Hi and welcome bergamotmouse. Congratulations on your bfp! Its very exciting isn't it, it takes a few days to sink in.

SoniaShoe · 17/11/2015 12:47

Oh we xposted I didn't type that in lighting speed..

SunnyScot89 · 17/11/2015 12:51

oo Melvali We're going to be baby buddies- my stats are exactly the same (although I'm just outside Edinburgh, but I'll be hopefully giving birth in Edinburgh)
Looking forward to sharing my journey with you all!!

SunnyScot89 · 17/11/2015 13:02

So has anyone got a nick name for your little bean yet? I called the last one Squirt, but he MCed so trying to come up with something new!!

Woodsy81 · 17/11/2015 13:06

Sunny We call ours button. :) No idea why. The first thing that came to mind.

EllieJayJay · 17/11/2015 13:14

Wanting definitely allowed to feel sorry for yourself

I was a vision of beauty yesterday crying into toast with peanut butter because the peanut butter wasn't crunchy enough even though it was supposed to be extra crunchy...

I hope that cream arrives soon for you and works as well for you as it did for me! I was sitting with calipos in my bra before the cream

Loving the birth story loki I've been lucky to avoid poo in mine! (Mine or babies)

Had my doc first appointment today. Total waste of time but did get my flu jab. Now just got to wait for midwife to get in touch which I'm overly impatient about. The control freak in me wants to book an appointment and know when it is. Grr.

Also.. I've forgotten.. Are we allowed Philadelphia??

wantingno2 · 17/11/2015 13:34

Thanks ellie I can't wait for it to arrive there driving me mad.

Cookiesandcoffee · 17/11/2015 13:34

Oh completely forgot to re-add my stats.. Are we going to have a stats thread??

Philly is fine as its made from pasteurised milk :)

So is Stilton :D which makes a very very happy lady :)

Cookies Yes I've created a stats thread. If everyone puts it on their watch list we can all just update when we have our scans and then eventually when we have our babies all being well.

I'm just stealing ideas from my May 13 thread we did the same and it was nice to keep up with everything. When we had our 20 week scan we added to the stats if we were team pink, team blue or team yellow

foobio · 17/11/2015 14:05

Hate to be a party popper ellie but my book says:
"Some cheeses should not be eaten during pregnancy as they could be contaminated wih listeria. This applies to soft, mould-ripened cheeses ( Eg Brie) and blue-veined cheeses ( Eg stilton), whether they are made from pasteurised or unpasteurised milk."

Obviously you can still weigh up the risk vs enjoyment factor! I for one have already eaten several banned foods (all cheese!) mostly accidentally.

redstrawberries101 · 17/11/2015 14:06

We call our Babba! Lol not very exciting but suits it fine.

Yes sunny we will be buddies! We might even be in Hosp together!!!

My eyes are so blurry today and twitching and I look terrible, exhausted. Surprisingly I think I feel better than I look, but body must be really tired

foobio · 17/11/2015 14:08

cookies - philly is safe though, as are hard cheeses ( both pasteurised and unpasteurised) and pre packaged soft cheeses.

And any of the banned cheeses are fine if they are thoroughly cooked - think baked camembert or brie or stilton on a pizza!

Bluebell20 · 17/11/2015 14:10

Awh thanks Beautician, Sonia, Jem and Melvali for your kind words. Yep, I am really lucky as I have a wonderful MIL who totally treats me as her own, and who would never ever dream of interfering!

I have felt so sick today. It's a good job it's a freelance day not a teaching day, is all I can say! At one point all I could do was sit stock still on the sofa, as any movement was making me feel ill! I must say this is not how I imagined morning sickness at all. I envisioned it being more of a sudden need to vom, followed by going back to normal. Didn't realise it would be this constant nausea!

Feeling a bit worried about my booking appointment tomorrow as I am absolutely terrible with blood and needles. DH was supposed to be coming for support, but he now can't come as he has a job interview. I just know I'm going to flake out because my starting point is already feeling really sick, so it's not going to take much to tip me over the edge!!! Argh!

7+3

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 17/11/2015 14:21

Bluebell when you have your appt tell the midwife you would like your bloods done first. That way it's over with and you are sitting for the rest of the appt in case you feel faint. I always do this as I hate them too. I recite a song in my head while its being done and I often take Haribo to help with any light headed feelings afterwards Smile

Bluebell20 · 17/11/2015 14:28

Oh thank you Beautician, you honey, that is top advice. I have always been terrible - you only have to talk about such things and I start to go woozy - I nearly passed out during staff training on diabetes in children! On two separate occasions!

I might actually be better if DH isn't there, thinking about it, as I'll know I have to rely on my own power to get myself home again. Might make me more determined to stay upright!

Cookiesandcoffee · 17/11/2015 14:35

beautician that's really good advice. I might do the same as I have resus neg blood so I get the joys of extra needles. Thanks on the stats thread.. Will have to work out how to watch from my phone..

Thanks on the cheese front ladies, I thought it was ok but after just scoffing a bagel I thought oops I really did pile it high on top!
To be honest I will still probably have a little of 'naughty' cheeses at Christmas as I just love them so much and I LOVE a cheeseboard.

indians hope you are having a lovely time, have always wanted to go to Italy. Yey to being due date buddies. To be honest I'm 99% sure I know when I DTD so I'm worried they might set me back a few days at my scan. Booo

EllieJayJay · 17/11/2015 14:41

Foobio I read soft or soft-blue is not ok such as Roquefort or blue veined but Stilton has less of a risk and the NHS actually says it is ok to eat... Did quite a lot of googling on it just now and seems it's practically 0 so for me, a tiny bit isn't too bad :) and if it's cooked then it's all good, so maybe I will just melt the stuff to be safe! Oh it's a mind field!!

Brilliant idea Beautician... Defo doing that, just off to get my flu jab and making DP take me as I'm such a wimp x

foobio · 17/11/2015 14:48

Have definitely found different advice in different places, I'm currently reviewing a book "what to eat when you're pregnant" for its next print edition, hence the detailed info, not usually this detail obsessed! Will give them the feedback that they contradict the NHS! ( And will still be having some at Christmas! )

EllieJayJay · 17/11/2015 14:54

I have what to eat when your expecting... Haven't got to the cheese bit yet. I discovers that Stilton was ok on my birthday whilst a waiter was hovering by a cheese trolley - was googling it whilst he waited lol

I'm trying to be sensible where possible and look at risk - so a bit of Stilton (has to be Stilton though not fake Stilton lol)! When my friend was pregnant (15 yrs ago) she lived in France and the advise was one small glass of wine per day and up to five cigarettes ;) which I would never do and Japanese ladies eat sushi (horrible stuff) which is on a no list unless frozen

It's just a mind field!! I cried two days after we found out as went to a pub that has the best chesse and person next to me had a slab of Brie and I cried and cried because how could I survive then discovered you could eat it cooked :)
