Another one suffering crotch/hip/back pain here. I have a bad back anyway, so pregnancy just seems to exacerbate it, not helped by having to sleep on my side now. Am wondering at what point the benefits of going to the Dr's and arranging physio outweigh the stress and expense of arranging childcare and getting 2 buses to the hospital and back!

Mrspopper · 07/01/2016 08:24

Anyone else suffering bad headaches? Had this for a few days and is awful :( wish I could take more than paracetamol. Off to dr tomorrow to check bp etc

laughingGnomette · 07/01/2016 09:04

Mrspopper - me! Horrible isn't it?! I though they were going (I've had them since the start) but I still get them every other day or so. I mentioned it to my midwife and consultant and neither seemed concerned, just said to make sure I'm hydrated (which I definitely do). Paracetamol does bugger all :(. Let me know if your Dr has any pearls of wisdom!!

laughingGnomette · 07/01/2016 09:12

On the plus side I am feeling some lovely flutters and movements now which makes it all worthwhile :)

laughingGnomette · 07/01/2016 09:36

Sorry for the multiple posts!
I'm very Envy of those of you going to pregnancy yoga classes! I did them with my first but unfortunately lack of childcare means there are no suitable classes for me to go to this time :(. Spock - don't worry, they tend to be very gentle and there is no pressure to do moves that you find more difficult.

nehagarg · 07/01/2016 09:56

Ooh yoga classes. Love those. But I am sticking with my prenatal exercise DVDs and walks along the canal for now. Will add swimming soon.

Had a brilliant case of baby brain yesterday when I discovered (at the end of the day, no less) that I was wearing 2 earrings in one ear and nothing in the other. Blush

mrsmugoo · 07/01/2016 10:35

I keep meaning to go to preggy yoga, there's classes by my office and DH could do nursery run so I could go straight after work but just haven't got round to it yet.

On another note - I think I'm blooming haha! Noticed that my skin and hair are looking amazing at the moment and my nails are growing so fast I can't keep up with them!

Mrspopper · 07/01/2016 12:16

Gnomette you know those cools strips. They have been helping a bit and laying with my head on a hot water bottle. I'd kill for ibuprofen! Think I'm going to sign up for daisy birth classes which combine yoga and I really enjoyed last time.

emma85x · 07/01/2016 12:26

mrsmugoo I am totally with you on this! My hair is so strong and growing so fast, my nails have never been better... :) The old wives tale says that means you'll have a boy. We'll see!! I'll be 21 weeks by the time I have my 20w scan and I'm so so impatient!!! :-)

Well done to all of you being so active. I really want to start swimming but after work I need to go to bed! Just ordered a pregnancy pillow from Amazon as I keep waking up in the middle of the night on my back. It's to stop me from worrying more than anything!

mrsmugoo · 07/01/2016 12:38

Well I was exactly the same last time and I had a boy then - I find out in 2 days!!

emma85x · 07/01/2016 12:57

Oohhh good luck! I think I'm having a boy but I was convinced I was having a girl up until about a week ago! I really don't mind either way but if the old wive's tales are correct then no morning sickness + baby's heartbeat is 130 + good hair & nails = a boy. Do you have a gut instinct about your baby's gender?*

*Disclaimer.... Obviously we all will be absolutely delighted with whatever sex the baby is and the only thing that matters is that they are healthy. Guessing gender is simply for fun!

mrsmugoo · 07/01/2016 13:19

I think boy and I will be surprised to say the least if it's a girl.

However I had absolutely no sickness first time and a 3 week 24 hour puke-fest this time so who knows?!

Snowflake16 · 07/01/2016 14:18

Looking at DH family history I'm convinced I'm having a boy. Not one girl born into the family for quite a few generations. It's interesting what you said emma85 has I've had no morning sickness and my hair and nails are looking great. Guess I will find at next Thursday at my 20 week scan.

Belvedere · 07/01/2016 15:59

Spock it's very gentle and mainly stretches and breathing. It was so relaxing it was lovely and was a lively chance to concentrate on me and baby without a toddler or annoying boyfriend around.

Mrsmugoo which classes are near you? I'm doing the purely pregnant ones which I didn last time in Clifton in the relaxation centre, they are really good.

I was 100% convinced this baby was a boy as my family mainly has boys and dp's family is all mainly boys too. Unless the scan got it wrong... Good job they double check it next week at my 20 week!

mrsmugoo · 07/01/2016 16:11

Belvedere - I work on stokes croft and I've been to classes at city yoga before - it's really nice there.

I love the relaxation centre!

Violet88 · 07/01/2016 17:14

Emma Mrsmugoo I'm having a boy and my hair and nails are growing really well, and I've only had one episode of vomiting (after a christmas dinner I could barely touch), so everything your saying rings true with me! My DH is one of three boys and his older brother has two children both boys, so lots of boys in our family too. DH has had a gut feeling ours was a boy all along too.

Belvedere · 07/01/2016 17:32

It was so lovely was it mrsmugoo. Shame it's no more :(.

PrincessPunzie · 07/01/2016 17:50

Hmm, no morning sickness here, my nails are as strong as wrought iron but that's situation normal for me (no idea why!) and no change in my hair. Husband's family is full of boys and his cousin (one of four boys) has already had two girls so that's surely all the females used up for this generation! But we'll see!

jbiscuits · 07/01/2016 18:34

emma I wouldn't worry too much about waking up on your back. I read last time that that's why you wake up, because your body doesn't like it. I keep waking up on my back too, but kept getting tangled up in pillows last time round, so gave up trying to wedge myself in!

snowdrop I have my scan next Thursday too. I think we've decided to find out the sex (DS was a surprise), but still have a week to change our minds again!

MollieRos · 07/01/2016 19:06

Welcome Rosi Smile

Mrspopper I've been getting loads of headaches. I've been dulling them with a cup of tea for the caffeine, plus lots of fluids and paracetamol, though I've just had to try and put up with them mostly. I've also started using one of those 4head sticks- I was very sceptical but actually they do seem to make a difference (it's likely just placebo effect, but I have no problem with that as long as I think it's working!! Smile). They're also quite soothing as they feel sort of menthol-y so once it's on, if you put your hand on your forehead it feels lovely and cold.

nehagarg · 07/01/2016 20:55

Question for people who have done this before since I am new at this and scared at everything. TMI coming btw.

I just went to the loo and wiped a blob of stretchy white mucus. A lot like the mucus plug pictures on google. I am 19+3 today. Is it normal to lose bits of your plug this early on? Bit scared in case my cervix begins to dilate.

bikingintherain · 07/01/2016 21:12

I think it's quote normal nehagarg, as I understand it the mucus plug constantly replenishes itself.

When I lost one in the past it was much bigger than pictures on google had led me to believe, about the size of a satsuma.

If there's loads it might be worth checking with the midwife but if not I think it's probably ok.

LouLou030783 · 07/01/2016 21:13

Ur mucus plug will be thick and blobby with streaks of blood through it u will Defo know when it's that, for it to be white and blobby I said excess discharge or perhaps u have a bit of internal thrush x

nehagarg · 07/01/2016 21:42

Thanks biking and LouLou. Mine wasnt a lot and definitely didnt have blood. Did have sex last night so its probably a result of that. Thanks again. Thats very reassuring. Smile

Spock27 · 07/01/2016 22:47

Guys if you haven't tried it already I thoroughly recommend pregnancy yoga! As Belvedere said (thank you for the reassurance!) it was mainly stretching and relaxation techniques. I feel so much better now, suddenly realised on my way home that I was walking normally which hasn't been easy with really sore hips and back pain but it's gone now :) I'm sure it'll be back but at least I get some respite from it! Also during relaxation I felt the baby move for the first time, some definite kicks :D
