Hope everyone has a good day today, any scans happening?

Just dropping by as I've mostly been hanging out on FB and missed thread news. But congratulations Frozen!

With all the group heading in to 20-week scans over the next few weeks, I can't quite believe how quickly the last couple of months have gone!

My most recent pregnancy-related excitement was my DH feeling baby move for the first time last week (19w, though measuring ahead). Unfortunately with an anterior placenta, he's not been able to feel anything since. I reckon she was protesting about the really spicy Mexican food I'd just eaten! I feel her a lot these days, which seems unusual given she's our first and the position of my placenta, but I'm not complaining.

ODog · 15/12/2015 11:56

Wow ruthie that lovely. DH could feel DS really early last time (around 18-19 week) and you could see him
Loving from the outside around the same time too. He's a total nutter and has been since birth.

This time, I can feel plenty of little gentle pokes and flutters but nothing anyone else would feel and I'm almost 20 weeks. I'm hoping this one is more sedate a sleeper .

I know someone has a San today but can't see to scroll up on my phone. Good luck and please let us know how it goes.

ODog · 15/12/2015 11:56

Moving from the outside haha. Not loving! Hmm

cantbelieveImquittingcoffee · 15/12/2015 12:51

I was sure I felt lots of movements for the past week and DP Could feel some from the outside too but seems to have quietened down the past few days, not worried though as I'm not quite 20 weeks so think the baby is swimming in quite a big pool and might not be touching the sides very often! Last night j had the FREAKIEST dream about a whole clearly defined hand poking right out under my skin, followed by an entire baby's torso appearing out of stomach (much bigger than a new-born, haha!!) with brown hair and blue eyes, was SO weird!! DP says if the baby has blue eyes it's the postman's so let's see Wink
It's frozen who has her scan today, she updated fb so sure she'll be over here soon too!
I did wonder if I should try and get a sneaky ad hoc pre-Christmas scan in by going to the hospital and saying I was worried by movement stopping (I'm 20 wks on Thursday but scan not till 29th as we are away) but in hindsight I'm too busy to go and wait around!!

ODog · 15/12/2015 13:41

cant I don't think they would scan you for reduced movements this early on anyway. They might check heart rate etc but a) like you say it's swimming in a big pool and not touching the edge all the time and b) sadly I don't think there is much they would be able to do. I might be wrong though...do make an appt with your midwife so she can check heartbeat though if you are worried and I'm sure she would refer you if they were any concerns. No point in worry over Xmas needlessly.

Mamama31 · 15/12/2015 13:45

Congratulations frozen!!!!

I am only feeling flutters and pokes at the moment can't wait for more defined movement so dh can also feel it.

Re names I think we have a shortlist now we know it's a boy: Oscar, Caleb, Seth, Oliver and Joshua. We agree on 2 of these names but have decided that now we have a short list we will see what baby looks like when he is born!

Anyone else shortlisted names?

We have got quite a lot in for baby now, seems once i started shopping I couldn't stop!

My bump looks and feels big but I am short so that doesn't help! As long as baby is healthy and growing I don't care but it does scare me if I have to try and get a large baby out.... Hoping less than 8lbs!!!!! But I will do it regardless, just terrified!

frozensmoothie · 15/12/2015 14:04

Afternoon everyone!

Had my scan this morning. Baby was asleep and in the wrong position and wasn't co-operating at all! The scan took an hour in the end. I had to jump up and down, run up and down the stairs, go to the loo and drink a sugary drink and baby was still snoozing. Luckily they managed to get the measurements so I don't need to go back, and everything looked fine.

My mother's instinct was also completely wrong, its a little girl!

I've just been feeling little pokes and waves too, still nothing that my DP can feel and I'm 20+2 with a posterior placenta. Hopefully we'll feel stronger movements soon.

ODog · 15/12/2015 15:19

Those are lovely names mama. One we have already used and one is a possibility for this time. We struggle with names a bit as DH is a teacher and he always seems to know a naughty boy/girl with any name I like!

Congrats on a little girl frozen and glad they got all the measurements. Although I'd be secretly disappointed that I didn't get another scan.

I heard yesterday than my hospital is going to start routinely scanning at 36wks too but not sure when it will start. Fingers crossed I'll get another peek then too. 3 days to wait for me now. Can't wait for Friday and to find out if it's a girl or a boy.

GrouchyKiwi · 15/12/2015 16:12

Congrats on the wedding news and girl baby, frozen!

Re names: we're going with Leo for a boy and Alexandra or Isabella for a girl. I think we're having another girl, and as we already have two girls I'm running low on middle names!

ParsnipSoup · 15/12/2015 16:14

Great news that your scan went well Frozen!

36 week scans sounds so sensible ODog, I hope other trusts start doing the same. I'm considering a private 30-something week scan but probably need to save my pennies.

Excitingly I felt some proper movement for the first time yesterday. Excitement quickly dampened by finding a little bit of blood in my pants later in the day. Hoping everything is still alright :-/

ODog · 15/12/2015 19:39

I'm sure all is well parsnip. Some people bleed all the way through and feeling movements is a great and exciting sign that things are progressing as they ought to.

They are lovely names grouchy. We struggled for a girls name last time but luckily DS popped out as a boy. However, this pregnancy has been so different i really think this one could be a girl. I know all pregnancies are different but it's just a feeling. We will see on Friday. I'm happy either way though really. Nice to have one of each but lovely for DS to have a little buddy too.

GunShotResidue · 15/12/2015 22:04

parsnip I had a little bleed in the first trimester and went to the GP and he said not too worry as lots of people have spotting throughout pregnancy. If you're worried ring your midwife and they can check you over.

I think it varies by trust, but here you can't get a scan for reduced movements until 28+ weeks. A lot seems to vary by trust, av friend heard baby's heartbeat at her booking in appointment, which doesn't seem to happen anywhere else!

I think I'm really unobservant as with this one and DD I didn't feel movements until DH tried to feel and told me where the movements were!

Nicky333 · 16/12/2015 08:21

I was lying in bed last night and think I felt movements from the outside. Weirdly I couldn't feel them from the inside so I'm still not sure.

Took me two hours to get to sleep as well. I usually go to sleep on my stomach and my brain still thinks it's not time to go to sleep until I turn. Grrrrr.

ToffeeAppleMarsBar · 16/12/2015 10:19

Hi everyone! Wow, lots of exciting things happening. Congratulations Frozen on both marriage plans and baby girl! GOODNESS 2016 is going to be wonderful for you! We had an absolutely lovely marriage ceremony at a registry office - we didn't 'dress up' and just took our parents and beforehand I was worried it wouldn't feel 'momentous' but the staff did an amazing job and it was just perfect. Although, we did then go on and have a more traditional wedding day afterwards - but we both came out of the registry office feeling like it was the most special day. Just proves you don't have to do the whole 'big wedding' thing.

Lots of exciting scan news and lots of pokes, flutters and movements. Our babies are really letting us know they're there, aren't they!? After feeling my first poke last week, I've felt baby every day and I just love it. Feels like bubbles bursting to me at the moment.

Mamama31 · 16/12/2015 10:25

Congrats on baby girl frozen that's lovely!

Parsnip I had a little bit of bleeding at 7 weeks and again at 17+5 I was scanned both times and all is well. When I rang my midwife at 17+5 she sent me up to hospital for a scan just to reassure me but if you don't want to do that you could ask your midwife for an appointment to listen to the heartbeat? I heard heartbeat at 17+5 with the midwife and again last week at 18+4 as she had to repeat my bloods but let me hear heartbeat again while I was there! so do ask your midwife that's what they are there for.

frozensmoothie · 16/12/2015 11:39

Thanks everyone!

Parsnip hope your bleeding was nothing to worry about.

Lovely to hear about your registry office wedding experience Toffee. DP has bought the ring but still wants to do a proper proposal so will have to wait for that before we give notice!

Haven't slept well the past few nights so feeling absolutely shattered today. Ive got to go out for work Christmas lunch soon but feel like I could fall asleep right now.

We've got a shortlist of about 5 girls names and plan to use mine and DPs mum's names as the middle names. At the moment we can't decide on which one so maybe we'll have to wait to meet her and see which one fits best!

ParsnipSoup · 16/12/2015 18:37

Bleeding has stopped. Midwife was particularly unhelpful and just said I should call back if it got worse. Was going to ask someone at work to check the heartbeat because I was worrying but in the past day I've started to feel some movement so I'm feeling much better.

ToffeeAppleMarsBar · 17/12/2015 10:15

Ahh that all sounds a little bit more reassuring Parsnip - hope those lovely movements continue but don't feel afraid to push it with the midwife or go to a walk in clinic or something.

I had the most horrible dream last night... I dreamt I went for my 20 week scan, and that to check the baby for abnormalities, they TAKE THE BABY OUT, check it over and then PUT IT BACK IN AGAIN! Little bit weird. But when they were checking baby (who was a girl in the dream - also weird as I've been convinced its a boy and now I'm not sure!), they cut these tiny little lines into her face and started threading string round her. Apparently, how the string falls in relation to the cuts they'd made, indicated that she had 11 brain tumours. Then I went into meltdown mode and kept collapsing on the floor. And then, of course, baby could talk and was saying how much she was looking forward to meeting her grandparents, whilst philosophising about how precious time was.

SO WEIRD.

frozensmoothie · 17/12/2015 10:48

Sorry to hear that the midwife was unhelpful Parsnip but glad that you're feeling movement.

Oh no Toffee that dream sounds scary. I was convinced I was having a boy but it's a girl so you never know! It must have been a night for horrible dreams last night. In my dream I went to the loo and started bleeding heavily and passing clots, I woke up in a panic before I realised it was just a dream. My anxiety is clearly running sky high again even though I only had a scan 2 days ago Confused

cantbelieveImquittingcoffee · 17/12/2015 13:18

toffee that dream is SO trippy!! Did you read about mine the other day where the baby's whole torso materialised out of my stomach (scaring a child who was nearby at the time) - so fascinating (and scary) what our brains can make up!!
I hit 20 weeks today and have been feeling like a new woman the past 2 weeks or so - after feeling like I was totally cracking up for quite a while it's a massive relief to feel sane again!!

ODog · 17/12/2015 15:32

Glad you are feeling reassured parsnip.

I had a weird baby dream last night too. Must have been a funny moon or something. Ghost babies coming out of vintage prams for me. Very spooky.

Got my scan tomorrow. Keep getting waves told nerves. I want to be excited about finding out the sex but I want to know they can't find any of the HUGE list of anomolies first. Hopefully I'll find out if they will start the routine 36wk scans in time for us too. Then I can go on holiday feeling relaxed about it all.

ParsnipSoup · 17/12/2015 18:25

Are you all eating too much cheese before bedtime?! What an awful and strange bunch of dreams! I've had some odd dreams but nothing as scary as those sound. Before I was even pregnant I had a dream that I delivered a teeny prem baby at work but no one would let me put it in an incubator until I'd finished my shift.

Good luck tomorrow ODog!

PinkBubbles1 · 17/12/2015 23:24

Hi guys, I'm sorry I haven't posted for ages. I think bish was going to add me to the fb group. Someone added me as a freind then I went away for the weekend and had shocking service. When I got back that person was no longer in my friends list for me to contact. If anyone would be happy to find out if I can still be added that would be great. Thank u! Blush

PinkBubbles1 · 17/12/2015 23:29

Actually I think I've found her again!! I'll try contact tomorrow!! Ignore me!!

PinkBubbles1 · 17/12/2015 23:38
