Vikki I have my booking appt tomorrow and I'm going to ask the midwife if I can have my scan before Christmas. I'm 12 weeks on Christmas Eve so I'm hoping it will be that Christmas week anyway.

EllieJayJay · 22/11/2015 12:04

Lady amazing!!!

I knew a lady tried IVF for years and sadly it just never took, so her and her partner went through the adoption process adopted a beautiful little girl then just two months after without IVF she fell pregnant with...

Triplets!

I kid you not! She always said it must have been the stress

Ah God lol it'll be amazing if it is a multiple but it'll be like fate laughing at us if we did after all this time!

Going to pay for a 10 week scan I think.

pulpi · 22/11/2015 12:25

Oh I'm so relieved that I'm not the only one mistaking signs of miscarriage for epic wind.

EllieJayJay · 22/11/2015 12:49

It was quite a shock to her X but a lovely story :)

Your really not Pulpi epic wind has been such an issue for me :) I've never let one escape in front of my DP and have spent the past three weeks apologising i have no control!!!

Hello and welcome to all the new joiners. And congratulations to you all! Some great stories.

thistledew I hope this passes and keeping fx for you, I hope the wait goes ok until the EPU opens.

I'm feeling so ill today. Just strong waves of nausea and very tired. I have a feeling the tiredness is making the nausea worse. Has anyone else noticed that link? That you feel more sick when you are tired? I'm on the sofa under a blanket watching minions with DD though bliss.

Oh and I'm really gassy too!

VulvaVoom · 22/11/2015 13:32

I think my pains could be wind too Blush

I'm also getting a pain in my bum when I sit down, anyone else getting this? Sorry far tmi!

redstrawberries101 · 22/11/2015 13:45

My pain was low down, like really low down and in the pregnancy area but no bleeding so far so hoping for the best!

What can we do to help this gas??

Loki17 · 22/11/2015 13:53

Mine was the same Mel - right where o knew my ovaries were. Wind is part and parcel of the first 12 weeks. Just try not to worry too much x

redstrawberries101 · 22/11/2015 14:19

Thanks. I'm quite off my food and not eating properly. Really fancied a Nando's this evening but hubby is busy. Having chicken enchiladas and home made chips instead!

lilygirl81 · 22/11/2015 15:09

Lucky I'm so sorry to hear your news. Be kind to yourself and don't be ashamed to grieve.

Lady that is amazing, you must be over the moon

Thistle how are you feeling now? It's rotten the EPUs close at the weekends, it's not fair to make us wait when it is so worrying.

My parents came to visit today to take away some furniture from our bedroom. I said it's just generally to clear space as we have a tiny 1 bed flat but it's really space for a crib etc. We hope to move when any child is around a year or 18 months, but it is going to be a tight squeeze for a while. Also had to try and find all the pregnancy tests, I didn't realise quite how many I had done. Sad that my first digital positive's battery had died, but it was a boots own brand one.

Had a bit of a panic as we went out for dim sum, and I had loads of jasmine tea as normal, forgetting it had caffeine in it. DH and I have worked out it's probably no more than 50mg, but it's so easy to have without thinking!

Mordirig · 22/11/2015 15:17

Hello, just found this thread, going to wedge myself in if that's ok?
Got a strong positive on Friday after a week of sore boobs and random napping prompted me to. Just over 4 weeks and this is my third pregnancy, ( unplanned due to failed condom, but very happy about it ) I have a Son (7) and Daughter (3) who will be 8 & 4 by next July, so largish gaps but it works for me and DH :)
My appetite this time round has dropped considerably, no other symptoms expect the soreness and tiredness.
When is everyone else deciding to tell family?

Cheery1 · 22/11/2015 16:04

Lucky - so sorry to hear your news. It is heartbreaking, I know. Thinking if you x

Cheery1 · 22/11/2015 16:05

Roto - still hoping it turns out ok for you x

felinewonderful · 22/11/2015 16:06

Mordirig, I have an 8 yeard old and a 3 year old so I have largish gaps too. I can't decide when to tell work, I work as a nurse in an inpatient unit and there are risks involved but would have liked to wait until the 12 week scan but not sure that's possible or fair to the people I work with, what have others done about work so far? anyone told?

Bluebell20 · 22/11/2015 16:06

Oh guys, just gotta share... I've been on a course from 10 - 2 today and they didn't provide lunch! I'd brought snacks with me but felt really awkward eating when nobody else was, so only managed to sneak one bite during the course. I can't believe I didn't pass out. We got given some cake towards the end, but then I had a really long journey home... Only just got in: dinner is already on! Come on, food!

Patsy - sounds like we're in the same boat. I had a mc in April (first pregnancy, at 10 wks). Like you delighted to be pregnant again but super anxious! Had a 6 wk (actually more like 5+5) scan and saw tiny bean with yolk sac and heart beating away but still feel like there's a long way to go. I did read that once a heartbeat has been detected the chance of mc drops drastically. It's some comfort.

Other ladies - oh my the painful gas! Horrendous. Just a bit of light nausea far (mostly around bacon weirdly) and sore boobs so I'm not complaining too much.

Cheery1 · 22/11/2015 16:14

Modrig - it's tricky knowing when to tell family. My 12wk isn't til Jan but I think I'll have to say something pre Xmas as no one is going to buy me turning away a glass of fizz on Xmas day, or Stilton for that matter! Like Patsy, I might see if I can get a 10 wk scan pre-xmas....x

Mordirig · 22/11/2015 16:35

Felinewonderful Nice to see someone with similar gaps, everyone I know in RL has 1-2+1/2 yr spacing and it takes a bit of a shuffle to arrange play dates etc since my brood don't match up to others.
Your job sounds quite high risk, if you are allowed to put yourself first then this is the time, you shouldn't feel like you have to put your own health at risk even over patients/colleagues. Do what's right for you.

Cheery1 That's a good idea, we have a private clinic just outside of town that does scans, I would do it but I'd only be 8 weeks roughly, luckily I rarely drink so I may just get away with passing on the Cava.
I kind of want to keep it a secret as long as possible, I'm going to ask them to tie my tubes ( all C Sections for me ) so I know this will be my last one most likely, I want to treasure it and keep it all to myself for a bit, is that weird?

Cheery1 · 22/11/2015 16:39

I think it's a really special time when no one else knows, just you and your partner. I completely understand wanting to keep it to yourself x

Cheery1 · 22/11/2015 16:41

P.s. So many advantages to not drinking wine Modrig! Smile

Cheery1 · 22/11/2015 16:48

Sorry Mordirig , misspelt your name twice! X

Mordirig · 22/11/2015 17:01

Cheery1 Don't worry about it, I'm not easily offended :)

Ladyboluna · 22/11/2015 17:03

Felinewonderful - I work on a ward and I told my work as soon as I found out. What if a patient had a radioactive scan or treatment? What if they have certain infections? What if you're asked to help lift a patient up? You're not covered by health and safety if you don't tell them because you need a risk assessment and need to be taken account of in terms of workload.

Hi & congratulations to all the new joiners.

Popping in with a question. Anyone else experiencing jelly like cm. It may be baby #4 but I've never had it before. So not sure if it's normal or not.
