Ok I am just asking what is wrong with eating seafood during pregnancy. I have never been told, in my many lists of things to stay away from, that seafood is bad, unless it is undercooked. I know to stay away from the high mercury fish, but why seafood?

Thanks MKG and Lildrummer. MKG, that's interesting that its so common, it does actually make me feel better about wanting to have it done. And feel HUGELY better that you said, "no big deal" about the aftercare. I was really worried about that and with so few people here having it done; there's nobody to ask!

Will have another chat to DH about it nearer the time IF it's a boy. No point in giving it too much brain time until it's actually an issue.

How about IntheseFurrySnowBoots or similar?

Pebblemum, your poor son. Is he ok now?

Oh MKG, i never heard seafood either. Only raw/ partially cooked. (Not that I pay ANY attention to this stuff anyway.)

Had a massive plate of mussels the other week and as I am not talking to all from the "other side"; I guess it was ok?

Hi gorgeous ladies - are you watching this horrendous programme about someone who went into a maternity unit and died of MRSA?

As if we didn't have enough to worry about - its just awful.

Sorry - I'm always bloody whining!

Juicy - I'm 15 weeks today. Can't feel a thing either!

Can someone talk me through changing my name to a Xmas one? I'm rubbish at all this.

Some sensitive advice too please ladies - one of my friends told me last week that she ws 9 weeks, after enduring two miscarriages. I have text her a couple of times enquiring as to how she is, but haven't heard anything since Thursday. Should I keep trying or let her get in touch. I am worried something has happened, and don't want to pry but also want her to know I am here. Conscious that if something has happened I will prob be the last person she wants contact with at the mo.

xx

Pink Jenny-
To change you name go to "your registration". It's easy from there.

RE you friend--Let her call you back. She may just be really busy.

Pinkjennyjoytotheworld · 04/12/2006 20:50

MKG - thanks, on both counts.

I guess I'm just worried about her - but I know she'll get in touch eventually.

twelvedaysofchristmas · 04/12/2006 21:04

She may also be VERY tired (we all know what that time was like.) I couldn't face even picking up the phone when I was 9 weeks. Or, she may be afraid to jinx it by talking about it.

Fingers crossed it goes ok for her this time.

I really hope so. I remember just feeling so sick that I couldn't face talking to anyone at all.

I still feel bloody knackered all the time though. Having serious drama with dh - I said he had toothache? Well he has an abcess and has been suffering now since Thursday. He had a root filling today but the dentist has called and said his x-ray has shown a bit of nerve still left in. He's in so much pain, bless him, but he's driving me insane now.

I'm hoping this is honing my patience and mother teresa skills for the baby.

hi ladies,

I can't keep up with you and my brain is far too fuddled to think up a clever christmas name like you've all done.

12days, my DS has been circumcised in the UK. If I can be of any help answering any questions, please let me know.

Not that i'm wishing a headache on anyone, but I'm so glad that it isn't just me. I've been getting dull headaches for about a week now. Dont seem to remember this from last time.

Has anyone else accepted the inevitable and moved into maternity clothes yet?

Report
JonahB · 04/12/2006 21:26

Pink, I am far far more tolerant with my DS than my DH. I have absolutely no patience at all with DH when he complains about an illness (I am so horrid), however DS will get cuddles and more cuddles whenever and wherever.

It's such a good job i'm having a 2nd, at least i won't have a totally spoilt little boy in the house

I'm maternity pants, mainly, because my regular one creat a big bulge, but I'm still in regular shirts.

Thanks JonahB! If we find out in Jan this is a boy, then I will def come back to you, if that's ok. And have been in maternity for weeks! I decided not to bother buying bigger sizes and go straight to maternity. I was busting out of my trousers by about week 8 and my boobs had already grown two cup sizes.

Jonah - the headaches are a right nuisance as paracetomol doesn't really make any difference to me at all.

Maternity clothes - I'm still in my 'fat' clothes, but am going to have to succumb to some black trousers and jeans at least. Don't want to spend too much too soon though as I reckon I'll be huge. I still feel a fraud buying maternity clothes as I still just look fat, not necessarily pg.

The catalogues depress me, all size 6 with watermelons stuck up their piggin' jumpers.

If you look carefully, you'll see that most maternity pics are photoshopped. Look at things like maternity underwear pictures. The bumps are a bit blurry. It's hysterical.

Although I have just eaten a family sized bag of Revels. Didn't offer dh any - on account of his tooth.

Picked out all the raisins, naturally, so that was some calories saved.

hi all.
i'm here, just not much to say. feeling pretty crap again. the morning sickness as i knew it before is gone but in its place is the frequent feeling that if i don't run to the loo i will get sick all over. not fun. and i am definitely in the headache club too.
a few days ago i wrote a super long post about my shoulder problems, my recent trip to ohio for thanksgiving and how dh and i had a few days of not being very nice to eachother. and then i went to bed. the next morning i was sorta sad that no one here seemed to care about my problems but then i looked for my post and couldn't find it. it must have gotten lost in the internet abyss. my shoulder feels lots better now (thanks to some codeine and physical therapy) and dh and i are all better. all that is left to complain about are the headaches and vom-fests. everything else is pretty good. i no longer feel like i need to sleep all day and i actually made some things this week. i sew and sell my stuff in stores but haven't felt like working on anything since the morning sickness and fatigue set in. it is such a relief to create something again. ahhh. much better.
i should have known better than to think you all would have ignored me.
can you believe i have my twenty week scan tomorrow? i can't. i am super excited but really nervous. this new little one doesn't seem to move. i thought i felt flutters weeks ago but nothing since. we shall see he/she tomorrow afternoon. btw, we are not finding out the sex. i love the surprise of finding out in the end too much.
i sure said a lot for not having anything to say. keeping up has been difficult because you ladies have a lot to say. welcome to the new ladies. i look forward to getting to know you.
why can't we be angry and festive at the same time? Xmas Angry
[sgrin]

12days ? no problem at all. Ask me again in Jan if necessary and a fifth limb shows up on the scans ?
I am remembering why I love the ante-natal threads so much. Every time I log on, I think, ?thank heavens it?s not just me?. Don't know if its due to 2nd time around, but I look huge. I could easily pass for 5-6 months by the end of the day. My boobs have grown 2 cup sizes as well. DH thinks Christmas has come early.
Pink, lolls re picking out the raisins. I sank my way through an M&S chocolate steamed pudding last night, ensuring that every last drop of sauce was consumed. Mmmmm.....
Jess, good luck for the scan tomorrow. I?m quite envious. I?d love to skip forward 4-5 weeks.

12doc - we had our son circumcised because my husband is from a (nonpracticing) jewish background. They put a little plastic ring around the end of the willy and then it just falls off - I think that is what they do to puppy's tails too! It really did not seem to worry him at all. If you do want to get it done then it is worth asking your midwife about it in advance. In my hospital (Kettering) only one consultant would do it and not for cosmetic reasons (ie only cultural) but I think it depends where you are. He had it done at about 3 days I think.

Anyone had any thoughts about pillows?

thanks ldk! I like it! - will get working on changing name (and I agree about xmas cards - have put them all in a bag but done nothing else with them)

snap - antenatal threads are sooo necessary for making one feel slightly better. at least I'm not the only hormonal one pretending she doesn't have to write out xmas cards yet...!!!

To change name: click here and login. Then just type in a new chat nickname and save changes. Then go to Talk and whey-hey!!!

Oh and codeine is allowed??? You mean last year (when pg) and my back was killing me, I could have taken some??? GAHHHHHHHHH

Jess- there you are! Of course we wouldn't ignore you. Quite a few of us have been wondering where you are and worrying about you. Glad you're still around and great news on the shoulder feeling better. Let us know how the scan goes. Gotta wait until January 3rd for mine... tick tock ...

It's ShowOfHands btw, full of festive madness.

Glad to see you back Jess and glad your shoulder is better if not the sickness.

I have my 20 week scan on Friday and can't wait. Feeling quite a lot of movement I think but also have a lot of wind so who knows!

Going to a cash and carry today to shop for the school disco on Friday night which I have the joy of being in charge of (thats my job on the PTA). I have told them I won't be doing the next ones in Feb, May and July. They will have to find someone else. I'm going to take a break.

Also we are having a fitted wardrobe put in today (well partly anyway as the man who is making it hasn't finished the over bed bit) and there is a lot of banging so glad to be going out.

Re headaches I have been trying to up my fluid intake! Re constipation I have been trying to up my fibre intake! Isn't there always something to think about!!!
