Loki, I was exactly the same yesterday. Sitting at my desk, I could just feel myself getting more and more emotional. I got home and just burst into tears. There was no specific reason except worry and concern really. DH was so good with me. I just blurted out all the things I was worried about, some completely irrational, and he just gave me a big hug. Feeling much better today after a good cry and I suppose knowing that he is there to listen and is not freaked out by my crazy hormones. :)

Sorry I've not been on but I've had a horrible time trying to control this Diabetes, Booking in MW was supposed to send a referral letter to the Diabetic team at the hospital so I could be treated asap but she 'forgot' to send it and therefore my treatment was delayed until I phoned them up myself.
Long and short of it was that after emailing my results from the week the head MW called me and insisted I be put on insulin that day so it was a bit of a stressful few days and she simply told me not to keep my hopes up when they do the scan because I have a 300% increase of it not being viable.
However I had my clinic appointment yesterday and the scan went well, looked like a little shrimp and heart beat was healthy, I am 7+3 today and am due 26th July.

I hope everyone is still coping and finding way's of enjoying these early days, I feel so relieved I'm not even bothered by the sore boobs anymore.

Here's my little shrimp!

Aw mord thank god everything was okay, I don't understand why she would say you had a 300% increase of not being viable - is that because of the diabetes? Xx

Mordirig · 11/12/2015 09:25

Yes, apparently when you're diabetic ( and know about it which I didn't ) and want to get pregnant you usually go through a process called preconception diabetic procedure where you get seen by the GP or Diabetic nurse and they review your treatment to get your HbA1c ( which is a test to see what your blood glucose levels have been on average over the previous 8-12 weeks )levels between 6-7 because the higher it is the more risk you have of miscarriage and congenital malformations.
You basically have a 4 fold increase as a diabetic of these things happening anyway but with every 1% increase above 6.3 with your HbA1c levels gives an extra 30% increase of the risk, my HbA1c levels were 16, therefore a much, much higher risk. In fact there is still a risk on Congenital malformations, most common are heart defects or Neural Tube defects like Spina Bifida which is usually detected at 12 weeks but the other ones only at the 20 week scan.
I've already got my next 2 scan dates booked so I don't have to worry about that and I'm trying not to get worked up or think about what could go wrong until I'm told otherwise.
The best thing for me to do is just focus on getting and keeping my Blood sugar levels down, because if I don't it just causes more problems.

When are you booked for your scan Kaytee? Last I read you were sorting your house out, decorating etc, is it all finished yet?

Cheery1 · 11/12/2015 09:59

HI Mord - lovely to hear from you. I'm so glad all is ok, you must be so relieved. It's so brilliant to see your scan pic, little shrimp with heart beating away. great news! I'm sure you'll get blood sugar under control, I'd say trying to keep calm is great start.

Loki - I've had less nausea with the cold I've had for it seems like an age! I reckon Bluebell is right that it's to do with not being able to smell anything. It's coming back as the cold gets better so don't worry Wink

Also hormones all over the place! Had a dreadful dream last night Bluebell, sure it's hormonal and because our private scan is a week away... I guess trying to keep your mind off worrying is the only way. I think as well I haven't been sleeping too well because of cold so that doesn't help! Anyway, hope you feel better today Loki x

Cheery1 · 11/12/2015 10:07

Gx91 - good luck with booking in today! x

Kaytee1987 · 11/12/2015 10:15

I didn't know that at all and one of my close friends is diabetic, I suppose it's never come up in conversation. Yeah just focus on keeping yourself healthy, that's all you can do.
Yep all finished thankfully :) in the spring we're planning to get our driveway monoblocked and the outside of the house & garage painted (may do the painting ourselves) and obviously in the spring will be painting the nursery, God willing.
I have my private scan on 22nd December (eek!) And nhs 13th January xx

Gx91 · 11/12/2015 12:42

Kaytee- u must b very excited to have two scans quite close together! Look forward to seeing it pic X

pulpi · 11/12/2015 12:49

Oh god. Morning sickness. Jesus. Excuse me while I crawl back to the toilet.

Kaytee1987 · 11/12/2015 13:19

GX I usually find scan pictures a bit creepy Blush but looking forward to making sure everything is okay!

Cheery1 · 11/12/2015 13:34

kaytee eek indeed, not long now! Mine's on 19th. Hoping and praying all ok, don't think I'll be sleeping too well next week…..

Gx91 - Whoops! Sure the midwife is used to blood though. Great that you've got a date!

Pulpi - you poor thing. Hope you feel better soon x

Gx91 · 11/12/2015 13:35

Lol kaytee , I'm sure u will enjoy it , some women choose to not have a scan at all through their pregnancy ! I need to for peice of mind , at least by 12 weeks it looks like a baby and not a little dinosaur Grin X mad how much the little bean changed in a few weeks , really is amazing ! X

Loki17 · 11/12/2015 15:55

Thanks all for your kind words. Roll on the 23rd! Mord - that is a lovely scan picture!

mascaraisamust · 11/12/2015 16:02

Loki ive only been sick once and I just have random waves of nausea. I wouldn't worry about it! As my app says the baby should start taking more and more of the brunt now as it gets stronger so you should start to feel better as the days go by xx

Loki17 · 11/12/2015 17:08

Thanks Mascara. The first trimester is so scary.

Cheery1 · 11/12/2015 17:26

loki it is scary I agree. Thank goodness we have each other in this group! x

MissClarke86 · 11/12/2015 18:09

Hi ladies. So I've had spotting (fresh red blood) for over a week now, but very intermittently. GP today booked me for an early scan on Weds. I've all but convinced myself it's bad news :S Fighting the urge to pay for a private scan as there's one available tomorrow, just for quicke peace of mind.., but can't throw that kind of money away when it won't change the outcome anyway.

mascaraisamust · 11/12/2015 18:47

Cheery and Loki, I'm trying to convince myself, I'm scared too!

Missclarke, the wait is awful but you are doing the right thing. Hoping all is ok x

Kaytee1987 · 11/12/2015 18:48

Missclarke I'm sorry to hear about your spotting, how worrying. I know what you mean I probably couldn't help myself but get an earlier scan but Wednesday isn't so far away. Is there anything you can do to take your mind off it for a while? Probably not, I'd be worried sick Sad

MissClarke86 · 11/12/2015 19:50

Yeah it's hard not to but nothing will change between now and Wednesday so I'll just wait. I'm okay, what will be will be and I can't change it...that thought is helping! It's not heavy, I've had no pain and I used to bleed fairly regularly with sex etc because I had an ectropian cervix (where the cells on the outside extend more and graze easily) so it may just be my cervix playing silly buggers! Staying positive.

Vikkijayne2507 · 11/12/2015 20:27

Really dtruggling eith exhaustion and a 2 day headache cant wait for scan a week monday

Cookiesandcoffee · 11/12/2015 22:02

missclark really hoping it's just your cervix playing up. Have everything crossed for you. I agree the scan is very tempting, but agree it won't change the outcome.
lovely pic mord a lovely little shrimp Smile so sorry you've had such a stressful time of it, that sounds horrible. So glad everything seems to be working out ok.
loki and woodsy it's totally normal to have such meltdowns. I've had one or two. Hope you're feeling better.
Great news on the appointment and scan date gx.
Told my DM today, all feels more than real now. We couldn't contain any longer and needed childcare for scan on Thursday.
10+4

Loki17 · 11/12/2015 23:19

Miss - I have an ectropian cervix too. I've not had sex whilst pregnant so far because I know the bleeding will freak me out. Good luck for Wednesday. I hope all will be ok. Thanks again for the support today. I'm really grateful Flowers

gnat99 · 12/12/2015 09:19

Hi everyone, I've been catching up from the last few days and reading all the posts. Congrats to all those who've had scans, thanks for the lovely pics!

Welcome to the new people, as you can see we're a chatty bunch.

I've absolutely shattered this week. Fit for nothing. Turned out after my booking bloods that I'm a bit anaemic (well I'm always a bit anaemic but it's got worse) so I've had to up my iron tablets. Hope that will help soon! I stupidly didn't recognise the signs & just presumed the exhaustion was either cold or pregnancy-related. Which it is, indirectly, I suppose.

I was starting to panic about Christmas shopping, as I really hadn't managed much. But DH and I were both off yesterday and we did a bit of a blitz on it. Now it's over half done. All the card-writing left to do too though! And we have two lots of house guests this week. Urgh, I am dreading it.

Roll on Sunday 20th when we have our scan and leave to stay with family. Will be so nice to tell them and stop having to pretend!

MissClarke, good luck on Wednesday. Am crossing my fingers for you.

10+2

Loki17 · 12/12/2015 09:44

Gnat - iron tablets can be really harsh on your tummy. They made me violently sick with dd (only sickness I had and I was 38 weeks). I found if I ate a snack before bed and then took it before I nodded off I was asleep before I felt sick.

Girls, this is way TMI so please forgive me: I just wondered how I might know if I have thrush? Usually, it is dtd that gives it away - it's painful and stingy. We aren't currently dtd because I font want to risk bleeding and freaking myself out. However I feel a bit off down there. Just wondered how I could tell for sure as I don't want to take anything unless I really need it.
