sher a little more information for you: the flu vaccine is more for mum than baby - pregnant women seem to be more susceptible to complications from flu, and there are some medications that are normally very effective but cannot be used on pregnant patients because they are known to cause harm to the baby, so it's much harder to treat.

Trinpy all the mention of heartburn on the thread made me wonder if that's part of your chest pain? I had an utter panic about 18 months ago with terrible chest pain, and it turned out I was just having horrific heartburn. It can be brought on or made worse by anxiety.

I'm nicely rounding out in front, can rest my hands on my bump. Having a tough time finding plus size maternity wear (again). I'm on the 18/20 borderline on the bottom, so jeans are fine, got those sorted ages ago, but my tops are starting to get too short, and maternity (especially nursing) tops are impossible when you're 38HH. I did get a couple of good maternity 3/4 sleeve t-shirts from Bonprix, but had to return all the nursing tops in the same bloody size. I'm in the US for a few days and there's a shop here I've heard is good so will try there, but otherwise I may have to resort to sewing my own.

The plane today was hilarious - baby bumped along every time there was turbulence! Also she liked Ant Man.

ffauxlivia · 29/10/2015 02:08

Congrats Embolio and welcome 1french and neh

neh I'm 24th march and also have my 20 week scan next Friday! Nice to have someone else around the same time as it's been a long wait hearing all the lovely news of everyone else's scans over the last few weeks! Am very anxious about it though as worried haven't felt any movement yet and hardly have any bump, even though I know that's perfectly normal for the first! Is this your first?

There's a spreadsheet somewhere which says where everyone is from - someone with more know-how than me will hopefully post it again and you can add yourself to it!

ffauxlivia · 29/10/2015 02:13

oh yay I found it! Google spreadsheet: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1CWO_z74sygCKB3cdMb7jXf2VP1TwJB8KCTF-M5XbTyY/edit#gid=0

IndomitabIe · 29/10/2015 08:14

neh & ffaux my scan was next Friday but is now the following Tuesday (at 20+6). Ah well.

I keep swinging between girl/boy. This pg has been quite different to with DS.

It doesn't really matter - priority is a healthy baby and all that, and ideally the consultant will let me deliver at the local MLU.

I can't believe it's Thursday already. Why do half terms go quicker than term time?

Woah, just had a mega trapped-wind spasm. That was worse than labour!

maybebabybee · 29/10/2015 08:30

Whoops, just commented on the old thread saying it was quiet - didn't realise there was a new one!!! Blush

TriJo · 29/10/2015 09:39

Scan at 4pm today. Nervous and excited in roughly equal measures, trying not to think too much about it for now!

docmcstuffins1 · 29/10/2015 09:45

Flipping heck, I leave you lot alone for 24 hours and you go and not only start a new threat, but get above 100 posts!

Hope everyone's ok with all the heartburn and anger going around.

I also feel really fat, people have started commenting on how big my bum bump is (I'm 21+6), which REALLY doesn't help, but baby was measuring 50% on all measurements at 20 week scan so the rest must be fat!
Really want to do some exercise apart from walking, but no antenatal yoga anywhere near me (live in the countryside), I usually run and cycle, but have been to uncomfortable to do either since about 16 weeks. I feel like a fat lazy blob. May try swimming today and see if that makes me feel better.

QforCucumber · 29/10/2015 09:46

Good luck Tri - will you be finding out or joining the few of us having a surprise?

vroc81 · 29/10/2015 10:06

Welcome newbies, Congrats on the scan Embolio and sorry to hear about your friend. My friend who was only supposed to be about two months ahead of me on mat leave gave birth at 30 weeks last week and so far so good, although they are going to be spending some time in NICU, I guess its a good reminder that in my mind I sort of got the everything's fine at the 20 week scan and I'm like ok then roll on March and it doesn't always work like that..

Good luck for the scan this afternoon Trijo

TriJo · 29/10/2015 10:16

We'll be finding out - if only to make picking names easier! Probably won't say anything to family until around Christmas though.

TriJo · 29/10/2015 10:17

Doc If you've been having back/pelvis pain then getting in the water will be absolutely fantastic for you! So nice to take the weight off.

Missikat · 29/10/2015 10:49

Good luck for today Trijo! X

Tonideanna123 · 29/10/2015 11:12

Hello everyone,

qforcucumber- Thankyou for you support, yes that's all im thinking of my little man being here and I can get my body back soon.

Im feeling a little bit better today still not 100% though Sad. I had a little heart to heart with my partner last night, burst out crying and told him how I felt. He told me to not be stupid and of course im going to put on weight as im pregnant, I said but my legs feel huge. He told me I was beautiful and always will be, gave me lots of hugs and told me everything will be ok. Made me feel better but its still in my head, trying not to think of it as it makes me feel really down.

I may start going to yoga and swimming to help my back and its a bit of exercise too, so may make me feel better about myself.

Thankyou everyone xx

Me624 · 29/10/2015 11:19

I do Pilates which is really good for back pain. I've been going since long before my BFP and it's not a pregnancy class but my instructor is really good and is trained for both antenatal and postnatal Pilates. She adapts all the exercises for me that need to be (which is quite a lot now!)

I'd like to swim but I have a real aversion to public swimming pools! I hate them. DH will have to take our baby swimming instead of me! Going to a spa with my mum on Sunday though so will have a little swim there.

I've been feeling a lot more movement in the last few days which is so reassuring. I only felt the first movement this time last week but it's gradually increasing a bit more each day which is really nice.

Good luck for your scan Trijo

Tonideanna123 · 29/10/2015 11:25

Me624- Yes im going to have to do something to help me and like I said it will be a bit of exercise too. I love swimming , don't know whether to just go or to find a class for pregnant women.

I have been feeling my little man move for quite a while now and now the kicks and getting bigger and stronger now. The other day I had just got out the bath and moisturised and felt him kick so looked at my belly then I see him another two times. Was so nice I recorded it on my phone Smile

Cant wait till I see a little foot or hand come out Smile, even though it may be a bit weird lol

xx

Tonideanna123 · 29/10/2015 12:34

Going onto another subject, where would you say is a good place to buy bodysuits/vests/sleepsuits as I cant be spending a lot as I need to budget my money and I know you need quite a lot of them. I don't want my baby is cheap crappy clothes though so somewhere where you know there nice but reasonable prices please ? Also is everyone buying other things like outfits for there baby's , I've got a couple of dungaree sets which are so cute.

Thankyou xx

QforCucumber · 29/10/2015 12:37

toni we have bought most sleep suits and things from Tesco, sainsburys and Asda - They'll outgrow them so quickly and they're absolutely adorable!
Sainsburys have a great Disney range in at the moment (everything we have bough is white, grey, yellow or green as we don't know the sex)

QforCucumber · 29/10/2015 12:38

and we aren't bothering with the 'outfit' stuff as I'm more than aware that friends and family tend to buy the 'non-everyday' things as gifts haha!

Tonideanna123 · 29/10/2015 12:42

qforcucumber- thankyou, how many would you say you have got to buy ? and like what sizes as you don't know what baby is going to come out like. Sorry for all the questions probably sound thick but its all new to me and I don't want to waste my money

That's true, ive bought a couple of outfits as I couldn't resist lol
xx

IndomitabIe · 29/10/2015 12:43

Yes, I second the supermarket stuff. Sainsbury's seems to be my favourite for kids clothes.

And we're going with the sleepsuits rather than outfits for as long as possible too!

DS had reflux, so he'd go through several "costume changes" every day. And then grow out of them. Cheap & cheerful is best!

Man I feel bloated & uncomfortable today. Might have to get the exercise ball out - otherwise I'm spending the day on all 4s!

IndomitabIe · 29/10/2015 12:45

I'd get a couple of 3 packs of sleepsuits and a couple of 5 packs of vests (they get a bit pooey round the legs!)

From there it's not too difficult to pick up more in a particular size at short notice. And as people have said, family and friends will descend with cute outfits!

QforCucumber · 29/10/2015 12:48

This is my first too so all new to me, but a nephew and a niece both under 4 and another new niece born this last weekend have helped my perspective on things.
So far sleepsuit wise we have about 5 or 6, and the a multipack of asda vest thingys as they were teeny and adorable, just when I do the big shop I'll have a look about and if theres anything I can resist I'll get one.
I haven't bothered with 'tiny baby' ones but got newborn and 1-3 months.
My theory is that if I don't have enough I can always send someone to get more if needs, will buy a few more bits and pieces but as far as i know newborns really don't need much!
Did get some lovely little hats from tesco the other day too Smile

TheMshipIsBack · 29/10/2015 12:53

Toni Glad to hear you're feeling better, and what a lovely supportive partner you have. Exercise is a great way to boost your mood, and if you've had to stop your usual, maybe that's contributed to feeling down. My DH is a total crank if he doesn't cycle to work!

For inexpensive baby clothes, if you're in Scotland, there's the Jack and Jill markets. You pay a quid or two entrance fee but it's great for second hand barely used items - I tend to get the 'big' clothes like coats, pramsuits, etc. there. The other option I used a lot was bundles off gumtree or ebay, preferably gumtree as then you can go through the pile before buying and exclude anything that is too worn out. Babies don't care if their clothes are used, and no one but you needs to know.

I don't think it makes much sense to buy outfits for babies under 9 months (maybe for a special photo or event) as it is far easier in your sleep-deprived state to manage a simple bodysuit/sleepsuit combination (no effing socks!!!!). I also like the one piece romper suits for warmer weather - let their feet and arms go bare.

BeautifulLiar · 29/10/2015 12:57

Congrats Embolio and good luck for today Trijo!

RhubarbAndMustard · 29/10/2015 13:11

I love Sainsburys for kiddie clothes. Couldn't resist these and am going to stock up on vests, rompers and muslins while the sale is on. Grin
