If anyone wants added to the FB group PM me, can you say what your profile pic is too so I can find you, thanks!
Hope everyone has a good day today, any scans happening?

Haha Tiff I can sympathise with the cat! Mine likes to beg for his breakfast when I wake up in the early hours too! He's obsessed with food!

I always used to sleep on my front but can't do that anymore.

Ruthiesj · 04/11/2015 19:40

New to mumsnet, so hello everyone! I'm expecting my first baby on 5 May.

Seems there are quite a few of us still feeling unwell! In the past few weeks, my nausea has improved; going from constant to waves throughout the day. I feel like the end is in sight, especially officially entering the second trimester tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

Anyway, congratulations to everyone and good luck to all those having their scans soon. For those worrying about how much they've been asked to drink, my advice would be to judge for yourself how much to drink. I followed the instructions exactly - one litre of water an hour prior -
and not only was I in great discomfort while waiting, the sonographer had to ask me to use the bathroom twice so she could carry out the ultrasound! Obviously everyone is different, but next time I don't plan to alter my water intake, simply refrain from emptying my bladder in the hour before the appointment.

pregnanteast · 04/11/2015 21:23

Welcome ruthie!

Lovely scan pics frozen, very clear! I know nothing about nub theory but I'm going to guess boy.

I am absolutely convinced I'm having a girl. My mum thinks I'm a bit mad but honestly, I swear I just "know"!! I don't have a preference, I'd be just as happy with a boy...but I'd bet anything it's a girl!

PearlyFish · 04/11/2015 22:03

Hello again, sorry I've been away from the thread for ages. I have been following but too tired / busy to log in.

Big hugs and Flowers to everyone who has had a loss. There are no adequate words but I hope that each of you are taking time for yourself and getting the support you need.

I'm feeling a lot more energetic going into the second trimester. Had my scan last week which was brilliant, and Down's risk results through today which were extremely low.

I've started telling people at work which is a big relief. Little bump is taking a lot more dressing to hide it so it will be great to be able to tell everyone.

I'm doing ok sleep-wise but wondering when to get out the dream genii pillow again (highly recommend!) as it takes me a little while to get comfortable.

Welcome to Ruthie!

I will have a think about joining the FB group. Might be easier for me to keep up on there but I like the anonymity on here.

Hope time goes quickly for those of you awaiting scans, and that the nausea clears off for those of you still feeling it!

PearlyFish · 04/11/2015 22:05

Oh and I got a new EDD from the scan of 6th May. Was surprised as expecting baby to be younger than dates (late ovulation), but by measurements he/she is a day older. By new date I am 13+5 today.

Tatie3 · 04/11/2015 22:58

Hi everyone, I'm new to Mumsnet and I'm 14 weeks pregnant with my 3rd baby! I've had preeclampsia with my first 2 pregnancies and today have joined a clinical trial to see if taking an increased dose of folic acid reduces the risk.

Hope you're all well!

PearlyFish · 05/11/2015 07:27

Welcome Tatie and congratulations! Sorry to hear about the pre-eclampsia. I don't know much about it but a friend had it in her first pregnancy and it was horribly stressful. Will be really interested to hear how the folic acid trial goes. Fingers crossed for you!

Is anyone else doing a research trial? I had a look at the notice board in the antenatal waiting area but the trials were either too far away or not something I wanted to do. One was about trailing new pain relief methods in labour, which interested me. However, I'm dead set on an epidural and was a bit worried they'd allocate me to some sort of control / placebo group!

Tatie3 · 05/11/2015 07:55

Thanks PearlyFish, I'm trying not to worry too much abortive pre-eclampsia as I'm aware of the signs and have always been well looked after in the past. I'm having extra growth scans and consultant led care (I also have a history of Group B Strep and post partum heammorage so I'm about if a pain in the bum).

If anyone here is at increased risk of pre-eclampsia then ask your consultant about taking part in the trial, they need as many participants as possible!

Southy84 · 05/11/2015 10:34

Welcome ruthie and tatie :)

Hi pearly yay for being further along than you thought :) I think I may look into one of those pillows!

I have the option of doing a clinical trial too tatie can't remember exactly off the top of my head but I think it was a vitamin D one, and you get extra scans for free with it which is tempting- however the hospital I go to is horrific for parking and the spaces are so incredibly small so that puts me off doing it!

TiffanyAtBreakfast · 05/11/2015 10:35

Welcome Ruthie and Tatie!

And good morning everyone :) I'm annoyed with myself today as I was in a rush this morning and forgot my lunch.

Think I'm going to have to cave in and pop to Tesco in a minute as if I don't eat regularly through the day I feel terrible! How's everyone feeling?

frozensmoothie · 05/11/2015 10:49

Welcome Ruthie and Tatie

That's interesting about the clinical trials. I've not had the option to do any. It will be interesting to see if the increased folic acid makes a difference to the pre-eclampsia risk. I'm slightly concerned about pre-eclampsia as it's my first baby and my mum had it with me and I was delivered 6 weeks early by c-section. I'm not classed as high risk yet though so hopefully it will be ok.

I'm feeling ok today. I seem to be sleeping better now which is definitely helping. Oh no how annoying about your lunch Tiff I'm feeling I don't' have to eat quite so much now to stave off feeling ill, but I still get hungry all the time. I'm currently taking two lunch boxes to work, one with my actual lunch in and one full of fruit and snacks I can graze on throughout the day. I'm going to be huge!

Southy84 · 05/11/2015 10:50

Morning tiff :) I would absolutely have to go to tesco too! I would be getting the sweet chilli chicken wrap Grin I also have to eat regularly. I feel a bit rubbish this morning- but think it's mainly nerves... My acne outbreak is also really painful, why does it have to be all over my face :( it's so depressing I don't feel like I will ever get the lovely pregnancy glow, just a pale face full of spots!!

Southy84 · 05/11/2015 10:54

Crossed posts sorry frozen I wasn't ignoring you, I seem to sleep better -well apart from last night! I can understand why you're worried about pre-eclampsia, but the good thing is you will be well monitored and looked after and hopefully you won't get it x loving the two lunch box idea Grin

TiffanyAtBreakfast · 05/11/2015 11:05

Frozen that's a good idea with the lunchboxes. I took some cut up cucumber with me yesterday and had devoured it by 10:30am!

Southy you've really made me fancy that wrap now! Darn you and your tasty suggestions Grin

Aw sorry to hear about the acne, I bet it's one of those things where it's really noticeable to you personally, but not that obvious to other people at all. Has it worsened since you've been pregnant?

Southy84 · 05/11/2015 11:10

Hmm I want that wrap too tiff and not fancying the soup I have! Go on treat yourself- it has lettuce in it doesn't it? So that makes it healthy, plus wraps are better than bread Grin well I don't normally suffer from acne, I get the odd spot around the time AF is due but this is horrific- I basically have two chins... It's the throbby type of huge spot you literally can't escape, the type that waves at people Hmm and a scattering of friends surrounding it! Definitely so much worse now I'm pregnant, and my hair is dry/greasy and just horrid. (can you tell I'm feeling sorry for myself today)

Bishboshbash · 05/11/2015 11:29

I want a wrap now too! Or a cheeseburger....hmmm I'm going to be the size of house by the end of this!

I am in the same boat as you Southy except I had acne before I was preg but I was antibiotics for it, can't take them now so now have a delightful face full of spots, so depressing, will be straight back on my meds once the baby is born but still it sucks in the mean time!

Lovely to see lots of people on the fb group, apology's if I have missed anyone just give me a nudge if I haven't added you yet, I probably just got distracted by ds! :-)

cantbelieveImquittingcoffee · 05/11/2015 11:43

Morning all! Am I remembering right that a few of you have scans today? Sending you all lots of luck if so!
I'm on my way to the airport for a long weekend in Sweden - meeting the BF today as he's been away for a conference, spending the night in Copenhagen then on to stay with lovely friends for the weekend and to meet her DS for the first time, a little break we booked when I was in the midst of MS/mini-pregnancy depression. Sadly friend was also preg and had MS about a month ago so hope she will be ok with me and my bump, and hopefully my sore throat won't develop into full-on illness! Anyway have a lovely weekend everyone and see you on the other side!

frozensmoothie · 05/11/2015 11:49

Ooo I want a cheeseburger now Bish mmmmmm

You're allowed to feel sorry for yourself Southy I've got a giant spot on my chin right now, and I'm getting a spotty stomach too, very attractive! Good luck with your scan later.

Have a lovely weekend away can't sounds lovely.

cantbelieveImquittingcoffee · 05/11/2015 12:04

Thanks frozen, meanwhile am freaking out that my plastic toiletry bag is too full and that my baby on board badge will not be allowed because of the pin (irrational, me?!) - if they take it away from me I will cry!!

TiffanyAtBreakfast · 05/11/2015 12:07

So I bought the wrap... And some hula hoops... And a kinder bueno Blush so healthy!

Oh no, the throbby ones are the worst! Hope it starts to abate the longer you are preggers, supposedly we are all meant to start feeling a bit better aren't we... Aren't we?! looks around desperately lol.

Morning cantbelieve, sounds like a lovely weekend, have fun.

frozen I have never had a spotty stomach before, is this a thing? Teehee.

frozensmoothie · 05/11/2015 12:17

Haha I hope it's not a thing tiff it's not an attractive look! Enjoy your lunch, it sounds yum!

I'm sure you'll be fine can't. I went to Amsterdam earlier in the year and my toiletries bag was so overflowing it didn't do up and everything fell out and rolled around the plastic tray. They weren't bothered at all and this was at Gatwick where I thought they'd be more hot on these things. I'm sure they won't object to the baby on board badge either Smile

Southy84 · 05/11/2015 12:36

Well I had my soup and found a big bit of gristle in it Angry now I feel sick, annoying I tried to chew it ewwww. So jealous of your wrap tiff!

Oh no bish have your Drs recommended anything as an alternative to the antibiotics whilst you are pregnant?

Have a lovely weekend away cantbelieve :) I have my scan today and wracking my brain as to who else does, I know I share scan day with at least one other person who was this morning- I'm this afternoon. I will look back as my memory is shocking!

Thank you frozen and sorry you're having chin spot problems too :(

Southy84 · 05/11/2015 13:08

It's vicky who has her scan today, hope it went ok x

TiffanyAtBreakfast · 05/11/2015 13:17

Ick, gristle? shudder What kind of soup was that?

Ooh yes enjoy your scans today Vicky and Southy! Come and update us afterwards if you can, we'll be thinking of you Smile

Ruthiesj · 05/11/2015 13:44

Thanks for the welcome everyone!

Good luck this afternoon Southy

Frozen Sadly, I don't have the restraint for a second lunchbox of snacks - if it's available, I'd be devouring it at the smallest grumble of hunger or nausea!

Btw, is anyone else now getting nauseous after eating food? It just seems to have happened over the past few days and is pretty confusing considering my nausea was previously worse when I was hungry.
