Mollie & mrspopper - I've been getting headaches too - I've been trying to avoid taking paracetamol but it actually does nip them in the bud quite well.

jbiscuits · 08/01/2016 07:18

Nehagarg just wanted to add my reassurance. I get this a day or two after sex too,so think it's completely normal.

No advice for the headaches though, sorry. I've just been going to bed!

Belvedere · 08/01/2016 07:30

For those we with headaches the nhs website says you can take ibruprofen in the second trimester, which I hadn't realised. I had some a few weeks ago, they were agony. Hope you all feel better soon.

nehagarg · 08/01/2016 08:04

Phew! Thanks jbiscuits Smile I do feel completely normal though. Except the ruddy nightmares. Killed DH in my nightmare again! Sheesh!

nehagarg · 08/01/2016 08:05

Has anyone tried 4head for headaches? Doesnt cure it for me but does gives temporary relief for an hour or so. Another thing that helps me is eating 8-10 almonds. If its a mild one, it dissapears and if its strong it calms down a bit.

Mrspopper · 08/01/2016 09:24

Yes have stick of 4 head in my bag. The kool and soothe migraine strips too. Will ask dr about ibuprofen today. Been a week long headache now and is starting to get me down. Especially as my sickness is so much better and other than the headache I'm starting to feel almost normal!

TattedPixie · 08/01/2016 11:10

I suffer daily from headaches and a cold flannel can help. Also try to keep away from cheese and chocolate as they can trigger them.
I'm still in bed, shoulder and hip pain is a bugger today so resting as much as possible before work later.

bikingintherain · 08/01/2016 12:34

I really wish I could figure out what was triggering mine. But as yet the only patter I can discern is time of day. I.e. I wake up plans over the course of the day get worse until I get to the evening when I can't tolerate the pain anymore and take paracetamol.

LouLou030783 · 08/01/2016 12:37

Biking is ur bp ok?

bikingintherain · 08/01/2016 12:59

It was at the beginning of Dec. I have another midwife appointment at the end of next week, so she will take it again.

But I'm not dizzy or anything which I would have associated with a dodgy bp.

LouLou030783 · 08/01/2016 13:12

U tend to get dizzy in the lower end of bp however if it's high can cause headaches and that's also a sign on preeclampsia I'd maybe call docs just to be checked especially if it's happening quite a lot x

Mrspopper · 08/01/2016 13:50

Hi biking. My dr just checked BP she was keen to do so as soon as I mentioned headache. Paracetamol is totally safe in pregnancy, you need to take it regularly rather than wait for pain to get so bad. Can take every 4 hours. Headaches suck :(

bikingintherain · 08/01/2016 13:50

Thanks, I'll keep an eye in it. It isn't all the time or every day but if it starts being so I'll check in with the medics.

TattedPixie · 08/01/2016 14:04

I have a high BP so it gets checked every 2 weeks. I'm on methyldopa for it which is keeping it down. Doesn't stop the headaches though Sad

MollieRos · 08/01/2016 18:13

Went to the doctors today as I was concerned I had a bladder infection ( the last few days I've had lots of sharp pains, constantly needing the toilet, achey lower back and lower abdomen). Turns out not a bladder infection but I have an inflamed cervix from a deep thrush infection (who knew that was a thing?!)- the GP reckons it explains the small amount of bleeding I've been having.

Sigh, another not fun pregnancy thing!

laughingGnomette · 08/01/2016 18:30

Mollie sorry to hear this, I hope it clears up quickly.

Sorry to hear so many others are having headaches too. Not fun. Thanks for the tips though, will definitely look into the head cooler things. Very interesting too about ibuprofen being ok after the first trimester.

nehagarg - soooo in your nightmares you've had DH cheat on you and more recently you've killed DH! It sounds like an Eastenders plot!! ;)

Had my first 'bump rub' today. One of the managers at DS's nursery gave my bump a good rub while I was having a chat with her today....Hmm slightly uncomfortable/awkward!

Osirus · 08/01/2016 23:17

I had my 16 week appointment yesterday and got to hear the heartbeat, which was lovely. I'm 17 weeks today and have 20 week scan on 28th Jan. I found out that my blood type is Rhesus negative, the same as my mother and my sisters so I will need to the jab at 31 weeks.

My belly is showing very well through my clothes now and my work colleague remarked that I'm at "the unfortunate stage of looking fat rather than pregnant", which I thought was delightful! She has been a little spiteful at times but I'm wondering if it's because she had fertility treatment to have her child and never tried for another. Little does she know that I needed IVF to fall pregnant with my baby. I let her comments pass me by! People do come out with some strange and insensitive comments when someone is pregnant!

17caterpillars1mouse · 09/01/2016 03:57

Slept really badly, now about to start work. Really worried about baby, felt quite a bit of movement in week 15 and 16 despite first pregnancy, not felt anything now since start of week 17 and now at 19 weeks tomorrow. Still sick every other day. Is this normal? Scan still over a week away. Read too much about missed miscarriage in early weeks of pregnancy and now terrified :(
Heard heartbeat at 16 week appointment.

emma85x · 09/01/2016 08:03

17caterpillars Please don't worry. Not feeling any movement at this point is absolutely fine! Remember the odds are hugely in baby's favour at this point. A family friend is a paediatrics consultant and she said you'd be amazed at how much baby's fight for survival and they are powerful tiny little things who can overcome so so much. It's in their nature! Your baby will be absolutely fine. Scan just over a week away is not long at all and time will fly by! I'm sure you'll feel movement when you least expect it!! Keep calm and carry on.

mrsmugoo · 09/01/2016 08:23

I am almost 19 weeks now and still not really feeling movement - every 2 or 3 days I might feel something extremely tiny (still flicks and tiny prods) but at this stage first time round it was proper, quite regular kicks by now.

Pretty sure I have an anterior placenta as the Sonographer at my 13 week scan said it looked like it would be. I guess I'll have that confirmed at my gender scan today!!

Mrspopper · 09/01/2016 08:33

Good luck with scan!
Can I just reccommend maternity leggings from matalan... Just put them on... Soooo soft and thick and comfy!! Might have to buy more.

LouLou030783 · 09/01/2016 08:58

Oh I'll need to try them mrspopper I'm living in leggings at the moment and because it's such an easy thing to wear for getting changed at work I love them x

17caterpillars1mouse · 09/01/2016 09:00

Thank you for the reassurance guys. I think its just because I felt quite a bit early on and now nothing for ages so I'm like 'where's baby gone?', that and reading horror stories about mmc at 20 week scans. I didn't realise I was such a worrier until I got pregnant. I think I'll definitely need one of those baby kick counter bracelets. Avoiding getting a Doppler for reassurance because id worry myself so much more if I couldn't find anything.

Good luck today at your scan mrsmugoo :)

nehagarg · 09/01/2016 09:41

Lol laughing It really does, doesnt it? DH is trying to get me to meditate now to stop the nightmares. So far it seems to work. The days I meditate, I dont get them. Toes crossed.

Good luck with your scan mrsmugoo.

17caterpillars My flutters come and go too. I've found I feel more (but not always) if I lean forward. My theory is that it squashes my iterus so baby tries to move to get into a roomier spot.

20 week scan on Monday!! Eeeek I can hardly wait.

MollieRos · 09/01/2016 10:20

17 try not to worry, I've had similar and the midwife said it's totally normal. I felt loads of movement at 16-17 weeks, but 18-19 weeks I've often been going several days without feeling anything. The baby seems to hide away for a few days then I'll have a few days where I feel them loads. I've been trying not to worry- they're still really little (haha, relatively speaking- I still can't quite believe that I have a baby that's 6 inches long inside me, seems massive!!) and I think mine just hangs out in a corner where I can't feel them so easily. Just to cause me some worry of course Grin

I seem to feel them most when I lie in bed at night. I've been trying to remember to rub in some moisturiser onto my belly, so then I spend a few minutes just focusing on my bump and feeling for movements with my hands, and almost always feel some lovely little kicks at the moment Smile
