Finally got a booking appointment with the midwife through for early January when I'll be 11 weeks pg, despite on the letter itself saying that I need to have this appointment before 10 weeks. Tried calling the midwife to reschedule & just goes through to answer phone and not heard back from them. Tried Friday and today. So frustrating!

Anybody else having so much trouble getting in touch with their midwife? I know that they're probably busy and it's Christmas but a lack of contact and information is not good for my anxiety levels! Can you tell it's my first pregnancy?

Cheery1 · 14/12/2015 11:43

Hello Scase - welcome! That's so lovely that your DH is so excited. What a sweetie. Mine is being lovely too, though we're both being a bit cautious about names til scan. Lovely to read other people's thoughts though. X

Cheery1 · 14/12/2015 11:46

Insuffiently - are you in London too? Everything is a bit behind here. I'm don't have booking in til 12 wks but spoke to Midwife and she calmed me down! Does your hospital have a helpline that you can call. Really put my mind at rest.

Gx91 · 14/12/2015 11:47

Beautician - lol about about the whiskey , bet it worked a treat !! X
I'm with u on the cold thing , can't get a heat in me at all ! OH giving me it tight about turning the house into a sauna while he's out but it doesn't feel watch to me , I have to wear my dressing gown over my clothes during the day and slippers r a must ! Weird eh , I might Google it , maybe the little bean is stealing all the heat ! Lol X
Insufficientlycaffinated- omg , I would b totally taking , nothing worse than constantly getting an answer machine X sorry ur booking app isn't until 11 weeks Sad waiting is a pain , although they will probably have all the blood work done very quickly and back to u with ur scan so u won't have to wait for that X
It's hard not to worry especially if this is your first , I'd keep calling if ur concerned to see if they can fit u I'm before then xx

Cheery1 · 14/12/2015 11:47

P.s. Helpline separate to main antenatal number....

InsufficientlyCaffeinated · 14/12/2015 12:27

cheery1 I'm in Nottingham

There is a helpline although the recorded message stresses twice that it's only for emergencies which this isn't. I'll keep trying the main number, surely somebody has to answer eventually!

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 14/12/2015 12:28

Gx91 what a relief to hear I'm not the only one putting my dressing gown on over my clothes haha. I've invested in thick slipper socks as well. Our bedroom is particularly cold.

Speaking of the bedroom. Im struggling with dtd. We dtd last night and I'm really not into it at all. I've usually got a really high sex drive. More so than DH but I just don't have the energy. I think DH is feeling a little unloved.

Ellizardo · 14/12/2015 12:56

Cheery - love your cystitis veteran comment. That would be a good username! Bluebell - def sounds like that...better cystitis than thrush I say..

So, went to posh Harley St clinic for scan and harmony bloods...all good. The bean was waving and having a good old stretch, you could even see the spine and the 2 halves of the brain fused together! It's so incredible. However, it's only 31mm long and it needs to be 32mm for them to accurately test for fetal DNA, bah! Have to go back on Thurs (apparently it grows a mm a day!) for another scan and bloods... More patience required!
(Roast was delicious by the way, I hoovered that chicken up).
Will try and post a pic but it's a bit blurry!

Gx91 - permanently cold and not helped by leaving my hat at various peoples house as brain turns to pregmush.

In sufficiently - my midwife was so lovely, gave me her mobile and has NEVER called me back. Think I've tried her 3 times inc when I was quite upset about bleeding etc. I call the hospital direct now.

Ellizardo · 14/12/2015 13:04

Hello mumsnet July 2016 gang! love, the waving bean

Gx91 · 14/12/2015 14:14

Lovely waving pic Elli ! Smile
It's quite nice u get to go bk in on Thursday , I enjoy getting extra appointments because it allows u to talk about pregnancy even more , think people on the outside don't care as much as it's not happening to them lol it's ashame we all don't live close by imagine all of us in a cafe !! X

Cheery1 · 14/12/2015 14:45

elizardo - amazing picture! Brilliant that all is well! Haha, maybe I'll start posting as 'cystitis veteran'!

Cheery1 · 14/12/2015 14:47

insuffiently - hope you get through to someone soon. I guess some areas are just busy, I think lead up to Xmas doesn't help. Frustrating you can't get through though Xmas Angry

Cheery1 · 14/12/2015 14:48

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 14/12/2015 15:49

Eli fab picture. Makes me want my scan even more. 16 days to go Grin

mascaraisamust · 14/12/2015 16:38

Ah love a scan photo! Beautician always freezing here too! Dressing gown over pjs in bed! Not good...

Felt icky all day, off food but forced it down my neck.

Scan on Thurs can't come quick enough! 9+1 (I think I'm 8+3) love how we get caught up the days, a whole 5 days!!

Scase1firsttimemum · 14/12/2015 16:51

Ohh how exciting! Lovely scan picture☺️ SO cannot wait to get the date for mine!
Cheery1 its so nice to have support from your loved one, glad yours is supporting you too!
I need to get with the pregnancy lingo because Im struggling to understand all the different letters 😄 where can I look that up?

Jem01 · 14/12/2015 17:15

Lovely scan pic elizardo, so sweet seeing baby waving!:-)

Don't check the thread all weekend and it's very chatty as usual! Welcome to all the newbies. Feeling really really tired like some others have mentioned. Work is becoming a real drag at the moment roll on 24th when I start annual leave! Think I'll need to start wearing my baby on board badge on the tubes as feeling so faint on there especially when it's cramped, hot, and I have to stand for a long time.

My husband's cousin told me she's expecting in May. Really excited our babies will be close in age. So tempted to tell her but will wait until our 12 week scan.

Jo6526 · 14/12/2015 17:55

I had bit of bleeding today, (TMI) mainly when I wiped and like a browny discharge. Not much but still there Confused called doctor went in and she took urine sample said no blood in urine but will phone early pregnancy unit tomorrow to book me in for scan, will be end of week.

I thought I was doing really well 8+6 and morning sickness has been here for 2weeks but can't help but worry x

Loki17 · 14/12/2015 18:20

Does anyone else access mumsnet via the internet on their phone? It has gone all weird on my phone at the minute. Very annoying! Amazing scan pic Eliz!

MissClarke86 · 14/12/2015 18:22

Jo6526 I've been having red spotting for over a week now, it's very light but comes every couple of days. It's scary, but I'm booked in for an early scan on Wednesday so hopefully I'll have some positive news to share.

Has anyone else got acne!? It's not on my face, it's behind my ears near my hairline but it's disgusting!

YouAndMeAreGoingToFallOut · 14/12/2015 19:19

I've got bloody awful spots all around my jawline MissClarke. Gorgeous!

Cookiesandcoffee · 14/12/2015 19:31

elliz amazing scan/waving bean! Eekk so amazing to see he/she growing in there, a faff having to go back but you get to see him/her again Grinhope all goes well
loki I use mine on the app but I've not been on all day as been so busy at work..zzz
jo hope it goes away and you feel better soon. I've had brown discharge in all of my pregnancies so try not to worry. If it goes red then give EPU a call.
Think we've had this conversation but Yey we are scan buddies mascara! I've got the bloods etc and last time we were up there hours.
cheery love your cystitis veteran comment! Definitely flush it out with extra water/cranberry juice.
beautician I'm sorry to hear you're feeling very off DTD. I think this has been the case for me previously where energy is low. Unless you are particularly anxious about anything I'm pretty sure it comes back once you have energy again?
On the subject I have a worry I've been having for a while but didn't want to share. I have been physically unable to DTD as it has been so painful? Absolute agony and I'm really worried if this is going to continue. Anyone else?? Or do I need to speak to doctor/midwife?? As I really don't want to!

youandme you have my deepest sympathies regarding your trapped wind! I've lost hours and hours of vital sleep this pregnancy is agony and seems never ending. Hope it eases soon. I've heard peppermint tea is good but I've not tried it yet as the thought of it is making me nauseous.

Scase1firsttimemum · 14/12/2015 19:32

Everyone talks about this "pregnancy glow"... I laugh in their face, I have lumps and bumps all over my forehead, around my chin Im getting spots its horrible, and Id just started to get rid of them from my early teens 😄

redstrawberries101 · 14/12/2015 20:25

Hi everyone! Welcome to the newbies!

I've been following closely and enjoying everyone's updates. Amazing scan! Not got mine for another 3 weeks yet. Seems ages. My cousin is expecting and just had her scan last week, I really wanted to tell her but then thought I would wait. I told my 3 best friends though, the girls I grew up with and they were really pleased which was lovely. It felt so much more real.

As for the acne, I'm very spotty at the moment :( I need to use a weekly facemask to minimise the breakouts otherwise DH will be playing dot to dot on me!

Someone mentioned painful intercourse, is it because you are dry down there and not loosening up enough?

I am also a very frequent uti-er/ thrush. It's horrible. I do find if I don't go often it flares up but if I keep drinking and flushing it is much better. That's the best advice! Also take probiotics! These are wonderful things and can really help. You can get them in boots or Holland and Barrett.

I'm feeling so tired and flat too. I thought it would begin to lift now but nope. Working all through Christmas, just got Christmas Day off and New Years that's it! Going to try take it easy though. Just cannot be bothered with anything!

Loki17 · 14/12/2015 20:58

I'm still feeling very tired and groggy too. I'm 9+3 today and have my early scan next week. I've got to the stage now where all I can focus on is wanting to see my baby and make sure all is ok. I've got 4 days left at work and I just can not wait for the break!
