First trimester worries and joys. Test taking, morning sickness, midwife appointments and scans. It's all happening.

Can't believe we filled up a thread already. (I'll get this deleted if someone's already created a second thread, but I didn't see one!

Although I'm nervous about telling work I don't think it will be too bad as i mainly work with men who probably couldn't care less. It's my friends I'm nervous about telling, mainly because ive been hounded by them for years, had a mc in 2009, tried for a combined amount of time which has been about 3 and a half years (the past 2 and a half years have been properly trying) and was referred for ivf the week before getting my BFP and really don't want to talk the ins and outs, (they know none of this) I also know I will get comments like "we knew it" which will annoy me as they know nothing. Sorry I sound really bitter and horrible and it's not like that, I know I am a person to bottle things up and not tell me friends, and they are lovely people, but I could do without the "we had guessed" "we knew it" comments as I feel really sensitive.

Do you work with mainly women frozen? Potentially I think they may have guessed, but if you are good at disguising your bump/sickness you may have got away with it :)

Southy84 · 28/10/2015 21:38

Ps just read through again and you sound like a lovely friend frozen And sensitive to your friends, I hope my rant didn't come across like I didn't think you were, sorry if it did I didnt mean it too (sorry slightly paranoid Blush )

frozensmoothie · 28/10/2015 21:40

Southy that sounds really tough. It's totally understandable why you're reluctant to tell your friends when they're not aware of everything you've been through to get to this stage. It must been so difficult being hounded by them when they don't know what you're going through . It's difficult to know how you could deflect the attention /comments when you tell them. I'm a really private person too who bottles things up and hates being the centre of attention which will be difficult as the pregnancy becomes more noticeable.

I do work mainly with women (only 1 man in the team!) None of them have children but I'm sure I caught one of them looking at my stomach the other day although maybe I'm just being paranoid!

Southy84 · 28/10/2015 21:54

Maybe once we get the 12 week scan done I will feel a bit different (I'm hoping anyway). Although I'm sure I will then gain new worries :)

I always think people are staring at my stomach, it will be interesting to see who out of the people we work with have actually guessed, you will need to let me know :)

frozensmoothie · 28/10/2015 22:19

Yes! You'll need to let me know too.

Hopefully you'll feel differently after the scan. Not too long to go now Smile I still don't feel like there's a baby in there even after the scan!

Southy84 · 28/10/2015 22:29

Will do, ohh and yes I won't believe there's a baby in there til I can feel it move. It feels very strange right now! Almost like the scans were someone else's

evs34 · 29/10/2015 07:34

I agree girls. It does all feel very odd. I just can't imagine another baby. I have a bump- wearing mat clothes as everything too tight. Seems crazy at only 11 weeks but I think third baby it is normal to show earlier. Will be telling work next week I think. Dreading it! Not sure why pregnancy makes us feel so unwell - fingers crossed it gets better xx

Nicky333 · 29/10/2015 08:12

I'm nervous about telling people too. And I definitely don't feel pregnant. I'm fully expecting the 12 week scan to show I've been imagining it.

My sister's due to give birth to her second DD a few days before our scan, so if everything is by some miracle okay at the scan, I plan to say that being an auntie is amazing and that she's going to love it.

PeasinPod1 · 29/10/2015 08:43

Thanks for the good luck Southy Smile when is your 12 week scan? Sorry to hear you have extra stress re. telling your friends, there's so much tot think about.
Just had horrid tube journey in, wearing my baby on board badge (as get very winded standing up so long) not 1 person offered their seat despite clearly clocking me. In a ratty mood already grrrrrrrr!

notsoold · 29/10/2015 08:57

peas ShockShock at ppl !!! They can be very rude!

Can't scroll and can't think but just wanted to say hi to everyone.
I am having a morning in bed as dh is playing with toddler downstairs. It is lovely to read how the bellies are appearing....
Have a good day!!!

PeasinPod1 · 29/10/2015 09:33

Thanks not!

Enjoy your morning in bed, sounds bliss...best place to be!!

StormTr00per · 29/10/2015 09:41

Sorry haven't had a chance to catch up (again!) But had our scan on Tuesday and all is well Smile due date is now 4th of May.. aka star wars day!! odog can't believe they have already booked an induction!! Argh. I was induced at 42+1 (as initially refused induction) with DS so I pray this one makes an appearance earlier than that!!

Southy84 · 29/10/2015 09:57

Mornjng evs nicky peas and notso it's nice (in a weird way) that we are all having similar worries and have each other to talk to.

nicky that's a lovely way to tell your sister, she will be thrilled :)

My scan is next Thursday peas at 3:30, what time is yours today? I'm excited for you, wish mine was today! That's not good about people on the tube Halloween Angry why are people so rude, I don't cope well on the tube and have a lot of respect for people who use it to commute - especially when pregnant.

Enjoy your morning in bed notso sounds lovely!

Southy84 · 29/10/2015 10:00

That's fab news storm really pleased for you, love the due date Grin

Has anyone heard from muffin she was having a scan last week I think it was (can't remember the day) but I don't think we've had an update, hope she's ok x

Everythinggettingbigger · 29/10/2015 10:25

just wanted to say hi to everyone! 26 baby number 2 due 31st May Smile

Bump already getting rather large, 12 week scan on 17th November cant come quick enough!

frozensmoothie · 29/10/2015 10:37

Oh noPeas that sounds horrible. Full of admiration for pregnant women who commute in on the tube everyday. I have some work events in London in a month and not looking forward to the pregnant in rush hour tube journeys at all. I was even considering wimping out of the events completely.

Glad your scan went well Storm looks like you have an appropriate username for your due date!

Glad I'm not the only one struggling to tell people and not feeling like there's a baby in there. I don't think it will feel real until I get a proper bump and can feel movements.

I finally had a decent nights sleep last night with no insomnia, crazy dreams or getting up to go to the loo. Amazing how much better you feel after a decent nights sleep. Maybe I will survive the rest of this week after all!

ODog · 29/10/2015 10:37

storm - 42+1!! I really feel for you. I narrowly escaped induction last time as I went 10 days over but thankfully started naturally. It felt like the longest 10days of my life. I'm hoping to escape induction this time and may hold off a few days if I'm still pg on 16th but I'll see how I feel. I might just want him/her out by then.

ODog · 29/10/2015 10:40

Oh and welcome everything.

Ps there's a July bus! I love it when new buses appear!

Southy84 · 29/10/2015 10:54

Welcome everything congratulations :)

I'm jealous about your sleep frozen I'm still getting up twice a night to pee Angry and it's doing my head in!

I just spotted the same thing odog nice to see us all moving up the queue :) we will need a new bus soon too

ljjeffro · 29/10/2015 11:18

I also feel like I'm showing already but at 10+2 with my first I'm pretty sure its just bloat! I thought I already had a stretch mark yesterday but on closer inspection I realised it was a vein! My stomach seems to all of a sudden be very veiny which is not very attractive.

My 12wk scan is on Monday 9th Nov and i think me and dh are going to do the rounds after work to all the family. Last time we arranged for everyone to come round for dinner to do an announcement, but then the scan didn't go well and we had to phone round everyone to let them know what happened. I really don't want to be doing that again and also everybody would guess.
I'm going on a girls weekend on Friday 13th to Liverpool with 11 of my friends, so I'm planning on telling them when we get there. I didn't want to say I couldn't go because they would have guessed straight away and at least I can not drink without pretending I am. I'm just worried that I'm not going to be able to cope with being sober while everyone around me is drunk! At least we have an area in the club we're going to on the Saturday night which means I can sit down, because I don't know how long ill last in heels without having a drink.

Everythinggettingbigger · 29/10/2015 12:45

Thanks odog and southy

Im from Liverpool ljjeffro you will have a fab night sober or not...enjoy Grin sorry about your first scan, that must have been awful.

I had an early scan due to pains in my shoulders when i was between 5-6 weeks....seen a little heart beat eek! got a private scan booked for 23rd December to find out what we are expecting to surprise the family on Christmas day!

Frozen I told work when I was 6 weeks due to telling the girls (theres only 4 of us, the rest of the office are men) and it getting round like Chinese whispers! I was so worried as a few have just been made redundant the week before, my boss was lovely though!

frozensmoothie · 29/10/2015 13:04

Glad you boss was lovely when you told the, Everything. Gossip is rife at my work too so I'm sure it will get around like Chinese whispers as soon as I tell them. My boss can be a bit of a tricky character so it could go either way!

The private scan will be a lovely Christmas surprise! I've got my 20 week one on 15th Dec so will hopefully also know what we're expecting in time for Christmas Smile

Good luck for your scan ljjeffro and sorry to hear what happened last time. I must admit I've been a bit flaky with friends when it involves going to clubs and drinking. Partly because I've been feeling so rubbish but also because I'm not sure about being sober when everyone else is drunk. I've become a bit of a hermit! One of my friends did say she guessed when they came around for dinner and I was off the G&Ts.

DorotheaHomeAlone · 29/10/2015 13:20

Hey everyone, glad to hear I'm not the only one giving up and switching to mat jeans already! Had an extra scan yesterday to check placenta/c-section scar interaction. All seems fine as they're convinced placenta will move anyway. Was nice to see baby again. Looked much bigger at 13+5 than 12w.

Had a question though. Kings do their anomaly scan at 22w for some reason. I thought it had to be done 18w-20W+6? Has anyone else had this? Means next scan isn't til 21 dec. Still before Christmas do not too upset but just seems weird.

GrouchyKiwi · 29/10/2015 15:20

Hi all. I keep dropping out for some reason and then there are about a million posts to catch up on. Hope you're all doing ok.

Has anyone on their 2nd or more pregnancy felt like they can feel the baby move already? I'm sure I've felt a few wee movements already, though it would be absurdly early.

I'm actually wondering (a bit, like 25% of me) whether I'm having twins. Levels of tiredness, the fact I've got a bump already, and family history, plus the feeling of baby movement all make me wonder. 2 weeks till my scan; will have to wait till then to find out.

I have so much catching up to do with this thread. Very exciting to hear about people's scans and bumps starting to appear. Really sad to hear about those who have had bad news too... Thinking about you all!

I had my booking in appointment today and my midwife is so lovely that I feel like a massive worry has been lifted from me. I'm not sure why I thought it would be so intimidating, but it really wasn't. Sporting two big bruises from the blood tests though, my usually juicy veins decided to hide.
