Well I can't believe I am doing this but I am petrified the old thread is about to get filled up and we are going to loose people. ...

Happy New Thread (fingers buffering crossed this works AND I can manage to post the link Confused )

This thread moved so fast, don't think I've posted on the new one and its page 17!!

Lovely scan photos ladies, good luck to everyone making announcements this week.

I had my 16 week appointment today (at 15 weeks as mw is on hols next week) and had a good strong heartbeat, baby is hiding pretty low down though!

My DH is being amazing. He hates hospitals as he associates them with bad news and struggled with the scan so I encouraged him to come to the midwife with me so he can see the routine stuff a bit more. He was happy to hear the heartbeat and when we got home gave me a big hug and told me I'm doing a great job. Now I've been tired for weeks, I'm fretting about being ill at his sisters and ruining their (and our) Xmas meal and I've been worrying about putting weight on too early so have not been amazing but he's still being so supportive.

Lovelybeano · 23/12/2015 14:30

dolly they sound bad but the recovery time is a lot quicker than a c-section and it wasn't overly painful, just a little bit uncomfortable for a couple of days xx

GrubbyWindows · 23/12/2015 14:33

dolly I had a 3rd degree tear and it really wasn't a big deal, it seemed less faff to deal with than my mate's c section.
But totally get you feeling "better the devil you know!"!

becky140290 · 23/12/2015 15:03

When I spoke to my midwife about options she seemed all for the elcs after having c section last year. For me, I had such a mare with ds that I don't think I could mentally cope with a vbac!

iamdivergent · 23/12/2015 15:34

I had two normal births and don't have a consultants appt (I assume because of straight forward births?) Seeing mw on 5th Jan for my 16wk appt - I feel like this pregnancy is going fast so far!

Belvedere · 23/12/2015 17:10

I feel the same dolly what's the point of messing up two bits when I already have a scar and a lovely overhang Blush
If you've already had a c section it's 100% your choice of you have another one. They said I could try a vbac but it was up to me. You'll be fine!

LouLou030783 · 23/12/2015 17:44

Iamdivergent I wouldn't have to have appointment it's only because my new hospital doesn't have my notes xx

laughingGnomette · 23/12/2015 18:42

It's really reassuring to hear others with the same elcs/vbacs dilemma. A nice, calm planned delivery appeals... but I really believe in the benefits of a vaginal birth, however my body is crap at labour and the thought of forceps and a long horrific delivery scare me more than anything, also DS was bloody huge! Five months to decide!

MollieRos · 23/12/2015 20:06

Eek, all these previous birth experiences sound scary I think I'll bury my head in the sand about the actual birth for a few more months!

Great scan picture emma - very festive!

Potkettleblack2 · 23/12/2015 22:31

Mollie I took the approach last time that whatever happens will happen-and it did! The only thing I had said in advance was that I'd quite like a water birth and I'd be willing to try any form of pain relief if I needed it. In the end the baby was born within half an hour of arriving at the hospital and therefore I had no time for either water or pain relief! Whatever will be will be (Disclaimer: I know there are very good reasons some mums need to make plans in advance)!

Lovelybeano · 24/12/2015 05:24

mollie this is my third time so it's not that bad, just keep an open mind, different people cope with it differently. To be honest both times actually giving birth, I didn't feel a thing only pressure - I had no pain relief with ds so it couldn't have been that, I tore with him and didn't feel it or when I got my stitches lol My friend is an absolute wimp and she had no pain relief and didn't make a sound, another friend is strong, nothing bothered her and she had every drug going and said afterwards 'you wouldn't have a tooth pulled out without getting it numbed first, why should having a baby be any different!!' Lol!! different people cope in different ways, both of mine had slight complications, but the midwives and doctors are very good at what they do and there's not many situations that they haven't come across before Smile My dd was 6lb5 and ds was 8lb3 so there was a huge size difference which is why I had a bit of difficultly with ds and I'm presuming that's why they're keeping a bit more of an eye on me this time, which just proves my point about how well they look after you during pregnancy and birth.

Lovelybeano · 24/12/2015 05:25

Oh and I'm posting so early because I've been up since 430 I'm sooo excited and nervous about telling the kids today!!! Eeekkk help heehee

MadrigalElectromotive · 24/12/2015 06:24

Good luck beano! What a lovely Christmas surprise!

BiffleRoo · 24/12/2015 09:13

DD1 was emcs, I planned vbac with DD2 but due to irritable uterus and spd I opted for ELCS at the 11th hour. DS was meant to be a vba2c water birth but again irritable uterus meant I opted for ELCS at the 11th hour and so this one will definitely be an ELCS. I have my consultant appointment on 6th Jan

laughingGnomette · 24/12/2015 10:06

Ahhh beano, good luck!!!

mollie - don't worry about it yet, you've got ages :). When you're ready, do your research so you know your options and keep an open mind.

TattedPixie · 24/12/2015 10:20

Gonna say this now because I've got a lot to do today and won't be on for a few days over Christmas but Merry Christmas to you all, and have a wonderful day tomorrow. May you all be able to eat a full Christmas dinner and enjoy the day.

BabySocks · 24/12/2015 15:19

And to you tatted

Saw the consultant today and she listened to the heartbeat so that was reassuring. I have got an extra scan booked for 28 weeks as well.

Hope everyone else is well and full of festive cheer :)

Argh just back from getting my prescription - dr has decided to move me back onto cyclizine! It didn't work at 7wks so I don't think it's going to work now Confused luckily I don't start them til my current pack runs out on Monday but I have to say I'm not looking forward to a meds move again.

carrie1008 · 24/12/2015 16:01

Happy Christmas everyone! Be thinking of those of you telling people tomorrow...I'm planning a lovely relaxing few days with my feet up and most definitely a glass of fizz to celebrate!

I hope everyone else who had an appointment today had it go well :) beano I hope telling the family went well, can't believe you've managed to keep it secret until now! You've got more willpower than I do.
