With dd1 it got worse and then levelled off. Hoping it will do the same again. Going to cracking on with some pilates in the hope that it helps.

Our scan is next week but I don't think we're finding out.

Who do I need to pm about the fb group?

ComeLuckyApril · 05/11/2015 19:46

I'm suddenly huge too! And today I felt baby squirming in a way that felt like definitely more than probably just wind. I feel really pregnant all of a sudden, none of my clothes fit!

crumblybiscuits · 06/11/2015 11:37

Another beautiful daughter for us! Baby has been nicknamed Froglet.

Awww congratulations crumbly! Two little girls - how lovely!

Rinnyx got me into the FB group so you could try PMing her?

Want2bSupermum · 06/11/2015 16:35

Ah beautiful crumbly! I have no idea what we are having and find out on Monday November 23rd. Feels like its ages away. DH is away so couldn't do earlier. At this point I just want a baby that sleeps! No colic, no sleep apnea and no development delays either please.

KnitsBakesAndReads · 06/11/2015 17:41

Hi ladies. Not sure anyone will remember me, I posted a few times when this thread first got started but haven't been around for a while.

I'm now just over 18 weeks and have our 20 week scan coming up soon. Still haven't 100% decided if we want to find out if we're having a boy or a girl.

April - definitely know what you mean about suddenly feeling like you're really pregnant. I didn't have much of a bump until about a week ago when it almost seemed to appear overnight! Had to do some emergency maternity clothes shopping and luckily my friend also leant me some of her maternity clothes so I now at least have clothes that fit.

Congratulations on the scan crumbly. Love the baby nickname. Is your DD excited about being a big sister?

Hope everyone else is doing well. I was amazed at how quiet this thread has been after being so busy at the start. Hopefully everyone is just feeling so well in the second trimester that you haven't time to post. :-)

PurplePoppy17 · 06/11/2015 18:47

So we just had our private gender scan, we got 27 photos of out beautiful little baby... Which is a GIRL. So exciting. I'd have been happy either way to be honest, but it just makes it feel more real now all of a sudden. This is a pic of baby almost sucking her thumb. Xx

Want2bSupermum · 06/11/2015 19:18

Yay another girl! Congrats.

DH and I are really struggling with names. It is so so hard as our favs that we both like are used.

MazzleDazzle · 06/11/2015 19:26

Congratulations Poppy! That is one of the best scan pics I've ever seen. It's so clear.

We're not finding out, but if we were I'd def. do so at a private scan. They really make an effort for the scans to feel special. I'm going to get a 4D scan. Didn't do so with my last two pregnancies, but I think my two wee ones would LOVE to come along and get a peak at their brother/sister.

I'm the same as you Want2! Though it's my 3rd time round so I've earned my sleep training stripes!

PurplePoppy17 · 06/11/2015 20:18

Thank you!! Aww I just love getting the private scans, they are just amazing. So much detail, every picture is different. Smile

I'm so excited, I feel like I'm bonding even more already with our little girl. Now we need to start thinking of names... Confused

Girls name suggestions welcome? Smile

Hello
Been bit absent here as DS had an op on 26th Oct for his breathing then just after 1am on Thursday he was rushed to hospital for an emergency op as he woke up coughing, swolling and then sicking up a lot blood.
He only got out late yesterday tho his bloods are still bit low.

So DP spent his birthday at his bedside then we decided he go home that evening and I spent the night.
Hoping DS might be well enough to be up and about for his birthday Monday.

Works been great and told me to come back when I'm ready and to just look after him and myself as I was 19 weeks yesterday.

waxweasel · 07/11/2015 16:54

Oh god your poor DS! That must have been terrifying for you all. I hope he's feeling better in time for his birthday - what a brave boy

KnitsBakesAndReads · 07/11/2015 19:40

Congratulations on the scan Poppy, what an amazing photo.

Hope your DS is feeling better soon Rinnyx, that sounds like a scary experience for you all. It's good work are being understanding, hopefully that gives you space to look after DS and yourself.

Quick question from me, has anyone got tips for dealing with lower back pain? Since this morning my lower back has been really sore, I can't sit upright properly and it's really uncomfortable to move from lying down / sitting to standing. I've got some of those stick on heat pads from when I had back pain pre-pregnancy but not sure if they are safe to use now. Really hope this goes away soon! Any advice much appreciated.

Oopsnumber3 · 07/11/2015 19:51

Knits, I had this with DC1, one trip to the osteopath sorted me out. The guy was a miracle worker. Set me back £50 though.

PurplePoppy17 · 07/11/2015 21:09

I'm really struggling with lower back pain too, today hasn't helped as I've been so I'll with sickness I've been on the sofa or in bed all day. My back is just throbbing. I'm no use at taking pills so I'm really struggling Sad. Any tips for me? I'm 17 weeks. Thanks in advance Thanks

Want2bSupermum · 07/11/2015 21:53

I've had back issues with all 3 pregnancies. I have a roller I got when pregnant the 1st time and I use that with DH using a rolling pin on the really bad bits and towards the end of my pregnancies when it's hard to get down to and up from the floor. I have done massage this time but my previous 2 times I went to a miracle worker chiropractor. Luckily here in the US my roller and chiropractor appointments were all included in my pregnancy care so no further copays.

ComeLuckyApril · 08/11/2015 05:35

I'm sure the heat pads are fine as long as you don't get yourself uncomfortably hot. I know hot water bottles and baths are fine. Also some of the over the counter back rubs are great, just avoid any anti inflammatories like ibuprofen/diclofenac as those aren't safe. If that's not cutting it definitely ask the doctor as there is more they can do and you might need physio referral. You can get back support belts which help a lot.

KnitsBakesAndReads · 08/11/2015 16:58

Thanks for the advice everyone. Oops, think I may wait a day or two to see if it gets any better but will definitely look into seeing an osteopath if it doesn't improve. Even £50 would be worth it if it stops me feeling so rubbish.

Think I'll try a heat pad and maybe try to get something like deep heat too. And will definitely see the GP if it doesn't improve - at the moment I'm just hoping it'll be better enough for me to go to work tomorrow.

Sorry you're suffering too Poppy. Only other thing I've found helps slightly is trying to move around a bit if you're able to. I've been walking (very slowly!) around the house today and it seems to start feeling very slightly better after that.

MazzleDazzle · 08/11/2015 17:51

Sympathy to all those suffering from back pain. It must be awful! Luckily, I've managed to avoid it in my pregnancies.

I'm finding it increasingly difficult to go about my day with these veins! My whole groin is swollen and throbs. The only relief I get is when I sit down. Was at the local memorial service the morning and there were four hymns. Every time I stood up it was painful. I've ordered huge knickers from Mothercare and I'm going to try wearing really thick pads support, as I've read that helps. Failing that, there is a nifty crotch lifter called a v-brace, which is expensive and looks very bulky and uncomfortable. Midwife appointment on Thurs, so I'll tell her about it then. I never complain in RL and always say everything's fine, so I keep having to remind myself that this time I'm going to speak up. The thought of 21 weeks of this discomfort is getting me down.

Moan over! I'm the same as you Poppy: the private scans are brilliant. I didn't have any with my first two pregnancies, and I've only had one this time, but it was so much better that the NHS ones, which, in my experience, are rather perfunctory and completed by a brusque sonographer. At my private one the lights were dimmed, there was music playing and everyone was super lovely. I know this is all superficial, but it made me feel so much better!

pingoose · 08/11/2015 20:13

mazzle that sounds terrible! I hope you manage to get it sorted.

15+5 today and thought I was over the worst of the nausea, but managed to give myself a bleeding nose throwing up so violently this morning. Pregnancy is so glamorous!

brookeberry · 09/11/2015 11:04

Hello all Smile I hope it's okay to ask you for a little advice.

I'm 17 + 3 after 3 mcs (all before 8 wks) and this will be my first DC. I know everyone worries, and I've been up and down, it's just that I'm not feeling anything now after lots of lovely reassuring symptoms. I mean low down - I've always had a subtle ache and then recently sharpish twinges low down each side and now nothing. I think I keep reading about flutters and I'm like, what flutters!!

Hope everyone is doing well Smile

crumblybiscuits · 09/11/2015 13:20

brooke you probably have an anterior placenta. I'm 16 weeks with my second dc and can't feel a thing yet due to anterior placenta.

MrWriter · 09/11/2015 16:34

Hi all,

Lovely to see all the scans, ours is on Friday and I cant wait. Not sure whether to find out the sex or not?!

Brooke I had an anterior placenta with ds1, it was a bit pants, I never felt anything proper throughout the pregnancy, just the occasional kick but not very much. I'm glad it was with my first or I would have been panicking, as I can feel a lot with this one and I'm 20 weeks!

I bought a doupler, I know there's mixed views about these, but I found it reassuring as I could never feel him.

Hopefully as your baby gets bigger you'll feel more.

MazzleDazzle · 09/11/2015 18:06

Brooke I'm 18+3 and can't feel a thing! Early on I was convinced I could, but obviously it was nothing. Confused It's my 3rd, so I know what it's supposed to feel like. How long until you're 20 week scan? If you are really worried, you could get a private mini-scan. If you ship around, I've seen them for as little as £20.

PurplePoppy17 · 09/11/2015 18:15

I was thinking about buying a Doppler, but wasn't sure as I've heard so many mixed reviews so I'm still not sure.

We found out just as a spare of the moment kind of thing but have decided to keep it a secret from everyone and it's kinda nice having that one thing that nobody else knows cause it's always the same questions people ask, 'when are you due' 'what are you having' blah blah blah so it's nice having one thing that I can keep a secret so that only you
