Has anybody found out the sex yet?? I got the results of my Harmony back & it's a boy. DD keeps telling me she wants a sister so I'm a bit upset when she says that. I don't have any brothers/male cousins either. Tell me lovely stories about little boys..
Lovely to see al the scan pics!

cantbelieveImquittingcoffee · 13/11/2015 09:07

p we had harmony test but opted not to find out. My BF was adamant we had to find out so I enjoyed the little victory of keeping it a surprise, hope this baby keeps it's legs crossed on the 20 week scan! My sister had a boy last year after 2 girls and he is an ANGEL, super laid-back as a newborn though now at 20 months he is into EVERYTHING!! So lovely to have one of each though :)

starkers1 · 13/11/2015 09:25

P for Pete, boys are brilliant!! When he starts speaking and says mummy and wants constant cuddles, it breaks your heart, they all turn into little mummies boys and want affection far more and for longer than little girls (so I've heard). He'll always be by your side and as he grows up into a strapping, strong man to have a son always supporting you is just amazing. 2 girls would be my worst scenario possible, think you are very lucky!!

ODog · 13/11/2015 11:41

How exciting that you know already pis. I have a DS who is 17mo. Boys are great! Very different to girls from the girls I know of a similar age, but great fun and he does throw himself at me to give the best cuddles and kisses. I grew up with 2 brothers and we are all 3 pretty close even though we live all over the world now. Your DD will love him!

Anyone else finding out at the 20wk scan? We didn't find out with DS but I think I want to this time, just for it to be different.

In less nice news, I think I have thrush and the pharmacist won't give me anything when I'm pg so I'm seeing the gp later today. Oh well, at least the prescription will be free!

Also looking forward to my first pre-natal yoga class tomorrow.

VickyHW · 13/11/2015 11:58

I can't believe people know what they're having already!!

Odog I found out I had thrush at my first cervix check (had no symptoms so had no idea) and the EPU said I could take OTC medication, went to Boots at they said nooooooo no pharmacists will give pregs thrush medication without so prescription so had to go to my GP (and have the terrible receptionist shout that i had thrush to a doctor across the full waiting room as I didn't have an appointment) was such a faff!

I've realised now my due date has changed, I'll actually be 18 weeks for my 16 week appointment, do you think I should I try and move it forwards?

GunShotResidue · 13/11/2015 16:21

I'll be 17 weeks at the 16 week appointment but I don't think I'm going to change it. I can't remember what they do but I don't think it will hurt being a week or two out.

They won't tell you the sex here, so we might get a private scan whilst we're staying with family for christmas. My sister and MIL will be able to come along too, I know they both wish we lived closer so they could be more involved. We did the same with DD.

Bishboshbash · 13/11/2015 19:07

I think its more you have to be at least 16 weeks or they won't try and listen for the heartbeat. I can't see how being later would make a difference Vicky.

I have my midwife appointment on Monday and I will only be 15+4 days so I guess no heartbeat checking for me! The midwife told me though that they start doing appointments from the time when they can feel the baby from the outside - seems unlikely that that is possible at the moment! I'm wondering if my appointment is too early as it's based on the date they gave me from my LMP (which I knew was wrong) rather than on my dates. Oh well, too late to change it now!

ODog · 14/11/2015 09:40

cant - I will be 15+6 at my appt on Thursday and I will certainly be asking the mw to try if she doesn't offer. Iirc last time they said they will try but won't make referral for a scan if they don't find a heartbeat with a Doppler at this early stage. I think if the baby/placenta is in a reasonable position and you are fairly slim it's normally found at this stage.

frozensmoothie · 14/11/2015 10:29

I will be 16+1 at my 16 week appointment on Monday so really hope they try and listen to the heartbeat. The midwife said not to make the appointment until I'd had the dating scan so that they knew that I would definitely be 16 weeks, so fingers crossed!

Elephantslovetofly · 14/11/2015 14:02

Lots of 16 week appointments coming up! Mine is on Wednesday, I will be 15+6

Anyone know what else they will do at this appointment?

ODog · 14/11/2015 15:44

I think it's just the normal blood pressure/urine checks, quick feel of your belly and heartbeat.

jemimastar · 14/11/2015 20:36

Im 14 weeks today and have heart heartbeat with my own doppler every day this week. If I can find it, not sure why a MW cant (and yes I do know what I looking out for/sounds like as used it with DS).

Bishboshbash · 14/11/2015 22:02

I think it's more that they don't want to cause unnecessary worry if they couldn't find it Jemima, which is why they don't want to try before then, 16 weeks must be at a point where they should be able to hear it iyswim.

I had a consultant appt at 14+2 and the mw assisting listened to the hb, then the following week at 15+2 my community mw listened. I didn't ask,and didn't expect either. I've been feeling flutterings since 13+ weeks too.

StormTr00per · 15/11/2015 11:15

They don't do a 16 week appointment where I am. I just get the scan/booking etc at 12 weeks then next scan at 20 weeks.. nothing in between. I've booked a private gender scan for next Saturday as it's a loooong time to wait otherwise!

PisforPeter · 15/11/2015 11:46

12w scan for us tomorrow, getting excited now!

ODog · 15/11/2015 12:00

Good lucky for tomorrow pis. Just got all my maternity clothes out of the loft. I remember thinking I was going to throw most of them as I was so sick of wearing the same stuff by the end but I had forgotten about a lot of it so I was pleasantly surprised. Not really planning on wearing much of it yet as I am still footing in most of my normal clothes but I wanted to see what I had so I could pick boys up as and when I see them. Although I swear I was bigger than this at this point last time and I thought you are meant to get bigger quicker with second pregnancies.

Thanks for info on the 16 week scan! Wish me luck on trying to get hold of my widwife this week haha.

Hello Minx! Good luck for your scan, and PisforPeter, and everyone else who's got them this week!

Is anyone else feeling a bit less...pregnant somehow around now? My boobs still hurt, I'm hormonal crying a lot, tired, legs ache, tummy getting bigger, all those brilliant symptoms, but I keep forgetting I'm pregnant! I know you're supposed to feel a bit better going into the second trimester so maybe it's that, maybe it's anxiety lifting a bit. Weird though!

In other news, just managed our first shag since the bleeding/anxiety started, hooray (sorry haha)!

PearlyFish · 15/11/2015 21:28

15+2 here. Tentatively trying to get back into exercise as my energy levels improve. Had a little swim this week and planning to start doing a pregnancy yoga DVD. Managing ok in stretchy leggings and not needed to break out the maternity wear yet! Probably won't be long tho. I was wearing a few things by 16 weeks last time but I think that was premature and driven more by enthusiasm than actual need.

Lovely scans grouchy and tiff and exciting that you already know the sex peter. Good luck for your scan tomorrow!

PearlyFish · 15/11/2015 21:37

Sorry to hear your news Evs Flowers

cantbelieveImquittingcoffee · 16/11/2015 07:43

God well done vicky -haven't felt like like DTD at all and yet all the pregnancy books seem to say that everyone becomes a raging beat between the sheets after 12 weeks - that can't be true, can it?? I reckon if we manage an average of once a month we are doing ok!! Falling slightly behind as I enter my 4th month but can't seem to muster up the enthusiasm...
Anyone else? "Raging horny beast" or don't even think about it, which is more
