Hi just got my bfp! I'm early, 3 days before AF was due so not sure if I'm the only one with an August due date?

I'm due August 3rd Smile

Hi flyby I lived in Aberdeen a few weeks ago and my best friend still lives there. I'm lucky enough to be able to work out of the Fife office for the foreseeable but DP has no choice but to brave the commutes. We are thinking of just leaving a car over there. I might give my surgery a ring in that case, it's 3 weeks for a normal appointment. I'm 5+5 I think.

SimileMilly · 07/12/2015 21:52

*a few YEARS ago!!

rumisyum · 07/12/2015 22:09

Flyby my DS is 11 months old tomorrow! And I'll be 5 weeks pregnant tomorrow. So it's all still rather fresh... Blush

ToElleWithIt I'd be exactly the same! I found maternity clothes so depressing & I missed my normal wardrobe SO MUCH during my last pregnancy. My boobs are still bigger than they used to be cause I'm breastfeeding, so I still can't fit into lots of my lovely blouses. I'll be 10 weeks by the time I'm back out at work & I'm really hoping the bloat hasn't struck too badly by then so that I can squeeze a bit of wear out of some my pencil skirts & tailored dresses!

BunchofBobs I can almost guarantee that in 8 months time, all being well (fingers crossed), you'll be moaning about the horrid feeling that you'll be pregnant FOREVER. But the anxiety is awful, especially in the 1st trimester, & I remember it too well. Roll on 2nd trimester!

Sonmanbulator I'm also a medic - definitely get thee to occy health as soon as you think you need to ease up a bit! Pregnancy tiredness, if you get it, is no joke.

GirlFromMars I had an early scan on the NHS last time, but it was only because I had bleeding. Otherwise, your timeline sounds perfectly spot on.

SimileMillie how old is your DD? My DS has his first session with his childminder tomorrow. Smile

ChristineDonna GrinGrinGrin at that comment!

All still well here. Still extremely happy to be pregnant again, but a bit miffed at having to endure 2 sober Christmasses in a row - talk about bad planning! Xmas Hmm

rumisyum · 07/12/2015 22:11

Ohhhh, good points re it taking ages to get a booking in appt though - I'd forgotten that. And what with Chrimbo & New Year... I'll call to get mine sorted tomorrow, I think.

SimileMilly · 07/12/2015 22:18

rumisyum she's just turned 3. Has been with a childminder for the last 2 years but starts school nursery in January, I can't believe where those three years have gone!

rumisyum · 07/12/2015 22:30

SimileMilly Aww, big girl! Time certainly seems to fly by much more quickly with a little one in tow.

Oh and stats...

Bunch the worry never goes away. i went to hospital twice before DC1 was born because I couldn't feel her kicking. Once strapped to every machine possible, she kicked away like a maniac, typical. It is good to have the 12 and 20 week milestones though. After 26 weeks, I felt more and more confident that even if the worse happened, there was at least a chance they could save her.

BunchOfBobs · 08/12/2015 06:43

Thanks Rum and Serious.
This morning is the first time since my bfp I haven't feels the need to poas to check. Maybe I'm calling down already.

I spoke to my maternity unit yesterday (self referal) but I've been told not to expect a call about an appointment until after Christmas. I should be 8 weeks on the 1st. Is this normal around this time of year?

FourForYouGlenCoco · 08/12/2015 08:58

Bobs yeah it sounds ok, still leaves plenty of time to get your scan sorted, and means you'll have less of a wait for it after mw appt!

Well I woke up at 4am for a wee (it has begun!) and then lay there worrying and stressing for the next hour and a half. Finally went back to sleep just after half 5, not ideal. Think I'll ring GP today to see if I can get a scan sorted for this week. I want to believe that this pregnancy will end well but I just can't. I can't imagine myself actually having a baby. I feel like DD was a fluke. Ugh I hope GP refers me, I can't feel like this for the next 6 weeks, I'll go mad!

lilygirl81 · 08/12/2015 09:02

I'm on day 3 of barely being able to get out of bed. I'm so glad I'd already told the people I report to, having to explain this would have been tough. My sickness is through the roof, still pretty constipated, temperature heading towards 38. But kept in check with ice cubes, fans and paracetamol. I am utterly delighted and so excited to be this far on with a pregnancy, and I feel bad because I'm not just dealing with all this, but I can literally barely move. All I've eaten since Saturday is 4 tangerines, a handful of oven chips and some crisps, I can't face any more.

Those of you who have done this before, when does the feeling horrendous pass, and when do you need to seek help? Drinking makes me feel ill, but trying to have at least a pint of water.

Biscuitswithtea · 08/12/2015 09:33

Lily - I would get advice now. I don't mean that in a worrisome way, it's just that it sounds v tough for you. With DS I had constant nausea from c6-9wks, and crippling exhaustion. But I could eat and drink through the day, even if it were dull and little and often rather than actual meals or actual flavour I do hope you feel more human soon.

I have a booking in appt for the 30th, and a scan date for start of Feb (efficient maternity services it would seem) Smile

FourForYouGlenCoco · 08/12/2015 09:51

lily I second ringing for advice, either NHS Direct or on-call GP. The temp stuff doesn't sound like normal pregnancy woes IMO, I think you might have a bug/virus/flu that's being put down to pg symptoms. I also think you need your urine tested for ketones as you might have to go into hosp to be rehydrated (fluid drip) - a good way of getting fluids in that don't make you feel pukey! Definitely ring, think a lot of stuff gets fobbed off when you're pg as everything is put down to that but it sounds like you're in a bad way and they should be helping you as much as they can.

SimileMilly · 08/12/2015 13:06

Sounds horrendous lily, hope you're on the mend soon. It won't hurt to give NHS direct a call.

I've made my booking in appointment for next Tuesday when I'll be 6+6. Seems very early but the receptionist assures me this is the procedure in my area. I ended up being sick at work this morning so told my boss, who is also a good friend. He was so lovely and supportive about it so kinda glad I did.

For anyone else getting cramps just now, are they intermittent or just constant? And limited to one side or all over? I'm completely panicking myself and on constant knicker-check watch!

Christinedonna · 08/12/2015 13:28

My cramps are on and off all day, worse at night and worse after sex

Jw35 · 08/12/2015 14:27

Morning sickness off and on today, starting to feel real! Smile

OP posts:
Christinedonna · 08/12/2015 14:34

Jw35 you're 6weeks tomorrow aswell aren't you?

Salene · 08/12/2015 15:16

I'm 5 weeks tomorrow still no symptoms at all, was getting odd cramp but nothing much. I refrained from sex in first 12 weeks, in my first pregnancy to ease my mind, we doing the same this time round too.

CD maybe consider not doing the deed if the cramping after sex is worrying you. I think they advise not to if you have had MC before, I haven't had one before but that kinda sticks in my head so we just avoid sex for now.

FourForYouGlenCoco · 08/12/2015 16:00

Really Salene I didn't know that about the sex & MC! I've never heard it and I've had 3.
Milly my cramps are mostly on one side but then sporadically spread all over if that makes sense?! They are mainly on the side I ovulated from & I think baby has implanted more on that side. They were much worse from 4-6 weeks but am 6+4 now and they seem to have calmed down for now.
Realised today just how much difference managing the sickness makes, I was seeing 2 friends who don't know so had to eat lunch etc as normal with them and now paying for it! Feel dreadful Confused

Jw35 · 08/12/2015 16:36

Jw35 you're 6weeks tomorrow aswell aren't you?

Yes! Smile

I wouldn't worry about not feeling symptoms at 5 weeks. I only started feeling sick yesterday at 5.5 and before that hardly anything obvious

OP posts:
Salene · 08/12/2015 16:54

Four - I don't believe there is any link between sex and MC I was just told that if you have suffered miscarriages before , then in further pregnacies they recommend no sex in first 12 weeks .

I think I read somewhere but don't quote me , that Semen contains prostglandins which are the same hormones they use to induce birth and Orgasm produces contractions in the uterus. In a healthy person these things shouldn't matter but with a history of MC they just say best to avoid.

Ask your MW , but then it seems you get contradicting advice all the time anyway.

So anyway because I was told that it just kinda made me paranoid so it tough luck on my OH no sex for him 😂

BunchOfBobs · 08/12/2015 18:07

So these cramps people speak of. Are they supposed to feel like period cramps/ovulation pain/a stitch? I've had them all day and like a PP have been knocked checking just expecting AF to rock up any moment and back ache to boot. All normal?

AlfieTheRailwayCat · 08/12/2015 19:05

bunch my cramps feel like AF arriving and so far it hasn't. It's nerve wracking but I am sure it is totally normal!
lily I think you should call too, you definetly need to get more than a pint of water in you. Have you tried dry crackers or salted crisps, popcor, white rice? Just something to line your stomach would helps e nausea I am sure.

alduxbury · 08/12/2015 19:09

Period maths is irritating the life out of me. Utilising period maths, I'll be 6+6 tommorrow but I have a long cycle and reckon I ovulated / conceived week commencing 11/11 which actually means in real time I'm 4 weeks tomorrow. I'm with the practice nurse tomorrow who will refer me to midwife so will see what they say. Have no idea what to base my symptoms on and so keep freaking out when I'm not checking all the symptoms off the weeks list off. I only have one more test left and know I'll do it tomorrow before the doctors. Still keep checking for bleeds (feel incredibly unhinged for doing so mind you). Keep telling myself out of the fact that my few and far between waves of nausea are morning sickness but ended up dry heaving on the motorway this morning, whilst driving so I think this is the start of it. My bloating is ridiculous - I look pregnant and I really shouldn't at this stage. Boob ache has eased a bit but I am constantly wearing sports bras which I think is helping. My poor husband.....

Hope everyone is okay and feeling more positive and less unhinged the further we all get! x

PickleBot · 08/12/2015 19:54

alduxbury the NHS due date calculator lets you adjust for cycle length, what does that say?

Biscuitswithtea · 08/12/2015 20:27

Alduxbury I would guess that if you have an idea of ovulation then that will give you a more accurate timeline. The calculators are based on an average cycle length (which you can sometimes adjust) and an average ovulation point too. I think that's why ds's due date was changed so dramatically last time as my body wasn't feeling very average!
