Hello everyone - Just starting a new thread for this... Will send a message in a mo.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
MissusC · 07/01/2007 15:09

Hello fellow due-in-July's! Great to find an area full of people in the same boat as me - I'm due on 20th, although first scan is on this coming Friday, so that date might change a bit.... Just a quick one - I don't want to hijack this thread, but have just (an hour or so ago) started getting brownish discharge and all the posters on the main pregnancy site are not so far gone as us. Anyone else had this? Obviously it's quite worrying, although I'm not a negative person by nature, so I'm not going straight for the doom and gloom option. Just thought that 12 weeks was supposed to be the threshold for serious risk of mc's? Any advice really gratefully received. DH currently overseas, so no one to talk to really....

Hello everone. Welcome Shotgun.

Missus C I don't know what to say. They say brown blood is old blood so I'd keep an eye on it. If it gets redder or heavy go to A&E. If not wait till morning and go and see your GP.

MS seems to be settling but tiredness is taking over. Napped for two hours on couch this afternoon during Man U match (best way to watch football in my opinion)

Myfairone · 07/01/2007 17:33

Oh my friends, how you make me feel better!

Firststar - You are not wrong! I am finding all sorts to worry about...I feel crazy about half the stuff and then worry when I have nothing to worry about, so then I cry! lol..

MissusC - I have no real reply to your question, except go to the doctor if it continues...I hope you are okay.

Catstar - glad to hear I am not alone! Funnily enough it was my DH talking about going to the Download festival that started me off. I was thinking, How can he possibly want to go away 3 weeks before the birth! I made a real big deal out of it! Sorry your DH is depressed, hope the cake cheered him up!

Shotgunbride - It will magically dissapear overnight! feel better? lol...Well i hope it dissapears overnight..mine is still with me! urhghghghg

Bodkin - I hope DD is better soon. How awful for you! HOpe you get some sleep too.
And thank you for the wonderful words of advice! I feel much calmer today and counting the days till my scan!
I am so pleased you saw your little one and all was well. I cant wait for that relief. Glad to hear the nuchal was good too! YOu must be so happy. May I ask how old you are? and what was your risk factor? (just trying to get a handle on whats good and whats not)...thanks

Cazzybabs - Keep going girl! wishing you all the luck in the world.

Twoplusone - Bless your little ones! Hope you had a great day.

Big hugs to all.

beanymum · 07/01/2007 21:37

Hi there I thought I'd say hello. I have posted before but at the very very beginning when I wasn't sure I was pg. and was scared to test. Happily I am now nearly 15 weeks (due 3rd July) and seem to be experiencing the same things as the rest of you. Absolutely everyone I know seems to be pg at the moment! Have not looked on here for ages so don't know many of you - will try to catch up now.

3flightsofstairs · 07/01/2007 21:54

Happy Birthday 2+1! Hope you had a great day!

Liesel, lots of movement now, mostly in the pm when I'm curled up on the sofa (ahem I mean at the gym doing a couple of pump classes ). I'm now 15+2 and felt 1st baby at 14 wks.

Myfairone so normal to be scared! I was 34 at the first one and I found it so unusual to be out of control at that age (that was my Big Worry, may not be your's at all!). My worry this time is whether I'll go for a VBAC or elective section (now the other worries are fingers crossed over). And being pg is not something that's easily put to the back of your mind - I'm sure I think about being pg literally every waking minute - please tell me I'm not the only one

Welcome shotgun and missusc! Glad to have you here!

And good for you Cazzybabs, it will work out, good luck!xx

Have a great week everyone!

Oh and I knew there was something else - we got our full CVS results back and we're all OK and we're having another boy! So excited - a baby brother!!

keiralou · 07/01/2007 22:11

Hi everyone, Sorry haven't posted on here for a while, just never get time at work and am too knackered in the evening ususally... Anyway, just wanted to let you all know two great bits of news: First, i had a nuchal scan on thurs. All sems to be ok, due date has stayed the same (18th Jul) and am just waiting to hear if all the info gathered along with the blood test results put me as low risk. My little bean was a staggering 6.1cm and was crazily moving around - really clear picture aahh!
Secondly, my local hospital Barnet has FINALLY written to me and given me a dating scan for 18th Jan. This was also mean that i may get an appointment to see a midwife after that - huurah! Not that there have been any problems or anythng but you just want reassurance don't you?
Its my dd's 2nd birthday this Thurs and we're having a party next Sat, so can just tell I'm gonna have a busy week!
Still not in maternity clothes but they aresitting waiting - I fear it won't be long as everything (including my jeans that I had on on tuesday) are tight!! Make the most of normal clothes is what I say!

Have a great week everyone and good luck with any appointments you have coming up! x

MissusC · 07/01/2007 22:17

Thanks everyone. I've spoken to NHS Direct and they said that because I have no pain in the abdominal area and no other symptoms not to worry too much, but if anything changes to call them back etc. I feel fine, so just going for positivity!

Does anyone else get the giggles so badly that you can't stop and then find it turns into a full-on, snotty-nosed weeping session? Have done it twice now and DH thinks I'm completely loopy (mind you, so do I!!)! I too am crying at everything - was bad before, but now I'm horrendous. And I'm not a pretty crier - I turn red, my eyes turn red, my nose turns red etc - and stays like that for ages! Oh well, embrace it all I say - although the agony of my boobs when I turn over in bed is unreal... don't get me wrong, I am loving the bigger boobs (as is DH, although he can't touch them, too sore), but it's waking me up everytime I turn over. Sure this has all been gone over a million times before on mn, but it's all new to me!!

Bodkin · 07/01/2007 23:18

Hi, just quick reply to myfairone before bed - I am 33 (nearly 34) and risk factor of Downs before nuchal scan was something like 1 in 400 (fairly low) and after scan was something like 1 in 2000 (very low) Hope that helps. Glad to hear you are feeling a bit happier. Its a roller coaster though isn't it. I ahve days where I am in total panic about having 2 and how DD is going to cope, other days I am serene and swan-like (well, sort of)

Night night all xx

weddingcake · 08/01/2007 10:00

Just as I start to get the hang of this I've had to make a change...

I was talking to a far more internet savvy friend than myself last night who suggested that having a user name with 'shotgun' in it possibly wasn't particularly intelligent in this day and age.

I suspect she's being a bit melodramatic but just in case I've changed my name from 'shotgun bride' to 'wedding cake' (that being one of the only things I seem to be able to keep down at the moment!)

Hope Monday morning isn't too hard for everyone.

Take care xx

Ps If it helps anyone worried about bleeding I've had bleeding at least every other week so far and its ranged from bright red to brown with all kinds of 'bits' in (apologies if tmi) but having so far had 3 scans, each time expecting the worst my little one appears to be completely oblivious and doing just fine.

I think I've decided that my body just hasn't quite got the hang of what's expected of it and is taking a bit of time to adjust so I hope it's the same scenario for anyone else who is worried. My local EPU have been absolutely fantastic though so always worth giving them a call.

Miaou · 08/01/2007 10:34

ah weddingcake, I shouldn't worry about that! It's only a metaphorical phrase after all (and did make me chuckle). I'm amazed that no-one has ever had "wedding cake" before though!!

Bodkin, you have my empathy re the chicken pox - ds (17m) has had it over Christmas, and though the spots are mostly healed up, there are still some nasty scabby bits on his tummy which he has been scratching (euch!). He had most of his spots round his bottom (even on his penis and scrotum, poor wee soul!) and they looked really vile.

Anyone else struggling with changing dirty nappies and morning sickness? More than once I have had to shout for dh to take over whilst I rush to the loo . So much better than I was though - I had permanent stomach ache up until last week. You don't realise just how draining it is until it starts to lift, do you?

To those that are constantly worrying - it's normal, honestly! I think it's an effect of the pregnancy hormones, and particularly if it's your first then you are bound to be totally preoccupied with what is happening to you - after sll, it's totally outside your experience! Tbh I also find that, in this age of information at our fingertips, we have far more things to worry about because we know more about the potential problems. When I was pg with ds (my third), I wasn't working and my dds were at school all day, and I think I just had too much time on my hands which I put to use by worrying about every little thing . I am determined not to get too sidetracked by "what ifs" this time!

breadandroses · 08/01/2007 10:48

Hi everyone,
haven't posted in ages but went for booking in appt and scan on friday and guess what. I'm having twins! Am very slowly recovering from the shock. No wonder I'm so bloody hungry all the time. Will do a full update later when I catch up with all the new messages.

abgirl · 08/01/2007 10:52

Wow, congratulations and good luck Breadand Roses! What exciting news, bet that was a total shock....

Miaou · 08/01/2007 10:52

breadandroses! Congratulations to you! (do you have other children already?)

MissusC · 08/01/2007 10:57

Congratulations BandR, great news. Keep eating!

Cyee · 08/01/2007 11:22

Hi all - hope you had a good weekend. Mine was spent mainly asleep or eating (clearly acting a bit like a baby myself).

14+1 today and still feeling a bit grim in the morning. Also having cramps every now and again which seem to be linked to sluggish digestive system. Might start on the orange fibre sachet things to stop a build up (sorry TMI!).

On the positive side I raided New Look on Saturday - they have a fab sale on. Got one pair of (pull on!) trousers for work, 1 pair 3/4 length linen and 1 pair 3/4 jeans plus two long vests for £34!!!!! I made the mistake of buying some high waisted work trousers last year... big mistake. So now I look all slim in my pull-on ones! I'm sure that won't last long. I wasn't that impressed with the stuff in Dotty Ps.

Welcome to all the new people and great to see your name pop up Cazzybabs - take care.

Take care everyone

Cyee · 08/01/2007 11:23

Wow - congrats breadandroses!! How exciting!

newby29 · 08/01/2007 11:39

Congratulations bread and roses!!! what a shosck and how exciting!

I havent been on for a while (hard to at both home and work) but just wanted to ask whether anyone else is still feeling crap? I am now 13 weeks + 1 and still feeling really headachey and tired all the time - and still have sickness in the evenings. really doesnt seem to be getting better yet!!

twoplusone · 08/01/2007 12:23

breadandroses-wow.. bet that was a shock..

Back to mums and tots this morning was great being around adults..
Had a nice day yesterday, didnt go out or do anything. DH managed to phone last night which was great.. if he carries on lonly phoning once a week then only 4 phone calls then he will be home...yeahhh.

Had some shocking news aswell I could well be aunty to a 4month old baby... long story but my nan is adimant that the baby is my brothers!!.. it is his exgf baby, (I say ex he was out with her on NYE.. and not with his current gf!!

But my cousin turned up at nans with the baby as he and his gf were babysitting, the rest of the family kept giggling, nan held the baby and said"oh my God it is the image of....., whose baby is it.. and who is the father.." She hasnt had it confirmed yet but i thnk it will only be a matter of time.. I am upset at the thought that I have a nephew that I know/knew nothing about, but also excited at the prospect of maybe bieng an AUnt..

A bit of a tricky one really

twoplusone · 08/01/2007 12:25

cazzybabs- hello and thats the spirit. Keep positvive hun and we await your annoucement for next time.. hugs to you... xx

Myfairone · 08/01/2007 12:27

Beanymum ? Hello! Glad to hear all is going well at 15 weeks.

3flightsof stairs ? movement!!! Ooooh, how exciting! Glad to hear you are going to the gym too! (ahem!)
Thank you for the kind words. I just feel like I?m being so irrational, I seem to be happily moving from one worry to the next. My main worry today is the scan! And yes I agree 100% I can?t remember what I spent my time doing before I got pregnant. I am thinking about it constantly. I really didn?t realize it consumes you this much! But I am thoroughly enjoying it!
So pleased that your CVS results were good! What a relief. Well done!

Keiralou ? Congratulations on the nuchal scan and good luck with your busy week ahead.

MissusC ? I was wondering if it was due to the fact that this is when you would have had your period had you not been pregnant? I seem to recall I read it somewhere?.Glad you are not experiencing any pain. Hope all is well.
And yes I too am crying over absolutely everything! I can swing from happy to sad in approx 2 seconds. I cried because I couldn?t make a decision and then laughed when I dropped half a dozen eggs! Madness! And I have taken to wearing a sports bra to bed so that when I turn over its not as painful?.

Bodkin (or should I call you swan now!? Thank you for the information. I am just trying to get an idea of what to expect because I read that at 37 my risk is 1/240. I feel a lot calmer about it now and its only 10 days till my scan! (it seems like forever!)
Weddingcake ? You will always be ?shotgunbride? to me! Lol?.Sorry to hear its all you can keep down but I can think of worse things to have to eat! My MS seems to be manageable today! Making the most of it by eating fruit! Woohoooo!
Glad to hear that you have had good support from your local hospital as it sounds like you have had a pretty worrying time of it.

Miaou ? you are so right! I have spent hours looking up all the ?possible problems? that I may encounter and now live in fear that one of them will happen to me! I am normally an extremely calm and rational person! I have now turned into an extreme worrier! Thanks for the calming words!
I have so much sympathy for you?.dirty nappies and MS! Ewwwwww! I hope that your MS gets better soon!

Breadandroses ? OMG! What a shock! I am very happy for you and please tell us all the details when you get a minute! Is this your first?

Cyee ? I too went to New Look, some of their stuff was really nice! Sorry to hear about the cramps but I think we are all suffering from ?digestive problems?, at least I am!

Newby29 ? Sorry to hear that you still feeling rubbish?its hard to carry on working too isn?t it. I think all pregnant women should be allowed to sit at home and spend the day on Mumsnet!
Big hugs to all.

breadandroses · 08/01/2007 13:44

Having read through a bit I can't believe some of you are in maternity clothes already. I am obviously too lardy to let pregnancy have any effect on my shape at the moment
Yes, I have two dds already (5, 3) but the deal was I could have one last baby, 4 children is dh's worst nightmare! So will be on here a lot more in order to save my sanity.
Is anyone else slightly obsessed with what they're eating? I find myself thinking "hmm, Branflakes ok, danish not ok, dried fruit ok" and so on. It's got absolutely bugger all to do with nutrients, it's if i've eaten enough fibre Will be delighted to have had these babies if only to know that I never have to eat All-Bran again.

swift1 · 08/01/2007 14:18

Big massive congrats to you bread and rosses, and welcom Shotgun. Hello to eveyone else and sorry I dont post to you all personally like the others do , I just dont have the brain!!

Well I am 15+ 2 - although my scan said more like 16+1, and i have been in mat clothes for about 3 weeks!!! Some things I am wearing a belt with though. I have a definate bump but think this is mainly due to the 2 tins of celebrations that got scoffed over Christmas. However, at least its only going on my tum, unlike last time when it spread to my arms, arse, face...

I have a stinking cold, courtesy of dd and unfotunately am leaking urine with almost every sneeze, which is quite worrying - am going to smell soon!!! I can quite seem to get the pelvic floor thing correct, Im always squeezing my bum!

Am pretty sure I can feel movement , a few times a day for the last 3 days.

Have to sleep now, this post was so long!!

justbeme · 08/01/2007 14:26

Hope you are all well - just been to hospital today for blood test for downs screening . get results in about 1 week .
Just been onto www.babyexpert.co.uk (you have to register) and then onto their predictor to see what sex baby they predict you are having - its based on your age and then month that you conceived in!
Mine says a girl - and my daughter and I tested with the old wives tale ring test and that said a girl as well! Still trying to decide if I want to find out when I have my scan in feb. What are you all going to do?

abgirl · 08/01/2007 15:37

justbeme, I am quite tempted to find out the sex this time, though my DH definitely doesn't want to. He thinks I want to know as I am a control freak! DS was a surprise, which was very nice and I do know someone who was told they were having a DS the whole way through their pregnancy and ended up with a DD called Lily!

I am officially in maternity wear from today onwards (am 14+3)! Normal clothes had just got too tight and as I came back to work today couldn't live in elasticated joggers any more. Some of the stuff is still a bit big but it's far more important to be comfy.

Bit to be back at work, had three lovely weeks off with 20mo DS - we got v attached to each other and he came on loads in the three weeks I was off - he's now walking, putting words together, doesn't have a dummy at night any more and we've got him off bottles. Am lucky that DH stays at home to look after DS and he does a great job, but still v emotional today - will blame the pregnancy hormones!!!
