agree with you,its just in our case we need to know incase we have to start our plans with an extension to the house, with ds i didnt want to know,i think its better getting a surprise, however we will need to apply for planning permision for an extension if its a girl.

Cakehead · 08/01/2007 20:40

Groveregg, I'm a bit like you, I'm curious to know whether I'm going to be needing to dust off DD's babywear, but I have to say, finding out as she was born was just brilliant. It kind of made the whole labour worth while - I was so desperate to know at the end, that I sat bolt upright as soon as she was delivered to look for myself.
And ringing up my mum and dad and telling them they had a granddaughter was lovely.

giulia68 · 08/01/2007 22:45

hello everyone, we've been moving and i am still unpacking boxes even though it's only temporary... forgive me if i don't say hello to everyone but there are so many of us on here! but missusc - i had bleeding weeks 11-14 with my ds now 18 mos. never explained, hugely worrying at the time though. just keep asking them to scan you for reassurance if it continues won't you?
cazzybabs, if you read this, good for you, and i wish you so much luck and babydust for next time.
3flights - great results, i am delighted
cyee - i think it was you asking about constipation - umm - i have found the best cure to be dried fruit - but no too much because it has unpleasantly windy side effects with lots of water.
beanymum, weddingcake, breadandroses welcome.
hello lynneclynne, hope you are feeling good and positive - we are almost at 12 weeks, in fact are you already?! hello to myfairone and catstar too, i am crying at the most ridiculous things. too ridiculous to even recall here in fact...
we are off for 2 weeks hols this weekend so hope i will manage to post before but if not all the best to all of you and look forward to chatting when i get back.

giulia68 · 08/01/2007 22:47

cakehead, groveregg, an interesting debate.. the only thing someone said to me was that it was one of the few great surprises you are guaranteed in life - which seemed like a good idea for doing it to me at the time. i will always remember my DH yelling 'Sweetheart it's a boy!!' with such excitement. oh dear, tear welling up just thinking about it...

Beartime · 08/01/2007 23:09

Hi everyone! wow took me half an hour to catch up so i don't think I'll be doing much individual replying!

I'm with you onleaking pee - ever since I got the flu I've been coughing and letting our 'squirts' with every cough Then one time I had a really bad cough and had to change everything! Must do my pelvic floors...

Bread and Roses congrats on twins!

3flightsofstairs · 08/01/2007 23:45

Congrats on twins Bread and Roses!

I just can't face maternity clothes right now - I don't feel that this is real enough I have movement, clear CVS, know the sex, etc. and should be over the moon. What is wrong with me?

pulapula · 09/01/2007 04:00

Hello all,

I find myself wide awake in the middle of the night, so I might as well chat to someone (DH working away).

Had my 15 week appointment with MW yesterday to do triple blood test, and I heard baby's heartbeat too which was quite an emotional experience as I have been feeling really well and started to think the spare tyre I am developing was just the result of too many mince pies!

I really want to know baby's sex this time- more for practical reasons. We want to keep it secret so plan to say to people that we didn't find out the sex. It won't stop everyone trying to predict it, but would stop people trying to get it out of us!

I HATE JANUARY.

I don't get paid for another three weeks and DP doesn't get paid till Friday. I have 0.84p to last me till Friday.

dewmeadow · 09/01/2007 09:30

Congrats - breadandroses - thats so exciting. My scan is on Friday and I cant wait to see my baby/babies!!!!!

Im getting tight in my noraml clothes now too, especially after my tea for some reason. But im going to hold off until my scan and then Im going to let it all hang out. I only lost half my baby weight after DS and my bump has really pushed out by big fat tummy! Ah well....

Also running to the loo but have had dodgy pelvic floor since last time, as was lazy with exercises. HAve to wise up this time. After the first trimester the baby pops up out of your pelvis and the pressure goes, isnt that right?

Hello to everyone

earlyriser · 09/01/2007 10:07

haven't been on for ages (Dp home so has been hogging the computer!)and have only just skimmed through the messages so have probably missed out on a few nuggets of info.! Congrats to breadandroses on twins, if it is your first then as you don't know any different i'm sure it will all work out fine. Had my 12 week scan last friday and it was wonderful to see hands and feet and two matchstick legs. I'm sitting here trying to do pelvic floor exercises as i type, do not want a repeat of last pg where i fully wet myself in a car park (on my way to go shopping)after chocking on a starburst . Hope all your ms is starting to disappear, i got off without any this time, but put that down to my appalling pg diet of crisps and bread!

Myfairone · 09/01/2007 10:31

MissusC ? I am 11+2 and I am showing?.totally shocked by it as I am usually so small (5ft and size 8!) I am putting it down to having no space for anything to go so its coming out the front!!!!!

LynneC ? Some hospitals will tell you and others will not. I think it just comes down to the area you live in!
My scan is on the 18th too! Sooooo nervous and excited!

Cakehead ? what a lovely story and a real romantic way of doing it. I also know someone who wanted a pink or blue pram, so they got them to write the sex on a card in a sealed envelope, gave that to the staff in the pram shop and told them to order the colour according to the card!!!! Bizarre!

Giulia68 ? boo to moving but hooray to a holiday! Hope you are managing okay. When is your scan? Seems LynneC and I are both the 18th!
And thanks for making me shed a tear sitting at my desk at work! For some reason that has really caught me! How wonderful?.

3flightsof stairs ? it seems that you are afraid and frightened and we all know how you feel. Don?t be so hard on yourself, you will allow yourself to be excited when it feels right for you. Try and relax (that?s rich coming from the worlds official No.1 worrier!)

Pulapula ? I can?t make it past 3am! I feel for you. Wish I had known you were online we could have chatted! My dog seems to be getting really fed up of having early morning chats with me

Typhoonsmum ? we got paid on the 15th December! I have less than you?.nearly pay day!

Dewmeadow ? good luck with the scan on Friday! Hope that all is well. Some posts ago it was mentioned that when you eat your bowel sticks out and that?s why you feel fat after dinner! Lovely thought! Lol?.
Im hoping the pressure lifts a little after 12 weeks because I am peeing so much its embarrassing?plus my desk is about as far away from the loo as I can get and I am sure they think I am just trying to avoid working! Which infact I am

Earlyriser ? Congratulations on seeing your little one! Thanks for making me laugh so much at your choking/pee story?.I know it probably wasn?t funny at the time.

Well once again I managed to squeeze into a suit for work?just about! And, I am pleased to report that my MS is being very kind to me today?hoping I may have turned a corner?but then the worrier in me is now worrying that something is wrong! Oh pull yourself together woman!!!!!

Question for all the workers out there ? at what stage did you tell your employer? I want to wait till after my scan (18th) but was wondering if I should wait a little longer until bonus?s have been discussed?any advice?

Big hugs to everyone.

typhoonsmum · 09/01/2007 10:37

Just been to the loo and noticed a really dark brown discharge. I'm so scared. I'm 11+2 now. I can't loose it now.

MissusC · 09/01/2007 10:42

Thanks so much for all your support over the d/c thing - I seem to be 'drying up' so to speak, so that's great.

earlyriser - I almost peed myself laughing at the thought of you choking on a starburst - sorry, just a great image! Am also pelvic flooring like mad, although I'm pretty sure my face screws up and relaxes as everything else does, so don't think I'll be doing them in public!

lynnec - we're not planning to find out the baby's sex. Just love the idea of having something to look forward to at the end of the labour!

dewmeadow - I'm having my first on 19th July and I've got my scan on Friday too... how exciting is this??!! Eek and squeak - can't wait to see the little bean! Do you have to pay for copies of the scan? We do - a fiver!! Best money we'll have spent in a long time though....

abgirl - thanks for tip on Next trousers. Can't be bothered to go shopping again, so have relegated jeans to the 'when-I'm-thinner-after-the-baby' cupboard and moved into nice thick tights and a brilliant M&S skirt with a wide elastic top to it which is sooooo much more comfortable and now all is hanging out!! Bliss.

Myfairone · 09/01/2007 10:50

Typhoonsmum - Try not to panic. Is it possible that this could have been when your period was due? I read somewhere that it can take a while for your body to get out of the habit so to speak.
Might be worth giving your doctor a call and getting it checked out.

Thinking of you and hope you are okay. Big hugs

typhoonsmum · 09/01/2007 10:55

I've phoned work and they say they'll scan me this afternoon. It seems to have stopped now but when I m/c in August it stopped and started. I'm trying not to panic but it is difficult.
