Re the chemists, I just ticked the back part that said i was in possesion of a maternity exemption certificate (although thats not strictly true, but certainly in possesion of a pregancy, just try and give me shit mr chemist YEAH!) Didnt have to argue with him but had the whole rant prepared should I have had to.

largeginandtonic · 29/11/2006 11:49

Wow RK that looks fab! I soooo love cath Kdston, almost (not quite) as much as i love KK's.... Am off to look there now too...

redkennedy · 29/11/2006 11:50

got a feeling the cath kidston one is spelt wrong - should have a T in it..

largeginandtonic · 29/11/2006 11:51

Thanx RK will just do that then, hopefully they will be ok with it, it's not like i could be faking it, im soooo round!

twelvedaysofchristmas · 29/11/2006 11:57

Just sign the thingy ont he back to say you don't pay because you're pregnant. If you haven't sent off the form to get the free prescriptions then you need to, but my pharmacy just took me at my word when I did that. I hadn't actually sent off the form, so I didn't have the exemption card with me.

Poor you. I had all my wisdom teeth out in the end. Paid £500 for the priviledge, but it was money well spent. I couldn't live with the pain any longer.

largeginandtonic · 29/11/2006 12:33

Have sent you an email 12DOC, am all excited and smiley

The teeth are hell, ive been on the waiting list for about 2 years and now ive moved. The doc said he would refer me and mention my waiting for 2 years already. So here's hoping, not sure they would do it when im prg anyway?

Frenchsmallfry · 29/11/2006 13:12

Right thats it, I'm not talking to you lot anymore!!! It seems that the times I am sat here, friendless and lonely, you guys are all busy doing something very important. The occassional time I am pre-occupied with children and packing (no school on a wednesday here) you are all having a wail of a time chatting. Beggining to take it personally.

I can sympathise with the wisdom teeth thing too JL, I only have one, had the other 3 taken out when I was 20 under general because I am a wuss! Now the last one has begun to haunt me. It doesn't hurt but I know it's not good as I keep getting a yucky taste from it so think something nasty is lurking underneath. Don't like the dentist though, cry if I have to have a check up.

Hope you get your KK's lg&t, wonder if you will really enjoy them as much as you think when you finally get some.

Off with the children to a 2nd Birthday party now, will be fun and loud I'm sure. Have a good afternoon. I will save an hour to catch up later tonight.

twelvedaysofchristmas · 29/11/2006 13:36

Did someone say something? Sounded like someone was talking, maybe from a different country or something...

OP posts:
largeginandtonic · 29/11/2006 13:49

thought i did too 12DOC >

Nope must have imagined it...

twelvedaysofchristmas · 29/11/2006 14:38

Quick! FSF will be gone by now. Let's all talk about her.

Sorry FSF. Couldn't resist.

I am Officially Pregnant. Just went to the canteen and a lady in the lift asked me when my baby was due and said, "you're around 4 months, yes?" Then I got back to my desk and took half the ham and cheese out of my sandwich and replaced it with cheese and onion crisps. Colleagues were aghast.

HI everyone. I'm not feeling that great today, but it's good to see everyone in high spirits.

There is nothing but drama in my life. My 6mo nephew has really bad reflux and he has been bleeding in is throat and my sister has been in and out of hospital with him. I don't know anything else, but I hope everything is ok.

largeginandtonic · 29/11/2006 15:42

Oh MKG your poor nephew, hope he is ok. They can sort out reflux though, hopefully he will get some help.

Have just done the school run and picked up my antibiotics, please, please let this horrid pain be gone soon. I cant even eat!!

twelvedaysofchristmas · 29/11/2006 15:55

Poor thing, MKG. I've been on a thread recently about osteopathy. Quite a few people swear by it for colic and reflux for babies. (With a paediatric osteopathy specialist of course).

Your sister might not be into "alternative" therapies, but a lot of people think it can't hurt to try it.

Thread is here

I'm considering having it done on my newborn. My osteopath said it can prevent colic and he does a lot of work on babies. Just a thought, since it was on my mind anyway.

Oh MKG your poor nephew, im sending lots of {{{hugs}}} to him, hope you get some news soon.

I agree with FSF if im able to sit at the pc all day i find theres no one about then whenever im away from it for the day everyone reappears (maybe im smell!!)

I have so many websites i have to look at now thanks to you lot on here, the sweety one sounds good but then so do all the discounts (i love a bargain, just look at all the clothes in my wardrobe still with the tags on

Are any of you having trouble getting in touch with your midwives? I havent seen mine since my booking iin appointment 7weeks ago but everytime i phone i get asked to leave a numeric message (pager in other words) and she is supposed to ring me back. Wednesdays is her clinic day which is when i should be able to get hold of her easier but i still have no luck. Ive got an appointment with the consultant next week and im sure he wil be shocked to see i have no maternity notes. Its driving me mad now as i still havent heard my little ones heartbeat or had the results from my blood tests

MKG · 29/11/2006 16:02

Thanks for the recommendation I checked teh American Osteopathic Association and my sister doesn't have any practitioners in her state. I've never heard of it before coming on MN, so it may not be widely practiced here.

twelvedaysofchristmas · 29/11/2006 16:04

That doesn't sound right Pebble. Not impressed on your behalf. I managed to book a phone call for tomorrow with the head consultant midwife in UCLH to chat about a home birth. Booked it via the admin team. Does your midwife work out of a practise or hospital? Is there a secretary you can deal with?

OP posts:
twelvedaysofchristmas · 29/11/2006 16:06

Damn MKG... Will see if I can find out about any other therapies which might work. It's no harm in trying these things I think?

I like the way "alternative" medicine looks to treat the cause, not the effect if you get me, so should be no harm to use in tandem with whatever the hospital are doing.

OP posts:
largeginandtonic · 29/11/2006 16:14

I tried to book my app this morning when i was at the dosc, the receptionist said she has a tiny clinic next week and it's full already! So now i wait till the week after, am tempted to move it to the week after that though as dh will be home then and it would be nice if he got to go to one appointment.

twelvedaysofchristmas · 29/11/2006 16:19

Makes me laugh when they say, "sorry we're full" like you can just say, "oh never mind, I'll just have my baby some other time then."

OP posts:
MKG · 29/11/2006 16:21

LG&T,
Do you have to go there? If that happened to me, I would simply say, ok I'll go somewhere else, and they would lose my business, and I would tell everyone I know not to go there.

twelvedaysofchristmas · 29/11/2006 16:23

Different for us when it's free! You don't get the choice. Not that I'm complaining about it being free of course...

It's really hard to get medical insurance here which covers maternity. It's incredibly expensive I think. Costs upwards of £10K to have a baby privately I believe.
