about a sz 10 pre baby
I am strugglign with mat jeans, I have no hips, over the bump jeans irritate under my boobs, adjustable waistbands rub my waist and do not keep my trousers up.
I'm resigned to long skirts and boots for the enxt few months I think. And with big norks as well the maternity tops are too short - after coping with a bump and boobs.

i shall have to do half a reply then read the rest of the posts after

rainbow-good to hear from you.i felt exactly the same in my last pg,in the last 3 months i didnt go near my pc,i didnt listen to music, basically i just looked after the kids then laid on the setee watching crap on the telly till i was tired enough to go to bed(and usually stuffing my face as well).i just focused all my energy on growing the baby knowing that i could start moving on with my life once she'd come along.i too had that awful thing of having to rely on a wanker ex-p who thought it was great that i needed him().i rationalised it by telling myself i was using him while i had no other option, and would turn round and tell him to eff off once i'd got back on my feet.which i did.
you will start to feel like yourself again once youve had the baby.believe me!

fox-i know very little about pcs myself.i just asked dp in passing about the probs you were having, and he made sure i told him exactly what i was typing in case i got it wrong.he has a degree in computer programming.i didnt even know how to switch a computer on when i first got one 2.5 years ago.
ive heard bt broadband is s**te.im with tiscali now which apparantly was the best option for us?!it seems fine sofar and dp hasnt complained about it so it must be ok.

right,im going to read the rest now....

ive had the comments about not looking pg,but i got that last time till i was 7 months and went huge.then i got a few'blimey-are you having twins?' comments.thats what i hate about this stage of prg, people can tell, and think its perfectly ok to make rude comments about the amout of children i have, how young dd2 is,and then the size of my bump/bum /tits etc.
imagine if you just walked up to a random person in the street and said 'blimey, youve got a fat arse ,havent you?'-youd get a slap!sp why is it ok to comment on pregnant womens' size?!

i'll stop ranting now

rainbow-strep b screening isnt offered where i am.i remember reading a sad story in a magazine about a woman who didnt knw she had that.it said the test only costs the nhs about £32 or something.i would be willing to pay that for peace of mind!

im seeing the consultant tomorrow.ive got a nasty headache which had better be gone by the morning cos i cant be bothered with my blood pressure playing up already.

" from co-worker.. i wasn't amused at all. diva u are right, people just come right out with their thoughts when they see a pregnant woman. how rude!

Hiya girls

God I'm glad this group exists. It's great to hear people say exactly what is happening to me or what I'm thinking.

Rainbowgirl, nice to hear back from you even though things are not so great. Hugs.

I seem to have lost the ability to sleep. Didn't go off until after 4.30am. It's very annoying - I'm in at 6.30 tomorrow so am praying I get a bit tonight (and the sleep ).

I've got my leaving date sorted for work, Feb 9 - roll on, can't wait. Am taking three weeks annual leave before I start mat leave four days before the baby's due..! Anyone else decided when to finish?

Oh, if anyone's interested, there's an NCT report out based on Office of National Statistics figures about home births rising in the UK - Wales has the highest rise apparently which the NCT says is because of good policies towards it. My MWs have certainly been supportive so maybe they're right.

One of my lovely friends is calling this morning to help me clean!

I have a midwife appointment this afternoon. Though not in the mood to have to drag myself and kids along, but has to be done. I can't be bothered to go anywhere these days! I feel so cumbersome. and still got to get much bigger yet! sigh.

Well good morning everybody!!

Rainbowgirl it's so nice to hear from you again. What anti-d's were you on? I ask only because when dh suffered from depression, he was on Seroxat. When he took himself off them it actually made his depression much worse than it had been before for about a month. But it did pass. He was a lot better off off them, iyswim. So if you were on SSRIs it could be something similar?

As for Strep B tests, no we don't have them either.

Foxy, have I told you the only reason I'm having Bertie is so that I have an excuse to buy Doctor Who Magazine and other assorted paraphernalia?

AmieR what happened in Wisconsin? I can't watch the news atm, it's so sad about those girls in Ipswich, it just makes me cry

Callieco, yes I am watching the cricket, went to bed last night at half eight so I could wake up really early, but I was gutted 'cos I was having my shower at seven o'clock and all I could hear was dh shouting from the living room "come on Monty you effing beauty"!!!!

Impressed that you are swimming! Our local baths is horrid, we have a hotel (a Hilton, no less, everyone is dead shocked when I say that St Helens has a Hilton!) with a baths and gym in it, but you can't join just the baths, you have to pay for the whole thing. Christmas is coming though.......

Rosy glad you got a good night's sleep. You are so right about coming on here, it's boss, especially for a first timer like me, had so much useful advice!!!

Kitty / Diva / Eids, re: comments about size, I will make you all I had a client come to see me yesterday pm and he said "gosh msmoss you look amazing, even slimmer than you did before!". (He was lying of course, I've always been a size 16 and have now even got a fat face, but sometimes you just want someone to lie to you!!)

Piffle, cheese & crackers cravings? That's almost (although not quite) as boring as me craving sparkling water!! Doesn't anyone crave really exotic / unusual food combinations? Or is that just an old wives' tale?

Spongecake I know what you mean about a stroll turning into a march! I walk to the station (used to be ten mins, now takes at least fifteen), then half an hour on the train, then another walk to work (used to be fifteen mins, now takes twenty at least). It feels like such an effort to actually get to work that by the time I get in work I'm knackered!

I'm going to try and get out of doing the late nights in the NY (normal hours are 830-6, but on a Tuesday we do 830-8). Hmm. What are the chances ?

Better go and pretend to do some work now. Darth Vader isn't in yet but he will be soon!!!!

Sorry if I've missed anyone!!!

I got up a little early yawns to watch some of the cricket. Good start that, and yay for Monty! 5 WICKETS! Good way to shut the critics up!

Sparkling water.. wow that is exciting! Mine at the moment is mint aero, not very exotic sorry!

Moss - Must have happened a few years back, it was on that Pissed and pregnant program I watched. Basically a woman went into a bar in Wisconsin, and Ordered a white russian, then she sat and drank that, and ordered another. During this time she told the barman she was pregnant (apparently she was wearing a big sports jacket) and the barman told their boss, and he went over and took the second White Russian away from her. She kicked off, and ended up going into labour. Baby was born and was taken away from her straight away, and then she was charged for the attempted homicide of her unborn child.

In some states, women are "expected" to live as if they're always trying for a baby, so are frowned upon and criticised for having a drink.

All in all I thought the program had some valid points, but I think they should wait till more research is done into the effects of drinking certain amounts through pregnanacy, before trying to scaremonger. There was a lot of comments like "Could be this"and "is associated" rather than actual facts and proof. No one really knew what the actual guidelines were.

Attempting to heave my bum off to aquanaetal tonight for the first time. Got to try on cossie first. It was pretty big for me before pregnancy so I'm hoping it s the right size, if not I'll order one!

Hi everyone

Moss - boys toys are great fun. Thinking of starting a Dr Who trading cards thread

Rainbow - Hi its great to see you on here - was thinking about you this morning. This is a terrible time in your life, but you will come through it and be able to look back on it. We're always here when you want to talk.

Rosy - I know nowt about computers; i just turn mine on at the on switch and put the petrol in, so am finding it quite challenging trying to sortout its current illness. If I don't get it dorted by new year, will deffo buy a new on in Jan sales though

Kitty - it really pees me off that people feel they have to comment on our bumps. I get about 10 comments a day and they all annoy me - even the positive ones. My boss said the other day "you're looking great" which did cheer me up though, as I was feeling pants. Agree with you re willy comments LOL!

Callie, will look at the NCT report.

Hi everyone else

Was supposed to go out with my local MN group last night but was too cream crackered

AmieR I hadn't heard about that story in particular, but I had heard about women being advised to consider themselves "pre-pregnant" if they are of "childbearing age" (which is what, precisely? Didn't someone recently have a baby in her sixties?)

I could see the wisdom behind it, a little, I suppose, if anyone ever said to blokes to consider themselves "pre-fathers", after all the father's lifestyle must have some effect on his sperm?

Anyway I'll just put the flames out, I don't really want to burn my lovely new Katie Price bra!

Foxy go ahead start your thread! I started a thread on the cricket which I thought no one would post on but I was pleasantly surprised!!

Stupid thing about all the 'don't do this, do that" preg police is that the whole story will change ina few years time. In my opinion a little of anything doesn't do you or baby any harm.
Saying that I scoffed a whole large block of brie yesterday .
It was so yummy I couldn't stop 'till it had all gone. I took great pleasure in eating something that I supposedly shouldn't , but hey, that's just my personality through and through really. I don't like being advised or told anything.

I'm off for an indian head massage this morning, looking forward to that one.

Foxy, you should start a trading thread

Mossy, I reckon you should do some heavy breathing when Darth Vader comes around. All due tp pregnancy of course

Anyone else burping like mad? I am and it's sooooo annoying. I can't help it, great big belches

Kitty, jealous of your Indian head massage.

A colleague has brought in a tin of Quality Street and whaddya know, somebody has positioned them on the end of my desk cos I'm sort of the halfway point in the office. Now isn't that thoughtful... Unfortunately that was just after I'd bought a pain au chocolat to treat myself . I've had that and two chocs and I already feel sick but I've got another three lined up in front of my keyboard regardless.

kitty exactly
I watched that pissed and pregnant prog - thought it was slightly sensationalised pseudo journalism actually.
WE all know about women who lash it whether through alcoholism or immaturity - unbale to separate social life from booze etc
But what about the little bit they touched on briefly
Mums who drink at home, the glass of wine daily etc
They did not focus enough on that IMO
With ds I did not know I was pregnant til 10 weeks, my dp and I ere in a band, we played in Irish bars 5 nights a week. WE drunk not excessively, but 3-4 pints during the night and a nightcap. I was gutted when I foudn otu and went on the biggest guilt trip and health kick known to mankind. Hey ds is a genius.

with dd, did pre conception diet, cut out booze etc from the off. Had cravings for lager from when the hyperemesis ended at 27 wks, had ONE mouthful/taste a few times a a week to sate cravings - prob did not equal half a pint the whole time combined as I was so paranoid.
Dd was born with rare genetic syndrome
And you just go oh for heavens sake.
This time
I've had the odd very small glass of wine/half Guiness (I do know my units) some pate freshly made, I will eat brie and camembert over xmas.
And I will not feel guilty... Nope.

Anyway 3 cheers for Monty P . what a great bowler and what a lovely lovely man, a role model for all young kids who like cricket.
I dedicate the bags under my eyes to him and delcare it worthwhile to be this tired.

oh growth scan 2 Jan - do has no idea I'm having another scan, I'm goijng to ask the sex and not tell him or let on.
Sneaky huh.

AmieR · 14/12/2006 11:36

I thought the one medical guy really sensationalised it, but I guess he was just trying ot make his point. But like you Piffle I was left feeling a bit empty by the lack of what occurs to women who do drink in "moderation" I think I've had on average.... 2 and a bit units a week, but thats spread out, not every week. They just briefly touched on the foetus spasm thing... cheers! How helpful!

I just think myabe investing in my research before scaremongering is really needed.

Spooky Callie, one of the reps has just bought in a tin of Quality Street to us too! I'm on my third.. think I could manage a few more!

hi all.

i cant believe that crap about women being 'pre-pregnant' in some parts of america!as though thats all we were put on this earth for.i drank in my first 3 pregnancies,i didnt think anything of it.ive hardly drunk this time cos i just cant be bothered and it gives me heartburn.
youre not allowed to drink alchohol when you are pregnant but when you are in labour they are allowed to pump you full of all the drugs under the sun

had my hospital appt this morning.my bp had gone upso they took lots of blood off me and ive got to go to the labour ward tomorrow to get the results and get my bp checked again.i also have to go back to the clinic next week to see the consultant and have a scan.isnt that going to be fun with all the children off school!

moss-i dont get wierd food cravings but im gradually eating my way through my second bath sponge.ive had it with every preg from about week 20.i think i ate about 7 or 8 altogether last time

hope everybody else is ok.

Geordiemacmincepie brilliant name.

Diva I can't believe you are eating a bath sponge! You're so pregnant! Big fat bummer about your bp though. Maybe an indian head massage would help you?

I'm just really mad about grapefruit juice and haven't had any constipation! so good craving I
reckon!

My friend was like Mary Poppins today. She cleaned the house and minded the kids while I went to mw. I couldn't remember my blood group, date of birth or phone number. had blood taken to check my iron. I didn't bring a urine sample so they left it. Bp ok. Bump measuring the right size, though at first mw thought it was my 16 week check6 weeks til next check up.

I've been drooling for forbidden cheese and resisted so far. Don't really drink nowadays anyway. I did have a half glass once or twice though.

Well Darth Vader came back and is as miserable a git as usual. I keep imagining squashing his little fat baldy head between my giant finger and thumb.

Oh hang on. These fingers are BIG. Whereas these are CLOSE UP. (Apologies to Father Ted). Got confused.

Kitty I think you're right, it will change in a few years. Although the way it is going, I could see pregnant women being kept on a diet of nothing but gluten-free wheat-free bread, and the occasional glass of water (in moderation)

A whole brie.... mmmmm.... sounds so nice. However I'd better not. I read in a magazine recently that pg women shouldn't do any painting or wallpaper stripping, stuff like that. I showed dh and have got out of doing lots of DIY as a result! If I suddenly started wolfing down brie and pate I think he might want me to pick up a paintbrush too !!

Piffle what is a growth scan? Is it just another name for the scan that you normally get at 18-20 weeks or is it another scan?

Diva hope everything is all right with your bp. Keeping my fingers crossed for you. As for eating bath sponges... are they dry or do they have to be marinated in bath water first??

Rosy your friend sounds so nice! Occasionally I arrive home to find the washing up done, all the doghair swept up and assorted magazine articles about pgcy left on the coffee table... mil is brill!

Two hours until home time........ I'm trying to sign my way through 450 chrimbo cards right now. Ah, the joys.

I think I get a growth scan because I have high sugar in my wee but no gestational diabetes, also as dd has rare genetic syndrome so they put me under consultant led care and he normally does a growth scan at 30 weeks - despite me being an actual low risk pregnancy and planned homebirth.
I'm 26 wks now so I'll be 28 wks ooops that doesn't add up LOL
