kittyschristmascrackers · 10/12/2006 14:04

Yeah there is life after the first birth and the second too, gets a bit dodgy after that, just toooooo knackered!!!!!!!

kiwibella · 10/12/2006 14:17

Kitty!!

Please, can someone tell me what NCT is?

Callie... I can see you are hard at work!!!

kiwibella · 10/12/2006 14:19

dh has got a roast on... am tempted by crumble and custard for desert now, too

kittyschristmascrackers · 10/12/2006 15:42

Sounds yummy Kiwi, we are having a roast too, yum. NCT is Natiuonal Childbirth Trust. They are an organsiation that supports preg women and mothers. They run antenatal classes and are very middle class and pro natural stuff.

Laidbackinamanger · 10/12/2006 16:20

Yeah.... this is the first time I have a food craving AND actually have the food !! Custard.... no crumble fruit (only mango, banana, pineapple )...so will just make do with simple custard

Hope everyone having a fairly chilled Sunday.

divastrop · 10/12/2006 16:22

hi...
yes there is life after birth..i still had a pretty active social life when i had 2 children,it wasnt too difficult to get out and about etc.

with 4 now i just dont care about going out ,i am waiting 8 years till dd1 can babysit the lo's and there is a slight chance i may have some energy when they are all at school.

kitty-ive forgotten how many sections and how many v.births you have had?

OP posts:
kittyschristmascrackers · 10/12/2006 18:05

Diva, I had 2 sections followed by three v. births.

Went for an hours bracing walk up over the downs this afternoon. i felt fine, but now my hips are really hurting, hopefully they'll be better after a night's rest.

OCalliecomeallyefaithful · 10/12/2006 20:19

Kiwi this is the NCT website if you want to know more. You have to pay for ante-natal classes but if you're low/no waged they will subsidise it or you can have it almost free. You are in the UK, aren't you?

Am home now, hurrah - my seven-day week is over and I have a whole day off tomorrow. Going to see the MW in the pm. Maybe I'll pull my head out of the sand and finally start Christmas shopping - after all, only two whole weeks to go. Moss, have you done anything yet? You gave me hope the other day by being as unprepared as me.

Muppet, if you are reading but not posting, I hope you and the kids are holding up ok after Friday.

MossletoeAndWine · 10/12/2006 20:39

Callieco, I have done nothing regarding chrimbo shopping, except I had to buy the secret santa for work because we all swapped on Friday. (My secret santa got me a talking tardis keyring which is great - it makes a tardis sound sometimes, and other times David Tennant talks to me )

I'm in work all this week, then I'm away on holiday for three days with dh (three days sans pets in a lovely hotel in Chester...mmmmmm, bliss!) and then it'll be time to get on a packed train to the 'pool and drag myself round shops filled with panic-buyers like myself without a clue what to buy... I do this every year as well.

Don't have a clue what to buy anyone either, really. Russell Brand DVD for dh, some book about being a grandma for mil, that's as far as I've got!

Will type more later, dh is about to serve tea!!!

DeckthehallswithboughsofDolly · 10/12/2006 21:10

Hi girls, hope you have had a good weekend .

First of all, Muppet, I am so sorry to hear about Alfie. I really was hoping to hear that he was OK and I am so sorry that you have all had to go through this so near to Christmas. I hope that Friday was peaceful for you and that you are all as OK as you can be in the circs. Thinking of you.

Diva, I am very sorry to hear DD has been poorly too. Hope she is now better and that you are getting a bit more rest. Haven't looked at any other threads but will do so shortly.

Hope everyone else is doing OK. Went to Jojo yesterday and checked out their mat clothes sale. Suffice it to say that even mat clothes make me look like a heifer. I put on so much weight last time but still had OK arms and legs. Now I have raw crumpets tacked to the outside of my legs and my arms are definitely wobbly. Know what you mean about tits resting on your tummy too. My bump is so high that it all kind of wodges together. Can't wait for it to drop - might make me piss myself when I move but at least there will be space between my boobs and the rest of me. My mat bra looks like a parachute harness(34H) and my normal bras hurt my boobs.

Moan, moan, moan. Sorry, am feeling a bit low at the moment and my glass is definitely half empty . Unlike my plate which is always groaning under the weight of too much food. I am going to have my dinner and will be back on tomorrow with a happy face and a positive attitude.

Love to all.

divastrop · 10/12/2006 21:22

dolly-we are all in the third trimester or near enough now,it is our right to moan

i went up to a 34G in my last pg so i can empathise with you a bit.im only a 34E now...dont know what happened cos they were a 32F by week 6??i still have back ache though and i still look like a sumo wrestler when naked

kitty-have you had any comments about having another baby so soon after the last one??ive had many people say 'oooh, that must have been a shock!'.to which ive replied 'er,no,it was planned actually' then i get 'you must be mad!'.i think ive had one 'congratulations' sofar.people are so nice.

OP posts:
kiwibella · 10/12/2006 21:55

thanks for the link, Callie!! I am in UK but we are both working... I'll definately check it out though. I don't fancy the trek to Whitechapel each Thursday evening.

I'm with you two who have done nada Christmas shopping - and, like you Moss, I think it's cause I have no idea!! I missed Santa's sleigh today... my sister left for NZ and was going to take dd's santa pressies with her (dd is off next week). Looks like I'll be smuggling them in her case, somehow.

Diva... how far apart are your children (re the comments). We are hopeful that we will conceive again shortly after this birth. Any tips too, I s'pose .

It's ok to have a bad day, Dolly. See you back with a smile on your dial.

kittyschristmascrackers · 10/12/2006 22:27

Dolly, keep your chin up. At least you've got boobs, I haven't , still,

Diva, you also seem to have an impressive pair there too. I blame it on my genes that I haven't .

Yes I've had comments, not so much about the age gap, but more about the sheer number of children being so young. I have had alot of the 'are you mad?' comments which I really find offensive and downright rude. Now I always get in there first and say how lovely I think it is to have a big family and how excited I am. They can't say much to that. To be honest I think people are so used to me being preg that it will come as a shock when I stop

TheBlonde · 10/12/2006 22:35

Another one fed up with bra size changes here, I'm on 36H at the mo. Only bought them a month back and they are too small already

Rosydingdongmerrily · 10/12/2006 22:37

My bras are uncomy round the body, seems my boobs are the same but my back is even wider I tried on maternity bras in m&s 38c felt too tight! Must be 40c what kind of a size is that?!

Kiwi, my course was fine art but included animation and film studies. The film was silent I think and slow motion close up of seeping fluids etc. Apparently I hadn't been the first to faint seeing the film. It was powerful. Bit weird though finding something so disturbing you pass out! I'm such a woose

I'm having trouble getting my shoes and socks on nowadays.
I've had some nagging about what sensible contraception I'm going to go on after this. Sometimes I can't resist saying I might have another in response!

27wks today (boy)

MossletoeAndWine · 11/12/2006 06:50

Sorry, I meant to come back after my tea, but I got talking to dh and then I was tired so I went to bed!

Interesting the discussion about bra sizes; I have always been quite big (32F) but have gone up to a 34G which I thought was a bit but by the sounds of it it's probably about average so it makes me feel a lot better.

Can't abide those maternity bras though. I'm afraid I went to the Asda at the weekend and bought two of those new Katie Price bras! They're actually quite nice, if you like pink! I know nearer the end I'll have to buy a "parachute" though (lol Dolly they do look like that don't they!)

Kitty & Diva at you getting snidey comments rather than congratulations! Having said that, this is only my first and I only got a congrats from two of my colleagues, the rest asked in shocked voices "was it planned"?

Funnily enough that was the conversation I was having with dh last night. We would like two (well, really I'd like three but we'll have to see - we only have a two bedroomed house so three would involve major room 'surgery'!) and were talking about the best time to try for a second. I think close together, but I'm not sure. What does everyone else think?

I know I keep going on and on about it, and have probably bored people half to tears, but I am really unsure about this birth centre vs hosi thing. So I am going to start a thread about it and get people's opinions. I'll come back when I've done it and do a link so if you do get chance, I'd be really grateful, but if not, don't worry.

Right better shower and get ready for work; last week before a very, very long holiday....!!!

MossletoeAndWine · 11/12/2006 06:59

here is my thread

harktheheraldfoxessing · 11/12/2006 09:31

Hi everyone

I'm having to rely on my work PC to look at MN now as my home PC is in serious trouble

I'm 38G by the way

Kiwi - I'm just going to two referesher classes at the hsopital.

Kitty love your spot on description of the nct. Lots of people like me are on normal public sector wages (don't qualify for an NCT discount) and find their fees extortionate, but hey, don't get me started. Mind you, they are good for meeting other (middle class) mums in your area .

Callie - crumble and custard - do you have a restaurant at work ?

Moss - your talking dalek keyring!!!

Sorry can't keep up with this thread - Dolly you still manage to keep your sense of humour, even when your down

Hope everyone is well...

28+1 (baby boy)

AmieR · 11/12/2006 10:42

Happy Monday to you all... Hope you're having better starts to the week than I am! But keep reminding myself that its all for a good reason and will be worth it in the end, its tough when you try to leave the house 3 times and have to dash back to vom, poor dog was so confused and wasn't enjoying being pulled in and out of the rain!

Bit concerend about the strain on my tummy when I'm being sick.

Ahh Bras! My boobs BALLOONED in the first trimester. DH thought it was great! Since then they've not done too much, thankfully. They were big enough to start off with.

I lost my feet this weekend, bump blocks the view!

as for food cravings.. I've not had any weird ones, but I've got a hunger for mint aeros at the moment! Sent DH to the garage at 11:45pm to get me a few and a mint magnum ice cream last night! He wasn't impressed but he went

I applied for NCT classes but they're all full round here. So I'm going along to the NHS ones, we're booked in for 1st and 8th of Feb. As according to the MW "you're bombarded with so much info, if you go soon, you won't remember it for when the big day comes". gulps

Kitty - have taken you up on your kind request on copying a dvd! Still haven't really thought about the birth part yet... I think I'm in denial!

awayinamuppet · 11/12/2006 10:46

Thanks to everyone for their kind words - Friday was pretty devastating. Poor little Alfie was carried into the consulting room on his side with drip in etc and was mewing like a cow. He was in so much pain.

Glad we got to say goodbye and the kids could realise that there really was no other option. My dh was a sobbing wreck and had to go out with the kids (he & Alf had a bit of a love thing going on). I stroked his head whilst the vet put the injection through his drip - it was really quick and peaceful.

Spent most of friday night sobbing - felt a real empty physical ache inside. Depressed most of weekend but this morning I am missing him the most. Keep expecting him to come and find me...

We are having him cremated and can scatter his ashes in the woods behind our house.

Anyhow, hope all of you are well. Very at your various bra sizes - despite the fact you are complaining. I am stuck at 34C - that's BIG for me!

27+2(boy)

harktheheraldfoxessing · 11/12/2006 12:08

Muppet - very for you and your family. It sounds as though you put Alfie out of a lot of pain, poor little fluff

kittyschristmascrackers · 11/12/2006 12:45

Poor you and your family Muppet
Glad to find another smaller chested friend though

Rosydingdongmerrily · 11/12/2006 13:17

So sad about Alfie but there was nothing else you could do. I hope the pain of it subsides soon for you all.

AmieR · 11/12/2006 13:19

Sorry about Alfie, Muppet. Better now his pain has stopped.

MossletoeAndWine · 11/12/2006 14:51

Foxy, it's a talking Tardis, not a talking Dalek... because I already have a Dalek keyring from last year (to make you even more )! Although it doesn't talk.

Amie sorry to hear you are still being sick!! I only get it now when I clean my teeth, or if I put something too big in my mouth ( no double entendres please! ). I now make sure that of a morning I clean my teeth before I've had my brekkie so that at least if I do heave not much comes up. Sorry if tmi!

Muppet I'm really sorry, what a horrible thing. Poor little fuzzball. Small consolation but at least he's out of pain now. I know what you mean about expecting him to come and find you.

The only way I ever got past losing any of our pets was by adopting another one. It's so early to think of that though. I hope you and your family find a way to still enjoy your Christmas. Thinking of you xxx
