I've just bought a coat, two dresses and some leggings from New Look, I can't bring myself to spend too much on maternity clothes (even though DH wants another 2-3 after this one!) but I wanted something nice as I'm feeling fat and horrible! It's my birthday next week and I've asked family for New Look vouchers so I can buy some other bits.

I promised myself I'd relax after the 3 month scan but I'm really struggling, I hope I start feeling movement soon! Hope everyone else is doing ok.

frozensmoothie · 19/11/2015 10:30

Thanks for the maternity clothes tips! I'm still in my normal clothes at the moment but I'm sure it won't be long. I don't want to spend too much on maternity clothes either, especially as I'm trying to save up so I can take a years maternity leave.

I'm struggling to relax too GunShot I said the same, that I'd relax after the 12 week scan but I just can't. I really hope I start to feel movement soon too. I feel like everything's in limbo at the moment and I won't know if everything's ok until the 20 week scan or I start to feel movement.

ODog · 19/11/2015 11:03

Had my 16wk appt today and heard the heartbeat which was nice. DS was not thrilled that someone was poking my tummy with a loud stick though so we had cuddles while she listened which was super nice. Cuddling my big baby while listening to my little babies heartbeat.Smile

I haven't felt any definite movements yet but from last time, movements, or lack thereof, caused me even more worries.

fizzydrink1807 · 19/11/2015 11:47

Anyone else suffer with migraines? My midwife did tell me that they might get worse which they definitely have! Am getting 1 a week at the moment. Have spoken to my doctor, can take paracetamol, which is not really touching it or co-codamol but there is a risk to the baby so i have refused this.
Really struggling at work today Sad

GrouchyKiwi · 19/11/2015 12:22

fizzy How miserable. I had a lot of them in the first trimester but they seem to have eased off now. Do you have any idea if they are triggered by anything? Do they happen after less sleep, or too much sleep, or when you've had caffeine? Do you get them with aura (ie vision disturbance, numbness or buzzing, difficulty talking and/or reading, things like that)?

My migraines are often sleep triggered, and I find that having a strong black coffee and some chocolate when I notice the first signs of aura (my hands feel like they don't belong to me and I get buzzing around my mouth) helps to deal with them more quickly. Most often anyway. Sometimes nothing touches them.

Hope you find something that works; migraines are just awful.

fizzydrink1807 · 19/11/2015 12:36

I don't have aura no, but I do suffer with sickness with them. I don't think there is a particular trigger but i will start keeping track of them i think. I slept really well last night, which has been the first time in a while so wondering if it was maybe that?

cantbelieveImquittingcoffee · 19/11/2015 13:12

fizzy I feel for you! Have suffered a bit myself too but thankfully not every week. I have had mostly border-line migraines that go on for days on end rather than full blown ones, had one for 5 days the other week and went for a massage which got rid of it. Not a cheap solution but really worked and touch wood I haven't had a headache since!

TiffanyAtBreakfast · 19/11/2015 15:47

Sorry you're struggling fizzy, sending sympathy and Brew

Just a quick tip for any other curvier mums to be on here... I've just discovered that Asda's maternity range goes up to a size 24 and may have had a tiny happy tears moment at finally finding some affordable plus size maternity clothes

VickyHW · 19/11/2015 16:44

Glad your scan went well fizzy - glad I'm not the only one having an awkward camera-shy baby! Sorry to hear about the migraines :(

I had my quad blood screening thingy this morning, was fine, just a blood test. Ended up crying at the nurse and having a massive panic attack on the way home and wasn't able to go on to work though, just so worried that there's something wrong. I know I was this worried about the 12 week scan and it was ok-ish, but I'm just terrified and paranoid. The anxiety just keeps creeping in, I'm becoming more and more agoraphobic and OCD, and I've even started noticing little bits of old eating disorder habits popping up, I just want to fast forward the next few months. We're going to have a private scan in a few weeks because I really want to see her again and try and put my mind at rest a bit.

Good tip on Asda Tiffany - didn't realise they did maternity clothes!

Oh and I think I might have the linea nigra thing now? Had to take my tights off in case it's just from the seam in them haha, will check again later!

cantbelieveImquittingcoffee · 19/11/2015 19:40

Sending hugs vicky, I definitely notice that my mental balance is not what it was, partly due to the hormones. What is the quad screening though? I missed a day of work after my booking in appointment with the midwife because I was so completely freaked out, with no good reason!!

29redshoes · 19/11/2015 21:55

I'm interested in the quad test too vicky, did you get it through the NHS? I think I've read a little bit about it, is it the one which can identify neural tube defects and Down's syndrome?

Sorry you're having a tough time Flowers

VickyHW · 19/11/2015 22:32

If you have an awkward baby who doesn't want to move into a position where the sonographer can do a NT measurement, you can't have the normal combined test so the NHS offer the quad screening which is just a blood test. The just use it for Down syndrome here, not sure if it can predict The likelihood of anything else though. I've read conflicting things about its accuracy, don't think it's as good as the combined screening. If I get a high risk I guess we'll do the harmony test (lol bye savings) it's just the wait I can't handle!

Bishboshbash · 21/11/2015 07:26

Morning!
I have replied to all my pms now so if you requested to join the fb group I have either befriended you on fb or sent you a message if I can't find you!
What is everyone up to today? DH is away for the weekend to Spain so I have a whole weekend of toddler entertaining, joy! At least it has stopped raining and blowing a gale here though.
I really need to get some maternity trousers now my bump seems to be huge already and I'm only 14 weeks! Also need to get some kind of comfy bra from in the house, has anyone got any recommendations where to get one?

Elephantslovetofly · 21/11/2015 10:30

Morning all, hope you're all doing ok. I've woken up with a headache :-(

Sorry to hear about your worries Vicky - hopefully a lot of it is just down to pregnancy hormones and things will get better soon. I am now just over 16 weeks and I do think the hormones are starting to settle down!

I had my 16 week midwife appointment this week, heard the baby's heartbeat! BP was ok but I had some protein in my urine so I need to keep an eye on that....

I've bought some maternity jeans (stretchy ones) from H&M, which seem nice. I've also found some seraphine dresses on eBay which seem huge at the moment! I'm definitely getting a bit of a bump though, so the extra room will be needed very soon

Bish I only ever really buy bras from M&S, I've had a couple of non-wired ones from there which are ok, and reasonably priced. It's just a bit of a hassle standing and facing a wall of bras, trying to find some in your size, but I got there in the end!

cantbelieveImquittingcoffee · 21/11/2015 11:29

Ahhh Saturday, the day for domestic rows and DIY trips...
Am I the only one whose partner seems to have no clue what a pregnant woman is capable of or happy to do? Mine wants me to cycle great distances across London to various kitchen supply ships and doesn't seem to understand that I am a) too tired, b)too nervous and c) pretty slow on my bike...
Other times he is super protective so it seems to make no sense!

Bishboshbash · 21/11/2015 12:17

Yes Can't I think until you have a massive bump(and even then) men seem to forget that you are even pregnant!

frozensmoothie · 21/11/2015 13:53

Afternoon everyone! We've just been doing all the domestic chores and online food order this morning. Popped into town but its blowing a gale and freezing out there! We're going suit shopping for DP this afternoon.

Hope you're not going to cycle can't I've given up on the cycling since I've been pregnant, I was always slow and nervous too!

I got my maternity bras from Debenhams Bish

17 weeks tomorrow and I'm not sure if I'm feeling movements yet or not. I hope it becomes more obvious soon!

cantbelieveImquittingcoffee · 21/11/2015 14:37

frozen I had been ok about cycling short distances but not wanting to go far (which I never really wanted to do anyway!!). It was the first time in my bike in about 3 weeks and it feels less fun than last time I was on it...
Haven't felt any definite movements myself yet either, I thought I did during the night the other day but I also had my first dream about actually having a baby (a girl!) that night so might have been part of the dream!

fizzydrink1807 · 23/11/2015 08:27

Morning! hope everyone has had a lovely weekend
i have booked my parentcraft classes this morning!

lovesLemonDrizzleCake · 23/11/2015 09:48

Morning all, sorry to have been very absent. Just a quick question, is anyone else feeling way better now we're in (or near) second trimester? I am 15 weeks tomorrow and actually feel fine. I have no bump (although my jeans don't do up anymore, I seem to just have lost my waist), and I am full of energy again. Rather than being grateful it's reason for me to panick... And it feels like an age til my sixteen week appointment (a week on Wednesday).

ODog · 23/11/2015 10:25

This thread has gone very quiet as I suspect a lot of people are on the FB page.

Exciting that you have already booked parentcraft classes fizzy. Feel like my bump has popped out a little by over the weekend or it could just be all the food I ate . Also starting to feel some little pokes down low where the baby was when the midwife listened to HB on Thursday so that's all very exciting.

Bought the first baby grow for this one at the weekend. It seemed so tiny compared to the 18-24month ones I'm used to.

frozensmoothie · 23/11/2015 10:57

Morning everyone. It's a shame the thread has gone so quiet but hopefully more people will be along soon!

I've been feeling much better since 15/16 weeks so I wouldn't worry. I'm 17 weeks and I think a little bump popped out over the weekend. Before then it just looked like extra flab but now it feels harder and looks more bump like rather than just fat! It's still quite small though but I have quite a long torso so I guess there is more room to spread out!

I think I've been feeling little pokes too but not sure if it's the baby or not. I haven't felt any flutters yet.

cantbelieveImquittingcoffee · 23/11/2015 11:43

Morning all!
I am suddenly feeling COMPLETELY exhausted and cried at work this morning when one of my staff told me they weren't available to work a particular shift...16 and a half weeks and I feel rubbish! I can't work out if it's because I have been over-doing it after a busy week and tiring weekend...or maybe a growth spurt? My bump is unmistakable now and my BF says I'm walking differently already, and there is still so long to go!!

VickyHW · 23/11/2015 14:11

ODog I've been feeling tiny little soft poking thingys too, not sure if its the baby or just general burbly insides! It's very faint whatever it is.

lovesLemon I just said to someone on the FB page that I feel less "pregnant" now which is a bit weird and disconcerting! Better than feeling terrible though :)

One thing I have been having for the past week or so is nightmares, I was saying to my husband recently that vivid dreams are a pregnancy symptom and I hoped I got them - didn't want nightmares!! I've been waking up properly sobbing and then unable to sleep for an hour or so afterwards, total pain!

AND another gross symptom - has anyone grown any skin tags? I've noticed three tiny ones, on my neck and collarbone. Apparently they're common, but why?! Go away!!

fizzydrink1807 · 23/11/2015 14:22

Yes to Skin tags! didn't realise they were related to pregnancy. found a new one on my neck a couple of days ago
