Hiya, found out on Sunday I am pregnant for the 1st time, due 23 July, 4+3 today. Came off pill in August, age 39, didn't expect it to happen so quickly - happy, excited, scared etc - we are both so shocked. Got sore boobs, cramps, and going to loo loads, and wind. Lovely. Pretty clueless about it all so glad to hear any tips and read about you all. I am seeing the nurse on Monday for flu jab and chat so will get more info then. Not planning on telling anyone until scan. Want to keep up with the gym so did body pump today. Nice to 'meet' you all.

RoTo72 · 17/11/2015 20:56

I'm 7 weeks and in maternity jeans I'm so so bloated. I look like I did 5 months with ds.

AndersArms · 17/11/2015 21:04

you I have had very high BMI in both previous pregnancies. I was treated wonderfully well by all HCPs and never made to feel guilty of bad, just encouraged to be as healthy as possible. I hope you have a good experience too - it's not like there's anything that can change it immediately and women of all shapes and sizes have babies every day. Try not to beat yourself up about it and good luck tomorrow.

VulvaVoom · 17/11/2015 21:17

Just wanted to say that I completely sympathise with some of you who are worrying about BMI. I'm quite overweight and worrying about what MW will say too. I also worry about my recovery after the birth when I'm even fatter Confused

Someone pass the crisps

EllieJayJay · 17/11/2015 21:26

chucks crisis around am going to get in such trouble have spilt crumbs in the bed Hmm

Welcome CrazyCat lady, crazy cat lady here too and it happens :) just 38 and came off the pill late August, September DP was away and wham bam here I am :) with a due date of 8th July... It happens I didn't exepect it to happen so quickly !! Am so happy though :)

Crisps not crisis ... We wil have none of that thank you :)

EllieJayJay · 17/11/2015 21:31

And not to be judgemental but every midwife I've ever seen has been a little on the tubby side :) not that I have much experience considering my first pregnancy - but it's not like you can suddenly drop the "extra" weight over night so shouldn't they just be supportive and kind and advise on what you can do to have a happy and healthy pregnancy? Like they should do with everyone :) I'm borderline on the weight thing but I would say I'm healthy so I think as long as your not eating stacks of crisps (oops) and mostly healthy does it matter if you put on a bit or a lot - growing a human is really hard work xx

I'm glad I'm not the only one obsessed with crisps! I've got a box of Carr's cheese thins at work In case I feel nauseous. Haven't felt too bad today but I've still had about 7 of them! I know my bloat will go down in the morning but still! I mentioned to dh that it could be twins and he seems to think that would be brilliant! The thought is scary to me I have to admit, even though I feel very lucky and blessed to be pregnant!

EllieJayJay · 17/11/2015 21:39

I have that worry too Loki, run in my family and higher percentage for older mums... We will find out next Tuesday!

DP keeps dreaming it's triplets!

Mmmm crisps yummy I was eating crisps at half 4 this morning bacon frazzles very yummy I bought them for my son but just couldn't resist they remind me of my childhood. even though it's been over a week since I found out I think I'm still in shock that I'm going to have another baby my son will be 2 and a half when this ones born I'm abit worried how he's going to cope he's a mummy's boy and very spoilt he won't let anyone watch him not even for an hour he shouts if anyone even comes near him lol this is going to be a tough one.

EllieJayJay · 17/11/2015 21:59

Sorry a bit of a moan... Why oh why do boobs hurt now!! They are not required to work their magic for another 7 months or so!! So why all the growing now Hmm I cannot get comfortable this evening even the duvet on them is making me wince

redstrawberries101 · 17/11/2015 22:12

Thanks girls for your kind words

Don't worry about your weight girls! As long as everything is healthy that's the main thing

RoTo72 · 17/11/2015 22:15

Melvali, thinking about you. Hope everything goes well x

Stom91 · 17/11/2015 22:24

Hi all. Not sure if I'm June or July so checking in here if that's ok! I think I'm 7 weeks! Found out Tuesday!

Vickie360 · 17/11/2015 22:32

My bmi is higher then it should be and my mw was fine when I had my dd I just had to have a glucose test to check for gd and that was it so I wouldn't worry to much x

Bluebell20 · 17/11/2015 22:46

Melvali, thinking of you. As the others have said, lots of people experience this with successful pregnancies. My best friend's mum didn't realise she was pregnant with her until she was six months gone, because she kept having what she thought were periods!!!!

Welcome to crazycat and Stom, and anyone else I've missed...!

Vikkijayne2507 · 17/11/2015 23:00

My dad saw a picture of me online and asked if i was pregnant as boobs looked bigger had more podge and i had a glow, i was stunned im struggling to not look pregnant am so bloated. Bmi is also high i expect and drs here in prtugal are very judgmental they erre when pregnant with ds. Booking in nect week already have had heartburn, and feeling sick at least once a day which i didnt have until much much later with ds and a lot less

pulpi · 18/11/2015 07:10

Booking a tentative seat. Am 4+1. I think. Not too sure about this counting thing. And worried about miscarrying as apparently that's something women in my family do with some regularity. But 2 positive tests and boobs like melons is pretty good evidence that after 11 months, I'm finally pregnant!

Pupli, 33, DC #1, DD 25 July, Scotland

BelOfTheBall79 · 18/11/2015 08:11

Morning ladies, wow there are a lot of posts! Welcome to all newbies too.

Have woken up feeling very nauseous again...but reading all your posts has inspired me to eat...is it too early for Wotsits dipped in Philadelphia?!

Or maybe some Pringles...happy to share around Grin

Also loving the idea of bacon frazzles, might have to add to the shopping list!

Hope everyone's appointments go well. Small tip for those who don't like needles - drink lots of water before your tests, it makes your veins much easier to find as it plumps them up, and it will thus be over more quickly.

Jo6526 · 18/11/2015 08:56

Morning all,

I'm also worried about what they will say about my BMI but in the same token I live a healthy lifestyle(ish) exercise and plan to have healthy pregnancy (fingers crossed) would be disappointed if doctor or midwife gave me too much of hard time.

I'm 5 weeks today! Still hasn't sunk in. I just have same feeling I do when period is due - bloating, tiredness.

Jo6526 · 18/11/2015 08:57

Also crossing everything for those who have spotting xxxx

Gx91 · 18/11/2015 09:04

Morning all and welcome newbies !
Good tip for ding veins bel !
I felt like a pin cushion the last time as they really struggled to get a good vein Sad X
Jo - I'm sure it will sink in when all ur symptoms kick in ! My boobs get worse by the day ! Can't touch them today DD was in bed with me last night and kept digging sharp elbows in Sad awwwwwcccchhhhh!!! X

My mood is a bit wavery too been pretty blunt and snappy ( not me at all ) normally have the patience of a saint !
OH called this morning an woke me up , was very grumpy on the phone , I'm just so tired ..
Sorry I seem to be in a moaning mood this morning gona try and shake it with a shower xxx

Jo6526 · 18/11/2015 09:36

Gx91. You're right soon as I start feeling bit more pregnant it will feel real.

I'm
Going to try and hold off telling work for as long as I can, one half of my post is permanent the other half runs out end of March. There's talk of it being extended for another year, this would be great giving me maximum maternity but I don't want to tell them to nearer time as they might not extend!

EllieJayJay · 18/11/2015 09:46

Hi everyone X

Jo I have same issue but my probation ends, end of January - not sure if you have done this before you don't have to tell them until 15 weeks before your due date to be eligible for SMP which is 90% of salary for 6 weeks.

Just seen this on my daily internet browsing

Morning.

I start a new job in a new career in December. The timing for all this is terrible!

What do I do about midwife? Do I call GP and make apt with him or ask for midwife?
