Well I can't believe I am doing this but I am petrified the old thread is about to get filled up and we are going to loose people. ...

Happy New Thread (fingers buffering crossed this works AND I can manage to post the link Confused )

Since this seems to be the time for lurkers to emerge I will follow on! I'm due on the 28th June, which also happens to be my birthday, and this will be my first. I'm with socktastic on the surrealness of it all - it is starting to sink in now that there is a little bump, I have seen there is actually a baby in there on two scans and we have started telling people, but I can't quite believe that we will actually have a baby at the end of it!

beano sorry to hear you are on the downwards dip of the rollercoaster, this pregnancy lark is definitely not the smooth, glowing, easy ride Hollywood makes out is it?!

dollydaydream84 · 30/12/2015 09:09

Happy Christmas one and all! I have been sick every day since 12 weeks but feel a bit better overall during the day. Almost 15 weeks now and I remember improving slightly with my DC1 around 15 weeks so hoping to keep up with tradition.

Gnomette that feels reassuring to know that you weren't pressurised. I don't want to make the decision until quite late on and I would really like a growth scan after 30 weeks to help make that decision as DC1 was a big baby, if I have a tiddly baby I might be able to give birth naturally. My friend who is a medic was saying although they can't be too accurate about the weight on scans, they can measure the babies head circumference which was the issue last time so I'm hoping the consultant will go for that and agree to a scan!

Welcome to all the de-lurkers!

Hope everyone had a great Christmas!

Smiler81 · 30/12/2015 09:20

Hi all, thought I'd jump in on the thread also, I'm now 14 weeks and due on 28th June with twins (slightly daunting as this is our first pregnancy but nothing like being thrown in the deep end).
Have been feeling much better since the 12 week mark, more energy and less nausea. Although that appears to be normal it makes me feel less pregnant, but best make the most of it I guess.
The 20 week scan seems like a long time to wait though.

laughingGnomette · 30/12/2015 10:18

So sorry so many of you are still feeling poorly :(

smiler - welcome! We do have another set of twins on here so you're in good company. Also welcome to redtammy, charl and socktastic! We do have a stats document somewhere but I find it impossible posting links on my phone (I'm at work) but you should be able to find it on our previous threads.

Eastend - hehe, your MIL sounds like my mother! Non stop fussing!

Torfhinn - I'm really pleased your appointment was also a positive experience. I'd read too many posts on MN from ladies having to beg for elcs despite terrible birth experiences previously so I was expecting the worst.

dolly - fingers crossed we have nice, dainty, well positioned babies that slide out with a sneeze! Grin

nehagarg - I'm also feeling incredibly tired too. I am a bit of a hormonal b*tch at the moment to be honest mainly towards poor DP :( he is an absolute saint for putting up with it.

laughingGnomette · 30/12/2015 10:24

Has anyone bagged any baby bargains in the sales? The few things I have my eye on are still full price so I'll just buy them closer to June. Darn!

Spock27 · 30/12/2015 10:58

Mothercare has a good sale on at the moment, we were looking at getting a travel system soon. I think clothes are also on sale but mothercare mat clothes don't tend to fit me as I'm too tall! Their jeans make me look like a schoolboy who's had a growth spurt. Thankfully don't need them yet anyway, is anyone else still wearing normal clothes? I'm 17 weeks but first baby so hopefully it's normal.

Smiler81 · 30/12/2015 12:01

Still feels a bit early for shopping I think once the 20week scan is done I'll feel happier about buying some things. There always seems to be sales on so I'm sure I'll find a good deal when the time feels right. Busy house selling and hunting at the moment so that's priority. See what's left in the budget after that. Still in normal clothes at the moment, but have to put my tracksuit bottoms on by the evening as my little bump always seems a bit bigger then. Think I'll just have to wear my slightly looser work trousers next week.

kezod · 30/12/2015 12:04

Spock I'm still getting into my normal (stretchy clothes), although there's a few pair of jeans I've had to abandon. I've ordered some maternity stuff off mothercare so hopefully it fits!
welcome new people and congratulations! The stats link is at the beginning of most of the other threads I think if you want to add yourself on!

CheersMrSunfresh · 30/12/2015 12:21

Seeing as it's the day for de-lurking...I've been following for a long time, it's time to say hello! I'm due dc3 on 5th June, I have two ds who are 4 and 2. Like someone else was saying I think I'm holding on for the 20 week scan to feel completely comfortable with this pregnancy. Our 12 week scan showed a second baby had sadly died at about 8 weeks so it was very much mixed emotions. But very grateful to have one wriggly baby.

Hope all those who are still suffering with nausea and sickness get some respite very soon, it's so miserable.

Potkettleblack2 · 30/12/2015 13:42

Welcome all the new posters! Cheers that must have been emotionally very difficult-I can't imagine how I'd feel in those circumstances. But great you're here!
I've bought two cot sheets and one babygrow in the sales-we have loads of baby stuff, both from DC1 and hand-me-downs from family, so
I really think we don't need a single thing for this baby-we have too much-I might even give some away closer to the arrival!
On my list of things to buy I now only have (non) exciting things like breast pads and cotton wool-but it's far too early to buy these yet!
Is anyone else convinced they know the sex even though they have no evidence? I'm sure this is a boy-but we're not going to find out so I have another 22.5 before I find out if I'm right!

Potkettleblack2 · 30/12/2015 13:43

22.5 weeks left-crazy!!! That makes it seem much closer than just saying I'm 17.5 weeks pregnant. And that's if I go to 40 weeks which I didn't with DC1!

bikingintherain · 30/12/2015 14:48

Bizarrely I need to mark my place again. Apparently I have not been talking enough! I thought I had posted a couple of days ago, but apparently not!

My morning sickness if fading, although comes back with vengeance if I eat much sugar. So to my mind I am owed a lot of Christmas chocolate, mince pies and Christmas pudding. But despite my lack I'm happy to be feeling improved.

I'm knackered today though, DD has an ear infection and was up in the night quite a lot. But managed to get antibiotics for her this morning so hopefully she'll start to feel better soon (and the hideous stench coming from her ear will go).

Since I failed miserably to wish you a Merry Christmas, I'm going to be the first to offer you greetings for a Happy New Year!

Violet88 · 30/12/2015 14:54

Sympathies for those who had less than good experiences with christmas dinner this year! I could hardly touch mine and was sick after it, but thankfully I haven't had any actual sickness since, although the nausea is still here.

Had my 16 week midwife appointment a bit late this week and got to hear the heartbeat, was amazing to hear even though I already heard it on my doppler at home, but wonderful to have confirmation that I was listening to the right thing. Baby's heart was beating at 140-150 beats per minute, which midwife said was perfect.

Most excitedly though we should find out what we are having today!!!! Scan is at 4:30 so hope that baby makes it obvious!!! Not long to wait now eeekkk!!!! xx

PrincessPunzie · 30/12/2015 15:18

Hi to all the newbies!

spock I'm 17 weeks and still in normal clothes so don't worry. That said I live in dresses when I'm not in lounge wear or workout gear - no jeans - so perhaps the sorts of clothes I wear are just more forgiving.

potkettle I think I'm having a boy, but that might be more that my husband's family is full of men and he's always said we'd have sons. My SIL is convinced I'm having a girl for some reason. So we'll see!

Betty79 · 30/12/2015 15:33

Good luck for your scan today violet we have ours on Monday to find out, can't wait now!

I've been buying all sorts in the sales, clothes from next (will be taking back the ones we don't need after the scanWink) bought a Christmas sack today for baby next year lol. Bought some Muslin squares in boots today and I've ordered the crib as we were given quite a bit of money for Xmas so are spending it on baby things. Oh and I have quite a stash of cloth nappies already too!Blush

I'm wearing a mixture of normal clothes and maternity, whatever feels comfy at the mo. I don't like any pressure from waistbands on my tummy tho.

Hello and welcome to the new posters!

MollieRos · 30/12/2015 18:58

Welcome to the new people!

I've finally invested in some maternity jeans... they're so comfy!! I've been in dresses for the past 10 weeks or so, it's so good to wear jeans again!

Hope the scan went ok violet did the baby get into a good position to find out if you're having a boy or a girl? Smile

potkettle aargh 22 weeks left.... that seems very soon! I was reading on another thread about a link between length of cycles and when people give birth (as in, longer cycles tend to go to 40+ weeks, shorter cycles likely not to make it to 40wks). My cycles are very short (21-23 days), I wonder if that means I'll be earlier? Might have to do some googling about that!!

Torfhinn · 30/12/2015 21:04

Interesting mollie... my cycles are an average 28/29 days and i gave birth at 40+0! Would be interesting if there were something in that Smile

Belleboo23 · 30/12/2015 21:15

Not true for me I have an almost 60 day cycle on average, nightmare when trying for a baby but a blessing otherwise!! Mine were born at 35 and just over 34 weeks so expecting an early arrival again!!

Potkettleblack2 · 30/12/2015 21:33

You could imagine that could make sense! But I don't work for me last time-32 day cycles and DC1 born at 38 weeks. But very interesting!

Potkettleblack2 · 30/12/2015 21:35

Not "I don't" but "it didn't". If I didn't know myself I would think I was drunk given the quality of my writing!

bikingintherain · 30/12/2015 21:38

Ha! I know the feeling potkettle.

I've been 42 weeks with both my previous two and I have a 33/34 day cycle. I'm kind of assuming this one will be late too.

BabySocks · 31/12/2015 07:46

Would seem like a logical theory but didn't play out for me either!

Welcome lurkers, anymore to join the bus? Am planning a trying on session before going back to work next week to see what I can still wear, then buying some extras from ebay :)
Heard the heartbeat twice in the last week so feeling a little reassured, going to be seeing the midwife fortnightly as have concerns which will be reassuring, despite second pregnancy.

Wow gender scans already, God luck and enjoy. Definitely team yellow but I am thinking girl!

BabySocks · 31/12/2015 07:47

Good luck obviously. . .

Lovelybeano · 31/12/2015 08:09

I was late with both of mine and I have a 27-29 cycle, so the theory doesn't ring true for everyone, very interesting though!

I've got another 5 weeks for my 20 week scan, I still haven't done a 'public' announcement, however with the kids knowing now, I think the secret will well and truly be out when they go back to school next week Smile I'll be over 16 weeks then so fingers crossed I'll be well over the dangerous stage. I would ideally like to wait until the scan, but with it being so far away, the news might announce itself with my growing bump. Only a 3lb gain so far though, I'm happy with the slow and steady gain, however I have got a bit of a thing for licourice at the moment so the slow and steady may change drastically lol

Happy new year to you all, I'm sure 2016 will be a life changing year for us Grin

MollieRos · 31/12/2015 08:26

Ah well, I thought it sounded interesting- I'd never heard the idea before, but likely no truth in it! I will try and remember to do some googling and see whether there's any more info on it.

To be honest, my DH and I are both so disorganised and constantly late for everything that I'm fully expecting this baby to be in no hurry and keep us waiting till 42 weeks Grin
