Good luck with the search for a cotbed too! Am sure that as you will be childfree you wont feel QUITE so tired!

Rosylily · 10/01/2007 05:45

I'll just have to have lots of coffees and cakes! Then hopefully manage to enjoy my day and collapse later. Think it would be fun to get face paints out and everyone paint the bump and take pictures for posterity, that would be a child friendly mother blessing!

When my sis was pregnant she took loads of pictures of herself in ever increasingly ridiculous outfits
Anyway I'm off to try and get another hour, hope you can sleep a bit too!

Jaysecond · 10/01/2007 05:47

yeah am off back too, see if i cant wake DH up so he can massage my back while i fall into sleep.....ooops i must be dreaming already! night night

Morning all

Haven't done a birth plan yet. I'm waiting for the ante natal classes before I do. I'm one of those people who can't go up to the local Spar without a shopping list and tend to plan everything to the nth detail so I'm going to have to be careful I don't turn it into a ten page essay

Although Diva have to say I love your plan. I might give that a go. I've never been a size ten in my life so I'll especially be looking forward to that possibility

Jay / Rosy hope you two managed to get some sleep in the end!!

Toast, coffee and a choccie chip muffin for me now!

37 working days to go!

had thought about getting my ideas down on birthplan although with a c-section some things go without saying.

eidsvold · 10/01/2007 07:00

actually my antenatal notes have a while a4 page dedicated to your birthplan - some tick the box things and some lines to write what you need to.

LaidbacktoEnglandsoon · 10/01/2007 09:00

Congratulations Callie and Jon - hope your little man is feeding well and in good health - my Dh's cousin had her baby at 31 weeks and weighed 3lb 1oz and he is now doing really well. Lots of new baby love to you all

foxabout2pop · 10/01/2007 09:19

Colin Firth - wwwhhhhooooaaarrrr!!!!

3rdTriMossTer · 10/01/2007 09:51

Foxy, please, please go and post on my Doctor Who thread; I'm a bit out on a limb there you know, it's in Telly Addicts! I'll do a link if you can't find it!

Looked at my naked form in the full length mirror this morning, and realised I am developing stretch marks.

Naively I thought I would avoid them because I moisturise liberally every day, but clearly not.

I'm not 100% sure how I feel about it actually. It's a bit of a first for me: I'm lucky enough to have never had poor body image or been depressed about the way I look. (Not because I'm gorgeous! I'm a big lady and I don't make much of an effort most of the time but I'm confident, cheerful, and huge boobies and avoid clothes that emphasise my bum rather than my chest!)

But having lots of red lines over my already large tummy has actually made me feel, for the first time, really quite - well I can't put it into words, perhaps humiliated is close, iyswim?

I suppose lots of women and some men feel like that all the time, no matter how good or otherwise they look.

Anyway enough of my moaning. I had better get on with some work!!

foxabout2pop · 10/01/2007 10:22

Have done Moss and congrats for starting it.

muppetisacat · 10/01/2007 11:35

Well done to Jay's little one - I can't remember much about my two when they were that small - but I have memories of it being quite tiring physically.

Can't believe how many TV boyfriends you all have... I don't think I can think of anyone on telly... I'm holding out for Joaquin Phoenix - but only if he dresses in a toga and orders men to their deaths in the gladiatorial way (now THAT is alarming!)

Have decided to get a mountain buggy urban for the lo - seems rugged enough to cope with my daily dog excursions - anyone ever had one?

3rdTriMossTer · 10/01/2007 11:37

Started a thread about stretch marks and am now feeling a bit less bothered about it.

Foxy thanks for posting on my DW thread!!!

Leoladyofleisure · 10/01/2007 11:37

Aaargh a few days away and I am lost here again! So I've read the last post and I'm jumping back in.

Moss, I am/was very sporty, slim with extremely good stomach muscles and a very flat stomach when I got pregnant with ds (and had a very good body image). Oiled and creamed excessively but the skin on my stomach gave up a week before he was born. Was very, very upset about it and couldn't bring myself to wear a bikini again and got obsessed with staring at mum's tummies in the swimming pool and on beach to see if anyone with stretchmarks did. This time around it seems much less important, maybe because i've got them now and know with twins they are just going to get worse (and they are already). Its funny, NONE of my closest friends with babies have got stretchmarks, my mum has horrendous ones and both my sisters have them as well. I just don't think there is anything you can do to prevent them. I also feel/felt really embarrassed about them, but not sure why though.

I have to say that at teh moment I am feeling fantastic physically and mentally. DS is being an absolute angel and now that I'm not working I feel so much better as I can get as much rest as I need when I need it ! I am hungry ALL the time now!

Piffle · 10/01/2007 11:38

wow callie and jon!
congrats hope everything is ok!

3rdTriMossTer · 10/01/2007 11:39

Hi Muppet,

I never had so many TV fellas before I got pg, think it's hormonal, that's my excuse anyway.

Joaquin Phoenix is quite nice actually now you come to mention it.

Think I might go and stand outside in the freezing cold rain by way of a shower actually.

Or I could just get on with my work I suppose.

3rdTriMossTer · 10/01/2007 12:01

Leo thanks, posted on the other thread.

sexkittyinwaiting · 10/01/2007 12:03

Moss, as far as I understand there is nothing you can do to stop stretchmarks. It has to do with the elsatine or something in your skin and that is something you inherrit. Some skin is more stretchy. No amount of moisturising, not moisturing is going to make any difference.
Think of them as lovely mummy marks

3rdTriMossTer · 10/01/2007 12:06

Kitty, I like the phrase "mummy marks", I will try and work it into my mantra (see other thread)

eidsvold · 10/01/2007 12:39

moss - i got no stretchmarks with dd1 but she was just 6lb 1/2 oz. Got tonnes with dd2 - she was a whopper 9lb 7oz and she grew fast in my belly. It was all baby whereas with dd1 I just looked rounder.

This time round - more stretchmarks - oh joy. No problem figure they are my badge of motherhood!!

Booboobedoo · 10/01/2007 13:21

My stretchmarks started a couple of weeks ago. Don't know why, but I'm not really bothered. I suppose it's because I got my first set going through puberty. They're all silvery and fine now, and I really don't notice them. I think of mine as battle scars.

Felt like the hugest one at my NCT class last night, though! There were 6 couples, and everyone seemed like a really good laugh. We're all around the same age, and all having our first. I reckon I've put on at least 3 and a half stone now, and other girls there were moaning about having put on 2. Felt like a right lard-arse - particularly as I've managed to stay a size 10 for ages through sheer determination!

Rosy and Jay: one thing I learned last night was that being wide-awake at stupid-o'clock in the morning is a side-effect of the endorphins that help us feel better the rest of the time. I was awake most of the night - should have got up and chatted .

Kitty: Rufus Sewell used to belong to the same theatre group as my parents (although he's quite lot younger than them). He used to live around Twickenham/Teddington, and I used to see him in the pub. He's bloody gorgeous: very tall.

I love my TV boyfriends. It used to bother DH, until I explained to him that I had them instead of having crushes on real people (no offence to DT et al). He's my only real-live crush, obviously .

I didn't get any strech marks with either DS or DD and reckon my tummy is so paunchy now that being PG doesn't stretch it that much anyway

er.. touch wood

sexkittyinwaiting · 10/01/2007 13:54

I've got no stretchmarks either, my mum didn't have any, thinks it's a family thing.

OOOOOOOOOH Boo, he is SOOOOOOO lovely. Did you dribble when you saw him? I would have, God. He has THE most beautiful eyes (big sigh)

3rdTriMossTer · 10/01/2007 14:03

Hmm, one of the very few disadvantages of my Mum not being "in my life" as it were, is that I can't ask her whether she got stretchmarks / whether I was born early/late/on time/etc, those sort of genetic questions iyswim.

Booboo most of my TV boyfriends are quite geeky, when dh gets grumpy I ask him if he'd prefer it if I fancied the likes of Brad Pitt. It's like, I don't mind if his TV girlfriends are big boobed blondes ('cos I am one) but if he starts fancying anyone else I have to start asking questions!

DeckthehallswithboughsofDolly · 10/01/2007 14:15

Hello everyone

I tried to post last night and wrote for about 1/2 hour but my computer at home crashed and lost it all! I thought I would spend some time at work doing it instead as I can't concentrate for proper work. I too am on the countdown out of here. I am working until the bitter end to maximise the £££ but will work from home from about 34 weeks. then I should have even more time to lurk on the thread.

Massive congratulations to Callie and Jon. This has made me realise that I am having one too, which I had sort of forgotten! I am so used to being pg and looking after DD that the end result of another baby sort of passed me by. Oh well, better get with it again.

Moss, you share your birthday with my DD. She'll be 2 when you are 30. I'll be on the fast track to 38 . I have found this pg harder than the last which could be my age. God knows how i'll cope if we go for no 3!

My birth plan last time was very short and didn't get followed at all. I wanted to be drug free but was induced and ended up crying for drugs from about 1 cm. I won't need one this time as I will have a planned C Section but think it is a good idea to have a think about anything you definitely don't want to happen. Students were my thing - didn't want a trainee Dr using me as a practice so put that in the birth plan. In the end a fairly junior bod did my section (under the supervision of a registrar) and he did a lovely job. Scar is a bit wonky but it all healed very well.

Stretch marks - I have LOADS from puberty which are now faded to white. They don't tan though which is a pain for some people, but I have given up tanning now anyway. I don't have any from this PG yet though. With DD, I only got one which was a harry potter lightning flash on the bump. Made everyone laugh every time I got it out, which was quite cheery. I think because I too was super lardy when young that my skin knows the way and just goes there now without stretching. I agree with Kitty though that you can't put anything on to stop them. You are either born stretchy or you will mark. Still, as mummy medals go there are worse ones (anyone else got piles????)

Can I ask a quick Q - has anyone dealt with a jealous baby while BF? I fed DD1 (god that feels weird - first time she's not just DD!) until she was 18 months then she self weaned. She saw a friend BF yesterday and tried to get me to BF her. She will be 23 months when DD2 arrives. I am afraid tandem feeding just isn't me. Anyone got any advice? SOrry, I realise that it is a bit cheeky to ask for help when I haven't been around much - hope no one minds.

Take care XXXXXX

Sorry, realised I still have a christmas name. Doh!

On the David Tennant thing, I'm afraid he doesn't do it for me, but Christopher Ecclestone -yum yum. What a shame he only lasted one series! As for Colin Firth, well, I guess I'd better just join the queue.
