Anyone have any top tips for headaches? I've not been able to shift this for 3 days and paracetamol isn't working

Dexlie0806 · 12/09/2015 13:21

Sorry I haven't been around for a bit just been so busy. Just checking in with u all.
Sorry to all those still struggling with sickness. I'm 10+3 today and finally starting to feel human again. It feels amazing.
Congrats on all the scans. I still haven't got a date for my 12 week one. Hoping I get a letter this week.
Enjoy your weekend ladies.

5madthings · 12/09/2015 13:43

carrot I have been having horrible head aches which make me sick. Paracetamol does bugger all. I am trying to make sure I drink plenty as that helps, somwtimes getting some fresh air has helped but ultimately I have just needed to sleep. Dh is being a star and dealing with madthings while I sleep whenever possible.

Just going to read back to see how everyone is doing.

MrWriter · 12/09/2015 13:45

Hi all, just getting a chance to catch up with everyone after getting back from holiday on Monday.
I have a scan on Friday but feeling guilty cause I had a glass of wine with my dinner every night while we were away.
Got the bloody cold now too. Feeling miserable with only lockets to help.

CarrotVan · 12/09/2015 14:59

DS refused his nap so couldn't have a proper sleep myself but he's gone to sleep curled up on me so I've cat napped and feel a bit better

ashboo76 · 12/09/2015 17:29

Della I am getting one huge ouchie spot that pops like a teacher once a week they kill and I never ever get spots ??

Carrot I'm getting headaches in the evening and using the forehead stick it's so lovely but do t get it in your eyes!! ??

ashboo76 · 12/09/2015 17:30

Like a teenager not teacher lol

Cherrypie5 · 12/09/2015 18:35

Congrats on the scans everyone! It's an amazing feeling when you see that heartbeat flickering away on the screen isn't it :)

I'm not sure if I will be joining the Facebook group yet, If I get to 12 weeks ok, then I probably will, but don't use it much.

Seeing the midwife on Monday for my booking in and also the gp next as I'm still spotting (though very minimal now) but Ive now been bleeding for 3 weeks! Although no heavy bleeding for over 2 and the epu were happy when they scanned me as everything was developing normally and they could see no reason for the bleed, I've been discharged from the epu, so if I want a 3rd scan I'd need to be referred again. All very stressful!

anyway, I hope everyone else's pregnancys are going well :)

Rinnyx · 12/09/2015 19:39

I'd still post here as well as FB, I'm more of an Instagram person Grin tho still not saying anywhere online other than here about being pregnant.

DP told his sister last night so she called to congratulate me, so it's just me, DP, DD, SIL and Inlaws that know.
DS asked today if the was a baby in my belly, it's getting hard to hide already but my hunt for bottoms for work was a fail today.
New mothercare needs to open already, H&M need to get better stock in and debenhams only do maternity online Angry
Sorry for moan, my back pain is just getting worse Sad

MazzleDazzle · 12/09/2015 20:13

Glad the meds are making a difference ComeLuckyApril.

MrWriter I have had the odd glass of wine too and did so with my last two pregnancies. Personally I'm more worried about the dangers of caffeine, which is harder to monitor as it's hidden in many foods as well as drinks and labels mention it. Congrats on your scan!

Can sympathise with the hormonal spots Ash! I broke out along my jaw/chin last time. Painful and ugly!

MazzleDazzle · 12/09/2015 22:31

labels mention it? Damn auto correct.

Should read, labels FAIL to mention caffeine content!

Want2bSupermum · 13/09/2015 01:06

5madthings If paracetamol won't shift a headache I would call your midwife as it could be a problem with your blood pressure. When I was pregnant with DD I had preeclampsia and had a hideous headache that didn't budge. However, it could just be high blood pressure due to dehydration.

I had my due date moved from April 7th to April 3rd yesterday plus all my bloods taken apart from one which can only be done Mon-Thurs. The clinic is open 7am-9pm so hopefully I will be able to go after work on Tuesday. My client has just completed their acquisition and got us a bunch of materials that we need to start work. I am looking at 14-16 hour days for the next 2 months. THANK GOODNESS I 'ONLY' work 4 days a week.

MrWriter · 13/09/2015 09:44

Thanks mizzles I'll be happier when I have my next scan.

ashboo76 · 13/09/2015 10:00

I watched that program with Katie piper on extreme births last night apart from them all being very er eccentric 2 of them had no scans whatsoever ... I haven't had one yet and have 2.5 weeks to wait til the 12 weeks and that's scary enough! Can you imagine none! ??

PallasCat · 13/09/2015 10:37

All went well at booking yesterday, though MW took me in hand a bit and told me I need to see a dr about back problems (not PG-related, I've had them from before). She's absolutely right - after three months of this it's silly hoping it will just sort itself out - improved at first but now it's getting worse again and I can barely get myself out of bed in the morning. If PG back problems hit in addition to this I'll be housebound. So, sorting it next week.

Managed to have a really busy and enjoyable day yesterday, AND managed to stay awake long enough to watch a DVD after dinner. This hasn't happened in weeks! DH was dead impressed!

FB - I'd join but still hang around on here too Smile

5madthings · 13/09/2015 11:18

wanttobe I have the opposite problem with my blood pressure, it's always too low and gets lower in pregnancy making me prone to fainting. I think the head aches are partly tiredness and also because my allergies are playing up making my sinuses blocked so the pain is all around my eyes iykwim but yes pre eclampsia is one to look put for with head aches and I think swelling of feet and hands are another sign and vision problems?

Want2bSupermum · 13/09/2015 13:31

5madthings You don't necessarily get all the symptoms. I had a headache that didn't budge and then started throwing up. It was horrible. Two days later my hands and feet blew up. Earlier in my pregnancy with DD my blood pressure was off and I had a horrible headache. Turned out I was dehydrated so they gave me a drip and I was fine. The headache went away.

Pallas Great to hear your MW if looking out for you. I ended up with horrible back pain with my first where I could hardly walk. I went to the chiropractor 3 times a week until delivery. With DS and this pregnancy I started going when I found out I was pregnant.

ash I just couldn't go through my whole pregnancy without having blood tests or the scans at 12 and 18 weeks. They have them for a darn good reason! With DD her heart wasn't formed properly at 18 weeks and I went back at 26 weeks for another scan. I like that if there had been a problem I would have known about it upfront and a medical team could be there if needed. DS was over 10lbs and they knew that so my obn had a specialist waiting for DS's delivery so they could do checks to make sure he was healthy. The obn was worried about him having diabetes.

ashboo76 · 13/09/2015 13:49

Pallas some back advice see an osteopath rather than a chiropractor assuming it's muscle or bone related as they do gentle manipulation and better for pregnancy do t see your doctor they are not experts they would normally prescribe painkillers obviously you can't take any at the mo.

I cracked a disc 20 years ago it's an ongoing manageable thing with Osteo or chiropractor but I feel your pain there is nothing worse. Do not use ice packs! And keep moving... Yoga also helps xxx

Rinnyx · 13/09/2015 14:33

Have dragged DP out to take me on clothes hunt, nearly £80 down (ouch) but I now have 3 pairs of bottoms to carry me through this pregnancy Cake
Very happy for clothes but price was a sting

crumblybiscuits · 13/09/2015 14:48

Ashboo I can't understand that! My last pregnancy my DD had a chromosonal abnormality that was incompatible with life that was picked up at 12 week scan. I couldn't go without!

I said I would put a snap up of baby at 7+5. Here is the most exciting blob in my life Grin

crumblybiscuits · 13/09/2015 14:50

Toes missed your message from before. Burnt out from work last week after my scan on Friday and have been off all weekend with non stop sickness so I've had a nice rest at least!

poco2015 · 13/09/2015 15:08

5madthings, supermum is right, my last pregnancy I had serious swelling, but it was July and hot as hell so I put it down to that, vision was fine, bp was up and protein n urine, no headache, I was a little irrational but that was also put down to the heat. Really I had minimal symptoms which is scary tbh.

My first scan is wednesday Im so upset because dh can't make it, and I'm worried because I keep having this dream that there is no heartbeat (several miscarriages so just waiting for this to go wrong). Also, I have no childcare for my little boy so he will have to come with me, i haven't read anywhere from the info the hosp sent me that he cant be there. FX it will be fine as he will be strapped in a pushchair.

5madthings · 13/09/2015 15:28

Yay for scan pics, it's a super cute blob crumbly

My scan is a week tomorrow, dh is trying to get time off work but it's tricky with his job. The madthings will be at school so that's Ok, in other pregnancies I have taken little and had them strapped in pushchair etc, it's not ideal but am sure it will be fine poco

My BP is about 90/60 and am low risk for pre eclampsia as never had it with my others, apparently if this baby was with a new father rather than dh who is dad to my others I would be higher risk. I had head aches at this stage with my others as well and no protein in wee etc but I will keep an eye and call medicom if I need to. Thankfully dh at home all weekend and so I have been able to rest, I just made myself eat having only had a bowl of cereal all day and feeling increasingly vomity, eating is either going to make me puke or make me feel better, hoping it's the second!

Re scans I paid with the madthings for the nuchal scan as I was too young to be eligible in my local authority as I was under 35, this time I am 36, Yay and they gave recently changed the rule so everyone gets it anyway.

With ds1 the 20wk scan picked up an issue with his kidneys that needed to be monitored after birth, it's now fine he is a hulking great 16yr old but obviously it was important that he was monitored.

They also gave me extra scans as I tend to gave a small bump, so worried re size of baby.. Except I have good sized babies it turns out.. I just hide them well. Esp Ds4 who was 10lb 13oz. My other boys wrre 9lb + and then dd was a dinky 8lb so hoping this one is more like dd than the boys weights.

crumblybiscuits · 13/09/2015 15:45

Wow those are some healthy weights! I have monthly growth scans as DD1 was IUGR and only weighed 5lbs 15oz at 40 weeks. This is my first with DP and he was 10lbs. I love a chunky baby. You are a wonder woman!

Definitelysometime · 13/09/2015 16:47

Very healthy weights madthings! My DD was 9lb 14 so I'm terrified of another whopper. Having extra tests for diabetes etc this time, although I didn't have it with DD, plus I was 9lb 19 myself so should have seen it coming really. Ouch!

We've decided we won't find out the sex again, loved having a surprise first time round. I know I'm going to get impatient around 20 weeks though, especially when some of you guys will be finding out! Anyone else on team yellow till the finish line?
