Ah, I understand now. Hope the scan goes okay anyway Piffle.

Finished signing the chrimbo cards. Now only two minutes until home time. Feeling sick, exhausted, fed up and not looking forward to the walk to Lime Street!

But only one day after today and then I'm off, Off, OFF!!

divastrop · 14/12/2006 19:27

moss-i also have to have a growth scan ,mine is cos of my bp being high as it can cause slow growth of the baby(although it never affected any of my other babies,it was just me who had the problems!).the bath sponge has to be wet ,but it has to be cold so i do use fresh water.
there was a thread on cravings a while back and i wasnt the only one who'd experienced the bath sponge thing.

im off to start a new thread which will hopefully stop me exploding......

Why, what's happened Diva?

DeckthehallswithboughsofDolly · 14/12/2006 19:51

Hello girls, how are you all doing? I have the mother of all colds and feel pants. Nose like Rudolph's, dripping constantly, keep sneezing and coughing (which make me wee a bit ) and generally no use to man nor beast. DD also in poor nick, alas. She has got an extra day at nursery tomorrow as I am working on Sat. Hope she is well enough to go.....

Anyone heard from Booboo? She's not been on for a while. I'll send her a text but just wondered if anyone had seen her on another thread.

Group B strep - you can order a private test yourself for this from the Dr's laboratory (I can't do the link but it'll come up when you google it). It's the test recommended by the group b strep society (www.gbss.org.uk I think) and you either do it yourself or get your MW to do it at 35 -37 weeks. It's a vaginal swab which you send back to them and they let you know in 48 hours if you have it. We don't get routine tests for it here but I discovered I was GBS positive when I had a vag swab at about 10 weeks for something else. think it is shocking that you have to pay for a test which is simple and yet lifesaving for the baby. I think it was about £35 2 years ago.

Hugeness - I am with you ladies. My bump apparently measures OK for dates but I look vast. The groping has started with people at work putting their hands on my tummy and giving it a rub. Maybe I should goose them back and see how they like it? Don't mind if people ask first but it's not a free for all. Excess fluid can make your bump a lot larger. I had it last time and looked as if I had a space hopper hidden up there. Usually just one of those things though - I had lots of scans and it increased until I was fit to burst. The consultant said to me that if my waters went it would be spectacular and I shoudl get to hosp asap but other than that it was fine. When my waters were broken though I thought both DH and the MW might drown as it pumped out for about 15 minutes .

Sorry about your BP Diva. That's the last thing you need, esp with the children off school.

Saw my MW yesterday and she told me that I couldn't have my blood tests as I,m not 26 weeks so I'd have to come back. I burst into tears as I'd been waiting for 1 1/2 hours and they had rearranged the appt not me. In the end she said the GP could do them. Wish I hadn't gone. She did say that the consultant would definitely let me have a section though which was great as I had dreamt that I was turned down and it upset me hugely. She kept telling me to rest but it's so hard with job, toddler, house etc etc.

Hope all is well with everyone. Big hugs. XXXX

TheBlonde · 14/12/2006 20:06

Hi gang

I think I'm going to have a Xmas panic tomorrow as everyone keeps talking about it and it's really close. Still need to shop. Meant to go last weekend but felt too tired and fat!

Had an Obs checkup today. All okay but I think my BP sounded low 90/50 when it's usually 110/70. Doc didn't say anything I just noticed when I checked my notes at home.
Anyone know anything about BP??

(27+2)

MossletoeAndWine · 14/12/2006 21:02

Diva, have just posted on your thread, hope it helps. Sorry you're feeling down.

Dolly how horrid for you having a cold, as if you're not zapped of energy enough already! It's annoying too 'cos you're not supposed to take decongestants, unless this changes after twelve weeks, not sure. Hope you're feeling better soon.

TheBlonde I'm in the no chrimbo shopping camp too. Don't even know what to buy people yet! However I am dragging dh round the 'pool with me this year. Normally I do it on my own but at the very least he can be a shopping caddy!

I don't know much about bp, but I know mine is low at the mo, I have come close to fainting twice, and apparently low bp's why. Doctor says it's normal though at this stage of pgcy.

Had a good cry when I got in about how crappy work is and suddenly feel much better. Talk about losing perspective - suddenly realised I've only one day to go until NY!!!!

Did find my first stretch mark today. So much for daily moisturising! Ah well, I was never going to be Demi Moore, better give up the dream.

divastrop · 14/12/2006 21:29

moss-thanks

dp is posting on there now

kitty-its the online gaming one on relationships.

theblonde-normal bp is 120/80,i think 110/70 is quite normal for this stage of pregnancy as its supposed to drop a bit around now.
mine was 138/99,they didnt like that

Morning all,
It's my last day in work today before the New Year. YES! Having said that England are 155 for 8. NO!
Anyone else found that their musical tastes have gone out of the window? I've just moved loads of trendy and funky tunes off my ipod and replaced them with The Best Christmas Album in the World... Ever, and with 66, yes, sixty six Abba tunes.

kittyschristmascrackers · 15/12/2006 06:56

Mossy did you do the heavy Darth Vader breathing when HE came around? Enjoy your last day, eat lots of chocs and do no work, that's what I say

MossletoeAndWine · 15/12/2006 08:25

Kitty I certainly did! Actually it wasn't made up either, I really am that out of breath atm

Having said that, the Big Boss (or Emperor Palpatine as I like to call him is in this morning. So at the very least I need to pretend to do some work...

Hope you're okay, speak to you tomoz! xx

harktheheraldfoxessing · 15/12/2006 09:37

Hi there

Just popping in 4 a quickie!

Moss you lucky thing, enjoy your last day. I've got to struggle on until next Thursday..We have our team lunch today, then the company one next Weds.

I have low blood pressure and had to have iron supplements with DD too. Tends to be worse if the atmosphere is hot and stuffy.

Diva will check out Ur thread... (trots off)

AmieR · 15/12/2006 10:16

My BP's always been high in the past, but no one has battered an eyelid at it during my PG! I'll check my notes, all 3 visits its been 130/80.

No idea what that means!

awayinamuppet · 15/12/2006 11:38

Hello to everyone - glad we are all suffering through the same comments from the general public who feel compelled to tell us how pregnant we look.

As I walked down the drive to my car this morning the postman had just turned up, so I went over to take our mail and he actually POKED me in the side of my bump and asked when I was due.

I was so stunned I wish I'd had the balls to ask him not to POKE me!!!

I then went to watch ds in his nativity - the hall was already full - not ONE SINGLE MAN (or woman) stood up to offer me their chair. In the end another mother walked off down the corridor (halfway through play) to get me a chair from elsewhere as I was standing at the back next to a radiator about to pass out from the heat!!!

People!!! ARGGGHHH!!!

27+6 (boy)

harktheheraldfoxessing · 15/12/2006 11:48

Muppet

I always announce in a very loud voice "Hulloo, I'm ** months PG - please could someone let me sit down please???". People are so rude, they need to be told sometimes

I used to feel reticent about it but nowadays can't give a stuff what people think.

My friend who is also PG has one of those "baby on board badges" for commuting the tube each day and people still ignore her, so she always has to ask for a seat

AmieR · 15/12/2006 12:01

I've not had any comments or pokes... not sure how I how I feel about that!

But I can't beleive no one offered a chair up for you, Muppet. What's going on with people these days?

harktheheraldfoxessing · 15/12/2006 12:15

We're about to head off for our team Chrissie lunch. My BT broadband connection at home has completely gone now, so may not be online over the weekend if I cannot get it sorted

Have a brill weekend if I don't get to drop in and chat!!

divastrop · 15/12/2006 12:30

the postman poked you in the bump????
get the police, get him done for assault!!people!

amie-the bottom number on your bp is the most important,if it goes above 90 they start to get concerned(or if it rises by 10 points or more above what is normal for you towards the end of the pregnancy).

mine was only 121/73 this morning.im sure it depends what type of machine they use,as its always high on those little electronic ones.saying that,i feel like a great weight has been lifted from me since i posted that thread last night

my bp went up at 28 weeks with dd2 ,then back down again till week 34,so maybe the same thing is happening this time.

hope everybodys ok

Hi ladies! Long time no post.

(Thanks for thinking of me Dolly, you poor, poorly thing. Let me know when you want to come over for that cake!).

This time of year is really frantic for me at school, this year more than most as I'm trying to prep things so I won't have to be there much from January, hence the absence.

I've also just remembered that I haven't applied for my government maternity benefit. Sh*t. Do you think I've missed the boat? Will check after I've posted.

Glad to hear most of you sound ok. Rainbow: glad you're still posting. We all want to support you (as far as we can online).

Must dash - life is mad. Can't wait 'til Christmas when I can just stop!

Jayglebellsjayglebells · 15/12/2006 14:27

hiya all, hows it oging. I am still alive but just never get chance to come on here at all, sooo different from my last pregnancy, when i was on it all the time!

Hope everyone is ok and not suffering too much. My SPD has come back with avengence and i also had a bout of sciatica all last week, no fun what so ever i tell you.

Went to have my ANTI-D injection yesterday but the hospital apparently had got it down for next week, so have to go back then for it....grr did have a listen in on 'the boys' ( as we are calling him)heartbeat, which was strong so that was good. Blood pressure up to 140/85 so high going on past times ( normally quite low at 100/60) but she wasnt concerned. I have been getting really bad heart palputaions thoug, that last for hours rather than minutes, anyone else had this? Also she did the fundal height mesurement which came out at 34cm.... 4cm over my weeks ( 28 wks today) she seems to think i am having a large baby! this was also the case when i had my 4D scan at the weekend. Apparently 'the boy' has really long legs and feet! It was a great scan though and we saw everything so clearly-pics are on our site here
and the good news is that my placenta has moved round YAY!! There has to be a 2cm gap from the end of the placenta to the birth canal, well mine is showing a measurment of about 4cm!!!! so hope to all those others out there with naughty placentas!

Anyway shall love you and leave you for a bit, am going to try and catch up on a whole heap of things! one being to read the thread!

kittyschristmascrackers · 15/12/2006 14:58

The pics are lovely jay, I like the one of his boys bits, bet his daddy was pleased with that shot!!!!

Rosydingdongmerrily · 15/12/2006 15:31

Jay the pictures are amazing! One of my close friends gets a hyperactive thyroid from pregnancy which causes her heart to race, just wondering if you've been checked for that?

MossletoeAndWine · 15/12/2006 17:29

Foxy hope your chrissie dinner goes okay!

Muppet, how rude of the postie to poke you ! I don't mind people copping a feel (of the bump that is) if they ask first. If they don't I say "ow!!" and look like they've hurt me. They don't do it again!!

On the train the other night on the way home some drunk old fella came up to me and asked me how long I had left to go. I said I was due in March. He then turned and whispered (what he thought was a whisper) to his friends "she's due in Merch. Eh though, eh though, I 'ad nowt do do wi'it!" Eugh! Turned back to me and smiled, then turned to his friends and in the same 'whisper' said "Eee, but ah would tho'" Eugh no you wouldn't you horrid little drunkard get the hell away from me!!!!!!

Thankfully dh gave me the nice surprise of turning up at the station to give me a lift home (it's only ten mins walk but I'm not complaining) so I managed to avoid Mr Charm.

Booboo really nice to hear from you again and glad you are okay!! When do you break up for chrimbo?

Jay I am so impressed by your pictures!! Did it cost very much to have them done?

I got out of work early today because I wasn't feeling well. It means I only get half pay for the two hours I wasn't there, but tbh I just needed out... and now that's IT until the New Year!!!!

OCalliecomeallyefaithful · 15/12/2006 21:27

Hello all,

Dolly, bad luck with the cold. Not what you need at all.

Diva, hope your blood pressure stays down.

I've started Christmas shopping finally. I've got my mum's and after about three hours fretting in Toys-r-us, managed to finally decide three out of four nieces/nephew's presents. When I saw the amount of stuff loaded into some people's trolleys, I felt for all of you with children - how do you cope at this time of year??? We've got some decs up now and I think we're getting the tree tomorrow. Still don't feel very Christmassy though.

Boo, do you have to apply for government mat benefit because you're self-employed? People don't have to do it if they're working for someone else do they? What about child benefit by the way - when do you do that? Does anyone know also, if you take additional mat leave after six months, are there any benefits you can apply for?

28+1

TheBlonde · 15/12/2006 21:49

Callie - if you work for an employer you just have to give them your MATB1 form that the midwife fills in for you. There is a deadline for it - I think it's 15 weeks before you are due so about 25 weeks pg

Child benefit you apply for after the LO arrives - you need the birth cert to apply so you have to register the birth first

If you take AML you can probably apply for other benefits depending on your household income - tax credits etc

MossletoeAndWine · 16/12/2006 07:35

Callieco, I thought you could apply for child tax credits from when baby's born? And then if you take AML they go up because you're not earning anything? I'm a little unsure on it all!!

Still haven't bought prezzies, although I did get dh's prezzie for his female colleague, as he really didn't have a clue (not that I'm loads better btw, but I noticed she had very funky hair so bought her some posh hair care stuff which she seemed to like). Apart from that.... well, we've people round today, tomorrow dh and mil are doing some work on the nursery and then on Monday we're dropping the dm's (dear mutts!!) off at the kennels and it's away to Chester for three days.... yippee!!!
