Thankyou for all your comments everyone I get paid tomorrow so will be doing a little bit of shopping. My mum works in asda so I get discount too and in a couple of weeks there is a double discount event, so im going to go there then. Get some sleepsuits, vests and some nappies, wipes and cleaning bits, start stocking up lol as I know you need a lot of nappies at least lol.
Im not going to bother buying outfits as of yet as they grow so quickly and I love newborns in little all in ones. Not in jeans and tops and that like some people do but then that's up to them, its just not for me. I want them to be baby's for as long as they can lol. I will get some little like romper suits/ dungarees though as there so cute!!!! I cant resist lol!!

Hope you feel better IndomitabIe , get on your exercise ball lol
xx

Tonideanna123 · 29/10/2015 13:25

Aww that's cute rhubarb is there a sale on in there atm then xx

Missikat · 29/10/2015 14:01

I second the supermarkets for sleep suits and vests/bodysuits. They have some lovely designs.

Another great place for bit and pieces is TK Maxx, they have great sets, muslins, sleeping bags (growbags at really cheap prices). I got s gorgeous swaddled bag for DS from there and my first purchase for this one which was a lovely soft spotty snowsuit type thing (only £10 rrp £35).

With DS I had him in outfits from really young, it was summer so lots of cute shorts, short dungarees and rompers, but this one will be in sleep suits only for some time I think, it's much less hassle and no socks!

RhubarbAndMustard · 29/10/2015 14:30

Yep 25% off toni.
*
Missikat* good call on TK Maxx too. They do some great giant muslins which are handy for swaddling, covers for breast feeding etc.

Tonideanna123 · 29/10/2015 14:49

Thankyou everyone Smile. Looks like ill be going out this weekend spending haha. Ill have to look at Tk Maxx too, never thought of them before.

rhubarb thankyou Smile

Question everyone - are we meant to be monitoring baby's kicks at this point? Am 21+2 and seems to vary massively. Yesterday he was kicking away like a lunatic but stopped in the evening and today he's been super quiet - have felt him very gently a few times (I think) but hardly at all. I've had a fizzy drink and something sweet etc and doesn't seem to have done much.

I have a desk job so it's not like I'm running round all day unable to notice when he's moving. Just wonder what's normal? I had another day like this when he was very quiet and then the next day he was jumping about in there like an acrobat.

LCR77 · 29/10/2015 16:14

Can second Sainsburys for good quality basics. Also Boots Mini Club have some good offers. If need special/ smarter clothes tend to go to Next, JoJo Maman Bebe, M&S and Mini Boden. Don't forget ebay you can get some great bargain bundles. And ask friends you'll be amazed by how much people are willing to loan. Check end of season sales and stock up on following year sizes too.

For maternity wear New Look, Next and H&M are good especially if you don't want to fork out too much. Going up a size can work and empire line dresses with leggings are flattering to growing bumps. I've been in mat clothes for ages and made such a difference to feeling pregnant rather than 'fat' as they're more flattering.

Me624 · 29/10/2015 16:26

maybe you don't need to monitor until around 28 weeks. At 21+6 I have only just started feeling movement in this last week and it's very sporadic. We had a little active session this morning, a couple of movements around lunchtime and nothing since then. Before yesterday, I was only feeling it once a day max.

LCR77 · 29/10/2015 16:42

Think I've read somewhere too that monitoring kicks is from 28 weeks. If you have an anterior placenta it is a lot more difficult to monitor throughout pregnancy. If you have any concerns at all, speak to your midwife. Mine was pretty helpful, even offered for me to go into the end of clinic for listening to heartbeat if I was worried.

Trinpy · 29/10/2015 18:31

TheMship I had heartburn in the first trimester (from all the morning sickness I think!) and this feels different - sort of like a mild panic attack? I chickened out of calling my mw, just going to see how it goes...

I bought second hand bundles when ds was born and they were all in very good condition but lots of tiny outfits which I don't think I can be bothered with this time around. I'm hoping its another boy then I can just buy a few more sleepsuits and be done with it! I found rompers very good when the weather got warmer so will probably invest in some more of those. I really like Next plain white vests which come in packs of 5 too. They are reasonably priced but hold their shape better than any other I've tried and you can reuse for any future babies!

Definitely going for a trip to tk maxx once I've had my 20 week scan (only a week to go!).

Paperblank · 29/10/2015 19:18

Been poked and prodded and an armful of blood taken today and I've been stupidly on edge since last night's row and so I am feeling quite sorry for myself now.

Had my consultant appointments this afternoon and they said I was anaemic so have got to take iron tablets and fybogel to keep me regular (eugh).

Me and the baby are going for a soak in the bath with a cuppa and a cheese scone and I might do a bit of sneaky eBaying and get the baby some bits.

Hope you're all okay - hello to the new ladies Grin nice to see you!

dobbythedoggy · 29/10/2015 19:31

I'm lying on my bed waiting for dd to settle to sleep in her room. I just haven't got the energy to go up and down the stairs more than once tonight. Hopefully she'll be asleep soon as she's been shatered all afternoon.

Heartburn is hellish. Annoying me so much I saw the gp last friday and got something prescribed. Unfortantly all the acid suppersor has done is made me feel sick again. Will have to make another trip into the surgery to see him. For some strange reason rennies make me gag, they did when I was pregnant with dd. Can stomach gaverscon and one of the tesco own brand heart burn tablets.

Bump is a propper little tigger. Dh can now see him kicking from across the room despite 2-3 layers of clothing covering him at 22 weeks. So different from dd, she just streched from time to time, and didn't feel her move until 26 weeks.

Strangly some of the best vests and sleepsuits we had for dd appear to have been from Primark. We did get loads from there as they were selling off at 50p a pack just before she was born. I remember them being worn loads but they still seem in really good condition. Everything of dd's was worn and washed loads, sicky and dh was rubish at doing up nappies to begin with. Nutmeg (morrisions) stuff seems to have worn well too, tesco and sainsbury's a close second. I much prefured stuff with folding over sleves rather than needing to faff with scratch mits.

MercuryRising · 29/10/2015 20:47

Hi ladies can I join you? I will be 20 weeks tomorrow and have my scan in the morning. This will be dc3 for us, but my youngest is 7 so it feels almost like the first time. I had largely forgotten what pregnancy is like and from everything I have read it seems that the guidelines on so many things have changed.

I'm looking forward to seeing my baby again tomorrow although dp is inable to be there due to work commitments so my dm is coming instead.

I have read the second page of this thread and would also recommend supermarkets for reasonably priced vests and sleepsuits. We are a lot more budget conscious now than when I was pregnant with dd and we have picked up some good quality bargains from NCT sales and facebook selling pages.

1frenchfoodie · 29/10/2015 21:06

dobby kicks visible from across the room at 22wks, impressive! I've felt kicks for the last 5 wks (I am 21+4) but baby never obliges when OH tries to feel so he's not felt a single kick, much less seen them. We have been living 3h apart and spending 4 nights a week together for 4years and tomorrow finally move in together so he should have more luck then.

Feeling bad for all the heartburn sufferers, I had a day where it seemed non stop but very little since (fingers crossed)

MyNameIsSuz · 29/10/2015 21:10

Welcome Mercury!

I just ate ruined pizza, dh stuck it on tray for me before he went out and it still had the polystyrene thing under it, looked ok so I ate some. I did stop when I realised it tasted bad. Now I'm panicking that I've ingested something deadly! Who thinks I'm going to die, hands up?

shieldbug · 29/10/2015 21:10

Hello all.

embolio I was wondering how you were. Congrats on your girl. Like you, I have 2 ds and suspect (but don't know) this one might be a girl.

beautiful how are you doing? You seem like a very resourceful and strong person and whatever happens you will manage. I really hope you and dh find greater stability and all works out for the best. Thinking of you.
hello mercury good luck for tomorrow.

dobby I agree that the foldover sleeves are far better than scratch mitts.

I have a whole load of neutral babygrows so can just dress dc3 in hand me downs whichever sex it proves to be. They were almost all from the supermarkets or mothercare and are fine 3rd time round. Don't forget it will be quite cold for a baby so I recommend buying/making things that can layer up especially for taking the baby outside. I seem to remember ds2 (also a March baby) wore vest, babygrow, leggings, t-shirt and cardigan/coat to venture outside. I also found all-in-one fleeces to be great for a spring baby.

Also getting heartburn here but thankfully it is currently quite sporadic.

A friend and I asked her Mum when she thought I was due and she said she thought I was overdue, judging by the size of my bump. She thought I was taking the mick when I told her March! Hope that cheers anybody up who is feeling large...you can't beat me! I honestly look full term, but that's just because of the fibroids.

shieldbug · 29/10/2015 21:11

Sorry suz cross posted. My hand's up.

QforCucumber · 29/10/2015 21:14

Who knows suz melted polystyrene may be the amazing cure for heartburn and windyness that we've all been looking for Grin

shieldbug · 29/10/2015 21:14

Reckon polystyrene will pass through pretty undigested as it's such a complex molecule. You should be fine, especially as I doubt you ate much if you stopped when it tasted nasty. I've ruined pizza like that before and it's so annoying.

MyNameIsSuz · 29/10/2015 21:23

Thanks guys - just to clarify, I didn't actually eat any polystyrene, the pizza base was clean. Just tasted... petroly.

Couldn't be added to cook anything else (had a very busy day!) so just had ice cream.

IndomitabIe · 29/10/2015 21:38

Ah Suz! I think you'll be fine! How disappointing about the pizza, that's the kind of thing I can't handle and would have been unreasonably angry about. (I don't cope well when I'm hungry!)

Good luck with the move 1french.

Hi Mercury!

I'm impressed with the visible kicks. DH hasn't felt anything yet. After being all uncomfortable earlier, the Floating One seems to have vanished! I assume it's horizontal and back to back, so I can't feel any solid bits this evening. And it seems to be asleep now - lots of wriggles and tickles today, but nothing now.

TriJo · 29/10/2015 22:50

All good at the scan, we're having a boy! My husband is absolutely delighted :)

MercuryRising · 29/10/2015 23:14

Congratulations on your boy Trijo

I don't think you will suffer any ill effects Suz although I must admit I would have had a bit of a meltdown about the pizza. I'm another one who can't cope with being hungry even when I'm not pregnant.

TheMshipIsBack · 30/10/2015 00:02

trinpy call your mw! They would far rather you called and it was nothing than you didn't and something treatable was missed. Whether it's heartburn manifesting differently than in the first tri, panic attacks, a heart problem, or baby kicking you in a weird way, you should go in. You sounded really scared the other day and some real life support is called for. [hugs]

dobby Oooh visible kicks ... I can't wait. Baby's been lumping and bumping all day long but nothing visible from outside yet.

Trijo Congratulations! Boy poo-splosions are easier to clean Grin

suz I hope the ice cream helped.

MyNameIsSuz · 30/10/2015 06:01

Yay TriJo, boys are ace! The clothes are far more badass.

I'm impressed by the visible kicks too! I've had plenty of thumping around but feels very far inside still. I do tend to carry any extra weight on my stomach though so possibly have more of a barrier!
