Total respect for the ladies exercising away! I'm being a lazy little thing, after work I am on the sofa and I was in bed for 8:30! The only person I've told is my mum as she helped me hide my soft drinks at a party, didn't intend to tell anyone but couldn't see how I could get round it. Early, early, early here! 4+4, found out this time last week!

mascaraisamust · 18/11/2015 19:11

Oh and gnatt, I've been freezing! Physically so cold! Shivering! Until I go to bed. Bizarre!

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 18/11/2015 19:27

Jo I would tell the instructor. I think the only time you have to be careful with exercise is when taking up lots of new exercise that your body isn't used to.

Cookie it may be worth calling the midwife as sometimes they forget. I've had to call them before.

Bergamot I would mention running to your midwife especially if you haven't done it for a while and see what she advises.

Mascara hi & congratulations. Like you & Gnat I have also been really cold. It's not good for my sore nipples .

Evening folks

Melvali - your resilience is amazing. Whenever it happens, and it will happen, you'll be a fantastic mother.

For those with insomnia, and apologies for the repetition but I really recommend melatonin, a natural remedy i use for jet lag.

Ellie - I did the Harmony test last year when preg with DC1 as my bloods came back with a 1:30 chance of Downs. (Nuchal showed no problem). It cost £500 and the Harley St office was an interesting contrast to my South London NHS hospital (!) but was money well spent. Not only are their scans and measurements a lot more detailed, but they can tell you the sex of your child much earlier than the standard 16 week NHS scan. I happened to want to know and I realize many people don't. However, if my risk was over 1:100 I wouldn't have had the Harmony test at all as I would have accepted the low risk...anyhoo we've got all that to look forward to!

As for exercise, swimming is fantastic when preg if you can bear the miseries of changing in this crap weather. I heard you weren't supposed to do yoga in first trimester...I would ask my SIL who is an instructor but then she'd guess I'm preg.

Welcome gnat! - what a lovely story and congrats. wanted to mention my best friend is coeliac and about to have a baby in mid Jan so anything's possible!

Beautician - I'm assuming you are a beautician, if not, please ignore me (!) - I so rarely do anything beauty related, what would be a good December pamper? I am thinking pedicure...but any good winter-time facials or similar? I feel the need to indulge as am bloody knackered.

wantingno2 · 18/11/2015 19:43

ellie my nipple cream came today sad to say it's made no difference what so ever. owwww god my poor nipps are on fire Angry

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 18/11/2015 19:44

Ellizardo yes I'm a beautician Grin. A luxury pedicure would be nice especially a nice paraffin wax one. For my Christmas present DH is booking me into a salon for their pregnancy pamper package which consists of a full body massage and facial. Bliss. A back massage would be nice now while you can still lie on your tummy. Just make sure you tell them you are pregnant. The massage would be pretty much the same its just certain oils can't be used in pregnancy but there are plenty that can.

BergamotMouse · 18/11/2015 19:55

Don't worry beautician. I used to run 25 miles a week but as a teacher have struggled to get out since September but went very slow. I will run it past doctor to check though.

I just made a salmon and Creme fraiche linguine thing for dinner. Only realised when we sat down and dug in that I'd completely forgotten the salmon. It's too early for baby brain isn't it?

Have just got a set of pregnacare vitamins (was previously just taking folic acid). I now feel bad for just getting the original ones - should I have bought the plus ones with omega 3? They're just so much more expensive which I'd pay if it helped but I feel they're just honing in on my insecurities.

EllieJayJay · 18/11/2015 20:00

wanting oh no!!! Was it the really thick gloopy one?? I had to bite the tube to get if out - Honestly it is the only thing saving my poor nipples, am so sorry if it hasn't worked - maybe apply it a little at a time and build up a layer? I feel so guilty!!

eliz that's interesting to know, I am going to wait for the result of the blood test, i am sure I read somewhere about 1/10,000 being a negative, still looking into it - not sure if I would have it done if it came back 1:100 I think I would just for peace of mind - when do you get the blood test results? As be good to do this test if necessary before telling everyone - this is what is scaring me the most as I think it's rammed into you from a young age as the biggest risk of having a child in your late 30's

Hi Bergamont, I had this convo about the pregnacare with omega with another lady, I had stacks of boots vouchers so went for the ones including - you could always by an omega supplement separately, ask your pharmacist for the best generic replacement as some oils aren't the right sort of fish oil. I am also sure that I saw somewhere that the omega oils are better later on, and don't count so much in the beginning but don't hold me to that - give it a google X

Sorry Bergamot didn't mean to try teach you how to suck eggs. I've never been on a run in my life haha.

BergamotMouse · 18/11/2015 20:24

Haha, don't worry beautician. I was just trying to show I wasn't a crazy person who's decided to start a whole new running schedule a few days after finding out I'm pregnant. I doubt my new found enthusiasm will last long.

EllieJayJay · 18/11/2015 20:37

I can even walk down the stairs with my boobs... I'm very jealous :)

Evening all , feeling a bit more positive tonight. Nothin I can do except just hope for the best. And if it doesn't happen then so be it.

The Hosp never phoned with the blood results so they prob never came back in time. Expecting a call in the morning.

Just going to get into bed now and watch some tv! Wind down :) need a good night sleep. Got a busy day at work tomorrow X

Fourormore · 18/11/2015 20:54

Hope you have a lovely relaxed evening Mel x

Bonxie · 18/11/2015 20:59

Ellie, the brain blankness is so strong here that I was just reading that very literally!

I've NCd since the last thread, but was never on the list as only using phone at the moment.

39, DC 1, going by lmp 7 + 2 but at early scan yesterday they thought more like 6 + 2 with little fluttery heartbeat.

They did say it can be 5 days out and may catch up by dating scan at 12 weeks. Confusing as I thought I had all the ovulation symptoms on days 13/14. But then I did feel a massive twinge for a few minutes on day 23 so maybe it hung around a bit and implanted then. I've tried reading up on it but still not 100% on the science!

Bonxie · 18/11/2015 21:00

And everything crossed for you Melvali x

EllieJayJay · 18/11/2015 21:07

Poor DP came downstairs and said "so where we going then, and your eating crumpets?" I said "going where and yes I was hungry" I didn't tell him I'd forgotten he was at home lol but it was a bit weird when he said were going for lunch... I think it's tiredness driven for me I'm exhausted constantly, maybe it's worse when your older I am 38...

Mel am hoping for some good news for you tomorrow morning, I can't imagine how you must feel, your being so brave xx watch trashy TV and eat crisps xx do let us know how you get on as we are all here for you X

I am also in bed trying to watch the telly through a small kitten who has decided Alan sugars minions heads are needing to be bashed by her paws :) it's quite amusing X

However did things to DP as he came home once to find me rubbing ice on me following by blowing Shock at the point I didn't care it gave some much required relief!
